A tad lengthy, but worth reading before you consider going here- I went to this ER for a kidney stone. The attached image was my arm 4 days later. My wife was concerned I may get a blood clot and so I went back by the same ER desk to ask if someone could look at it, to make sure they did no major damage to my arm on the previous visit. This was all due to the administering IV nurse. They looked and said it would be okay, then billed me around $1,500 for stopping in. I was told by BSW billing not to worry and that it would be credited. Not only was it not credited, I had to file an appeal. Their "Patient Relations" team sent a letter which, in fairness, did accurately relay the circumstances of my visit. But, still concluded with them wanting the $. To paraphrase, "Yeah, you're not wrong. We did all that, but why don't you just go ahead and pay us anyway." I drove to the hospital again to find someone in admin, and ask him to explain what was happening. He emailed patient relations in a different location and they ignored him. I then had to file a complaint with TX's Health and Human Services Dept. They assured me BSW had to investigate this and respond within 30 days. That was over 3 months ago. I still have received nothing. And, since they can negatively impact your credit for nonpayment, I had to pay them. The cost of litigation outweighs the cost of payment, which is what BSW banks on. This is blackmail with diminished credit being the threat. I reasonably feel I was extorted by BSW. My family, all of whom had been treated by Dr's and clinics at BSW at some point, will not return. And, in the ultimate of ironies, my company's insurance agent recommended I move our company plan in '24 to a BSW health insurance plan. They actually have this. And, it costs less than the alternatives. I told them there was no way in hell I would subject our people to only being allowed treatment from them, and it was due solely to this incident. So, this is an exponential loss for them, due to their insistence on "shaking down" a patient as a result of their negligence. As we have told all family, friends, and employees...never step foot in a BSW facility.

First and foremost I was seen on time for check in and started surgery a hour early which was great! Besides timeliness I truly have never felt more cared for. I had a hysterectomy and my two nurses (Kim and Amy) asked me what my biggest fear was so we could talk about it. I cried as we talked about it and they were very compassionate. They told me what to expect pain wise and even asked on a scale of 1-10 at what point would I start taking medication. All of this made me feel like they really wanted to know the best way to take care of me. The anesthesiologist (Dr Yew) came in before surgery and explained the process but then again after I was awake he came back to check on me. I have had 4 previous surgeries at other hospitals and I had never been visited post op by my anesthesiologist. When I was brought into the operating room every person in the room introduced themselves and told me what their role was, I thought that was amazing. The hospital gave my husband text updates throughout my procedure which really eased his anxiety. My doctor (Dr Matthew Romberg) not only spoke to my husband afterwards but shared photos and went over in detail what was done, what to expect from me and what my restrictions were. I truly felt surrounded by people who wanted the best for me rather than pushing me through to fill the next bed. I could not be more appreciative to the care I was given by everyone at the medical center.

The absolute WORST Hospital I've been in! Only person at the ER check in was a security guard, I waited about 10 minutes until someone opened the ER door and asked if I've been helped. Being the only one in the waiting room my answer was no. The clerk got me checked in ( she was very lovely) I went to a room. The male nurse who took care of me (ha) needed to go back to school to learn bedside manner as does Dr. Schanen. I went in to get stitches that popped open and he told me they just need to be rewrapped up and walked out to never be seen again. Asking questions and not getting any answers from nurse or doctor. They didn't clean the wound, acting as if I interrupted their lunch or poker game. Whatever, I will let everyone I know plus you people who are reading this to please go to a real hospital. The place was empty and now I can see why!

This place deserves 1 star for a few sweet nurses. The rest of the care team (especially ER) were awful, incompetent, extremely rude and put my mom in grave danger. The place is completely empty and they’re acting like they have people lined out the door. When you go to the nurse station (after waiting 30 mins for the nurse to respond), they’re always there eating, on their phones and BS’ing with one another & are visibly annoyed of your presence. They discharged my mom way too early as we tried to convince them not to (this isn’t a hotel is what nurse Michele’s response was)-lovely, ya? Now we’re back at the ER at St David’s, where we should have gone in the 1st place, about to go into a second surgery for their failed job. Avoid this place at all costs.

Honestly don’t recommend going here unless it’s literally your last resort. I went in because I injured my head and thought I had a concussion and the doctor and nurse both were not compassionate at all. The nurse was very passive aggressive and the Doctor literally just looked in my ears and was like oh you’re fine. Anytime I would try to ask a question they would cut me off or talk to me like I was stupid. Also, I was literally the only patient there at the time that I went and they kept acting like I was disturbing their day. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because the guy at the front desk and registration was super sweet as well as the guy who did my CT scan.

