"The best book store ever"
Becker’s Books is a hidden treasure in the Houston, TX area. Make sure you have a full day set aside if you plan on visiting this bookstore. The experience reminded me of the movie, “The Pagemaster”. My cousin and I had the honor of being able shop at this establishment. We are both a little claustrophobic and this was a trying experience. However, I found several books I had been looking for. I will most definitely visit again and make sure I have a day solely devoted to Becker’s Books. This bookstore has been owned by the same individual for over forty years. It is overwhelming to say the least but the owner is more than happy to assist in finding a certain book or genra. The experience is one that I won’t forget.
This is the most amazing bookstore I've ever been to. It has the romantic quality that many modern bookstores don't have. It is packed from ceiling to floor with everything you can imagine, including rarer books and signed copies. I literally got lost briefly. I originally came just for a book signing but ended up staying an hour after just walking around and looking at all the interesting, unique used books they have. Additionally, they have the more popular books and best sellers, but the more bizarre selection is what made this place so interesting. This is now my go-to store. I'm absolutely in love. Best used bookstore in Houston.
This is such a magical store! I happened upon it by accident, and I'm so glad I stopped in. There are rooms upon rooms of shelves overflowing with books. There are collections of time magazines from the 1950s and rooms full of various genres. Just when you think you've seen it all, there's another room (almost as if the Tardis was a bookstore). The owner is very friendly and is justifiably proud of the store. The only downside is that due to the surplus, virtually the entire store is not wheelchair accessible.
This place is amazing! Went there with a friend and we had so much fun walking amongst the stacks of books, finding some to add to our collections and getting lost for a little bit in another world that felt like a fairytale land. And if you wish you had gotten a book but didn't, or can't remember the title, their website has an incredible search feature and you can even order and have the book(s) shipped!
The best book store ever. You must visit this unique store. You will fall in love it’s books and you can also check on line to see if they have your book . You can email them and they will mail you your book or Have it pulled for you. It’s better to just spend a half a day or longer and tour this awesome store almost a half a million books or more . It’s amazing . Becker’s Books yeah
It is a bookworm's heaven!! It is everything I ever wanted in a bookstore. Just shelves and shelves of books of all kind. Smells like old paper which is my favorite part. You might have a hard time finding a particular book because the books are placed almost randomly. Parking is very limited outside but still can hold 5-6 cars. I would definitely recommend this place.
Love this place. Quiet and full of books, including some rather difficult to find selections. My husband and I come here every so often to check out the new stock and we always leave with an armful of new reading material. Whoever is at the desk is always very helpful and nice, yet lets us peruse at our leisure. A hidden gem in Spring Branch.
An absolute wonderland of a bookstore! It has a very expansive collection and is a fun place to dive deep into different titles. Mr. Becker himself is a great guy and is always willing to help you with anything and make you feel at home. I sat on a sofa for 4 hours and he offered me coffee. Definitely has kept my business from now on. =)
What an amazing bookstore. I wandered around most every aisle, from art and architecture to religion and philosophy, and many other categories in between. The place is just chock-full of books, ranging from simple used books to leather bound and signed copies. If I lived in Houston, I would be here every weekend.
This place is such gem! It's easily my favorite Houston bookstore. I have visited the store several times and each time has been a wonderful experience. If you are looking for used books and an old school bookstore vibes, this is your spot. Thank you Becker's Books for keeping books alive and well in Houston!
I was awestruck when I walked in here. Its a real book lovers dream. Be prepared to spend hours in here. I wish I had had more time to browse. Im sure you can find just about anything among these books. If you love books I highly recommend going here. The owner was very friendly and helpful as well.
Becker' Books is more than a bookstore, it really is an experience. They have so much stuff to search through. The service, usually Ann, is always great, filled with stories and she's helpful in finding anything you might have questions about. Not many bookstores have the charm of Becker's.
Just moved to the area, this place DEFINITELY replaces my Half-Price Books I used to go to. There's a large collection of everything, including a healthy Sci Fi collection. This is now my main bookshop I'll always use. Don't go to Barnes and Noble, come here instead ;)
This is a quaint bookstore. It is a remodeled house with rows upon rows of books. You turn down one row only to find more to explore. It also has that amazing old leather and pages smell through out the whole store. Lots of hidden gems can be found at this bookstore.
Highly recommended! This is a superb, classic bookstore with a wide variety of books on countless subjects. Be prepared to spend some time here searching for literary treasure, the time invested is well worth the effort. When in Houston, this is a must see bookstore
At first, I thought this was a cute little neighborhood cafe. There's a big picture of Shakespeare and Einstein on the outside of window, both wearing masks for sure. Inside is like a maze. Best dating spot to meet Hemingway, 1920's unknown authors, and more!
Very easy to miss this place and drive past it. So make sure to pay close attention while driving. This bookshop is wonderful chaos. It’s not organized alphabetically, but rather by genre. The books range from modern to hard find antiques.
Are you looking for an experience? This Houston gem offers not only an enormous collection of books and ephemera, but also a connection to something leeching rapidly from this world. Bookstores, with people inside them, and actual physical
I love this place so much! I was looking for "A Weekend in September" and saw they had multiple copies according to their website. I went in, the lady at the front desk was very kind and helped me find the book quickly. My copy came with
This charming shop is a must visit for all Houstonians. Family-owned and operated, employees are extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. It’s a great place to peruse rooms of books at your leisure. I could have spent another hour
I always pass by and as a book lover it always intrigued me. Today I stopped by and the staff was rude. No one greeted me the lady in the front didn't respond when I said hello. A man putting up books didn't even acknowledge me. No one
Great place! Tons of books. Somewhat randomly spread out in a maze of shelves. Every visit is a treasure hunt so give yourself some time. I'm not kidding about the maze part you can get lost. Only open Thurs, Fri, saturday.
This place is amazing! It looks like cute house in an older neighborhood and then you walk in and its book heaven. The owner is super friendly and knowledgable. If you are a book lover this is definitely the place for you.
Becker's Books is a delightful find. There are books galore and incredible nooks to sit and read. I loved the feeling of being wrapped in books and hearing the creek of the wooden floor as I meandered around the store.
Becker's Books is a really cute locally owned bookshop! It can be a little intimidating due to the large selection they have, but if you're looking to go treasure hunting this is the place for you.
such a fun place! loved how many books there were. i can’t even describe just how many books were in this place— it was so full. the customer service was awesome, too. so friendly!
A real rare book store. The last one in Houston. I bought 3 books the other. The newest was from 1930. It is everything I expect a bookstore to be.
Loved this book store. So many books on anything and everything you can think of. Different languages, educational, fiction and many more.
Huge selection in the most charming place. You truly feel like you’re in a fairytale library. The most friendly owners too!
