"I had a great experience getting a service here"
Thrilled with the service received at this store. I purchased my Cannondale CAAD Optimo 105 2020 road bike online which meant it was put together at a factory and delivered to my door with only minor adjustments needed to be made by myself. After 270km on the bike I noticed gear shifting to become quite temperamental. I was conscious about taking my bike to this store as I hadn’t realised they offered servicing until I looked them up online. Rui (the mechanic) took one look at my bike and told me exactly what needed to be adjusted. They took my bike and within an hour I received a phone call to say it was ready. On my return, Rui spent time in the back of the store with me, explaining the mechanics of my gears and some further adjustments he can make (for no additional cost) to make my rides more efficient. He also showed me how to lubricate the chain and what different products I could use and when to use them. A gear service, a lovely mechanic’s personal time and advise as well as professional and friendly staff all for £15? I purchased the lubricant’s at this store rather than online because I was leaving this store feeling like I owed them far more than just the £15 for the time and professionalism invested in me. They really want to get to know you and your bike - thank you so much to all the staff at BFGC. I will be back again soon with an old bike to donate and a coffee for sure!
What a great find! Needed my new bike adjusting and the shop I bought it from online is miles away, plus they have a 3 week wait for any service issues - really frustrating considering it only needed a minor adjustment found Bikes For Good Causes on a google search, they were so helpful on the phone, they asked me to pass by for a quick look and I was up and running in less than 10 minutes. The people in there are really nice and extremely helpful and their prices are very reasonable. They refurbish and sell second hand bikes, they help a very worthwhile charity and the shop is run as a social enterprise, so it ticks every single box If you want your bike repaired, a second hand bike or new accessories for your bike you have to visit this shop, it offers good old fashioned service
I went for a servicing of an old cheap bike that needed almost everything serviced. For the same price I got a used bike that had been fully serviced that was better quality, with very good gear shifting parts and a comfortable seat, well under £100. And the mechanic still checked and tightened and maintained the new one before I took it home. So far it is working out very well. He was quick and honest. The servicing is cheap, as is the tyre change, and there is a cafe too. I highly recommend this place. They also recycle everything that is left there so if you are not sure what to do with the old stuff they can take it off your hands and make sure it does not go to the landfill, at least that is what I was told.
Every once in a while you find an ethical business that really takes pride in doing the best for their customers and the community. This is one of those! I am blessed to live around the corner and have gone in many times, for bike related stuff plus the coffee! I've bought a bike - absolutely amazing value and was like new- plus have taken bikes in for servicing. The staff are friendly, honest and know what they're doing. The prices are very economical indeed. As bikes are constantly being refurbished it pays to keep an eye out and eventually you'll find something great. A real gem of a place! I'll certainly be going back to them for anything cycling related. Would highly recommend.
I had a great experience getting a service here. I needed a new chain and a new cassette fitted (I had pre-bought), new front and back brakes (provided and fitted by the store), plus the standard check-ups and servicing. I got the full service for £45 and was charged just £10 extra for the additional stuff listed above. My experience with the high street chain stores would be that I would be charged closer to £100 for the required work. In addition, the previous service I got at Cycle Republic required me returning to the store two further times to get sub-standard servicing corrected. With BFGC, my bike was perfectly tuned. Will definitely be returning next time.
I was so excited about going to select my new bike. Got to the shop to find the door locked. The man opened it and I said I wanted to look at the bikes for sale. He stood in front of the door so as not to let me in. He said the bikes in the shop were repairs and only the three on the wall were for sale. I had to crane my neck to see them as he basically didn’t want me to come in. He said more bikes are delivered on the weekend but his attitude was so disgusting I resolved not to return. Went to the lovely couple at driving force instead who have great customer service and a wide range of bikes. Would not recommend this bike for good causes shop at all.
I finally had people who I could trust about my bicycle. They are professionals in the full sense of the word, friendly and very important they are realists because they do not want to just spoil goods and / or service, but they want to find the optimal solution for you. I'm not from the UK, I'm a migrant, and after a hard search I came across them and I trusted them, and I was not wrong. Everyone who reads here recommends that if you need to trust this team, they understand their work and do it conscientiously. I would like to say a huge thank you to this team, I'm glad there are people like you.
The woman inside the store was really helpful and kind every time I went in. However, I'm sad to say a man in there gave me one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever encountered. He was impatient with me, did not give me any advice in helping find a good bike to buy and was on the phone whilst serving me. To add to this terrible help he also questioned me when I stated what type of bike I wanted. A real shame considering i wanted to support the great business model this shop supports but this man ruined my experience completely. The two stars is purely for the woman's great service.
Booked in with these guys on recommendation from a friend after a horror-show trying to book in with Halfords. I phoned BFGC and they gave me a date 3 weeks in the future as they are currently very busy due to the increased popularity of cycling in the wake of COVID-19. Dropped my bike in on the agreed morning for a basic service and to address issues with the brakes and gear ratio - had it back by lunchtime all sorted. Very reasonable prices compared to local competitors or big brands and a great cause to support. Learnt my lesson and will be taking my bike here exclusively from now on.
