Food: Everything was delicious. We both ate every bite. My husband ordered the fried tenderloin (grilled was another option). It was lightly breaded, crispy, and juicy. Best tenderloin we've tried. The fries it was served with were good. I ordered the special that day (not on the standard menu), the taco salad. It was served in a crispy, flaky, edible bowl. Lots of dark green leaf lettuce (not the cheaper iceberg), tomatoes, onions, cheese, and seasoned ground beef. It came with a side of salsa and sour cream. I substituted the salsa for ranch dressing. the ground beef was fresh and perfectly seasoned (it didn't taste like a taco mix packet... it tasted home made). I ate everything... it was so good. Service: The waitress was attentive and filled our drinks often. She was also helpful in menu selections. Atmosphere: It looks like this place is old but has been remodeled. Lots of appropriate wall decor and new seating. There was a wall of old beer cans that looked cool. A pool table, a foosball table, and an arcade game. There was a large screen on one wall where it looks like they project games. Would be fun to hang out on game night!

Parking
If it's a busy night, parking may be difficult. There was a small parking lot next to the building. Overflow may need to find neighboring businesses or park in the street.

Went for Sunday brunch, 1/17/2021. The staff was great, the food was good, prices good (takes awhile to get your food). Just make sure you don't park anywhere except right next to the building. If you park in the back next to the alley, they have 0 security camera footage, they have 2 cameras on the parking lot side of the building and neither point at the parking lot, just down the side of the building. My friend, another guy and I were in for brunch, no parking except for next to the alley. His door lock on his truck was punched out and his coat, cell phone and a firearm were missing when we got back to the truck. Yes, he has an Indiana license to carry, whoever stole that pistol probably doesn't, so the next time it may be an armed robbery instead of a burglary. If you're alone and there is no parking other than the alley, I would skip this place altogether. Talked to staff and management, was told they would have no footage of that area. That means you could be dragged behind the garage that the cameras do face and nobody would see you disappear. Shady neighborhood, history aside. My advice to new management would be to re-establish some decent security cameras in 2021. I have 2 home security cameras that would cover that ENTIRE parking lot and the exterior of the building for less than $500.

Running around Indy today and searching neighborhoods for local eats prior to heading South. Found Barringers on Meridian, passed this place a few times but never stopped. You never know what to expect with small bar and grill settings, it's on the small side which is ok. Carried a middle class, middle age patronage with a split of a dozen tables or so on the "family side" and 4 or 5 on the bar side that seems to blend together, and of course a bar. They also have a small patio area out back. Beer was good and cold, a plus. On to the food...waiter recommended the tenderloin. As an Indiana staple I am always in search for the next best fried, pounded out and breaded pork loin. Ding ding, we have a winner. Thing was a bit thicker than I like but was the most tender I've had, falling apart at times. Seemed double breaded and crunchy edges, made it for me. Went with the standard lettuce, onion, pickle, mayo add american cheese with the overhang dipped in mustard. Served on a soft brioche style bun. This one beats the RR Cafe in Mitchell In and carries the title until the next best is discovered. Recommend this place!

Surprisingly I had been across the street from this Tavern but didn’t realize it, a friend who knows how much I enjoy checking out new places to eat mentioned it, and then invited me down to have dinner. The inside is split into a bar and then family style seating on the other, we ended up on the family side, with plenty of tables and chairs that people move around to accommodate their groups. The service is great! Quick and attentive. There is also and arcade in the back with pool, ski ball, pinball and pac man. We had a bucket of mic ultra, and started with the Southport pepper jack balls which are fried cheesy deliciousness with a side of ranch, because this is the Midwest after all. For my main course I had the Hoosier sandwich which is a breaded tenderloin (you have the option for grilled) with all the fixings and then some waffle fries. Overall the food was tasty, and you can tell that they clean the fryer, although my food was fried it didn’t taste other food. I’ll go back! Seems like the perfect place to watch games.

