Let me preface: I’ve never had such a bad experience at a restaurant. I also hate conflict and asking to speak with supervisors at a restaurant. Service was pretty horrible. Our waitress barely came by and when she did, it was almost like she had no idea what she was doing. We waited one hour for our food to come. It was 40 minutes before the waitress came by and said anything about our food coming. We then got our food 20 minutes later. Well… my friends did; it took another 5 minutes for mine to come out. When the food came, it was cold, oily and NOT worth waiting an hour for. Thankfully the manager comped us and though I felt bad, our waitress was extremely rude about this. No apologies until we actually said something. She was dismissive and seemed sour that WE were upset. After waiting an hour for food, running out of water, no forks, and no communication or apologies…she was upset at us. Absolutely gross behaviour from someone who should be providing customer service. It was bad enough we waited and the food was bad, her attitude just solidified us not coming back. Too bad this location is awful as the one on King was much better.

This place has multiple levels, and the top third-floor patio is only open when the weather is nice. The vibes here are great to come with a group of friends and grab some drinks. Not necessarily the place for a date unless you’re strictly getting drinks. The patio doesn’t really serve food, you can get small things like fries but that’s about it, and their drink menu mostly consists of beers. You also have to order and pay at the bar and someone will come to your table to clear up empty cups and whatnot. The second floor is more intimate and has a wider selection of drinks such as cocktails and food. They have some TVs inside which is nice if you want to catch a game as well. I’ve never been to their first floor and every time I’ve been it’s never been open, so not sure if that’s reserved for events and whatnot.

I am giving this more than a 1 because I have visited once before and the beer selection is decent. Service is terrible. But most recently I reserved a table on OpenTable for an outside table of 2. When I arrived, there was no sort of host stand on the bottom floor to greet you. I confusingly wandered up the stairs and got to the patio in the roof. Again, no host to greet you. As I had a reservation I was very confused. I saw a sign saying “seat yourself, bar service”… knowing that meant my reservation was most likely looked over, I asked a bus boy nearby and he replied “we don’t take reservations for the patio”. I showed him my confirmation email clearly stating OUTSIDE seating. To which he said “well you can go grab a beer downstairs and wait, a table should free up soon but we are full”. Excuse me? I left and went somewhere much better.

Dimly lit, cozy and casual. Good for big groups but slow service maybe because of fewer servers. But our server was nice and catered to our requests. Thing to strongly note- THIS PLACE DOESN'T SERVE ANY DESSERT ITEM! This was a first for me, and a disappointment. I'm not a drinker so I couldn't tell you about the stuff they served or probably are known more for I'm sure! Food menu had interesting items and servings were large. I tried their black bean and walnut veggie burger. It overhung the bun and fell apart easily. I had to swipe up the pieces with a fork then. Taste was okay... probably won't order it again. The almond and goat cheese salad was great and flavourful. Fries were also great with the garlic aioli sauce that comes with it. The grains salad with salmon was decent too.

I found Bar Hop by Google searching rooftop patios while in the area last night. Great ambiance, music and a true rooftop patio. Food was disappointing. Limited menu. We ordered the gnocchi poutine and it was not good - but perhaps that was our fault, is that even a good dish? We also ordered their green salad which was too heavy on the greens, short on the fun ingredients, apple, candied almonds, goat cheese etc…hardly any dressing. Most disappointing was the chicken liver pâté. Lots of toasted baguette and a comically tiny portion of pate. Overall, I’d still say it’s a place to go if you’re looking for drinks with friends and a fun atmosphere. Staff were friendly and happy.

I've been there twice, first time in the restaurant and everything was nice and standard. Last time at the end of June we were seated at the roof top, here are a few comments about it. Everything you order needs to be ordered at the bar and paid there so no service to the table. If it's sunny, not all the tables are under a shade. The tip was included directly to the bill, no option to change it unless you ask for it, which leaves a little bitter experience since it feels imposed. However, I saw a few tables being served sporadically.

