We’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars chasing down a major leak on our building in the last 3 years. Finally we narrowed it down to the rotting cornice and lentils in the front facade. I got four bids and four different characterizations of what needed done from the four big companies around LakeView. Finally I spoke with a broker friend who recommended Chris at Bluesky. Chris showed up on time and presented himself and his company very professionally. He walked me through what he thought the issue was and I received a quote promptly and it was broken down by each action with additional charges should they need to do additional work. The Basic quote was several thousands of dollars less than the others but with the additional work came out to the same as the lowest quote we received and about 6 thousand less than the highest quote. We went with them crossing our fingers. When they got into the project it was readily apparent they would need to do the extra work which I was fine with (I’m in construction myself and once he showed me what was wrong I agreed with him on the best course of action). The workers were all very professional and to my delight they didn’t damage any of the emerging landscaping. The previous contract basically destroyed it last year and I was furious. The work was completed quickly and on budget. While they were working we discovered more leaks in the rear part of the building and had him quote us for repair. That price was incredibly reasonable compared to what we’ve had done in the past so we gave him the go ahead to do it. Both repairs seem to have finally solved our issues. Again, we’ve been chasing this down for over three years. The weekend after completion we had a terrific rainstorm and everything remained dry! Our owners are thrilled that there is no more water in their units. The original project was a big job, about $25k to remove the cornice and replace with brick and change 11 lentils. The second job was much smaller involving the flat roof and sealing. So I can heartily recommend Bluesky for any size job you have. Thanks for finally solving our problem. I will never work with anyone else.

Blue Sky was AMAZING! Seriously, I was DREADING having our roof replaced because we'd let it go for too long, had several leaks that were wreaking havoc within our house, and knew it was going to be a big job. But Chris stood out from the start, took time to answer our (many many) questions before signing the contract, gave us a competitive price (we had two other estimates) and kept us updated on the timing of the project. Once work began, Paul led the on-site team and they were very responsive to any questions or concerns we had each day. For example, we have a grumpy neighbor who wanted to make sure everything in common walkway areas was clean, and the Blue Sky team put down dropcloths and clean and swept everything up each day, returning the areas to better and cleaner than they were before. We never heard from the neighbor again (which is rare/never happens). We have a flat roof and had Blue Sky do a complete roof replacement, complete coping tile replacement, significant brickwork on a few sides, installation of a roof-deck layer in case we decide to build one in the future, and complete gutter and downspout replacement and installation. Everything was done so well, and we couldn't be happier. (And I am the Type A daughter of a perfectionist engineer who is usually never happy with anyone else's work.) I wrote this in case there is anyone else out there like me who literally gets a nauseous pit in their stomach at the thought of a huge undertaking like this. We've had some disastrous experiences with other contractors before so I was truly nervous, but Blue Sky has restored my faith that there are still some really good companies out there. Could not recommend them more highly.

We had a roof leak under our rooftop deck. Blue Sky did some work in the past for our condo association so they contacted them again. Chris came out and inspected the roof and prepared a very thorough itemized estimate. We were splitting the repairs between us and the condo association. The timing of the work was tough on us as it was raining a lot and we were seeing more damage to the interior ceiling. Chris recognized this and sent out 2 crew-members to inspect and see if they could put a band-aid on the problem. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be, the roof was in such disrepair so they really couldn't do much. When the work was started they worked very fast and were very punctual and made sure the interior spaces were kept free of debris. My desk is right where the roof repair work was being done so I could visually watch the new roof installation. The repair work went very well and the crew was great. We also had the old deck removed and a new deck installed. I can see why our condo association used them again, they really knew their business. The deck was installed with screws instead of nails so we don't have to worry about nail pops anytime soon. I will offer one minor annoyance...when they applied the silver protective paint they tended to slop it around a bit. In other words, some of the paint landed on the side walls. Normally not a big deal, but we use the rooftop deck a lot and we were hoping to have it in the best possible shape as possible. In their defense, they work primarily on roofs and not rooftops with usable decks. Overall, we were very pleased with their work and wouldn't hesitate to call on them again!

