Was in here yesterday. Used to think CIBC was better than other banks. But yesterday I had a teller named Mina that was extremely rude. I went to deposit a cheque, waited in line a long time(as per usual) got to the teller, she took my check, looked at it and all seemed fine, until she decided to tell me that this check looked like “not a good cheque” at first I did not think anything of it, especially because I KNOW 100% that it is a good cheque. She went to what I assume was a manager, asked him and also stated again that it wasn’t a good check and that person RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME SAID “ITS FINE ITS JUST AN AMERICAN CHECK, GO AHEAD” she made a scene about it so he said “Go ask Poppy if you want to” so this teller still decided to go ahead to another person in an office, came out again without my cheque, fiddled around on the computer, at this point I HAD BEEN EXTREMELY EMBARRASED IN THIS BUSY BRANCH. So I told the woman straight up that I did not know how she was telling me that I had a BAD CHEQUE just because she’d never heard of CheckOut 51. She then went back into the office, came back out and said that the cheque would be held for 5 days( which she really should have done from the first place ANYWAYS!) I’ve never been to a bank in my life that would put a customer in a position like that and embarrass them in front of at least 40 other people. This is very very very poor customer service. For a $100 cheque. I find it very funny , because around this time last year I had deposited a VERY LARGE cheque into this branch, and they took it NO QUESTIONS ASKED IN A BRAND NEW BANK ACCOUNT I HAD MADE 2 MINS BEFORE. THEY ALSO GAVE ME $1000 UP FRONT! Before the cheque was verified. I find this treatment to be unacceptable and this employee should be spoken to about CIBCs reputation, as she is presenting them. And the customer service needs to change. This manage “Poppy” also came up afterwards and told her to make sure it was the 5 day hold. CIBC should not have such judgmental people working in their stores. Really really looks bad and makes people want to leave your bank in general. CIBC should really be ashamed of this location. Horrible customer service. Worst service ever, I thought rbc was bad but I’m just going back there. I’d rather them than have a bank that I put over 100,000 into in a year treat me like this. I bet CIBC will not even rectify this, so my advice to everyone is to avoid this location, and this bank in general if they allow their customers to be treated this way.

I’ve never written this long of a review but I had such a terrible experience at this branch that I feel I must share. The incident involves a female teller wearing glasses whose name I remember starts with the letter “R” that mishandled my money and gave me incorrect banking information. I visited this branch on September 9 to deposit money at the teller. After they put the cash through a money counting machine, the amount they was $110 less than what I counted (multiple times) at home. When I questioned the amount, the teller hand-counted the $20 bills and said she counted 2 more $20 bills than what the machine counted, so $40 more than the initial machine-counted amount. But that was still less than what I counted. I was extremely sceptical so I didn’t go through with the transaction and requested the money back. I then requested to transfer money from my flexible GIC account to my chequing account and was told by that same teller that the GIC couldn't be cashed. So I left the bank without completing any of the transactions I wanted to make. I then went to another CIBC branch where the employee there was much more professional and transparent with my money. Without my request, they faced the money counter towards me so I could see the count of each denomination and recounted multiple times to confirm the correct amount of cash being deposited, which was the correct amount that I initially had counted. I was also able to transfer money from my flexible GIC to my chequing account. I will not be going back to the Morningside Crossing branch ever again and strongly caution against anyone going to this branch!

Today I was incredibly disappointed for the first time with this location with which I have been banking since 2003. I attempted to make a withdrawal from the bank machine at this location. The bank machine told me to withdraw my funds but no cash came out. When I checked my online banking I could see that the transaction had been done, in other words; the money was withdrawn from my account. When I sought out assistance I had to wait over 20 minutes for someone to speak to me in addition to that I was referred to the operations manager who advised me that what happens with the bank machines is not the business of Cibc and that I needed to contact my other financial institution from which I had drawn the funds. As I've been banking with this location and this institution for such a long time and having a number of financial vehicles with them, I expected and ask them to work with me on a solution. I was summarily dismissed with excuses and apologies. I proceeded to another Cibc location at which point I was apologized to profusely and a solution was found. If you have an opportunity to bank with a different location I highly recommend you do so. Customer service is everything and unfortunately this location staff does not appreciate that!

I so fed up with this location! Every time I think going to give them a chance I regret it so much. I have been going to this branch on and off for 10 years now and it has just gotten worse. The staff there is so unprofessional, and are too busy chatting amongst themselves to get the line moving. There is always a long line and clients are always complaining to each other. This time I went in to replace a card where the chip stopped working and asked if someone in the office could assist me to avoid the line because I was in a rush. I only made this request because every other time I went in to other cibc banks, the staff was very responsive and sorted it out quickly. Not only did I wait for over 25 minutes, someone came in after me and was assisted right away as if my issue did not matter. Employees that work in the offices were walking around having conversations and not a single person helped me. Extremely unprofessional and it's ALWAY this location. I ended up leaving without being assisted because I am so fed up. Clearly the staff there does not care about the horrible reviews and neither does cibc in general.

I am disappointed with the service and competence of some of the staff that were working today. There were not enough staff to accomodate the people who needed help. As usual, staff members were asking everyone in line to use the machines, however most of us in line already know the nature of our business cannot be completed on the machine and need a teller. So, I stayed in the line and it was a long line because they were short staffed... I needed to pay a tax related government bill which I received an online invoice and was told to go into the branch and speak to a teller. The teller told me she couldn't help me without a physical copy of the bill and that I would have to call the number on the back of the card for them to help me over the phone.... Are you kidding me? Why even bother having people working in the branch if you push everyone to just do everything through some kind of machine. Give me back the hefty bank fees I pay every month for customer service and then I'll do everything myself. It's CIBC, not Walmart and not everything needs to be self served, the hell are we even paying for?