The beer listing is not as vibrant and exhaustive as the bar hop on King Street. Food is decent at it's best. There quinoa salad with extra chicken is my go to dish at this place. Many beers and foods are marked sold out. That's a total bummer. Not enough Belgian fruit beer options as compared to the King Street location. Have been here 2 times and might think twice before heading back again. There place has a lot of potential and need to improve a lot. One of those places that can be legendary watering holes for young people. The pricing is borderline competitive but the options definitely need to be widened. Hope they change and become an awesome place. Will visit again and review the rating.

Food is good, beer and drink also good. Bone marrow poutine is a MUST try. In my three separate experiences here, I've noticed the staff could be friendlier... but hey I get it. I wouldn't want to be serving the public right now either. I would recommend keeping your mask on at all times even on roof patio here. In case you are given the stern warnings I received by my server. Let's all lighten up a bit shall we? We all have masks with us. You serve us beer, we need to use your washroom. You need our money. We need salvation from home. Can it all be that simple? Thing is there are cooler patios in the area if you were curious to try something off the beaten path.

Ah-ma-zing! The mussels were sooo good. I honestly cannot think of the right adjective to describe how good the mussels were. I got the Spicy Tomatoe Mussels and my boyfriend got the Bacon Blue Cheese Mussels. We also got the basket of parmesan fries. Oh, what about the beer you ask? Just you wait.. I'm getting there. Every beer we tried was great! I personally prefer craft beer so I was definitely in my element. But the best part of the whole experience was the customer service. To the guy who helped us out and recommended all the beers we had... I really hope you got you $20 tip! Because you deserved it!

We went for dinner and drinks and really enjoyed our time at the Peter St location! We were never rushed and the service was top notch! I ordered the bacon burger and it was amazing - very filling. Great variety of drinks and cocktails. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed (we were seated inside opposed to the rooftop patio which had a more lively crowd). Staff were great throughout our stay. 10/10!

Had a great experience at this place. The food was good, the mood was nice. Staff was really attentive and informed about their beverages, and they remained very helpful even though we got probably a bit more than a touch inebriated as the night went through (give them all the tips). I'd recommend this bar to anyone who fancies themselves an elevated beer adventure Tap and fridge selection is rather impressive. Sidenote- I've never had a bone marrow dish before, but I guess there's a first time for everything, eh!

Went a couple weeks ago on a Thursday evening for dinner on the main floor. Nice warm atmosphere, trendy decor. Great option available for ordering beer samples in lieu of flights, however a disproportionate number are sour beers. Ordered peanut butter burger with fries, a first for me, and it was delicious. Partner ordered chicken wings only offered as a special that night, which were rather dry and under-seasoned. Dipping sauces were watery. Service was nice but not always present.

  • Simon W

Came here for a post run social on a Tuesday night and it was quite busy. Good variety of drinks on tap. Unfortunately their patio wasn't opened. I believe the ground floor was closed that day and it was only the second floor that was opened. They had a few TVs for sports which was nice. Felt that the music was a tad loud so conversing was tough.

Bar Hop on Peter is forever my fave (and preferred) spot! ♥ There's always at least 2-3 beers that I'd want to try (dipa for me), and the food menu is always the perfect pairing with the beers. On this visit, they no longer had pork rinds which were my fave. Bone marrow poutine & mussels still stay which are both satisfying if you're a bit more hungry!

We barely made it through the front door and it was the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. They instantly told us there was no chance for a table. So we tried to do take out amd patiently waited to get serve and just constantly got brushed off. Then we noticed they were clearing one table and we asked if we could sit there. Instead they told us that table was for a large group (we were 6). Felt extremely disrespected.

Amazing. One of Toronto's true gems. A selection of the city's and GTA's best craft beers, an interesting bar menu (29th twists on old favourites), and a selection of spirits that would impress any bar goer. A great patio in the summer to sit & sip, taking in the sounds of Toronto. The friendly and knowledgeable staff really put the entire experience over the top. If you have an hour to kill, this is the place to do it in.