I went into your shop 3 weeks earlier. The gentleman opened the door, let me in and told me that everything on the floor is repair and on the wall he had 3 bikes 1100 pounds 500pounds and something in between. I find it wierd for a shop like that to not offer something at 120, 150 pounds, also to have 15 bikes for repair and 3 for sale. I also found wierd that the gentleman gave me the same response like the person with the comment below me. In the end he told me to come Friday because they will receive some stock. Obviously I never came back and I got an ebike from the internet.
Mixed Thoughts. Went in initially as needed new pedals and a brake tune up which was carried out at a reasonable rate and price. The brakes don't seem to be the most efficient but I think that might be the bike more than the mechanic! Second time round wanted to get some new tyres fitted and an inner tube replaced and told it would be 3 business days at the earliest....so went to the shop opposite and they did it straight away. Very nice people at Bikes for Good causes though, perhaps a victim of their own success!
I dug out my old Trek bike after years in the shed. It was in a bad state. This shop and staff a wonderful. Kind and professional. On collection my bike was transformed. I was amazed at how good it looked. Prices are great too with snacks and drinks available. My opinion is that it's the first place to go for minor repairs. Servicing. There are revamped bikes for adults and children at great prices. Reliable and honest. 100% recommended. Thank you for wonderful experience. Kind regards. Joanne
Waited over 3 weeks for a simple spoke-repair job, which in the end couldn't be completed because they didn't have the correct tools for it. And before that their mechanic had an injured hand, which I understood to be unfortunate. What I could not understand however was how a bike shop can have only one mechanic working in it? Prices are reasonable in there; the wait time is anything but reasonable. Won't be returning.
I support this shop and the cause. Bought an awesome bike at good price years ago. Great for 2nd hand bikes. Took it back for work recently, chain was comming off too often. Mechanic didn't know about some options that would have fixed it cheaply like chain guides and grippy chain rings, and was a bit short because they are very busy. They took honest feedback about this well. Bad days happen. Would still recommend.
Fabulous service. It's lockdown but I needed a new chain and maybe a service. The friendly voice said 'bring it in!'. One customer at a time (but there wasn't a queue). Turned out I needed a new chain and cassette, plus a a couple of brake pads and I had two broken spokes! No problem. And a very reasonable bill. Considering they were really busy it was ready in two days Lovely chaps, thanks so much.
What a wonderful shop. I would highly recommend bikes for good causes. I bought a bike and accessories there today. It was such a great experience. I tried out two bikes cycling round the block. Darren kindly changed the seat on my favourite bike making it fit me perfectly. I also got a kickstand and lights fitted. I left feeling super possitive. Thank you so much bikes for good causes!
Went in with a puncture with my Brompton. They fit me right in and replaced the inner tube while I enjoyed a nice coffee within the shop. Not only did they replace the inner tube, but I discovered later when I started to ride the bike that the issue what I was having with three of my gears had been addressed as well. What a pleasant surprise. I would definitely recommend this place!!!
Excellent general service of my old bike - it came out looking new. Good price too (compared to my usual places I go to in Muswell Hill and Crouch End. Will come here in future for both price, value and friendly service. One small point - there's quite a long waiting time to get a booking for a service or repairs (I waited ten days) - could you hire another apprentice?
Fantastic local bike shop. Really knowledgeable and friendly service - none of posturing you can sometimes get at other shops! Prices are incredibly upfront and reasonable too, and they've been really great with Covid protocols too, and always wearing masks etc. Massively recommended for all your day to day bike needs.
Really great project with friendly, knowledgeable staff who are happy to spend the time with you to make sure you're happy with the right bike. I tried out a couple and came away with two bikes for £150. It was worth travelling across London to visit. I wish I lived closer as the coffee smelled great!
I took my new bike there for a check to see if it as safe for the road, I was going to be away for a few days so they set it up for me that afternoon. Then recently I wanted to move the lock and add a new bottle cage, they did it there and then and for no charge. Great people, lovely community shop
Great staff, great place. Bought a bike for my son from the shop but the bolt at the back of the bike didn't fit the stabilisers I got him. Took it back to the shop and they fitted the new bolt and the stabilisers for a great price. Top notch people. Remember to donate your old bikes everyone!
Truly amazing bike shop! The prices are really good and the service is amazing. I have been to so many bike shops and I recommend this bike shop to everyone. The staff are so nice and know exactly what they are doing. They have a great selection of bikes too if you’re looking to shop for one.
Took a VERY neglected bike for a full service to get it back on the road. Couldn’t believe how reasonably priced it was. Also purchased new helmets and lights for my kids and even came away with a free second hand mudguard for my son’s bike. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. 10/10
Excellent shop. Took my bike for a full service there a few months ago and they did a fantastic job for an amazing price. They talked me out of spending more money than I needed to (how many times does that ever happen in a shop?). I'll definitely be back for servicing in the future.
