I am a regular here. I love the library. I regret to have to write this review for one bad staff. i visited your library like usual on Thursday March 17 at 19:30-19:50 with my son 2.5 yrs old and wife. My wife and I had sanitized our hands like usual upon entering. We were immediately stopped by your staff dressed in a long black cardigan with a cheetah pattern, wearing glasses, frizzy hair, a French speaking 5'4 Caucasian woman. She demanded that my son sanitize his hand as well. i explained that he is 2.5yrs old and she respond with aggression that it does not matter. her attitude had bothered me but we just followed her instruction without any retaliation. upon leaving, i had explained to her that a lot of places do not require toddlers to sanitize because they lick their fingers and the product is a chemical by product. i had showed her the label on the sanitizer bottle that indicates external use only. she shrugged me off with attitude and told us to get out. We did not escalade the matter and just left. i believe it is my duty to report bad behavior so whoever is responsible is aware of what is happening behind your back. demanding with aggression is unacceptable. just ask. its not like we didn't. demanding us to leave without an apology or even acceptance of wrong is inacceptable. We do not deserve any less respect than others. knowing that our tax money is spent on her and getting this sort of service is quite bothersome. I hope this report helps to better improve our experience in the near future and on.

A very modern library with great collections. We go there almost twice a month and the kids always bring home dozens of story books (novels, anime, comics, etc). They also have work or study rooms as well game-gathering room, and even a multi-media rooms that you can freely reserve. And don't miss this: they have a rooftop garden for you to sit outside and read books while enjoying the sun. They also have a mini theatre that could fit 50 people, where they give free movie events for kids. They have very modern design and decors, and they have lift between floors to accommodate people with disabilities. It's not the most quiet library you could expect, but the community could definitely benefit for many purposes! It's a must visit library. During summer they have the TD Summer Reading Club program and many cultural activities including jazz concerts on Wednesdays at 7pm.

It's a beautiful library. However, there is very little room for students to study. There are a few tables here and there, one silent room and two small private rooms (reservation only). I went there on a Sunday and had to leave because there was just too much noise (kids running around, adults speaking loudly, staff weren't really intervening). It's supposed to be a library, not a play area. There is a game room where you can make noise, people should go there. The other problem is because it's so open, you can hear all the noise, even from the second floor. It looks modern but is completely inappropriate for a library. I will only be returning there when there is less people and less noise. I'm utterly disappointed in the 25 million investment used to renovate this library. I used to go there to study all the time before they renovated it.

I miss the old library. It was quiet and had a separate area for kids and adults. The old library was a bit depressing because of the lack of sunlight into the building but overall, it was a functional library. I expected so much more for the current library but I'm just overall disappointed. The place barely has desks or rooms to study in. This library has so much potential if they would add more desks and study areas. There's a lot of echoing too; so if children are playing around, the entire library can hear them. There are also people with no common courtesy and don't treat this place as an actual library. I really hope something changes because I was really looking forward to having a nice library near home.

A year ago, I was told about this library, and I was exited to try it. I went today, and it was pretty terrible. I thought the point of a library was to read and study, right? Everything about this one was unfavorable to the purpose. People are talking like they're at a restaurant on the first floor, librarians included. The book selection was pretty limited and random. As for the actual ''study spaces'' there are maybe 6 spots on the first floor and even less on the second floor. Every spot was taken. the layout is pretty bad, also. I found a table outside, but there were animal droppings everywhere. Pretty gross. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. What a waste of time.

It is hard to rate this library. If you are with your children they will enjoy the first floor and the liberty to play they have, but you will get so many dirty looks from users because of the noise. The workers are very nice and helpful but not once I have seen them asking the teenagers to low down their voices. I have never found an “adult” space to sit down and determine which books to take. Don’t get me wrong there are sitting places just their disposition and style seems more suited for kids and teens. The ambiance is airy and lighting is fantastic. During summer is a pleasure to walk around the outside garden.