I met with multiple contractors before selecting Blue Sky for my Trex deck project. I loved that they listened to what I wanted and provided me options in my quote without trying to upsell me. After I signed the contract, they were very helpful in making sure I had everything I needed for permitting (it was a simple process so I knew I wanted to do that myself instead of paying for the service), and they provided a clear expectation of timing for the project start (obviously, things can vary based on weather when considering outdoors projects, but I appreciated the communication). The crew worked quickly and efficiently to complete demolition and rebuilding of 3 decks while making sure our family always had access to at least one of our exterior doors. They kept the jobsite clean so I didn't have to worry about my children getting hurt playing in our yard in the evenings, and they were ultimately very respectful of our property and needs. Best of all, they finished the project within the contracted timeline and budget (I've been burned by many projects that end up costing more than expected, so this was HUGE for me.) And they made sure that I was happy with every aspect of the work before considering the job complete. I highly recommend Blue Sky for deck projects and would definitely call them again for future home projects that fall within their scope.

The Issue: Had a front corner post whose cement base started sinking due to the most Winter we experienced. The corner section of the roof was noticeably sagging by a significant amount. The Solution: Pictures were taken of the post and roof and sent to Chris at Blue Sky Roofing. Chris responded with an estimate and said it would take just over a day to complete. It was made known to Chris that the project was hoping to get completed by the middle of April the absolute latest. Chris sent 2 men over 2 days later and they: 1) Secured the roof with wood framing 2) Removed the dirt \ landscaping 3) Removed the cement block and all the cement in the ground 4) Poured the cement for the footing 5) The next day they framed and poured the cement for the square box around the pole (this took a couple hours) 6) The day after they returned to remove the wooden frame around the newly poured cement box 7) All the dirt \ landscaping was relocated to its original position 8) The roof was now again straight But, they did not stop there. They caulked 2 section of the roof and made sure the job was acceptable. Their work was oustanding all the way around from all directions! They will utilized by us for all future projects!

When you spot something that’s not right with the house, but cannot pinpoint the source of the problem on your own, you want someone you can trust to diagnose. Not someone who will quote you a job – because it’s what they are paid to do – but someone who looks close and takes your interest to heart. Like your Dad. Chris Lopuski knows his stuff. When other contractors were oh-so-happy to draw up an estimate to “solve my problem,” Chris advised me (on more than one occasion) that I did, in fact, NOT have a problem. He took time to explain the troubling signs I saw, detailed the mechanics of what was going on and outlined what I needed to keep an eye on going forward. And time proved it out; Chris' assessment was spot on. Sooner or later, I expect I will have an issue that needs attention. And when that happens, Chris is my go-to guy.

Over the last few years, we have worked with Chris and the team at Blue Sky on several projects. They have rebuilt our front porch and roof that a previous owner neglected, sandblasted and tuck pointed an exterior brick wall, helped us repair some botched roofing work done by a different contractor and built a pergola on our roof deck. For each project we received estimates in line with our expectations and no project went over budget. Most projects started on time except one which started earlier than expected. We have used Blue Sky twice now - once to redo/seal up our doghouse roof and now to redo our full flat roof, including the removal of a deck and installing a new deck with Trex. They also replaced our patio deck wood with the Trex. We obtained three quotes and this was the most reasonable one. We were very happy with the work - it was completed in a timely fashion and everything looks great! Carlos was communicative, keeping in touch throughout the project. We needed to have a hot tub moved for this process and they had no problem tackling that. At this point, I absolutely wouldn’t hesitate to hire Blue Sky again if needed in the future!

We were experiencing a roof leak. Blue Sky came out and noted it was due to shoddy work done previously on the roof. Chris walked us through our options for replacing the whole roof vs doing maintenance work. We ultimately discovered the work was under warranty by the original roof contractor (this was done by a prior owner). Contacted Blue Sky Roofing to get an estimate on how much it would cost to replace the roof on my bungalow. The price was very reasonable, but above all I appreciated that Chris informed me that the existing roof looked like it still had about 5 years of life remaining. Blue Sky Roofing was referred by a neighbor and we selected over two other contractors to repair/rebuild our porch. Blue Sky replaced the entire roof of our 3-flat. The builder used a poor design and low quality materials. The trusses rotted away over time. Blue sky came in and ripped the old roof out, built the new roof and covered it. Super professional. Very solid craftsmanship. I have referred them many times since. Our go to for anything roof related.

Blue Sky did a complete renovation of our home in Lincoln Park and did an excellent job. Bluesky came out to repair our deck which had several rotten joists and decking boards. Bluesky's team showed up on time and prepared and finished the job on time. Being on the third floor of a walkup, this was not an easy job. The quality of work was also fantastic.
