**Before I begin, I know 2 stars seems harsh, but I think I explain it well, so please hear me out.** Meh... this place is fine. But to sum it up in a word, overpriced. Appetizers average out around $20, mains average out around $30. All in all, decently pricey. Not *expensive*, but pricey, yeah? It definitely isn't cheap. And for the experience you get - the service, the food, the ambiance - I was a bit uninspired. We were in a big group, and I think it was the manager or owner who was taking care of us? He was really friendly, but otherwise, service wasn't great. We had to ask for more water like 4 times, and one of the mains came out around 5 minutes after every other main had come out. These things are not the end of the world, but for above average prices, you should expect above average service. As for food: it was solid, but I really felt like only a few dishes were reasonably priced. The octopus appetizer for example, definitely seemed well worth the $20. For that price, I think It tasted good, and it looked good. But then you have the Arancini. $16 for *only* three typical arancini balls, plopped in a bowl with some sauce on the side. Absolutely nothing special about these fried balls of rice, or the way they're presented. And yet they're over $5 per. I would be happy with the dish if it was half the price. As for the mains, I got the truffle pasta. $26. It was good, great if you like truffle flavour... but $26 for pasta noodles, mushrooms, and sauce? The portion wasn't huge, and it wasn't photo-worthy... it had no garnish or anything. For how much money you're paying, it's just a bit underwhelming. Again, it tasted quite good, but... $26. You could get a delicious meal for half the price at plenty of other places. For all that extra cash, there *needs* to be some critical factor that elevates the dish. There isn't one. Finally, the ambiance. Meh. It's just a big rectangular room, with a bar on one side, and tables scattered all around, none of the pieces seeming particularly nice. The place didn't scream "expensive", you know? I mean, it wasn't junky, it was nice enough, but... I couldn't attribute any vibe to the place - it was more or less just functional. Some restaurants, you walk in, and you can immediately tell that you're getting rinsed for your cash. And that's a good thing! You want to feel classy when you're dining classy! That's the whole appeal of going to restaurants that aren't cheap. Borgo Antico isn't cheap. It's described as an "Upscale Setting" on Google... I wouldn't say that's accurate. It's nice. But it doesn't feel nice enough for the numbers on the menu. Oh, and as a side note, the bathrooms were not very nice at all. In the men's washroom, the urinal is literally right next to the sink. Like a foot away. On the same wall. No divider or anything. You do not want to be washing your hands when somebody is peeing a foot to your left. It's gross. Certainly, Borgo Antico isn't the most expensive place out there, far from it, but the prices are definitely above average. Yet hardly anything makes the place feel expensive besides the numbers on the menu. Not the food, not the service, not the ambiance. That's an issue for me, and ultimately makes me not really want to recommend this place. Businesses ought to be cohesive. If $5 were shaved off most of the items on the menu, my review would be a lot more positive. But as of now, I don't have much good to say. On one hand, two stars feels harsh, because the staff was friendly and the food actually tasted quite good, and it's not like any part of the experience *particularly* sucked... but the prices relative to everything else seriously hurt this restaurant. You can find nicer, tastier places, for cheaper. For me, two stars means don't go here, unless you have some special interest in it. I think that works for Borgo Antico.

I booked a table in advance as it was our wedding anniversary and I wanted to ensure we would have a nice setting to enjoy our time together. We wanted to try someplace new and the star rating suggested a good experience would be had. I had called to reconfirm the reservation and then Borgo Antico called us to reconfirm the booking the after oon before our reservation to confirm that we were still coming for 6:30 and I confirmed and reminded them it was our anniversary and wanted to ensure we would have searing outside in the front. They confirmed. We arrived on time and they told us they didn't have our table as requested… instead it seemed you had pushed tables together and were holding iut for a larger reservation. There were three different sets of tables pushed outside pushed together combined and being held out for someone else’s reservation? And apparently no spots were available in the back patio that I had been told about either. I pointed out that I had booked days in advance and had specifically asked for a nice environment for our wedding anniversary. With a shrug of the shoulders , we were told we could eat inside… - An unappealing largely empty interior. My wife talked me into accepting the seat inside but once we were seated, we found the music was too loud for us to converse, and the menu was unbelievably limited with overpriced items. All things combined, my wife ended up agreeing we would walk out as everything together would even further worsen the evening and we didn't want to give our money to a place that treated us so poorly. We agreed it would be better to get take out pizza than to stay. By the way, EVERY other restaurant we tried along the strip had to turn us down as they apologized since the seating outside had been booked in advance. The other restaurants clearly respect their customers bookings. Thanks for souring our special night Borgo Antico. You really made the night memorable , tainting our anniversary evening. I had spoken with your restaurant THREE times with YOU called the last time to reconfirm the last time and you ruined our. night. Will specifically recommend against anyone considering your restaurant

