This Jazz bar is a very special place! There is no other place like this in Canada. I felt nothing but love and camaraderie and felt like I was part of the family. Sure alcohol is great but this is not the point of this establishment. I follow vibes and what an amazing vibe I found. The live music was incredible! I met many amazing and talented people at this bar. I have travelled all over Canada in the last month across 10 cities from Toronto to Haliflax and everything in between and around 9,000 kms of driving and by far the best time I have had was at this bar! I would like to personally thank Maxime and David for showing me the time of my life!!!! Thank you thank you thank you! I shall not forget you, and will make a point of visiting you once again!!! All the best and much love!!!!

When we first arrived, the guitarist from the band greeted my friend and I and found us seats in the jam packed room before they began their second set. We enjoyed the band's final two sets. (alto sax, electric piano, double bass, guitar, drums) We wanted to experience quality, not contrived jazz from the locals and boy, we got it! The band is the best live jazz I've heard in a long time. Phenomenal -- Bravo! Also, I loved the energy buzzing in the room from the engaged patrons and our sweet bar maiden was like a woodland pixie. She handled that room effortlessly single handedly. I've experienced venues with far less patrons within where the multiple staff can't keep up, yet there she was doing a fantastic job, like it's second nature to her! This place has a definite magic to it...
Was lucky enough to catch CBC Trio performing a Django Reinhardt themed show. The sound was amazing, much better than listening to a CD. True the room downstairs doesn't fit a large audience, but like with any other jazz bar, the smaller the place the more intimate the experience. That being said, you're also bound to be victim of at least one late-night group of friends who don't seem to appreciate the music over being rowdy and talking the whole time. This stays true to other jazz bars in other cities. From the bar, I could easily see the sax player who was standing, and I caught most of the upright bass player's solos. By switching spots after the first set, I got a view of all three cats.
Jazzzz at night in old Quebec town!!! The fantastic place to enjoy various music bands here. Service and mood is adorable and friendly for all people. The first floor is little bit crowded after music start, but it is available on the second floor. Also, They serve various drink and beer. Here is not a fancy concert hall, but you can listen to real music much closer than other places. Not only music instruments make sounds, but also its wooden furnitures and interior deco do together. Don’t hesitate to visit here night time, and you can experience energetic and chill live music.
Great place for some jazz, variety of bands. Service somewhat spotty, sometimes quick and courteous, sometimes right down impossible to get a drink... speaking of, the menu has a reasonable amount of cocktail choices, not so much for beers (sorry, didn't check wines). Think seriously about making a reservation beforehand if you wish to "have a view" to the band playing, as after 9 the first floor usually becomes crowded. The second floor though seems to always have some place available... Anyway, for all of you "live music" lovers out there, it's worth!
Amazing jazz bar!! Super cozy! Opens late (8pm) - best to get there before 9 if you want a seat. Stays open late. Cool, local music. Great drinks - large cocktail menu (recommend extra dirty martini! Cocktail olives were awesome). Bartender is incredible! Really knows how to make drinks right, and is a very hard worker. There is no food (they allow you to bring in your own snacks. We brought Mary's popcorn). We recommend sitting at the bar, since they are slightly short staffed for more attentive service. Our favorite experience in Quebec city!
Reserved a seating for an 8:30 show on a Saturday night. Showed up 10 mins early and the place was empty. The bartender (who was quite friendly) said the band wasn't scheduled to start until 9pm. So we sat in a dead bar for a while. At 9pm lots of people starting poring in. Everyone except the band. At 9:40 the final band member finally arrived. The music was good, but too loud for such a small place. The place was also pretty run-down. If it wasn't for the friendly bartender, I'd give it a 1-star, since we really didn't enjoy our time there.
We used to come here every year for my birthday (March-if we don’t go there anymore is because of the pandemic, but definitely looking forward to going there again!). We’ve always had an amazing time. Music is of great quality and the ambiance is nice! Yes it is a small place, but that is part of its charm. Drinks are affordable and people are nice! Ultimately, it depends on the type of night you’re looking for, but in my opinion it is a must-go while in Quebec City! Enjoy :)
If you're looking for live jazz, look no further. We got to enjoy a rotating cast of musicians who all played perfectly off each other throughout a long night of jazz. The main floor is set up to focus on the musicians. The top floor was closed off when we arrived but since we had a larger group they agreed to open it up for us - awesome service! We may have overwhelmed or excellent bartender Guillaume but he stuck with us. Thanks!!
This review should ideally be about the cocktails ("deliciously potent"), the ambience ("intimate and cosy") or the music ("the best place in Quebec for live jazz") but can I take a moment to acknowledge and tip my hat to the people behind it? They have been a part of the place for years, some as much as twenty, and make it the institution that it is today. What a unit! And what a show you put on! Merci beaucoup : )
I love this place. Went to Quebec city with another couple and my friend and I found it just hearing the music. Went back the next day with our wives. I go to Quebec every year or two and we always make it a point to go here. Drinks are good, but not the biggest draw here, it's the music. Best when packed because it gives you a reason to go upstairs and watch from above. You can sit right over the band.
Not a great experience. Sure, we went here off-peak hours and didn’t get the chance to enjoy the jazz that many praise, but we did try the cocktails. They were no good. We tried two simple classics and they both tasted nothing more than lemon soda. Just don’t serve cocktails if you don’t know what you’re doing. Apart from that, a decent low-key bar with friendly service.
Incredible atmosphere here. It’s small and intimate and so much fun. The service was a bit slow but it didn’t matter as you’re treated to amazing live jazz in historic Old Quebec. A very memorable night. We tried to get in on the first night but it was full but the second night we learned there’s a cozy upstairs that sort of looks down on the band.
While on vacation, stopped in on Thursday evening. The place is quite small and interior worn that's why I only gave 4 stars. The folks were friendly and welcoming. The owner was performing a jazz set and they were FABULOUS! Sax and drum players were some of the best I've heard in a while. They are located just off the main drag and worth a stop.
This was a great off-the-beaten-tourist-track jazz bar. We went for the live jazz, and were not disappointed by some classic and experimental music. They have excellent beer and cider, and make classic cocktails. No food is available, but it appeared that people brought in outside food. Wish we still had a venue like this in Calgary!
Lovely hidden gem, although you must arrive early as it gets packed before the show quite quickly (it was full at 8.15pm). Enjoyed the fun jazz and lovely conservations with other bar-goers. Prices are very reasonable too. Loved the atmosphere, would 100% return.

