During a recent trip up the I-35, my husband and I decided to make a pit stop at the Black Bear Diner in Fort Worth Alliance. Anticipation was high as we stepped into what can only be described as a cozy, cabin-esque retreat, bustling with activity. Despite a longer-than-anticipated wait of 30-35 minutes, we opted for counter seats and were promptly greeted by Caroline, our server. Her attentive and friendly service was a highlight of our visit, enhancing the overall dining experience. The menu, extensive in its offerings, catered to a variety of tastes. My husband, an enthusiast of breakfast-for-any-meal, chose 'The GRIZZ' - a hearty platter featuring sweet cream pancakes, eggs, smoked bacon, sausage links, a smoked ham steak, and a side of biscuits and gravy. Meanwhile, I succumbed to the allure of a classic Reuben sandwich. Presentation-wise, the dishes were inviting. However, the taste and temperature of the food left something to be desired. My fries were disappointingly cold and lacked the expected crispness, and the sandwich, while flavorful, was sparingly dressed with Thousand Island, diminishing the overall taste. The corned beef, however, was a savory delight. My husband's breakfast was satisfactory, according to him. The pancakes, though flavorful, suffered from a slightly doughy texture, falling short of the fluffy ideal. The bacon was substantial and well-flavored, but the biscuits and gravy, though tasty, were served cold - a letdown for such potentially delightful dishes. The hashbrowns, described as rubbery and likened to grilled sliced mashed potatoes, were a particular disappointment. On the brighter side, the eggs were perfectly cooked, and the ham steak reminded us of familiar flavors from the past. The pricing was reasonable, aligning well with the quantity served. While the ambiance and service were commendable, the inconsistency in food temperature and some textural mishaps lead me to give Black Bear Diner a 3.5-star rating. Caroline's exceptional service nudges my review to 4 stars. I believe with improved attention to food temperature, this diner has the potential to fully satisfy its patrons. In summary, Black Bear Diner offers a charming atmosphere and a vast menu that promises much but needs to ensure that the quality and temperature of the food match the high standards set by their service and ambiance. Came here on 12/22 with my husband, waited about 45 minutes. The waitress was pretty much non existent since she dropped off our drinks. It took a long time for our food. When it did come our food wasn’t hot. We received bits and pieces of our order after waiting about 30 minutes. The manager was nice enough to replace my potatoes because they were cold and looked horrible. She was nice enough to give us a percentage off of our bill. I thought maybe because it was busy that’s why the service sucked. On 12/26, today I thought I’ll give it another try and order some breakfast to go. The pancakes were good but they were sweeter than the first time, so sweet that you wouldn’t need syrup. Sausage was ok, eggs were horrible. I ordered a side of hash brown and I couldn’t believe what I paid for. I wouldn’t even feed this to my dog if I had one. Idk what’s the deal with this place but today was my last time ever coming here. This is unacceptable, why would you serve anything that look like this. I will gladly continue to go to my cafe.

First timers at this new diner. Overall, we weren’t impressed. It’s okay but we checked it off our list for the future. When we arrived, the jukebox box was blaring and you couldn’t hear the sweet, young lady at the hostess stand when she was whispering to you. Someone finally requested that it be turned down. We witnessed 2 parties coming in and get on the list after us and getting seated before us (same Size parties). We were seated in a booth near the restrooms and my husband was where he had a constant view inside the women’s bathroom able to see everyone going into their bathroom stall the entire time he was eating. Just weird. The service was great. The portions were big. My husband’s breakfast was fine - no complaints. My chicken fried steak was a frozen thing that they pulled out of the freezer and heated up. The texture was gross, and I lost my appetite quickly. Being that I am a Texan that loves chicken fried steak, this is not the place to get one from. We were there 1 hr 45 minutes.

