I live near Hildebrand so this is my go to location for sweetbread (pan dulce). They don't always have a full selection these days in the afternoon on Sunday, which I guess is the best way to ensure that you don't carry old goods to the next day, but it still means I can't necessarily get an my favorites later in the day. That's but a big deal, by the way, because everyone they have really is good. Just with mentioning in case you are only after chocolate cake conchas or some other specific sweetbread that somebody else beat you to. I think their conchas are soft and light, their empanadas are perfect with a cup of pecan coffee in the morning, and their polvorones, cuernos and chamucos are some of the best around! Better prices and product than my beloved HEB around the corner (sorry, HEB. I still love you!) And better than other bakeries (panaderias) in the area. Si quieren pan dulce delicioso y no tan caro, deben que visitar a mi panaderia favorita! Esta panaderia es mejor que la michoacana, la popular, y muchas mas entre 5 millas de Bedoy's.

I'm new to the neighborhood & was recently recommend this bakery by a local resident, who has lived in the area for over 30yrs. Rating it solely on the variety of pasiteres I love that they open early and close late because I can stop by at 7pm or after my morning runs 7am. Apparently they have warm pastries from the oven at 6am when they open. I went once on a Saturday and there was line for their weekend special menudo. There are a few bilingual workers. I believe is predominantly spanish speaking business. The workers wear their masks which I appreciate. It is NOT a self serviced bakery, which I don't mind it. I saw that they have Valentine's theme cookies, cupcakes, and pink pastries. My favorite are the strawberry fillings. I love the conchas; pretty soft! Oddly enough they don't sell pink conchas ( I've seen brown, yellow, and white conchas). Truly recommend this location. Inside and outside is a bit run down, there's bars on the door but I'm a native Harlem gurl so this is like home✌

First off, which is my greatest concern, is that they provide utensils for the customers to select their items from the trays but when I set them on the counter to pay for them the cashier TOUCHED MY BREAD WITH HER BARE HANDS! And this is while she's ringing up the items. Touching the keys and then touching my bread. I don't care how clean your hands are you don't do this. It's disgusting. You use tissue or put some gloves on. Second the bread is just not good. I selected 2 pieces of different kinds of cake and they were rock hard on the outside. By this time I had already been sick to my stomach from the manhandling of my bread. This didn't help. Every other item I selected tasted as if I had gone to a greasy, dirty gas station to purchase bread. I don't know where all these reviews are coming from but I'm guessing you might not know what a good panaderia is supposed to be. Never EVER going back.

I was very impressed by the service of the staff and selection of pan de muerto ON Dia De Los Muertos. This year I decided to boycott "La Panaderia" in general and was pleased to find that Bedoy's has been in business for 60 years, making pan de muerto for San Antonio since. I was worried they would not have any as it was last minute but they had a large variety and it was freshly made. One of the workers even brought out two large pan de muertos for me to choose from. The price is a little high for a bakery, but it's standard, and the pan de muerto is well made. The staff was polite and even though they were busy still made it a point to welcome everyone, especially one lady who seems like's she's running the show, very courteous to all the customers.

walked in as the "newbie", walked out satisfied. I pick up barbacoa on the weekends and get tortillas as part of the combo, but rumor has it that Bedoys had the best corn tortillas. Being a picky eater, I tested it. tortillas were hot, great corn taste and most importantly...thin. just like tamales, you want them with a thin layer of masa. gives you more meat and better flavor. corn tortillas are the same way. Bedoys, you stole my taste buds, and until I find something better, Bedoys gets the 5 stars. oh yeah, they also have a plethora of sweetbread. they will have to really work to win in that department, cause I know spots that make your mouth water. Till next time...Adios Amigod

The best menudo I’ve had in a while, lots of meat cut into a good size and good amount of hominy. I’ve gone back a few times and I love that it’s consistently good. Recipe doesn’t change and that’s perfect. The corn tortillas that go along are also well made with a great corn flavor. Ladies are always nice, the service is fast, it smells great, and the bread amazing.

I’ve been eating pan dulce for easily 50 years. The constant quality, freshness and excellent taste always shines through when I come here. My favs are the concha’s which are so air fluffy and tasty and the pumpkin empanadas which are moist with just that hint of cinnamon. The prices , freshness and quality hands down are better than the stuff you’re going to get at the Mercado downtown. So take a little extra time and a trip to this spot for some authentic tasty pan dulce!

