I don’t write reviews often, but my experience at this campus had me frustrated enough to do so. We arrived at the campus because my mom was having a medical emergency. The security person / receptionist (who goes by the name Heidi) at the front door stopped my sister and my mom at the door because the new COVID protocol only allows for one visitor in the ER waiting room. Clearly, my mom is not in a condition to walk herself into the ER room. She did not offer assistance nor ask if we needed assistance – she is just blindly enforcing the “one person in the waiting room” policy. Then I arrived after I parked my car and when I entered, I was given the same “I don’t care about you” treatment. I called my sister to come out from the waiting room before I entered. Heidi was clearly not happy at her job and did not show any empathy. The family is under stress and Heidi is not helping the situation. I was very frustrated and snapped at her – yes, I apologize for my behavior. Then she called someone to bounce me out of the ER waiting room – the security guard said no visitors allowed in the ER waiting room – seriously, mind blown. This is clearly contradictory to the policy a few minutes ago. My mom hasn’t settled in yet, and I said I am not leaving until I know the status of my mom. However, the security guard showed no empathy and bounced me out of the waiting room – I suppose he is also just doing his job without understanding the situation. He asked me to call the ER front desk. I called and shortly after they allowed me back into the ER waiting room and I was able to explain the reason for the ER visit. Heidi said she is just doing her job. I understand but empathy goes a long way to help family members going through a difficult situation. It is not just a job and if the person is not invested in the customer experience, that person should not be there.
I would like to say the care specifically on 1 south was nothing but top notch. I jad to be there for 6 months. The cnas do so much and they are pushed so hard on.that floor. That floor is a sniff . They have many different levels of care on that one floor. I have seen 1 cna to one whole side of a floor. U just wanted to.say Thank you To Grace,Jennifer, sharron, stella.Val,Jason ,Rick , Jp fil, Jenny, Claudia and if I forgot anyone I apologize. I am truly greatful for the care and love you all showed me. It was simply awesome. The arts therapy folks Jessica my Gemini homie . To be in a place for 6 mo ths it was very hard on me and my family. There were times where I couldn't get an vistors due to covid. These nurses and cnas went above and beyond to make sure u had a shoulder to lean on a ear. They let me play music in the hall Some cnas brought me plants to liven up my room or snacks I was very glad that I had who I had for my care. My dr gheng he is great too very patient with me. Dr Young he was the only Dr to pray with me that meant so much. It showed me they are human too. They just don't go to work to get paid . The PT department is amazing. I had kelly and Deb sometimes chuck. Kelly is a rock star pt person. We worked very well together. I credit all my walking stairs ando movements to the staff of 1 south and Kelly andDeb. Thank you so much for being safe with me but also letting me spread my wings. You guys are awesome. Thank you so much. I still get pt here but outpatient. They are great greJust all around great people. if you ever need to know of people give a damn. then sit with a cna from 1 south or a nurse you will know for sure. Great medical technology and just great care.
Overall: 2 stars, wouldn’t recommend I’m 30 YO; Went to the ER with stroke-like symptoms. The worst part was that there really seemed to no communication across departments. The ER staff was hostile to the neurologist. Multiple different nurses asked me the same exact questions. Not a great experience. Reception: 0 stars The women kept INSISTING she needed the address of my pharmacy and my primary care. Absolutely needed both before they could provide care. When I said I didn’t know the address she started to belittle me, queue sarcastic remarks etc. She said unless I gave it to her I wasn’t leaving the reception so good luck. I asked for my husband who brought me to the ER. She said he wouldn’t be allowed to be with me because they didn’t have enough beds so they’d put me in the hallway and that was violating other patients’ privacy or some such BS. I started crying because I was scared (ya know, suspected stroke, in pain, dealing with a really nasty person). She said if I couldn’t pull myself together then they’d have to sedate me. ER staff: 4 stars Very friendly, but took them almost an hour to even have anyone talk to me. After the doc arrived things went really quickly. Cause ya know, when it comes to strokes time is of the essence. Neurologist & ER Lam MD: 5 stars Really helpful and compassionate.
As a physician, I am very disappointed in the care I received here. I came in for what I suspected was an asthma exacerbation. All I needed was a long acting bronchodilator, maybe some cough syrup to help me sleep would have been nice, but they informed me that they would not be prescribing me with any medications and to continue to take the over the counter medications as well as my asthma inhaler that I had already been using (and were not helping me). My PCP office is closed for the holidays, which is the reason I came in the first place (I try not to self prescribe medications). The nursing staff was very kind, but the treating physician was incompetent at best. Having nursing staff wish me luck in treating my symptoms is not what I would expect from a medical institution. They then charged me $200 more than my listed copay, stating that’s what it came up as on my insurances website. I would stay away from this emergency department. As a quick summary, I paid $325 for them to tell me to continue taking the over the counter medications that I had already been taking.
First time at the ICU,ER for anything, and the experience went by so quickly and smoothly I was surprised. I came in for serotonin syndrome and was seen and treated immediately. The nurses were the absolute highlight of my stay there. Duke, Petra, Kelly, Liz, Patty and Helise were all amazing. I was assisted very quickly every time I pressed the call button. Petra talked to me about nurse experience since I’ve been considering the medical field, and Kelly let me talk her ear off about video games. The cleaning staff was excellent too and even helped me move one time even though they are not part of the nursing staff. They also provided 3 meals a day which were quite good (I just didn’t have much of an appetite due to my syndrome.) I was able to be released in about 3 days which I was grateful for such a quick response. They provided me with a packet of follow up information and specialists to see after discharge. Overall it was a quite pleasant experience and I just wanted to make a shout out to all the wonderful employees who helped me!