First off, If you are using Siri to find this location it will take you to the Outback parking lot. You will need to turn right at Heritage Trace and the location is on your right. We arrived at lunchtime and the place was packed, which is always a good sign. We opted to sit at the bar to avoid waiting. Our server was super nice, but it took some time to get our drinks and order our food. I ordered the Grizz and it was a ton of food. The eggs were great and the sausage and ham steak were very good as well. The bacon was a little overdone for my taste, but my wife loved it. We were also not a huge fan of the style of hashbrowns. My pancakes were amazing, but I could not finish them. My wife ordered the 2 eggs and biscuits and gravy combo. As you can see from my photo the biscuits are huge. Her eggs were good and the gravy was great as well.

We’ve come to BBD a handful of times and always had great experiences (waitress Sydney, we love you!). The food is always delicious and promptly delivered to the table. However today we had a pretty disappointing experience. We waited approximately 5 minutes not only to be seated but for a staff member to address us. Many staff members from the bar area, register, and general dining area made eye contact with us but did not address us. This normally wouldn’t bother me seeing as BBD is usually pretty busy. However today around 3pm business was slow and there were employees in every direction either sitting down by the bar, on their phones, or talking casually with each other. It was pretty frustrating making eye contact with so many people for several minutes before anyone made an attempt to address us. After that our experience improved.

Seated quickly. Waitress was nice. Food came and order was wrong (ordered bacon, got bacon and saisage. Normally not a big deal). Eggs were basically raw inside, we ordered over medium. We were given another tables ticket. We let the waitress know. She came back with the same incorrect ticket, but with pricing adjusted to "match our original ticket". The amount made sense so I was ok with it. When checking out, I wasn't paying attention, and used their automatic 20 percent tip option on the pad. This tipped on the FULL amount of the incorrect ticket which had much higher total than ours. They ended up getting a close to 30 percent tip. In the end my fault, but definitely left us feeling underwhelmed with the entire experience.

My fiancé and I went this morning. We were told a 25-30 minute wait and we got a text our table was ready after 6 minutes of waiting. The hostess did seem a little scrambled and not overly friendly, but it was busy so we figured it may just be stress. When we sat down our waitress quickly came and took our drink order. She was very friendly and gave us time to look over the menu for what we wanted for breakfast. She continually checked in on us making sure everything was perfect regardless of it being incredibly busy! I got the breakfast sliders and my fiancé got the Denver omelette and we both got country red potatoes. Everything was absolutely fantastic!!

Ordered take out tonight at the front desk. Hostess wasn’t super knowledgeable, which is understandable being new. However when my order was done I checked my bag and my pancakes were missing. No biggie. But what I watched after that……. The young woman who took my order went over to the expo station where she proceeded to aggressively rub her nose and mouth and wipe it on another’s server’s shirt. I cringed. From there it was an observation of the most unprofessional behavior I’ve ever seen infront of customers. Grabbing each other, and leaning in super close to one another. Just weird. The manager paid no mind. He saw this behavior and kept cruising. I guess that’s black bear. First impressions are everything. I hope you get this behavior corrected because the food is pretty good.

We really enjoyed this spot! Mostly, we were pleased by the fun and even kitschy (in a good way) atmosphere. Most new restaurants all have the same industrial look so this was a fun change of pace. With newspaper menus to complete the experience. Food was good standard dinner fare. We were also very impressed by the friendliness of all staff and the accommodations for families (high chairs, baby car seat swings, and boosters).

Respectfully, the staff was great, very attentive and all smiles, what more could you ask for. As a chef, the food left something to be desired. Ordered a bears choice because I was sent a coupon on Facebook and honestly wish I hadn’t claimed it. Ham steak- dry and tough. Eggs- severely undercooked for an over-hard egg. My god. Worst part- Biscuits and Gravy, honestly the worst I’ve ever had. The biscuit, while size was insanely amazing to me, was drier than the Egyptian desert on a cold summer night. Like did you just serve me a two day old biscuit? I swore it was failling apart to the point where my fork couldn’t handle it. The gravy made up for it when I cut it in half and just ate the top.

Black Bear is new to the area. I was hoping for something different we arrived right before the morning rush, Our server Syndey was the best part of the visit. Coffee was served cold, not warm at all, which she corrected for us. I had 2 eggs over easy with bisquits and gravy with thick sliced bacon. Bisquits were hugh crusty on top and fluffy on the inside with a little gravy on top, I like them smothered. Thick bacon, naw. I get thicker slices from Wright Brand at the grocery. The atmosphere there was good and the place was nice and clean. Maybe we will give the sweet creme pancakes a try later on.