  • Purna Music

Beautiful, but inefficient. Teens upstairs in the study room screaming so loudly, running in and out (on multiple visits) and no staff handled it. Beautiful views to the outdoors with cushions on bleachers-like stairs, but people sit there making phone calls. Lack of tables, chairs, and only 30 minutes is permitted for internet use. If you want to use it longer than that, you have to log out of everything, log back into the system, open all your files again, go back to the websites, etc. Nice new cafe on the main floor. Whole building gets noisy as it's open concept. The old library was far more functional.

Study/Work tables are great. They are spacious. I've seen the maintenance people clean the table after a person leaves, so it is sanitary. A person can reserve a maximum of 4 hours per day. Tables 1 and 2 are facing windows as well. Tables 3 and 4 are facing a counter and are in the middle of library. Table 5 is facing a wall. Table 6 is by the window. Table 7 is close to table 6 but there is sufficient distance and they are both facing different directions from eachother. Reservations are made on the day of, or, at the earliest, one day before.

  • Kariman

-Beautiful and modern but literally has more cushions than tables to actually sit and study. -If you're on the first floor, brace yourself for children running around and screaming. -If you're on the second floor, beware: you can legit hear people flushing the toilet and drying their hands. -I've never been to a ''library'' that had this many employees, yet no one's intervening or making sure usual library rules are respected. -The only time when you should go is weekdays (in the morning); otherwise it feels more like a daycare/community center.

  • Pamela Dufresne

It is an amazing library, but impossible to work there since there's always kids screaming or people talking loudly. Even if you complain to the staff, they don't bother enforcing the rules. I go to libraries because I have ADHD and it's impossible for me to study at home or in a café because of the noise. So what's the purpose if even the library is a zoo ? People should learn basic social rules and not go there if they don't know how to be quiet or discipline their children. The library should not be like a playground or a community center.

  • Mist R

As others have mentioned, the library is very beautiful and clean, well mentained and well staffed. The problem though is that there is very few spots to actually study. There are a lot of random chairs but very few tables where you could actually study with a laptop and a bunch of notes and books open. Other than that, you'd have to study where people usually wall by which isn't ideal. The one in du Boisé still beats this one.

  • Layla-Maria Slim

The staff is excellent, however the library is very poorly equipped! The number of tables and study places are poor; no more than 15 small tables! It is very empty, furniture wise! The older library had more to offer, and was more comfortable. I would suggest to add more tables and study rooms since there is only one! Other than the lack of tables and work space, the library is very clean.

  • Mehrad T

This library should not be referred to as one. There are more kids crying and screaming here then at ToysRus. There are literally 7 chairs for people that want to sit and study in quiet, and then every other seat is super loud and noisy. Not a library! And on top of it all, they gave all entrances to staff and the furthest one to public. Genius! Huge waste of tax payer money

  • Lala ana

Horribly designed. Parents treat it as a place for free daycare. I had to leave because there were children slamming the giant chess pieces around and yelling while their parents watched them and never once told them to be quieter. I'm making the effort to go to another location as this one is a waste of your time as you won't be able to focus due to all the noise.

  • Famille Tankam

  • Alexander O'Brien

Brand new place and great for students, but very large 2 floors and have to get use to it. Not friendly help sometimes and sometimes they have not enough time to assist Seniors with the computer set up and schedule for computing, if your new visiting this library. Reception will improve with time for sure.

  • Zain M

The entire library has a very bizarre kind of layout because the bottom floor is primarily for kids and there's some odd "study spots" with wide open spaces with really small desks but there's constant noise and disturbance from the kid's section. At the top, there's hardly any desks or spots to study.

  • Abdessalam Ait Haqi (Abdel)

The pandemic situation limited most of the uses of a modern library, but before COVID hit, the library was very nice. Freshnly renovated, modern design, many more books than before, helpful staff, 3d printing lab, computers, study areas, silent study zone, team meating labs, a cafe and even a terrace.