Very disappointed with how they treated my sister in this hospital. My sister got worse the minute she entered this hospital. This hospital was suppose to help her get stronger and help her MS from getting worst the minute she went in there asking for help and telling them her symptoms. She came in walking, talking, hearing and feeling. They took her in to not do anything. We waited everyday for something to be done. Instead her hearing, vision, feeling and her speech went away slowly when she was there. They sent her home with a uti and sent her home when she lost everything. They said home would help her feel better!!! We didn’t know what to do at home with her like that. How were we supposed to help her get better? When it was time to send her back for an acute rehabilitation they rejected her and said they had just sent her home a couple weeks ago and had already trained her family to take care of her. Please do not send your loved ones here if you want them to get better look somewhere else please!
This review is specifically for my ER Nurse, Ashley. I had the pleasure of being taken care of by Ashley during a recent visit to the ER, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care she provided. Ashley went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and informed throughout the entire process, even though the ER was very busy. Her kindness, compassion, and professionalism truly made a difference in my experience, and I am so grateful for her help. Ashley took the time to listen to my concerns, answer my questions, and provide me with the care I needed. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ashley for everything she did to make my visit to the ER a little easier. Her dedication to her patients and commitment to providing quality care is truly admirable, and I feel lucky to have had her as my nurse. If you are ever in need of medical attention, I highly recommend seeking Ashley's care.
I am writing to commend an outstanding member of your team. Immediately following my wife's cancer surgery, Mr. Devon Simmons, a highly professional security guard, provided excellent customer service in facilitating my post-surgery visit to my wife. Not only was it a difficult time which he handled extremely sensitively and compassionately; in addition, there were a number of logistical issues which he helped us navigate and work through. Most importantly, my wife's surgery was a complete success -- but in addition, Mr. Simmons' exemplary attitude made the situation as smooth as it could possible be given the circumstances. CPMC should be commended for having such excellent personnel on staff. Thank you kindly.
I ended up in this ER twice for fainting episodes. I dealt with two separate sets of doctors and nurses, as I came in on two different shifts. I had a good experience all around- Folks were friendly, competent, and tests were run on time. Communication was good with both myself and my husband who brought me in, and I felt safe there. I was checked on regularly and didn't feel "forgotten" in a corner, even though my issue was not acute. My only gripe was that a 1 mile trip to this hospital in an ambulance cost (drumroll please) $4,500. That's just insane. I don't know how much of the pricing is in the hands of the hospital, however.
i asked operator for medical records and she re-directed me to the site. (i already saw it, wanted to know if i could pop down there instead of waiting 15 days.) she said they usually cann't print my info out (front desk). badly run the ehs rep kept "not hearing" me, so i yelled so she could. then, she said that she's gonna terminate and won't tolerate yelling. what a joke! wouldn't transfer me to manager. cpmc is a joke. operators aren't able to transfer to managers either. some of the people did their j obs adequately. 2 appear nice like the LVN.
Re: ER Services. We first went to another hospital nearby and the receptionist told us unsympathetically and almost sarcastically that it would be a “nice little wait of 2 hours plus.” The waiting room was dark and sad. While my wife checked in I immediately called CPMC Davis and an actual friendly human picked up. He said they would see us in minutes. We cancelled the registration and drove here. We arrived and encountered great fast customer service. We waited about 5 minutes to be seen and the waiting room doesn’t look like a mortuary.
This is for the fabulous practitioners who work in the ER. The Huz was taken in by ambulance with a suspected heart attack. When we left 9 hours later with a less-concerning diagnosis, we knew Huz had received world-class care from everyone involved. We esp appreciate super-nurses Laura Mani and Bryan Mayo, Drs. Priscilla Yee, Browser and Lief, and Jenny, Julio and Kyle. Our most recent experience reinforces the faith and trust we've always had in CPMC.
Recent surgery & overnight stay. Staff from registration to post op floor did their best but floor nursing clearly understaffed. As a retired nurse i had to advocate way too much for my safety and comfort. Once out the door, home care order got lost & no followup. I completed the online patient survey asking for a quality manager to contact me, no response. So disappointed.
The staff at 45 Castro is generally ok. But my recent experience says this medical facility is horrible and they do not treat their patients with care or respect. they’re grossly understaffed. I have been going here for 17 years !! And things have become bad in 2022. Do not go here ! Save yourself and goto the Valencia location if you must or avoid Sutter for now
I have so many compliments about CPMC Davies/Sutter Health. I'd like to start w/ Devon who is your first impression; security. He keeps everyone safe and he was kind to us knowing we had family in ICU and he was encouraging. Everyone in ICU and 3rd floor were amazing to us during a hard time. GREAT care. Thank you Sutter Health Davies❤
One staff member was so rude and horrible! I can’t imagine deciding to be a doctor and being cruel to patients undergoing scary experiences. He is bald because his heart is barren! You know who you are! I was left alone while I had a seizure. 2 stars are for the other staff who were kind
I had surgery there yesterday. The people working there could not have been nicer. From the security guard to the registration people to the xray department to the surgical nurses and lab techs and wonderful doctors, I am truly grateful. And thank you to my wonderful doctor. Dr. Grady.
Dr. Andrews, his assistant, Keely, and the Acute Rehab Team including Geary, Sydney, all the fine nurses, and social workers took stellar care of our family member, RQ. The ICU team was great too. We can't thank you enough for saving his life.
I was a patient for 10 days after double knee replacement. My care was professonal and compassionate. The physical therapy took me from flat on my back to walking. Real attention to pain control at all times.
The doctors and nurses, were the best care that I received in any hospital. I think you from the bottom of my heart for your care. Oh yeah, the foods great too