This is the first google review I've ever been inclined to leave as I'm extremely displeased by the service. I don't think I've had slower service at a restaurant, and it wasn't even busy at all. Just a few tables seated in the whole place and by the end of the night our party was last. After getting water for the table it took 30 minutes to take our orders. It then took 1 hour to get our appetizers, and another 30 minutes for mains. I ordered Salmon which was actually quite tasty and juicy, however it was supposed to be served with fregola but instead I got buckwheat? That was disappointing especially since I was looking forward to trying something new. I also wish it came with a side of veggies - the little bit of mixed in Sofritto was pitiful. Price ($32) was expected but not worth it. I won't speak to all the dishes ordered, but a couple in the group ordered the Tortelloni and received just 4-5 pieces, I felt so bad for them. They went to McDonald's to fill up after. At the end of the night, the only party left, done dessert for quite some time, just waiting and waiting for the server to come around to check on us and offer the bill. Instead he was socializing at the bar with regulars (?) or friends and other staff with no care in the world for the 1 party he was supposed to be serving. I had to flag down somebody else to get him called over, which made him very moody. When he noticed that one of the couples gave him a lousy tip (for his lousy service) he became extremely unprofessional, showing frustration while processing my own bill, and talking bad to the other table in our party about our table. On the way out, he exuberantly and very sarcastically thanked the customer he got a low tip from. I'm shocked to witness such immature and unprofessional behaviour from a waiter. My one regret is leaving a standard tip and would leave absolutely nothing if I could go back and do it again.

how things change....our first experience we had was really good from the service to the food, a 1year and a half later we went back andwere the first ones in the restaurants and after watching everone else get serviced and asking what happen to our dinner they said well you order a beef steak that takes a liitle more time, II've cooked may steaks in my life and steak take about 3 1/2 minutes per side. so didint like that excuse at all. when we finally got our meal the steak was suppose to be a strip lion but was a baseball steak instead and was flavourless and under cooked, we also order the pasta with sauce and veal which taste good at all, sauce tasted way off hard to discripe just not enjoyable espically for kids, the spigolia over saffron rissotto was extermely skinny and small so all you eat was rissotto. With eating out today food cost being as high as they are our experience was definatlely one of the worst experiences in a very look time. Be careful.

Was looking forward to coming here tonight for dinner due to the amazing reviews. It was nice to finally get out and sit on the patio. Due to the rainy weather we were expecting, I called ahead of time to confirmed with the restaurant with what would happen as the patio is covered with umbrellas only (coverage enough for a light drizzle). The lady I spoke to mentioned that the the reservation is confirmed and should anything change as a result of the weather they would let me know. We drove 40 minutes to get to the restaurant with a light drizzle. As we arrived, the patio was all packed up and no customers were in sight. We gave the restaurant a call and was told by a gentleman (seemed like the owner/manager) that he sent his staff home due to the conditions. I did not receive a call informing me of this decision. The gentleman was not empathetic with the situation and we were left to figure out another dinner plan at 8pm. Will never return here due to the poor service and communication by the staff.

We checked out this place for dinner last night and it was an amazing experience from when we walked in to be seated (for the patio) to payment. We didn’t have the appetite to try appetizers or dessert but the dish all three of us ordered and loved was the Gorgonzola gnocchi special. Two of us asked for it without crispy pancetta and the third ordered as is - it was a wonderful dish that hit the spot without being overly heavy. Every plate had been wiped clean. The bread and what seemed to be a roasted red pepper spread was a wonderful touch and also devoured. I actually preferred this place to Piano Piano, which has a nicer ambience but food-wise, I enjoyed Borgo better. Will definitely be back!

I don't typically write reviews however my family persuaded me after going for a mothers day lunch. We sat inside and the decorations were simplistic and not overpowering adding to the elegant feel of the restuaraunt. We were greeted by the owner which was nice. We got the seafood pasta, the tagliolini, and the truffle pasta, each of them were 5 stars. We ended the meal with a tirimisu which was light and delicious. Overall we would rate this place an 11/10. Exceeded our expectations, the staff were top tier and the food was absolutely delicious. We will definetely return and reccomened this place to others.

Amazing food and spectacular service. Having dined at nearly all the restaurants in downtown Oakville, Borgia Antico stands above the rest. Authentic Italian food, full of flavour and generous portions, make the dining experience amazing. Service is without a doubt top notch. Several staff checked in with us multiple times but not too many, food was brought out at the right time, and dishes were cleared without us feeling rushed. Muskoka Sun cocktail was a perfect pairing with the sweltering heat outside. Highly recommend for romantic dinners or group gatherings.