We were seated and had to wait for over 10 minutes before being waited on. Turns out we were seated in a closed area (right by the door). We ordered and never saw our waitress again until we were finished eating. We had to flag a manager down for silverware and our kids’ bacons were missing. My husband enjoyed his Western BBQ burger. I had the BLT with avocado and the avocado saved the sandwich. There was barely any bacon on it at all. Fries were mediocre at best. Our girls had the bear cub pancakes which they didn’t even finish. The hostess and my waitress were the brightest spot of my visit . I had to wait at least 15 minutes for my waitress to wait on me. But she saw too my every need. I would give Caroline a 10 star rating.. The music was too loud and a lot more noise was coming from the kitchen area. I wear hearing aids. I even had them turned all the way down. For what I paid for my meal. I expected my chicken fried steak to be a little bigger. But the garden salad more than made up for it. It was a meal by itself. I will go back once in a while. The service wasn't great as my wife and I sat at our table for a good while till someone noticed us. The food was just ok. I got a breakfast item and the pancakes had an odd texture like they hadn't been cooked all the way, but also like they had been sitting around till they came out. The bacon had an off flavor and could've been cooked a little longer. The ham and sausages were both lacking flavor. My wife got the meatloaf and said the best thing on the plate was the veggies, which came in a plastic bag before the server noticed and dumped them out. My wife did like the banana pudding.

First impression is a lasting impression, they failed. Got my Order to go , it was missing the soup , sausage links , and corn beef hash. All that added up to $18.26 , which wasn’t the worst part. The worst part is getting home without food for your family and then giving them your food and going hungry. Beware, when you tell them. I asked for extra crispy bacon, and that was the only thing I wasn’t happy about food-wise. The food was good! It would probably be better had we dined in, but my boys and I had a car picnic. My wife and I visited 2 times and were stricken with diarrhea both times from their breakfast. Decided to chance it a third time with lunch. This place has an outstanding breakfast. We've eaten at the Houston location multiple times and are extremely happy to have one in North Fort Worth now. This location is just as good as the Houston location with the same flavor. They do serve lunch and dinner, but we've always had breakfast, which is great. This place is awesome . I've had a few dishes and everything has been spot on until I tried the chicken fried steak and eggs. 10000/10 absolutely recommend! Our waitress, Lindsey, was amazing! Super sweet and attentive. The food was delicious and they are generous with their portions! We cannot wait to go back and bring the rest of the family with us.

We weren’t the least bit impressed with the the food. Service was okay (in a Waffle House sort of way) but the food wasn’t good. Not even a little bit and especially for the price point. It’s like an upscale version of Dennys but with some weird stuff going on with the food. Maybe the California transplants will keep them going

Came here for a sneak peek on Sunday and am so glad we did!! The staff was very welcoming and our waitress was amazing. Good sized menu with lots of options. The food was out super fast and everything was delicious. Very generous portion sizes and the prices are very reasonable. We will definitely be back!

We had an amazing breakfast here, maybe the best thick cut bacon I’ve ever had. We received excellent service from Sydney who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. Highly recommend!

So glad we got one near home as I used to only be able to enjoy these diners during my regular business trips to Houston. Large size servings from a diverse menu. Good coffee, too, which is lacking from many breakfast diners. Love the Pacific NW forest atmosphere of the place.

We were excited to give this place a try. Once my family and I were seated we waited about 20 min for a server. No one came. Manager walked by a few time and noticed we were frustrated but did not approach us at all. We walked out and decided to have breakfast else where.

No complaints about the food but this is the smallest black bear diner I've been to. I a bit of a bummer how they laid this one out. These places are usually larger. Expect a good long wait and 0 parking but the food is good and service.

This is the third location I’ve been to. They have all been great!! The only place that actually knows how to cook extra crispy bacon. Love it and so happy to have one close to home.
