Return policy is very inconvenient and obviously a way to cheat you out of more money. If I’m returning a rental car just a couple of hours later than the 24 hrs window, why would I be charged for another full 24hrs? What a scam! Also, some of their employees do not explain everything fully. I was forced to extend for another 24hrs since I wasn’t able to make the return time (I was driving out of town and hit some traffic on the way back). I asked if I could return at a drop off location, but their response was, “yes you can-at the airport, but you’ll be charged another full day so you’re better off just extending for another 24hrs. You can drop off tomorrow (Saturday)”. I said that was fine and arrived at 1:05pm to return the vehicle on Saturday. I thought I was arriving early (since 24hrs later would put me at a 4pm return on Saturday). The man closing the gates said they were closed, he closed at 1pm. I explained my situation and how the woman on the phone when I called to extend the rental (since I was unable to make it back on Friday), never informed me of their open hours on weekends. He was sympathetic but his hands were tied. I understand and went to drop off the following day, Sunday. The manager “tried” to help me and comp’d a few charges, but still charged me for a full 24 hrs on Sunday. She explained how her hands were tied as well. Not upset with her but annoyed by Budget’s policies and fees. With a name like “Budget” you’d think they’d be more budget friendly- ie, not have ridiculous charges for extending a rental by an hour or two. I think I’ll stick with enterprise from here on out. At least they have easy accessible after hour drop off locations and policies.

The manager at the store I rented the car was really rude when I asked why they charged me for a service that I declined. The reason I accepted the offer was because the store associate convince me to get the XM radio since it was free. I initially rented a compact. At, unfortunately there wasn’t any car available for my reservation. Once that occurred the employee then said I was going to get an upgrade since I they didn’t have the car and ask to get the XM since it was free. The manger said she didn’t want to hear what I had to say since she wasn’t there at the time. Then I asked if she was the manager, she said yes. Afterwards I told her she needed to hear what’s going on since her associate made a mistake on the reservation. She then started to listen to me once I told her that this situation wasn’t handle correctly and that she should consult with the employee that way it wouldn’t happen to anyone else. In the end I was still charged for the XM that I was told was free.

I recently rented a vehicle for a business trip and I requested a standard size vehicle and they gave me a midsize SUV which was fine. The reason why I gave the above rating is because this was my first time booking from budget una long time, I usually use enterprise, and the damage waiver protection for 3 days was $123 (very high compared to enterprise). Also, I was supposed to return it 5:30pm and I dropped it off 5:57pm and I was charged for those extra minutes. Customer service said there is a grace period of of 29 min before charging extra which I’m still under that timeframe. I left the tank 1/2 full and was charged $9.99 per gallon which I was never told what the price of the gallon would be (it wasn’t posted on the wall neither). If I knew this, I would put gas myself at $2.89 a gallon. Lesson learned. I’ll stick to enterprise.

Really poor customer service. I reserved (and paid for) a car in advance. When the employee put my license into a machine it returned a ‘sad face’ and with no further instruction she said that was the end of the road and she could absolutely not rent to me and dismissed me. Apparently, this is because my license is enhanced (which means I’ve been vetted and cleared to pass us/Canada borders without passport). This is insane. I can’t hold it against the employee if the machine couldn’t read my license - but I was extremely disappointed that she had no empathy in how much this inconvenienced me - she didn’t help cancel my reservation or refund it, she didn’t help me contact or find another rental place - just basically said get out. It was a terrible experience and I won’t be trying budget again.

I would like to say out of 3 other locations i have rented this location is the best. The team has always been attentive and answers any questions you may have about the rental process. They keep the checkout and rental drop off process simple and quick. If there is an issue they do their best to find a solution. This review is based on about 5 rentals within the past 3 months. I hope this is helpful for someone making a rental. Gina has great customer service in case you have a question about your rental!

This was my third time renting with budget and as with the previous times I was extremely happy with them. The car was a newer chevy Malibu and it was in very good condition. The staff was also very friendly. Two tips for future renters. 1) Try to pick up your rental at a satellite office instead of the airport if you can. We save over $75 this way on the rental and according to the staff you typically will save when don't pick it up at the airport. 2) DO NOT WALK TO THIS LOCATION. While the staff was very friendly and the building was secure it was in a very sketchy part of town. I recommend a cab or Uber to drop you off just to be safe.