Food is great, Patio was lovely but for the cost per plate the service was awful. Hardly saw our server whichever staff it was, two different women were coming to our table and neither one could seem to figure out who was actually supposed to be serving us. Waited about 15 minutes to get our bill (Which had to be fixed 3 times before they were correct) when there were only 2 other tables in our section and no water refill even after having asked. Not to mention the server delivering our bills remarked she just wanted to go home- same! Won’t be returning

I’m actually really surprised by the 4.5 rating here. I got the rigatoni bolognese followed by the cheesecake. The pasta was definitely too al dente for my liking, and felt like it needed to be cooked more. The sauce was meh. It was fairly pricey for (less than) mediocre pasta. They did made a comeback with dessert because I loved the citrus cheesecake. I feel bad giving a mediocre review on the food, because the service was very friendly. I loved the laidback and inviting vibes. Overall, I do not see myself visiting this place again. Overly pricey for below average pasta.

We tried this place by chance as we couldn’t get seat in another Italian place nearby. The staff was good, not very helpful in explaining the menu. Some of the dishes we ordered lacked flavor like mushroom pasta was okish, but daily dish(linguini was good), fried cauliflower was also good along with fried shrimps and calamari. The mock-tails were not good at all, it was simply soda water with little syrup inside. The menu is very limited but definitely room for improvement.

Extremely disappointing. Food was mediocre, and service was unpolished and slow. Our appetizer came out an hour after we were seated. Calamari was clearly from frozen. The short rib was advertised by our waiter as fall-off-the-bone. I had a tough time chewing, let alone prying it off the bone. Presentation was lack-luster to say the least. The wine and tiramisu, however, was delicious. Really wanted to enjoy this meal, but the entire experience was flat. After tax and tip, dinner for two plus a bottle cost us a little over $300. You’d be better off spending that money somewhere else.

  • Len Sparling

We went (3couples) In general it’s OK… nothing special and the decor is tacky, plastic lawn chairs aren’t exactly what I’d call downtown dining unless your on a patio (we weren’t). food was certainly acceptable and fairly priced. A scoop of Tiramisu in a crystal DARQ glass that looks like it came from a gas station promotion is not exactly downtown either but whatever. Wine was priced at levels close to complete ridiculous levels. Service when he should up was pretty basic. Will I return? likely not

The cauliflower appetizer was good. The bread was good. The rigatoni bolognese was unimpressive. The service, while pleasant enough, was a total disappointment. Had wave down the waiter several times. Not once did a waiter come by after our food arrived to check if anything else was needed. And then when we asked for something, they would forget and we would have to ask again. Disappointment was an embarrassment for friends who had had dinners there on three other occasions and were so happy.

I would give them 10 stars if I could. We go to Borgo Antico whenever we want to enjoy good quality food. The staff members are awesome, they remember us and greet us with a great smile ALL THE TIME! Food and wine selection are awesome. We've tried seafood, pastas, steaks and their daily specials. It has always exceeded our expectations! Food presentation, the taste, cleanliness and everything else. This is our favourite restaurant and we will visit often!! Thank you for the service, we really appreciate it!! Thank U Enzo and the rest of the Borgo Antico team!!

  • Daud Alakozai

Definitely the worst service I’ve ever received, waiters are beyond lazy, they don’t care about what you ask for and take forever to get one thing as simple as olive oil. I was actually so tired of waiting I went and asked and saw the server on his phone and ignored me when I asked again. Another waitress then helped me. Food was not even anything special. I would definitely not recommend this place. I would give it a 0 if I could. Please do yourself a favour and don’t go here.

I absolutely loved this place. The food was superb and the staff friendly. The owner was awesome too! Highly recommend:) I had the fish dish with large grilled Shrimp and it was so fresh and tasty. Had to get the bolognese as it is one of my favorite dishes and got it as a side dish; it is al dente and that is the way it’s supposed to be for those who think it’s not. If you want it more cooked just ask I’m sure they will do it for you but I thought it was perfect!

It was an amazing experience! We have a social set menu for a big group!. Fried Cauliflower, veal meatballs, and cheese and tomato were amazing. We had three portions for the main course, the steaks (which I got and was perfectly cooked, however the piece of beef I got was not 100% tender), and the Trout (most got it and they loved it). Excellent food, and amazing service. This team goes out of their way to give an authentic Italian experience. Been her a number of times, lunch portions are perfect, dinner portions are more than generous. We were a group of 8 for NYE dinner, and there was only one miss que in the ordering, but they went over the top to rectify it. Steak is massive and awesome, and here's hoping they put that rack of lamb on the regular menu!! Will be back soon.