Dr. Brooke Gurkin Leath is by far the worst GYN out there. Went in for extreme pain and was told that I "shouldn't worry about it" and "overexaggerating." She refused to do a pelvic exam or any type of testing on me as well as constantly interrupting me so I couldn't even talk about my symptoms. Two weeks later I was in the ER due to going into shock from losing so much blood and the pain. I was sent to a GYN who is incredible and immediately told me it was either endometriosis or PCOS after running an ultrasound. (Going back for more testing.) If you go to this place, be very careful of which doctor you choose to visit!

DO NOT COME HERE!!! My husband was referred to the ER by his Dr. once we got there and let them know what we were there for we were told to wait outside, the staff at the window was super rude i think I interrupted a flirting session, a nurse came out to speak to us and we were turned away NEVER have we ever been turned away from an ER especially with DR orders, iam soo glad we left and went somewhere else where they took my husband in right away and admitted him had we waited longer he probably wouldn’t have made it, this is the most un compassionate place i have ever stepped foot in!!! GO ELSEWHERE!!!!

horrible attitude (Emergency Department phone). i needed a PCR test, and this clinic was apparently the closest one on the map to have one. the first phone representative told me the Emergency Department was the only department open at the moment and transferred me there. The lady who picked up the phone just screamed at me : "why don't you get one at the CVS?" She didn't even ask me whether I am a patient before turning me down: THE PCR TEST IS FOR OUR PATIENTS ONLY. pardon me for one star, but this really upset me.

So, I've had my fair share of hospital visits throughout my adulthood and I must say that this has been one of the easiest, most seamless, smoothest and quickest ER stops I've ever had. I didn't have to wait AT ALL! Dr. Tobleman was very knowledgeable, made me feel comfortable and brought me back to life (not literally, but I was in A LOT of pain!) with ease and efficiency. I'm so very thankful for the friendly staff and the great MD that helped me out. Thank you, Baylor Scott and White!

Through all my unfortunate illnesses this year… (Covid, septic, full body rash, Covid again, and most recently really bad food poisoning….) Baylor Scott & White has been the best. The hospital is clean, and everyone I have encountered has been friendly and compassionate. I am so grateful to find an ER that I feel comfortable, safe to go to. I am so appreciative towards all of the staff and want them to know. They are doing a great job thank you!!

  • Kelsey Podell

Dr. Preedy is very kind and thoughtful and truly is concerned in regard to my health. She is the absolute best at providing me with excellent medical and physical care as I now have been in the ER with her twice. I work in healthcare so when I rave about a doctor, that doctor must be amazing! Thank you to Dr. Preedy and all the staff here for going above and beyond in my time of need! I am very grateful!

Worst place ever. Who had the bright idea of saying no one under the age of 16 can enter? What about us single parents with little ones? Whomever is the Director here really needs to think things through. Also, would’ve been great to know before hand so I didn’t have to drive all the way down here then I could’ve chosen somewhere else to go. .

No idea how to care for a critical patient. Hospitalist defensive when asked about care plan. Nursing staff too busy eating at the desk to help patients. Pt left in wet diaper for hours, no offer of bedside commode or help ambulating. No TED hose with 3plus pitting edema,” she’s just in bed anyway”! Who are these people!

  • Steffy Rose

I was admitted bc of my pancreas and it was all good until I got a gi doctor im in a lot of pain crying and can’t get me nothing stronger for pain bc the doctor said so I’ve never heard of that tbh it was my fav hospital until than is like what if im in so much pain something happens and they dont do shot about it !

  • Jeff Boren

Went in to their clinic for biometric screening for work, cholesterol fasting blood sugar labs. Doctor decided to with out telling me also test my blood for vitamin d and magnesium levels for no reason at all. Thanks for the three hundred dollar bill, wasn't covered under a regular physical. Terrible

  • A Porat

The staff the friendly and I’m happy to say I never waited too long for my appointments. Check in process is fast and efficient. The facility itself also looks brand new and clean. And today I learned masks are optional for patients. So the “masks required” signs are misleading

  • Raquel Tumm

Very satisfy with the attention from staff, very nice attention from Doctors, I'm very happy the way they treat my son that from emergency room till he got surgery of apendice. God bless you all, you guys are very organized, and your attention was overwhelmed.

  • EJ H

Landed at this ER in need of emergency surgery after calling EMS and I had a very positive experience. No one wants to go through such an ordeal but overall I was impressed with everyone's care and professionalism there

  • Mary Hanson

The staff was wonderful! You should offer healthier items at the cafeteria. Don’t you think you could do your part to save energy? It was so cold in the building your staff wears coats. I had to go outside to warm up.

  • Robert Wright

This is one of the best hospital that I have visited. My wife have been there twice and the care and professional services are outstanding. The ER is without a doubt the best in Austin.

  • Robert Penson

Had a broken arm, and the receptionist was so rude that I went to a diff hospital. Imagine his rude she’d have to be to make someone choose a diff hospital when they have a broken arm.

  • Cody Wright

I haven’t been to the ER in a long time and this was an excellent experience. Modern facility and fantastic staff made this an unwelcome medical emergency a lot better. …