I’ve always had a hard time finding good panaderias in Dallas so when I passed through San Antonio I was lucky enough to find this diamond in the rough. Wow. Amazing. I recommend the conchas, hojarascas and marranitos. It’s not flashy. The customer service was amazing. I will be back.

Bedoys is a great Mexican bakery. I wish they had labels on things so you could tell what flavor is inside the many pastries. Done are pineapple, raspberry, strawberry, etc and the staff is usually limited in describing them. They also have barbacoa in weekends and great fresh baked tortillas daily. Free coffee with creamer and sugar but no Splenda it equal. Mexican Cokes etc in the fridges as well. Highly recommended. Open 7 days a week is also a great feature.

  • kat Davis

The bread was ok, but you could tell some of it wasn't fresh, which sjcks cause I remember they were always making their bread daily fresh. They didn't have any flor tortillas or bollios, and this was at 9 a.m. I asked the lady when they would have more she said she didn't know and she wasn't very friendly, kinda rude, like she didn't wanna be there or help the customers. Sucjs cause this place use to be great and the staff in the front were a lot friendlier.

  • Martha Leal

It was the first time we visited ;) we went for the sweet bread, so much to choose from - what we took IT WAS DELICIOUS. They have different food on the weekend!

Called ahead to ask for a specific sweetbread and if it was fresh, they said yes. Arrived to store from across town and they did not have that pan dulce and what they had was dry. Disappointed as I could have gone to La Popular which was closer... that’s what I get for trying to support bedoys. Don’t waste my gas driving across town I would have appreciated being told the truth, that y’all didn’t have it.

  • Christina Rivas-Tobias

While the pan dulce is consistent and yummy, i was recently met with a bit rudeness. I use my phone (notes) with everything from grocery list to appointment reminders. During my order, i opened notes to read my pan dulce list. I was told to "put away my phone" or remove myself from the line. Funny thing is there was no one else in tbe shop. I explained why i was using phone and met with the same response.

I work in hospitality and have used Bedoy's for some VIP clients. They're always affordable with a vast selection of fresh and authentic pan dulce. It's my new panaderia to frequent to give my clients a taste of Mexico We're blessed we have panaderias in San Antonio that carry those traditional faves like campechanas! Truly an enjoyable and customer centric experience.

  • Wan Wan L.

Friendly and fast customer service. Ample parking. I would have to say it’s the best Mexican bakery I have ever tasted in a long time. The empanadas and the conchas were very soft compared to other bakeries that I have visited. I think the prices were average based off the quantity of bakery that I purchased. I would definitely come back when in the San Antonio area.

  • sarahi arellano

I'm not sure why but the quality of the bread has dramatically gone down. In the past 3 times that I have gone all the bread is extremely dry (old bread like) and the flavors are all over the place. The flour tortillas are so deformed (holes in them)and thick. The flour tortillas from heb are way better. This is the last time I will go here.

  • Andrea Contreras

We were a lil hesitant to drive 30 mins (coming frm JW Marriott), but went ahead and gave it a try. By far the best pan dulce in San Antonio! We also tried the barbacoa and this too was amazing! The staff was very helpful and most importantly, friendly. Will definitely be back while in San Antonio! ! Thank you for you excellent service!

  • Benznet Support

It's a great place to grab some items to eat. However, I would focus more less on internal service. The way the front Spanish lady's treat the English lady in the back is very uncomfortable. I sure hope that the lady working in the back get paid way more then the Spanish ladies in the front cause they are very disrespectful to her.

We went towards closing time, the lady was very friendly but the bread was ok, I was expecting a lot better due to the reviews. They have a huge variety but didn't taste fresh it was like a couple of days old. It might have been the timing, but I wouldn't go out of my way unless I'm really craving it and I'm close by.

  • Eileen S Gonzalez

When the weather is rainy, cold and windy you can be sure they'll sell practically all the sweet bread. I didn't have much to choose from close to 5 p.m. but regardless the quality, texture and taste of whatever you choose is excellent. Have been a customer since they opened this location. Thank you excellent bakers.