i ate here once about 6 months ago. wasn’t busy at all and the food was really good so i figured i’d try it again tonight. well as soon as i walk in, it was incredibly loud. which isn’t really a big deal, but it was hard to even hear the person i was with over the music. it gave both of us a headache that only got worse because we were so hungry. we sat for about 5 minutes before someone finally asked us what we wanted to drink. another 5 minutes waiting for the drinks as well as a menu, and about 15 or so minutes waiting for someone to take our order. we were pretty patient but it got to the point we just walked out. the guy who originally brought us our drinks actually looked at us a good 3 or 4 times and still never came to take our order. it’s not like he was very busy either. i wouldve understood then. but he wasnt. and it really doesn’t take but a minute or two to take an order. i was disappointed because i was excited to eat here. i hope that if i return, i get better service.

Good food (pizza), good friends, & a very family-friendly (our group ranged from toddlers to senior citizens) atmosphere all made a fun evening. BONUS: a friend I hadn't seen in years, Jeff Angel, was the DJ for Singo!

I decided to check out this quaint little place largely because it came up on my feed. What a great place!! The bartender and cook are very nice gentlemen. It was a slow saturday afternoon but the place had a good sized crowd. The bartender was quick with service and has a beautiful smile to go along with his funny conversations. I ordered the house burger and WoW it was amazing. It was cooked to a perfect medium and had loads of flavor. The bun was perfect. I cannot stand a crispy burnt well done bun. This was soft yet had a small crunch from the grill. My fries were hot and had the perfect amount of salty flavor! This place is truly Indy’s best kept secret. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere for all ages. Check this place out and sit at the bar to meet the best bartender in Indianapolis! Well done folks! I cant give this place enough stars. I left very happy and glad i checked it out.

Barringer's is a cute bar/restaurant on the near south side of Indy. Since the place we used to go across the street (Big Daddy's) did not survive covid Barringer's has inherited our business when we are looking for a casual bar with easy parking near downtown. The menu is varied and the food was tasty but be prepared to wait if they are crowded. Like most restaurants we have been to in the last several months Barringer's was short staffed but they are friendly and work very hard and do the best they can during busy periods. Since this has become the norm I mention it but understand so we will try them again. We are looking forward to the day when restaurants are fully staffed and good service is the norm instead of the exception and try to come when not so packed to fully experience and enjoy all Barringer's has to offer.

It was $9 for 10 ounce plastic cup of beer. Not even a 16 ounce normal solo cup worth of beer. Food tries to have clever names with some story for why it's named that way but food is pretty basic and mostly bland. Their "Cajun" sausage and cheese plate had nothing Cajun about it, not even a sprinkle of blackening season. I've heard to try their pork tenderloin but it was tough and nothing special. I've had better pork tenderloins at nursing homes and truck stops. I've lived in Indiana for 35 years and still do not understand how or why the pork tenderloin sandwich is considered an "Indiana staple". For about as much as we spent per person for the quality and their portions, we would have been better off going up the street to the steak house for a few bucks more.

I came here on a whim but upon trying the scorpion sauce, it became an immediate favorite. I've begged for spicy many places in Indy and from Thai, Indian, Mexican and Cajun, I could never find detectable heat in the 'hottest' options. The scorpion sauce here is delicious and I can finally feel a bit of heat! Not too hot for a fan of spicy but very flavorful. I have tried it on the fries and on pizza. Be sure to order extra extra if you like heat because the flavor will leave you wanting more! Very friendly servers and there is a nice vibe there where you can tell many people are repeat customers and for good reason.

Very nice place to eat, have been wanting to come to this place for awhile for a date night but never can caisyof the kiddos, finally ordered to go food and it was phenomenal, everything was made with fresh ingredients and good portions, the Capone salad was full of all the finest salads and a whole piece of flavorful chicken, grilled!! Very nice house made ranch compliments this salad. Also had the double burger and me and my lady couldn't pack it all in and we pack some cheeseburgers away it was gigantic!! THIS GRILLED CHEESE THOUGH!! THIS HAS GARLIC TOASTED TOAST AND A BUNCH OF PULLED PORK AND CHEESE, this came with a BBQ sauce that was like apple cider based or possibly alcohol based, it's for some and not for others. All and all this place was awesome!!