Paula is an angel. I was with my parents in Houston having a rental car booked with Enterprise and refused my debit card and my credit card. My dad has cancer and we had an appt with MD Anderson the next morning and was having to drive back to Florida the next day. Upset, I went into Budget. I was met with a smile and Paula put me in a car they needed to be taken back to Florida. I will never forget the kindness she showed to me. Budget is my new rental company and I would avoid Enterprise across the street. They are the rudest unfriendly people I ever met.

Downtown Houston location. They had to wait for the airport to get car rental returns so the car transport people could bring them to this downtown rental location. I waited over an hour for my reserved car. I felt like Jerry Seinfeld.. “You know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them.” The ladies and guys working there were pleasant and the only reason I gave any stars for this review.

Horrible experience. The lady you see in this photo was awful to me. No customer service grace at all. My guess is that she has been working for this organization a number of years so she feels as though she can treat people anyway she wants. Even when I took her pictures she laughed and said go right ahead! She was unhelpful, rude and pushed me aside as if I was trash. Thankfully when I returned the car I had a better experience. Suggestion if you can rent from some where else you might want to do so!

I strongly recommend this location. I have been coming to this one for 4 years and assure you that you won't find a more client-focused team than the people at this location. Gina and her folks are pleasant and helpful and do everything they can to get you in and out as quickly as possible. My experiences in the more than a dozen cars I have rented here have been nothing but fair pricing and better value and service than the price I actually paid.

Entregaron el auto casi 2 horas después xq no tenían GPS disponible. No estaba bien limpio. El auto trabajó bien. La señora que me entregó el auto fue amable, pero, al devolverlo, la encargada que estaba no fue nada amable, no quiso explicar claramente lo que le pregunté, hasta se burló. Si se paga refill de combustible, te cobran igual tanque lleno aunque gastes la mitad. Ojalá mejoren la atención y respeten a los clientes, extranjeros o no.

I made a reservation after coming from working an overnight 12 hour shift. The staff then informed me that I wasn't able to rent a vehicle due to a failed credit check. I informed her that wasn't correct. I just returned a car back to Avis the day prior. She was rude, and didn't offer any help. Instead, I had to pay 40.00 to get home on a Lyft. The service was horrible and I will not return again.

The only complaint is I couldn’t get them to answer the phone. I don’t like talking to recordings over the phone. But everything else was great. By the way, the recording was a good and easy recording to deal with compared to other recording of other vendors. But still would had preferred to deal with a real person over the phone. Deserves more than 5 stars, I give them a 9 from 1 to 0.

I recently rented a car from this Budget location... I usually rent from the Hobby Airport location but the Downtown location was more convenient for this rental... The car was clean and the staff was very courteous and helpful... The rental agent named Paula was very pleasant and knowledgeable... I will probably start renting from this location in the future whenever possible...

It was hard to locate this agency due to construction at the airport and lack of clear signage. They were very busy, but the process was smooth. I had booked through hotwire and it took less than 10 minutes to get processed at the counter and get in my vehicle. Prices are a bit less than average. I don't like that you can't get someone from the local office to answer the phone.

I will never go any place else. Webster Street at Fannin near midtown Houston. Texas. Above and beyond. You are the greatest asset to the Avis Budget Corporation.

I had a terrible experience at this location for my first time going to rent a vehicle. I was told about my license not correct but that was wrong and couldn't rent a vehicle . This was a disappointment of customer service and I will never rent from this location again. I was upset and frustrated with the way they treated me as a new customer.

Efficiency and organization are both missing here. Chaos. And you aren't acknowledged after 15-20 min. I have used this location a few times, primarily due to their weekend hours, but it's always a fiasco. The employees are VERY comfortable. Lastly, my vehicle had an oil change light on before I left the lot.

The car was not cleaned when I received it with animal hair and candy all over the seats and floor. When I returned it, they charged me $110 extra claiming that I left the car too dirty, it was probably cleaner when I returned it as I cleaned up most of the mess when I received it.

No customers service!! Over charges!! when you return your car they will not give you a receipt. They will not walk the car with you. Then they add extra charges to the invoice. Stay away from budget rent a car you’re only get an ulcer. They are horrible.

This was my first time using budget and a lady named Paula took care of me at both vehicle pickup and drop off. She was delightful and offered great service. I did the prepaid booking option online which was a better deal, will definitely be back.