  • Leticia Cederberg

When I come home to visit family, I make sure I take back sweet bread and cookies to Arizona to share with coworkers and friends :) I totally love this place. It takes me back when I was a child eating the white cake with pink frosting with a tall glass of milk and can't forget the cookies. I love the cookies!!!!!

  • Frank Ruiz

Struck gold here. Just from the aroma when walking in I knew I was in the right place. Cookies and pan dulce were what I've been looking for for a while. The bread had the right flavor with just the right amount of spice. Don't forget about the tortillas those were everything they should of been, great....

  • Ofelia Leos Pina

I’ve been pretty stressed out watchin’ all this crazy election stuff, so my girlfriend took me over to Bedoy’s and bought me a super-delicious lil’ sugar skull - and then, let me tell you, I felt a whole heck of a lot better! Bedoy’s Bakery, the best panaderia in all of ol’ San Antone, since 1961.

  • Bianca Moreno

The service was fine. I have been there a couple of times but I Feel like every cashier charges differently. This time I got charged two dollars for a chocolate doughnut. I was upset the donut was dry and hard and for two dollars?? Next time I will go to H-E-B where they charge $.80. More

My family and I have gone to this Bakery for over 20 years. It is one of the best bakeries in San Antonio. The pan is soft and delicious. Perfect for coffee with friends. They have a wide variety of pan dulce. The prices are good and its great if you get a lot. Always go back.

  • Jessica Saenz

They have nearly every type of sweet bread, including pink cake! I purchased a HUGE box filled with conchas, chamucos, campachana, cuernos, marranitos, empanadas, and all kinds of cookies. All the items were teaditionally made and absolutely DELICIOUS.

  • Amber A

Great little bakery, delicious pastries, pan de muerto, donuts, and more. Despite being super busy they were patient with me and all my questions. Not a lot of parking but I'm okay with parking on the street. Price was fair, definitely worth the stop.

  • Ellie May

I went on a Sunday morning. The customer service was great. Good sweet bread. Barbacoa not so good. It tasted like old grease. It was so disappointing. It's expensive. I never buy it, but that day I decided to get this rare treat for my family.

  • David Valenzuela

The place is so tiny that they only allow 5 people at a time in the store due to COVID guidelines. They should really put a more detailed selection where you can see it outside. People spend so much time hemming and a hawing over the selection.

  • albert marsalis

Bought donuts for the office and it was a little bit more than my regular bakery but not alot. They make up for it by having bigger pastries. And there of course are delicious. Office liked these a little more then my regular place.

  • Stephen Mathis

My favorite panadería in San Antonio. Love this place! Each sweet bread we tried was soft, delicious and rich with flavor. Their pumpkin empanadas are the best I’ve ever had and their bunelo is not too crispy and not over done with

  • Marry Lou Flores

I love this place... Great kolaches... Not traditional...a sweet Hawaiian style bread filled with diced sausage... Skinless...onions...peppers...yum...I also need a maranito that has a delicate gingerbread flavor and soft not

  • Roberto Ortiz

I went looking for "pan de muerto". The consistency and taste is just as an original in México. The cost was high compared with stores in MX, but I want to believe that is normal. They provided a nice service: polite and kind.

  • Venustiano Zaragoza

This place is an authentic GEM The baker knows exactly what to do, the precisely way to make good pastries, hope the owner of this bakery continue the good legacy of how to make good sweet bread, Congratulations. …

I had been looking for bakery around where I live until last week. I had some delicious pan dulce that I've been graving for some time. I would get it from the grocer but not no more. I recommend this place. …

  • Demetria AnaMarie Moreno

I have visited many bakeries in San Antonio. Aside from changing the colors of some pastries to match certain culture's there was no difference then the other bakeries. Shocking since recommend #1 in San Antonio.

  • Abelardo Rodriguez

This place is a must, especially in the morning. Their Mexican baked goods are so delicious. Then even have fresh glazed doughnuts that can't be beat. Try the capirotada and Washington cake....freaken delicious.

  • Gunoy Fortune

Nicest people that wait on you. Great quality in their traditional mexican pastries. Great bunuelos! Crunchy and delicious! Ground cinnamon stick in their bunuelos topping gives extra flavor. Reasonable prices.