  • Patricia Debeis

I totally don't understand the point of this new library. Yes, it's luminous but there's all this wasted space but not enough tables and it's noisy. Even beore the pandemic, my son wanted to use the makerspace but it was closed on weekends! Where's the logic in that? Bad management of taxpayers money.

  • Alexia B

  • Daniel Amico

Really pretty, but there is not enough tables to actually read and study, there are also not enough rooms. Parents treat it like a daycare, with their kids running around and screaming...not even reading with them. Doesn't feel like a library at all. The old library was more functional.

  • MICHAEL L.

The Pierrefonds Library is a state of the art learning facility that posses all the modern tools to make learning educational and fun. Our kids love going there and you can spend hours discovering this beautiful building and its content. A great place to learn and spend some time.

  • Victoria Savulescu

  • Osk

Newly renovated library that has everything you need. From private study rooms, quiet rooms, outdoor terrasses, Play rooms, computers, couches, pillows, wifi, etc. It has it all The library has a nice lay out and all the latest tech.

  • Vesna L

It’s extremely noisy !!! There will be babies crying almost every moment and no one is taking care of it! First time know that library can be like a outside market although the place for reading and books are good …

  • Dabris X

Super noisy, I have never been to a library that has this much noises. There are so many people working there but no one was making sure that the library rules are respected. People was even making phone calls in a study room.

  • Wilson Truong

clean and spacious place, but it isnt a place to study. Staffs during the pandemic are friendly. It became more of an entertainment center for kids than a library. Too much noice. It's missing tables for people to study.

  • Fsl Lsl

Great place to sit around and read a book, magazine, newspaper or surf the internet. To borrow you will need a membership card (free for Montreal residents). There is also a FabLab Inside. Many windows to see outside.

  • twisted

insane. all new. high tech. game room. bed of cushions to lay down on and read places. fuzzball tables. board games. chess. terrace on the roof. conference rooms. fabrication lab with 3d printers. just nutz.

  • Hicham kouzi

Great library ... so spacious ... so bright... it's like a perfect library..they keep adding new books ... loved the small playing room (always visit it with my son, would love to see more variety in that)

  • jean louisdor pierre

  • Diana Kasap

Love this place so much, the kids love to go to the library, that is very important to love reading from small age, building positive experiences. The siting area with the pillows is our favorite

  • Ashley Cunningham

One of the nicest newer libraries I've ever been to. They have a great children's area that my toddler loves and I bring my 1 year old to a weekly storytime (in english) and he looooves it

  • Yuzi Rocks Autism

Good place to read . To rent movies . Books for kids . You pay only if you need to print out papers . You can use the internet for every half an hour you must. Renew . Very good service .

  • JJ Junio

I always go here to study for exams. If you're planning to stay for a few hours, better get in once they open so you could find a spot. Wi-fi is reliable and people are nice and friendly.

  • Themis Forseti

It's now November 27th, 2016, & they've been closed since August 1st, 2016. I can't yet find a reason why on their front door, nor their website. All those books, just sitting there.

  • Tarah G.

Bright, modern and pretty but loud (kids and teens talking really loud and running around everywhere and staff don't care) and not enough desks to actually study. Bring ear plugs.

  • Maude Leonard

  • Victor

No computers or printers even though there website says they have them available. Staff was extremely dismissive and rude. What a waste of tax dollars this place is.

  • Matthew Olsthoorn

The renovated library is very nice. There are a few places that feel very empty, but it's likely related to covid. Large selection of books and friendly staff.

  • BeeBee B

Vibes Ikea!!

  • Greg Furholter

Beautiful new space and always friendly staff. The collection doesn't seem to be as large as it was before. Maybe that's just me. Great place to explore.

  • westsidejatt2

although the library looks nice, there arent enough tables. i must of spent 30mins looking for a place to sit and study until i gave up and headed home.

  • De puy De Dome

This is not a library,it is childs playground , too much noises of Childs, staffs speak loudly, just walk in to borrow a book and leave

  • Stefan Dalen

This library has the most consistently friendly staff, always willing to help. This is also a great quiet place for studying.

  • Nancy61 e
