Store has very friendly staff and a wide selection spanning many genres and materials. On the plus side, their trade in policy seems to be very good and provides great credit for the store. Note that you can only pay half of your bill with credit, so always be prepared to pay at least some cash regardless of your trade balance. The store is very difficult to find - I drove around in circles even when using Google Maps before I found it tucked away from the road behind some overgrown bushes. The layout of the store is not typical to most bookstores or libraries, and I had a very difficult time finding anything. Be prepared to take your time here and be patient while searching. I also had a hard time finding anything that was current. Any newer materials were missing, and many of the books I found on the subjects I was interested in were quite outdated. Overall, it is a nice cozy bookstore that is well off the beaten path. Great staff and generous trade credit round out the treasure-hunt experience of this hidden gem.

Such an amazing store! One of my favorite stores in the Metro Phoenix area or in the Phoenix area period! I collect 78rpm records as well as antiquarian books mainly 1930 and earlier and I have been able to indulge in my passions of preserving history at this store with no problem. Prices are fair and she knows what she has and knows how to help you when you have any questions. There's been a few times I have looked at books and not found a print date or seen the print date in Roman numerals and she was able to help me to know what the date of the book was that it was published and also was able to help me know and understand what a book exactly was when I wasn't sure what the book was. All in all I give this just like Siskel and Ebert two thumbs up and I highly recommend this store if you are a collector of antiquarian books 78rpm records or if you just want to see a fascinating store and find yourself your next amazing read where your next amazing record. So I say go there! Don't wait you're missing out!

Stumbled across this store by accident, since I had an 11 & 12 yr old in the vehicle with me I thought it'd be nice to check it out. Upon our arrival there was one lady who greeted us that was nice. The store is a bit cluttered... My 12 yr old wanted to look at a specific Genre unfortunately they had not set that area up so we were left to wonder the store trying to find something else. The areas that were labeled were organized, my 12 yr old found a book in good condition and a decent price. The 11 yr old found a book in the Japanese books section. Would like to visit again, when I have more time to explore...I will update my review once we revist the store.

This place is HUGE and has so many genres. Just head for your favorite subject---, romance, mysteries, classics, history, foreign language, cookbooks, crafts, children's books.--they got it all. You could get lost in here. I really love the mystery section where I've picked up some hard-to-find, out -of print favorites. They carry both paperbacks and hardbacks. The owner is very knowledgable. If you don't find what you want don't be afraid to ask. She also gives you a much more generous credit for your used books than any other store. Even though the store is big it is very inviting with come comfy chairs. I just love this place. !

Great place for kids books if they're simply interested in reading. If your child has to find an Accelerated Reader level, it gets quite difficult because the books are not as organized as a library or most other book stores. If you find a series on a shelf you will have luck. However, you might find that series in more than one place. My kids had a lot of fun picking out books. My daughter found more books (shes 9yrs) than my son (hes 7yrs) simply because there wasnt too much in my sons interest or reading levels. But he did discover the Goosebumps series.

THIS is the ONLY store of it's kind, as we in Synnyslope surely appreciate. Information,... alot. All in one place . The Atmosphere is so unique..a great outlet for doing new and different things. Every year represents.,. as far back as the paper can maintain. Outside, are racks loaded with free books they simply no longer have room for. I visit it on my lunch break often and have never been a "reader", believe it. .. its surprisingly opened my eyes to whole other world., THANKS

For me personally, it's nice to know that places like this still exist. When they were closed for most of 2020, I thought it unlikely that they would reopen. I was not only pleasantly surprised to find that I was in error, but that they had taken the opportunity of their down time to clean and better organize, which was definitely needed. To make it worth your while, you should plan on spending a fair amount of time here.

Freaking amazing! The largest bookstore in the valley with over 30k books. Great prices and a very diverse selection, I do wish they had more philosophy books. My favorite thing about a used book store is exploring the stacks and discovering something not recommended by some algorithm. I just added four books to my collect . Friendly staff, Marlene is so sweet and welcoming. They also have a cat.

Unexpectedly, placed location, but what an incredible find. With a large selection of a variety of books, within many categories. Also has many other interesting items, including a nice film collection. Exceptional size, considering the small entrance way and unlikely great expectations. However, absolutely, recommended. Really loved the selection of used books. Some places it’s only newer stuff and some it’s only stuff so old it’s falling apart. Not here. Nice selection overall. Only knocked one star because there wasn’t a lot of really newer stuff. I get that inventory is mostly based on what people bring in but I always appreciate when a shop can bring in new AND used books or at least more recently used.

Was really disappointed, I get they have a lot of competition and I'd love to shop local. But I'm a single mom and when books here cost the same as new books online it just isn't worth it. I have an avid reader at home. If we swapped books with this shop would be more worth it. But we pass ours onto her school to teacher libraries. Good selection just not for us.

Best used book store I have ever been in. They had so many obscure older books in really good condition. Great selection of kids books. And the customer service is insanely good. They answered all of my questions, helped me locate books and just went above and beyond to make sure we found what we needed. 5 stars isn't enough for this place!

It looks like a warehouse from the outside (am I in the right place?). Inside, the large space is loaded with books, books, and more books! It's exactly what you remember from a pre-internet local bookstore. Dimly lit, shelves everywhere, that old book smell, and a helpful clerk at the front counter.

A wonderful collection of books graciously donated by the community. Gives a classic used bookstore ambiance without being as intimidating or commercialized as Bookmans. Overall, just a lovely, serene place with fantastic prices on both hardback and paperback books of all generes and styles

This place is a treasure. You can tell they truly love books so be sure to ask for help. The one you're looking for could be shelved in a section you haven't discovered yet. I look toward to when hardcovers are only $5. Apparently what I always needed was a coffee table book collection.

This establishment is so much larger than you think! The individual sections are marked, although are placed on the high side. Additionally they also have a greeting card and a "knick nack" section. I would recommend to anyone to please visit this hidden gem.

This is what I want out of a used bookstore. I want absurdly overstocked shelves and a maze like layout of treasures and books I didn’t know I wanted to read, but I guess I’m gonna read anyway. It’s a good store. Good vibe. Cashier was a friendly dude too.

Good selection, but prices are not competitive. I bought two old books for $20, I feel it should have been cheaper for the condition and the content of the books. It's ok, but if you live far from this establishment, I recommend that you skip this one.