Review of only the food as I had a pickup order- it was ok. Good prices and good portion, food was hot and was ready quickly. Also very friendly employee that handed it over to me. I just didn't love the food, the tenderloin was a nice large size but it was super thick. The breading was quickly becoming soggy because of such a thick portion of meat. A thinner piece would have been awesome, maybe a little pepper or seasoning in the breading because it didn't taste of any. The fries were also ok, they are fresh cut fries but had too much of chewy potato skin on them. No plasticware or condiments were included, but there were napkins. I will try something else next time, I won't hold it against the establishment because I didn't care for the taste of one meal.

Cool tavern spot. Good service average bar food. Game room and patio area out back. Limited parking. If you stay late, the area goes down because of the low life's at the Bar across Meridian.

Don't let the rustic atmosphere fool you. The food is great, they have a broad beer selection, and the waitstaff is friendly, knowledgeable, courteous, and quick. This was our first time here, we went with several friends, and we all really enjoyed it. The ONLY issue we had was that we were sitting right next to the corner where someone came in toward the end of our meal and set up a large and very loud karaoke system. We were out with friends and enjoying our conversation, but once that started, we cut our time short and left, as it was impossible to talk at that point. Outside of this, our visit was great, and we would gladly go back. Just not on karaoke night.

Been coming here since the change in ownership. They have made a ton of fun updates while still maintaining low prices that will surely make your wife happy! The true highlight, however, is the staff. Friendly, goofy, and fun, these guys truly make this place great. From Marcus, who remembered my order after about the first month and always shouts out a warm welcome, to Kylene, who makes some of the most delicious and creative drinks I’ve ever had. This place is truly an Indianapolis gem!

The renovated place is very clean and modern on the inside, giving it more of a upscale feel, but it seemed to have less seating. The Grand Opening menu had only a few appetizers, sandwiches, and sides but stated it is a work in progress. The drink prices were a bit upscale for my plebeian tastes. Depending on the food expansion, this could become a lunch and after-work destination for Lilly and other downtown employees. It is definitely not the neighborhood dive it used to be, though.

Food was great! We asked for something fruity with rum. Boy did the bar tender deliver! Yummmmmm!!! Great little dive! Will come back next time in town! Chicken Wings with garlic parm and the spiral potatoes are both amazing!!

This place has it all! Great food, great drink prices, and very caring staff. Plenty of room for groups and families. They have heated outdoor seating and additional patios open during warmer weather. Always have the game on and free live music on Thursday and Saturday, plus music Bingo on Friday and Sunday. Get to sing along and dance in your seat! Game room too’ Check out the daily specials. So good, they usually sell out by 2pm. Did I mention the weekend brunch? Oh. My. Yum. !

This was a cozy place for a roller derby afterparty. The food was good. The full menu looks pretty awesome, but they go to a reduced menu after 11pm. There is off street parking, and overflow street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. Service was friendly and good, especially considering the large number of us that arrived at the same time.

Tried to have a nice Father’s Day dinner with my dad. We sat out on the patio and the kitchen staff including our server sat a table close to us. All of them smoking and talking about how they almost got in a fight in the parking lot. Every other word was the “F” word. About as unprofessional experience that I’ve ever had our dining. Embarrassing

Never actually been into the restaurant only ordered through grubhub. Second time ordering and their grilled chicken sandwich is delicious as well as their burgers! Everything is always fresh and hot as I live right down the street the only thing is 1 of the burgers we ordered was missing but grubhub refunded us and we got everything else and everything was great! It's hard to find a place that offers a good grilled chicken sandwhich anymore so this place is awesome!

