My friend and I entered an event around 10:40pm and after listening to the music for around thirty minutes I decide to go to the toilet by myself. I was waiting in line and when I was at the front of the queue my arm was grabbed from behind me by a security guard and he dragged me out the front of the venue and kicked me out of the event. He did this without saying a word to me: did not ask if I was okay or if I was with any friends. As I was kicked out, none of the other employees asked if I was okay or if I had any way to get home and so I was left alone to walk home by myself (around a 40 minute walk) and my friend who I attended the event with was left alone in the venue as we came as the two of us. I was in shock and confused whilst this happened so I didn't have time to question his behaviour until I was forced out. I think the way I was treated was unacceptable and I was only able to enjoy half an hour of a six hour event that I paid around 80 dollars to go to and had been excited to attend for several weeks. As a young woman with a small build I felt powerless in the situation and was left with no explanation to why I was not allowed to stay at the event. The security guard who treated me this way was about 6ft in height and had a muscled build. I would therefore like to request a refund or some kind of reimbursement for this event, as I was not able to see the headlining acts I had paid to see and was left alone on the street feeling very shocked and distressed. Not withstanding the fact that I was forced to leave the event I hadn't had time to enjoy, the way I was treated was completely unacceptable.

This place is really good once you're inside, I like the levels and different rooms, but the security are the worst. My friend got drugged and the security and owner blamed it on us, after we went to the hospital there was nothing else we could do and the situation was under control, me and my other friend went back to the club and were denied entry back in, they started yelling and abusing us in front of other people. Then the manager/owner joined in too.. Not letting us back in because my friend got spiked I also had a birthday list one night which let's you skip the line, told the security and he was like "so?" And turned away. Ruined my mood The security there should learn to treat the guests with respect if they want them to come back They are the rudest and most disgusting humans ever.

The security was un experienced in their field, we were not allowed re entry despite having paid upwards of $40 for a ticket and not told that we could not re enter the venue after we had left. When we explained our situation about not being told the policy when we left and then tried to re enter, the security said that we (ticket holders) had to pay an additional $50 to enter the venue once again. From Customer standpoint this is very mediocre and completely unprofessional. Hiring security who use their position to holster power over paying customers leads to a toxic and illegitimate business model. In addition, my girlfriend who was also a ticket holder was asked if she was crying in a slanderous manner when approached by security. By all means, stay away from this sub par venue.

Gotta love places like this where you’re the best dressed and most sober in line (with a group of young friends coming from a birthday party) only to be tapped on the shoulder and told to leave for no reason whatsoever. Even when I asked him countless times why, the bouncer had no answer except that it was management’s decision. Oh, and telling me I’m too well dressed to be at this club is the worst backhanded compliment I have ever heard. Rats is definitely an appropriate name. This place is infested with them. Discrimination? Yep, it’s infested with that too. Management reserves the right to refuse entry? Try that one out in court when you have no reasonable excuse to exercise that so-called “right”!!! I deserve to be contacted about this, or else I will explore my legal options.

Absolutely shocking how bad this venue is. Went to see Gerd Janson on friday who did a terrific job on the decks, but everything else about the club was horrendous. Despite them proudly stating that they have a Funkion One sound system, the set up is horrendous. Unless you're directly standing in from of the system, you can barely hear the sound. What this means in practice, is that everyone ends up talking, drowning out the little sound that makes it to the back of the room! The garden bar is not even worth stepping out into. It was flooded due to the rain seeping through the open top roof. Looks tacky and cheap and terrible sound system out there too. I'm amazed this place actually still operates. Whatever you do, don't bother going!

I try to avoid this venue to all costs, and I don’t recommend to go to any of my friends. Last night played a DJ that I wanted to see, so I decided to go just this time. I found out that they sell you a pint for $18!!!! In average in a club it should cost around 10-12 for a normal pint, and $14 or maybe $16 for a high quality beer, That’s the way you lost clients, and then you’re crying because you’re losing costumers, but you’re just trying to rip them off. The bar staff is grumpy or hate their job, so pretty sure is not a nice atmosphere even for them. Nice lights tho Sound is high, but it doesn’t affect your ears. But yeah, this venue is a disgrace for Melbourne nightclubs scene.

THAT’S A SHAME FOR SUCH A GREAT SPACE THAT YOU ARE HOLDING IT SO UNPROFESSIONALLY ! YOU CAN’T LEAVE THE PEOPLE TOO COLD WITHOUT GIVING THEIR CLOTHS IN MELBOURNE’S COLD NIGHTS ! PLEAEE SHOW MORE CARE , THATS TOO SIMPLE TO DO !!!

I live in a nearby residential property and this club generates a humongous amount of noise, even loud enough to be heard clearly during day time, as they seem to have zero soundproof system over their roof, completely disregarding the well-being of nearby residents. If you are also affected by this please continue to leave a one star review just like I did here so they can either take note or see their rating go even lower than it already is. Also thumb up this review so more residents can see this. Thank you for your cooperation.