I felt like I was in Italy and having authentic Italian cuisine. A must for all foodies and please share your opinion on what you had so I can try the same on my next visit. I asked the owner if they had any more branches and his honest reply was, “we do not want to dilute our quality as he prepares all the delicacies himself and will not trust anyone with his secret recipe.” Starters, Main Course and Desert all par excellence!!! Keep it up

Ended up here with a table of 8 good friends of mine. Couple weeks prior, we ended up across the street at another spot that was supposed to be the best – don’t waste your time and get over to this restaurant, this weekend. Amazing pasta, (mushroom tag is great), great service, the waiter was straight from Italy and could barely understand him in the best way possible. This is the place

We've been back numerous times... first time prior to the pandemic. Food and drink has always been incredible. Service, surprisingly, and disappointingly after returning from the pandemic, has not been up to the food standard, and our original experience. Would just like a tiny bit more engagement, and then visible appreciation for our business after we spend a not unsizable $ amount... which we could have chosen to spend anywhere.

Tonight my husband and I went for our anniversary dinner This new restaurant gets a five out of five stars without a doubt. The service, decor, location, ambience, music and ultimately the food were to die for. I would recommend this restaurant to absolutely anyone and everyone. If you're looking for an amazing place to dine with that special extra touch of class definitely go here for a visit. Loved it! Can't wait to go back.

I was strolling through Oakville and was in the mood for Italian. What I found next was an absolute gem. I’m a restauranteur who grew up in Italy and having dined at many top restaurants all over Italy have been always sceptical about trying new places. Well let me tell you. The food delicious the potions filling and the vibe well I thought I was in Italy. Thank you Tino for an absolute merivigliosa experience.

  • Gihad HG Abdelhamid

I love it, I love it. I it's a short menu, but there is a big reason behind it, each dish is crafted really, perfected, done with care and served with passion. I had the best steak in this place and it has been a while since I had a steak that delicious . The food is very well seasoned too, reminds me of what we are used to from Italian cuisines. Very highly recommended and we are definitely coming back.

  • Ben Smith

I didn't eat there as we were just taking a minute to enjoy the weather on their patio. Service was excellent, really felt appreciated and cared for by the staff. Looked at the menu which had some very tempting items despite our plans to just have a drink. I would go back to try the food for sure. Great atmosphere, almost felt like vacation sitting out having a beer with their delicious house-made bread.

  • Elena Colussi-Pelaez

One of the BEST authentic Italian restaurants in Oakville. I have been a big fan since they opened and have continued to come back for the delicious food and chats with the friendly staff. Service is superb. Definitely top 5 in Oakville on my list. Pictured is the grilled octopus starter and fish plate with shrimp and roasted seasonal veg. I really savoured every bite - such amazing flavours.

  • Carol Ann Brazil

Just average. Did not like the plastic chairs inside the restaurant. Did not like asking for a glass of house wine and then being charged $23. Did not like asking for a spicy dish and being told the spice could be added after the dish came to the table except the spice never came. It took another server passing by our table to notice we hadn't been given any bread. We will not be returning.

  • Campbell Beaton

We had a super lunch! The specials were fantastic. We share starters and pasta. The starters were really lovely, then we had the pasta and the butternut squash ravioli was really superb with amaretto cookie over the top was great and only surpassed by the fungi pasta with truffle. For desert we had many great things but the ricotta sponge was superb. We will definitely be going back again!

  • Obaid Owais

We were here for Valentine’s Day. The food was decent but nothing outstanding. Service was very slow due to the occasion but the preset menu for the Valentine’s Day was very pricy for what it was. Both tables on our sides got served bread but we weren’t. The portions were very small too for everything ordered.

We checked out this spot because of the good reviews, but nothing about it stood out. The food lacked a lot of flavour, our server seemed distracted, and the overall atmosphere was pretty standard. In particular, the risotto was soupy and the bolognese was very basic.

Lovely place with large windows out front. Lovely and warm staff. Food was delicious from appetizers to dessert. Had Octopus for the first time and it was amazing. And the White was perfect for my Sea Bass...

Very expensive and they don't deliver. $55 for one main dish and a lousy beer and I walked away hungry. Fish and 2 large shrimps priced at $42 and the fish was like thin 3oz piece. Rushed service. Never again.

Food was super tasty and great presentation also. Drinks were a bit on the steep side but I can't fault the service. Nice patio with a great view for people watching. So, so nice to get out once again.

Very nice classic Italian. The shrimp & calamari app was excellent. Had the veal chops and was NOT hungry the next day - super delicious & filling.

Cozy environment with premium service! Will re-visit here again although it’s a 40mins driving. Another highlight is the homemade sauce with bread!