If I could give this place -0 starts I would!!! Wait times are ridiculous, staff are incompetent and seem to be LAZY. Where in the world does it take 9days for a wire transfer to be processed? 24-30 min wait times? The only thing useful in this bank is the ATM. Shut it down!!!!!!! Edit: Day 5 of visiting the bank to follow up on the status of my wire transfer- manager not on site. The manager of this bank is not a man of his word, he soothes irate customers with words but does not follow through! After admitting that there was a routing error on behalf of CICB that caused 13 business days to go by without the monies being transferred, he promised that the fee for the wire transfer would be reimbursed and that has not happened. I’m disgusted by this institution and the people that work there- at this location. I’m closing all my accounts here as soon as possible and switching to RBC, their wire transfers are seamless and they are much more efficient.

I’ve been experienced high quality customer service at the CIBC Morningside And Kingston Branch. The representative Phiwo Nyathi has responded to a need I had regarding my bank statements. She was extremely patient and handled every step with care. It took her more than 3 hours to help with my need. She never showed any sign of tiredness or fatigue while she had to place multiple calls to get the right answers for me. She felt concerned in getting the best results that could satisfy my needs. I was very happy at the end, she made me very proud of being a customer of the branch. I think you are the best Phiwo, keep up the good work. Yalda

Have been banking there for over 40 years . The service always has been good, except a short stretch with one manger , she is gone now. The best teller by far is zarah, hope I spelt her name correct. She has been there for 20 years I believe. Also another teller ,don't know her name she deserves credit to. Thx. To you both. Use this branch they are very good . Thx. R. Chard. Customer service has gone downhill. They have hired tellers that maybe ENGLISH should be a requirement to spoken clearly and also understood. Hate to admit that I'm senior now and find I'm treated terrible by some tellers. Hate going inside to use the services.

Horrible branch. I did a wire transfer for the very first time and they sent it to the wrong account and then told me it was my fault, even though I provided a direct deposit form with all of the information that they needed. I was interrupted several times while explaining my situation and was spoken to in a very condescending manner. Once I get their mistake rectified I will never be returning to this branch again or using CIBC for any of my other banking needs for that matter. For anyone wanting to switch banks, go to RBC, their customer service is much better.

Made an appointment with Rachel Yao and showed up on time to open an account but just to be turned away. Apparently they’re “too busy” to open an account for you even after an appointment which they tell you to make when you line up to see a teller. I was going to open one with CIBC but not anymore. “Too busy” isn’t the point of an appointment to make it a smooth process BECAUSE you’re busy? They need to go to customer service classes 101. I will report her to head office for lack of unprofessional & racial profiling.

The worst I’ve ever experienced in my life is the CIBC bank, I’ve found a house for rent and went to CIBC to the cheque’s book , i ordered the the cheque’s book twice and didn’t get anything, when i talk to them they say we don’t know where is it, I lost the house because the lanlord said you’re lying because there is no bad service like this in Canada but guys trust me yes , I am going to change all my banking informations to TD because they are really professionals , NO MORE DEALING WITH CIBC

My Residential Mortgage deal was closed as of March 16, 2021 with the Help of Goldie Sharma of CIBC. Excellent, Knowledgeable Mortgage specialist who will take away all the stress you may have in arranging a Mortgage. Mortgage rates Goldie can offer is the best in my case ,probably no other A lender can beat. I can vouch for Goldie's Professionalism and superb knowledge of a really Complex Mortgage deal. Very poor customer service. The lines are always long and the employees are always just standing their like they have nothing to do. I'm writing this while standing in line, I've been waiting in line for 34 mins and there is still 5 customers in front of me. I've been banking here for many years and only do so because I live about a 2 min walk by the with that said you would think over the years the customer service would get better not worst!!!!

I went to a CIBC branch, and I was really impressed with their exceptional customer service and friendly staff. There was a particular staff member, who I'm not sure if he was a manager, that personally assisted every customer with their questions. The staff member ar the counter who helped me was extremely courteous and helpful. This was the first positive experience I've had in Canada since my arrival.

Extremely Poor customer service. I dread to ever go to this branch. Long wait times, no one answering the branch phones,( even branch manager does not answer voice messages) personal banking offices have very poor knowledge of their products. Very very substandard overall experience. Even though this is the closest CIBC branch to my house, I would rather go to another branch for my banking needs.

Poor customer service. Bank does not pick up their general telephone line (despite multiple calls on multiple occasions at different times throughout the day), nor replies to voicemails left there. In an appointment with a Financial Services Officer, the Officer could not obtain information from his own institution via telephone without being on hold for over 20 minutes.

Called for assistance with my new online savings account opening and this guy asked me to come to the branch center when I needed this done urgently. Called RBC and 5 new accounts were opened in less than 10 mins on the phone. Take these folks to training because the guy literally told me "I don't know how to do it online" really?!?! Lucky there's no zero star option.

The worst experience i ever had. I been with cibc for over 10 years and never have i ever been treated like a criminal. The teller were having personal conversations with the clints while there were 6 pepold waiting in line. After 30 mins and not end in site i decided to get a new card. David Castro is a difficult person with very bad customer service skills.

Do not attempt to contact this branch via phone - they literally never, ever pick up their general line and I have never been successful in reaching someone at their extension for the same reason. They do not call back and really this is pitiful considering I've left numerous voicemails. Don't waste your time here.