Absolute worst venue in the city! Rude bouncers, grumpy bar staff, idiotic bussies causing problems they don't need to. Security telling people they can't take a plastic glass of water out to the smoking area even though so many people in the smokers area had an alcoholic drink with them (stupid things like that), this venue is badly run and so much stupid and angry grumpy rude behaviour from staff. Also the worst area in the city. So much negative stuff happening around there. Horrible venue! We will never go back!

The bouncers are RACISTS and LIARS. First we were told we needed to buy tickets online to get in. We bought the tickets in front of them and they still refused entry saying they're full. Then they let atleast 20 white people enter without any questions. When we confronted the bouncer how do you have space for others, he finally said the harsh truth that he didn't want "Brown people" here. Such places should be banned and their management should be questioned for such racists behavior.

It was very disgusting and discriminated behavior by security guard as they stop us entering into club because of skin color. Went for an organised event. The staff at the bar has no manners. Absolutely rude and uneducated. They took my freshly bought drink from my table and did not even ask if I had finished it(being the glass full obviously not) .they took no responsibility at all and refused to give me another one.. got aggressive and threatened to kick me out. I lined up alone and was so excited to join my friends inside the club. But the bouncers won't let me in because they only reserved to "regulars", such a lame excuse . This is insane! So I asked my friends to come out to reason. Still the bouncers and unfriendly staff rejected me to enter. On and off few groups of people in queue got kicked out for no reasons. Don't go there on Saturday unless it's a festival event

Went here for bollywood night, which turned into an exclusive punjabi night, just coz the majority was north indian public. Staff didn’t entertain us specifically for this complain and told us to leave or hear whatever’s been played. Drinks were slightly overpriced compared to the overall standard of the club. The place could really do well if it does something about its lighting and non biased music.

The bouncers are racist and disrespectful. The people infront of me in the quee doesn't has any tickets or they didn't booked tickets in advance but the security guys allowed them to enter.He told me you dodn't have tickets and this is not the place for you. Grow up guys this 21st century. We all are HUMANS... This is the worst club i have ever visited in my entire life. Won't recommend to anyone!

I am a resident near the Brown Alley, they always generates unacceptable noise, even i closed the windows and doors. The City of Melbourne replied me that they cannot do anything about that. The noise caused me headache The only suggestion from the councillors is to call the police :( Brown Alley PUT YOUR ROOF ON and DO NOT MAKE TROUBLE to the SURROUNDING

Attended an event 24/2/23, the venue was perfect: atmosphere was on-point, the various stages (3 were active that night) all each had well-staffed bars, the venue was regularly cleaned throughout the night, and overall every worker was friendly. Just be aware you enter not from Brown Alley (the street) itself, but Lonsdale St, just next to the Colonial Hotel.

If you're a nearby resident. It's compulsory you join the party every friday and saturday and sometimes thursday night. The sound at 3am in the morning will make sure you are partying. Get soundproofing. I'm a nearby resident. Found out you were the noisy one every Friday and Saturday night. EDIT: Now they are doing sunday night and monday night.

Was here Friday night for snakehips, the waitress charged us $42 for two rounds when I ordered 2 rum & cokes and 3 soda Waters. When I said something she just ignored me, literally a joke how she was taking advantage of people because they looked 'too drunk' to notice, she done the same to two of my friends, absolute joke!!!

Went there to see KAS:ST and Francois X. Zero issue with the venue. No line at 1am, security staff was ok, not overcrowded, EFTPOS worked, free water at the bar. No crazy line for the bathrooms, but they are indeed small and I can imagine that being a problem if the place was overcrowded. Event was run by Untitled Group.

Got me a lot of tax for 3 tickets and also the description that was not nearly close to what the actual plan was. Not only it was a huge rip off but also the quality of EVERYTHING was bad. Also I asked for a refund and I got none so before you get a ticket make sure you really want to take the chance

The bouncer outside the club is racist, he mentioned it’s regular only and when I asked how can we be regulars if you guys don’t allow us in, he had no answer.. it is not a club for someone who doesn’t have white skin.. We were not allowed in the club RACISM wins. 1

Thought I'd check out the worst club in Melbourne an yea it most certainly lives up to the reputation rude bartender aggressive security drugged out people sleeping everywhere.

Ridiculous noise！The basic standard for a club is to not impact surrounding residents! No respect to the surrounding and no awareness of community responsibilities.

It’s really disappointing that there is only 1 toilet available for an event which has at least 300 people who have brought tickets. I expected better.

Went to a ticketed event, was over capacity, could not move at all on the whole lower floor. Was charged $10 for a large coke. Disgrace.

Should be easy to find a better place than this one in Melbourne. Don't waste your time.