Dark and cozy Jazz bar where the owner both serves drinks and plays the guitar. Two floors, with ground level close to the music action and the second level good for chillin with friends. Drinks are quick, strong, and reasonably priced. Great way to rest and cap off an evening to live music and good convo!
Love this place. Small, intimate, and the Jazz trio was amazing. The bartender was lovely and made excellent cocktails. I would go here on every visit to Quebec. There was a small cover charge that was well worth it.

Super fun cozy jazz bar in Old Quebec. So glad we found this place. They have live jazz music every weekend stating at 9pm-3am. The place gets packed around quarter to. The musicians we saw perform were amazing. And the drinks were extremely well priced and tasty. Highly recommend.
A very small cozy bar. Has many cocktails and excellent service. Jazz on the weekends for a small cover. Go earlier to get seats as they are extremely limited. Additional seating is upstairs, however you can’t see the band. There’s an opening in the floor so the music can go up.
One of the highlights during our recent visit to Quebec was the incredible vibe and energy of the jam sessions here in this quaint and cozy bar. Thanks to Bob and all the musicians, staff and patrons - an absolutely fantastic, top quality jazz community! Magnifique!!! Merci!!!
The bar was very busy as there was a band on. The bar staff weren't very professional, they were doing shots and chatting to each other rather than serving. They didn't have a diet soda option which was surprising and disappointing.

Really liked this place, ambient is classic bohemian pub. Live music when visited, service very friendly and welcoming, not a big variety of drinks to choose but fair enough so don't get fancy.

Easily my favourite bar in Quebec. Live Jazz performed by enthusiastic musicians can never be bad. Good choice of beers. Some characters seemed a bit false as seemed to want to display a certain image but all grist to the mill when giving a place atmosphere.
Wonderful atmosphere. I suggest being here good time before performance is about to start to get a good seat, it’s rather small but that only contributes to the experience.

Amazing little jazz club. Great bartenders and a fun crown both times I was there. This is a club I wish existed in more U.S. cities. If you love jazz this is exactly where you should visit while visiting Quebec City. Better than any club in Montreal.
Great cozy jazz bar. I made sure to go before 9 to get a seat to watch the performance because it does get crowded later! The band was super passionate and made the atmosphere amazing and got everyone nodding their heads throughout the night.
I met the most amazing girl here. What a night lol I want it back. Great music and great vibes. There was a cat that was very friendly in the bar too.

Small, local spot. A bit divey with a lot of old character off a main tourist street. Not a large menu but the bartender was very nice to us and it was nice to see locals enjoying a pint. A little hole to escape the noisy crowds.
Simply the best place in Quebec City! I cannot recommend highly enough! The bar opened around 8:30pm and the Jazz jam started at 9pm on Tuesday. I loved it! Extremely friendly environment and as in any jam random people started
Highly recommend jazz night where people rock up to play with the band. Such a cool and unique vibe. Loved seeing what random instrument was going to rock up!

Great place for a lively night of jazz. Great beer, Friendly staff and the music was off the charts good with talented musicians doing their thing!! Looking forward to coming back on my next business trip.
An incredible, personal bar with incredible jazz and very pleasant bar staff. Wonderful place to spend an evening. Drinks were also very, very good. Definitely adds to the spectacular feel of this city.
This is an absolute gem of a Jazz bar. So cozy but so much athmosphere and Jazz vibes it is a must see if you visit Quebec.

If you order a martini and the glass is so dirty that you ask for a new one ... and then this one is even worse… the only option is to leave. That would have been disgusting even before COVID.
Top notch service, great music, perfect cocktails!! Main area where musicians play is very small ...get there early!! An upstairs but you want to be where the music is and it was great!!

Wonderful live jazz music , bar staff was friendly and attentive. A little dated inside but it somehow gives it more charm. Great place to end an evening with soothing live jazz.
The jazz music started at 9pm, $7.00 charge per person is added to the bill for the music concert charge, totally worth it! A small bar that has such a great jazz atmosphere!
If you are looking for an intimate jazz bar with local flavour that is heavy on ambiance and character, you will love this hidden gem. This was the "find" of our trip!
If you're looking for a great little bar in old Quebec with some great jazz on the week-end, this is THEE place. The staff is very friendly and the ambience is GREAT!
Found it per chance as we heard the music while walking nearby. Its a mini bar, a bit of a dive with elegant notes, great sound, would highly recommend to hear jazz.
The place is small but has a good vibe. The featured local musicians played lovely jazz music. Service was a little slow as there was only one person tending bar.
Great vibes. Late night jazz jams and great atmosphere. The best hidden jem of Old Quebec!