This review is for the Peter St location specifically since that's where we went. Great place to go for a drink if you're in the heart of Toronto. The caesers they make are quite possibly the best I've ever had, and the bartender was even nice enough to tell us how he makes it! Great service, huge beer list, amazing caesers. 10/10, would recommend.

This place is for mood and atmosphere... not for the food AT ALL. The wings were super dry and such small sizes and the portion was small too. If the taste was great i wouldn’t mind the portion but it wasn’t worth $14 AT ALL. Supreme fries was ok... fries itself was cold and looked old... there tomatoes and garnish on top of the fries were the best part of our whole meal... drinks are drinks nothing special

This multi-level bar in Queen Street West is a behemoth-- not merely content just to be a great biergarten and pub with a killer brew selection, Bar Hop Brewco's also a 162 seat restaurant and brewery. Chow down on snacks and sides like glazed pork belly steamed buns with kimchi and okra tempura while enjoying local Canadian brews. Oh and you order at the bar. No waitress. Very helpful staff.

  • Mat Kay

EDIT: Dropped a point because the service got terrible; no wait service after 2pm, you have to stand in a crowded line to order and they still expect tips! Horrible. Great craft beers, tasty locavore dishes (mostly disappeared now) and very alcohol -knowledgeable staff, plus a nice summer patio and a comfy winter bar make for a great experience. They brew their own beers too.

  • Anthony S (instantonium at IG)

Big fan of this place! If you are a craft beer / microbrew beer lover, this place is a must do! There are about 30 local beers on tap, and the 4oz tasters are the best way to try as many as you can. Be sure to check out the board on the wall to see if there is a special cask being featured. The food here is pretty good too, so this is a perfect place for dinner and drinks

Stopped in for a fast drink while waiting for my love to have their teeth cleaned. The double IPA is very yummy. My partner stopped in shortly after and had a yummy Kentucky Lemonade. (She had to reschedule the cleaning) Has a warm cozy industrial feel. Thank

Awesome rooftop patio, and excellent selection of draught beer. Service is great and the staff is very knowledgeable about beer. Their menu offers all of my fave things: poutine (bone marrow), pretzels, cheese, cured meats, sandwiches... I could go on and on, but I won't. They offer daily specials that are both affordable and delicious.

Loved the rooftop patio, and the burger was really good. The parmesan fries were ridiculously covered in parmesan, so much so that I couldn't finish them. Not that that's a bad thing, just be warned. I really wish they had a more varied beer selection.... It was just a lot of the same that you can get at the LCBO.

The rooftop here has a really nice vibe & reminds me of crock rock! So much fun & reasonable drinks. All white decor with lights. It’s order at the counter style & pay up front. This is for both food and drinks. Poutine 9/10 Vibes 9/10

This is a great place to eat and have a few drinks. Lots of options on the drink menu, really good sandwiches, approchable staff and fun atmosphere make this an ideal spot for a quick pint or a whole meal of food. I hear the roof top is amazing. I'll update once the nicer weather approaches.

  • Rudy Gerling

Neat little place with pretty amazing food. The burger was phenomenal. Their take on Fries Supreme was great! Pretty good selection of beer, both on tap and in bottles/cans. The roof top patio offered a decent view over the city. My biggest complaint is the chairs: not overly comfortable.

  • K K

The Leafs game was one that evening though the sound wasn’t on if you’re interested in watching it. The beer menu was extensive and had a few gluten free options. I can’t speak about the food as I didn’t try any. Ask or check the chalkboard for drink specials and food specials.

Lovely bar and cozy terrace. We had 48 oysters and great beer. We also ordered their spicy shrimp pasta and it was really really spicy. For my friend and me it was too much. But we had a great time there! Very good service and attentive stuff.

  • Ross Harris

Service was good. Everything else was aggressively mediocre. Fish n chips were prepared in a dehydrator it seemed. Gravy for fries looked like canned mushroom soup lightly zapped in the microwave. Really hope this was an off day for them.