Honestly one of the best places ever! So friendly and helpful and such a brilliant social enterprise. Great range of bikes at fantastic prices and staff really help you to find the right thing. They’re also brilliantly stocked with all the bits you need to get cycling! Love it.
Thank you to PFGC. The team serviced my road bike very well and less than half of what my local bike shop would have charged me. I found Leroy and Sue who I dealt with face to face very friendly, professional and a pleasure. Thank you. I will recommend to friends and family.
Just visit this brilliant place for all your cycle needs. You won't be disappointed. They rock! (And their really cool accessories including funky t shirts and rocket dust caps are a must have for all cycle geeks like us!) All for good causes too, how could you not?
Best bike shop in the city. The staff is very friendly and always happy to help! They are reasonable and the work they put into fixing the bike is astonishing! I have been a costumer there for years now and I've never had a disappointment! Highly recommended!!
Very helpful, bought a bike for my adult son (very reasonable price, probably 20% of new) that needed some adjustment (new, lower saddle) after a week or so. Shop did it, no quibble and free of charge. If I need to buy another bike, this is where I'll go.
Sue and the team are amazing x just keep us on biking ♀️ fixing things as cheaply as possible just what we all need. Thanks for fixing my son’s saddle just before closing today he carried on cycling after just brilliant thanks so much Jenny …
THIS SHOP RESELLS STOLE BIKES, whether they are aware or not. Check the bikes you buy from here. They sold my bike for 200£ some months after it got stolen from me. My bike was a custom made fixie and it is still identical to when I bought it.
This place is great, everything you want from a local bike shop. Super accommodating, honest, thorough and quick! Sue is amazing, great attitude and perfect customer service. If you want an easy experience at a great price, look no further.
Total and complete con artists motivated by greed. The words, "social enterprise" to, Bikes For Good Causes just means the hardworking and underprivileged technicians do all the hard work in the back, whilst the owners pocket the profits
Couldn't recommend this place more, unbeatable prices and top quality service. Staff is professional and knowledgeable, finally some people you can trust. I made all my way up to North London to find a bike and it was so much worth.
Newbie cyclist, visited Bikes for good causes to get a lock and helmet, the gentlemen in the shop gave great advice and even adjusted my bike for me. Will defo visit again and look forward to their coffee shop opening.
Faith. If there's one word to ise to sum up my experience of this place, its faith. Great service, no hard sell, they save you money and most importantly, do what they say their gonna do. I fully recomend this store.
We LOVE this place!! Just traded in my son's bike ( also bought from here) and got myself a new one. Sue and the team are wonderful. Really listened to my needs and hey presto! It's our go to place. Just delighted!!
I had a lovely interaction with this buisness yesterday. They quickly serviced my bikes breaks, was told it would be ready the next day but it was ready the same day, super quick and very nice people. Thank you
This place is a gem! The lady is so lovely and helpful! They took my bike and fixed it on the day, even though they were so busy. Price is also very reasonable. So glad I found this place, would highly recommend
Excellent service, very polite and knowledgeable. Needed to buy replacement bikes for our children. We managed to get them both at a reasonable price. Thank you for the brilliant service and the lovely coffee!
Bikes for Good Causes worked some magic on my bike that I can’t put into words. They’re so incredibly helpful, kind, friendly and knowledgeable and will go to them from now on with any bike issues. Thank you!
Called up to see if a bike service is available while you wait and the guy was really rude and short with me. Made to feel a total idiot when calling with an honest question. Not great customer service...
Great service provided by trustworthy and knowledgeable people who are seriously passionate about what they do. They also do coffee and tea at super reasonable prices. Such a jewel for the community!
Great service, the staff are very friendly and know what they are doing and are will help you with a smile on their face. highly recomended. Great place to get your bike checked out or fixed.
Fast and professional service, friendly staff and a beautiful looking shop with delicious coffee. All in aid of a good cause! I would recommend these guys every time. Thank you BFGC.
They did such a fab job servicing my road bike. Staff are always really friendly, prices are great, quick turnaround, high quality, and an amazing social enterprise. Perfect really!
I had my bike serviced here last week. Fantastic! A good price for really thorough work and I've never seen my bike look so clean!!! Friendly and helpful staff. Really recommend.
Very friendly staff. Adjusted my bike in a very short time and gave much appreciated advice. I would recommend them to anyone who needs to get their bike adjusted or repaired.
Just picked up a fabulous bike for a decent price. Staff are lovely, helpful and knowledgeable. Tried a few bikes out around the block, and left with a cracker. Thanks guys!
Can’t recommend this place highly enough - great value bikes sold by friendly & knowledgeable staff for a very worthwhile cause. Am delighted with my Falcon Camargue!
Bought a nice second hand hybrid here that works a treat. The lady was very helpful when i was choosing the bike. You get to test it and it's also for a good cause
Lovely shop. Both times I've been here Sue was really helpful and friendly. Sorted out my gears today and my bike rides perfectly again. Definitely recommend!