  • Sandy Gadient

Was recommended by a friend to try this place. Came in on Sunday night for dinner. Very busy place. Atmosphere was good. Took about 10 minutes to get a glass of water. I guess that is due to short staff. Waiter was very friendly. My husband and I both ordered fish and fries. Tasted good but the fish had not been drained of oil before putting it on our basket. It was swimming in a pile of oil, which made it soggy. We probably will not return.

  • Bill Fortner

This place is okay for a little neighborhood bar. They where so under staffed they would not serve anything off of the menu except pizza. But that is not necessarily their fault, it’s the way a lot of business have to operate right now. Pizza was not bad, pricing was okay as well. I will go back.

Tried it out as it is just up the road. We had the fish and chips. The fish was excellent, some of the best I've had in Indy and my only complaint would be that for the price, 3 pieces would have been better. Most places around town will give you 3 or more for the same price or less. The atmosphere was pleasant and the manager super nice. Regardless of my concern I will still go back. Probably will try the burger next time.

If new around here definitely ask for Bianca she won’t steer you wrong!

It was a very hot day I will start with that. I went for a birthday party and I really had a great time despite the heat. The layout of the bar is really cozy and has a great vibe to it. I will say it is better for smaller gathering of 6 or so at a time, although they do have different sections of the bar (bar, game room, out side seating). This is a awesome bar for sure worth more than a couple visits!

Friendly bar/staff. Tables are spaced to allow for social distancing. Food service is quick but yet good and not overly priced. Beer is cold!! When weather allows there is a nice covered outdoor patio with heater between tables. I am comfortable sitting out when temp is over 40. Wife prefers it to be over 50. ** we are only visit mon thru thurs either late lunch and early dinner.

Food was awesome, however the portion size was really small. This may totally be because of Doordash which if that's the case I'll change my review. I ordered the cheese cubes and there were 13 pieces. It seemed a bit expensive for the amount of food included. Perhaps my driver ate my food though which is really gross if that's the case though so I hope it isn't.

I finally made it to the re-opened Barringers Tavern and was not disappointed. It has a nice clean, new feel while still retaining a healthy dose of old soul. The building and staff are both friendly, and some local favorites are available on tap. Expect an expanded menu in a few weeks, but in the meanwhile give the delicious breaded tenderloin sandwich a try.

Cool little spot. The service could be better, however that seems to be a theme these days. We ordered the scorpion pizza. Service with a smile! Or, rather smiling eyes above the required mask. Patty melt was perfectly constructed. Breaded tenderloin was juicy and, in true Hoosier tradition, larger than the bun. Grilled tenderloin also tasty. Full bar. Outside seating with umbrellas. And free cookie Friday. This is the neighborhood tavern we all want to frequent.

The Double Bar Burger was way bigger than I thought it would be when I ordered. It was good, though. Also had the Southport Pepper Jack Balls which were tasty especially dipped in the homemade ranch dressing. A couple good local brews on tap as well. I gave the bar cat some water and she drank for about 5 minutes straight.

Oh what a good time.!!! My server Melissa was awesome. It was very busy , and we wanted for nothing. Excellent service. The food was good. The steaks could have been thicker. But all in all super nice place. Will return to see Melissa and open mic again. Till next time.✌️

We love the service here !! The pan made gravy is great! It's like your Grandmas cooking ! The fries are good also with lots of cheese options !! Edit when visited again and had lunch.it was great as always. Pics attached. We had the chilli cheese fries and chilli with a burger.

I've been ordering from them since the COVID-19 attack was first publicized as a virus. They were the local business I chose to support. Their food is delicious, and the proportions are a great value for the price. The staff are polite, and they have excellent customer service.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Food excellent! Boneless chicken - best I've ever had. Every food item is very reasonably priced. Portions plenty.Highly recommend Barringers. Two thumbs up

I was disappointed that they no longer have their Tuesday ribeye special. I ordered the fish and chips and it was good.

Great food and great service. I would take my family here or come watch a game. It's a great all around atmosphere. If you're in there ask for Stephanie Davidson. She is a waitress there and by far in my opinion the best waitress in Indy. You will not be disappointed

  • Colette Griffin

I placed an order for two of the delicious tenderloins ahead of time. When I arrived the staff was very friendly, restaurant clean and covet 19 protocol is being followed. Our sandwiches were still hot and delicious when we arrived at our picnic. We love Barringer's.

Very laid back, Very clean. Menu is good and atmosphere is just perfect. Service deserves more than 5*. You have to try the South Village Chislic. We had a good time playing revel round by Play Life Nation and enjoying ice cold beer. Owner is pretty awesome himself.

Go out of your way to visit this joint! Great food! Awesome staff! And they know how to pour a tasty cocktail. Hidden in the back is a pool table, darts, shuffle board, pinball and Foosball. Great outdoor atmosphere too! Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh I Love this Bar More

A great little "old school" tavern and restaurant. Owners Kevin and Tim made everyone feel welcome and the food was great. You feel like your stepping back in time when you come here. Just minutes off I-70 and Raymond St. on the near South side of Indianapolis.

  • Nathaniel Zarich

Welcome back to how drinking, eating and being social used to be. Delicious food, great people, killer scene and super affordable. The place is visually fascinating. I suppose I would say you won't find a place like this too often, so enjoy it anytime you can.

Stumbled on this place while I was in town visiting a friend. Totally worth the wait (bar was busy)!! Place was clean, food was yummy and our server Bianca was GREAT!! She was attentive, friendly and made us feel comfortable. Highly recommend trying them out.

  • Rob Chinook

No discernable management, or owners taking any part in the day to day operation of the business. Lacks structure. My complaint isn't toward the employees, but the way the place is run by ownership.

The atmosphere was great! The food- well that’s a different story. Some of the food was great. The tenderloin and the burgers were good. The fish was fine. The breadsticks- literally the worst I have ever had; however, the beer deals are unbeatable!

  • Jameson Terzini

Kevin, Jessie and their crew are awesome. Very cool place to grab a pint and some great food. They also carry my favorite Indiana craft brewery, Grand Junction Brewing Company. Highly recommend.

Been here a couple of times for lunch meetings, and I have yet to be disappointed. Friendly service, good food, and we've never felt rushed. Today's visit involved a deep fried, Bacon wrapped hot dog that's just about as awesome as it sounds.

Place has changed dramatically since 10 years ago. Its clean with good food nice staff. Its somewhere you can come on a friday night and shut down the bar and also somewhere you can bring your young family for a good meal (earlier on though).

I'm changing my post from 3 stars to 1 after the bartender text me to accuse me of being disrespectful by originally posting 3 stars. She bought my beer and I was unaware that required 5 stars from me. I am entitled to my opinion and will

My time at Barringer's was absolutely amazing. Time of service and quality drinks can not be beat for the madness constantly going around in Indy! Bianca was on top of every order and never failed to make sure I was taken care of!

  • Nate Diller

Great bar! Staff is friendly. Fun bad with a lot of space and games. Outdoor seating. Owners are often there. Neighborhood bar feel. They do trivia, live bands, and food specials. Not too expensive either. Great place to hang out

On my top 5 list of favorite bars now. It also has family dining, free arcade games and a pinball machine. The staff is always very attentive, friendly, and engaging. So happy that I stumbled upon this place and gave it a try!

Bianca is by far my favorite bar tender to visit in Indy. She has a heart of gold, always lends a listening ear, and makes a killer drink. Would frequent any bar she chose to work at and happy that it is at Barringers. More

Probably one of the best hidden gems of Indy. Since moving up here it's always difficult to find delicious food that isn't super expensive and a long wait. I love swinging by here and grabbing a good bite to eat.

Comfortable neighborhood pub. This was clean, the food was above average bar food. The service was great. We had loaded fries, it was a huge portion, presentation was misleading. They were so good! Ate them ALL!
