I had a very disappointing experience during my visit to Universal Parsi Cafe. Having been a customer for over 10 years, I was expecting the same quality and taste that I had enjoyed in the past. However, I must say that my recent trip was the complete opposite. First and foremost, the food at Universal Parsi Cafe was extremely unhygienic. It's disheartening to see a decline in quality and cleanliness, especially when you have a long-standing relationship with a restaurant. The hygiene standards were nowhere near what they used to be, and it greatly affected my dining experience. The overall atmosphere and ambiance of the cafe were also lacking. The place seemed to have lost its charm and character over the years. It didn't have the same inviting and cozy feel that it once had, making the experience even more disappointing. Based on my recent experience, I cannot recommend Universal Parsi Cafe to others. It's unfortunate to see a beloved establishment fall so far from its former glory. I hope that the management takes note of these issues and takes the necessary steps to improve the quality, hygiene, and overall experience for their customers.

One of the rare 5 stars... Absolutely loved the place... Old time vibes with dim lights & pictures. Best place to chill out with friends over beer & good food. Food - Bombay duck (fish) was a good change compared to the the Maharashtran style. Steak burger - simple, loved it (fries below average) the burger compensated for it. Bread pudding - nostalgia... Took me back to my child hood Note - my wife appriaciated the clean washroom. Will be back to taste the Iranian dishes

We were five friends meeting. To chat, chat and chat. Town restaurants like you to eat and exit. No pressure was put on us to order fast. Aur kya aur kya did not happen. Draft Beer is by various pitcher capacity so bigger the group more fun. Mutton cutlet was good but large. Need three to finish as we had ordered multiple food. I loved the egg cheese omlete sandwich. Not crowded. Comfortable seating. Excellent loo. Very clean. Top class service. Polite and not intrusive. We met the owner couple.

A historic cafe at the heart of the city of Bombay, what else would you need to get all the vintage feels? Introduced by my sister, I finally visited this beautiful cafe. A peaceful place with open doors and windows, it is a break from all the congested closed spaces with ACs. The food is fine, ordered Chicken lollipops to comments our drinks - quite decent and tasty. The ambience give you a feeling of sitting inside an antique classy place with a big vintage wall clock placed carefully at the middle of the BIG wall. Bottles of alcohol placed as decoratives adds a dash of awesomeness to the whole place. Quite high on price, but worth it- the ambience, the booze and the people there. It's in the ground floor, fully accessible to all. Add ons : Beautiful paintings and curved steel furniture. Do visit once!✅

Cafe Universal has a pretty sophisticated and elegant environment. The staff here is well behaved and respectful. The cafe is located in the midst of Mumbai and hence has a lively feel to it. Their food is also tasty and well prepared. I had went there with my friends to hangout and have a good time . We decided to order two Cold Coffees and one Coke Float which btw is so much more better than any Float I had ever had. For food we went with Nachos and Mushroom Sizzler. The food was hot and delicious. Only one drawback, I unfortunately found a worm in my sizzler and the staff were very kind to not add the sizzler to the bill. But that's a tip, if you do visit a place that has a dim lighting be sure to check your food properly. Other than that I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

The food was outstanding - the Bombay duck (fish) offered a delightful change, the steak burger was simple yet delicious (fries could be better), and the bread pudding brought back nostalgic memories. The service was top-notch, and the staff went above and beyond. Clean washrooms were a pleasant surprise, but parking was a bit challenging (the guard helped us out). With reasonable prices and a memorable experience, I can't wait to go back and try their Iranian dishes. Café Universal is a hidden treasure not to be missed!

From the list of few old placed that remind us about old Mumbai. My love for Peace loving Parsi community can be one more of the reasons to visit this place. Takes you back to old Mumbai memories. The interior has obvious impact of Parsi/Persian culture. The old furniture with the addition of modern bench like sitting. They serve casual food items which will suite well along a pitcher of beer . Food options are good and the portion sizes are also enough. Nice place to hangout with old friends over some drinks... But be descent and sobur and maintain the decency of the well maintained place.

I recently discovered this place when I was looking to eat a sizzler. Were much delighted to visit such an old legendary cafe running since 1921. Firstly the ambience is really awesome and cossy. It has this old Bombay Irani vibe. The ceiling with its wooden beams is really great and the tables and chairs are very reminiscent of what old Bombay restaurants used to be. There are drinks available at a reasonable price but it prides. The food is very good and quite affordable. I tried their chicken sizzlers it was really good and something different...... I also tried fish and chips simple but tasty as pomfret was served........ Also tried typical parsi tea which was ok..... Would like to visit this place again to try something new.

I loooooved this place! I recently discovered this place when I was looking to eat a sizzler on a rainy day and was super happy to find this place. Firstly the ambience is really cute. It has this old Bombay Irani vibe. The ceiling with its wooden beams is really great and the tables and chairs are very reminiscent of what old Bombay restaurants used to be. There are drinks available at a reasonable price but it prides itself to be a beer place. The food is very good and quite affordable. We had two different meat sizzlers with cheese and veggies and it was more than enough for three people! Lastly, the service staff was really friendly. Couldn’t recommend this place more for some old Bombay feels and charm!

Old-world charm in beautiful Ballard Estate. Even though it's on the main road, it is easily missed as the façade blends in with the neighbouring buildings. The small entrance belies a spacious and cool interior. My visit was blessedly peaceful, arriving as I did to beat the lunchtime crowd. I tucked into the club sandwich before I could take a picture! It was stuffed to the brim with all good things - buff, chicken, pork, eggs and cheese. Attentive service along with a calm ambience - a real treat away from the hustle bustle of the city.

A decent experience with average food. Didn’t like the Dhaan chaak rice and gravy. But the lemon soda was Fabulous and probably the best i have had. The Chicken Chi (Thai) was great too. Paneer Pizza was below average as the crust was a bit too hard some places. Spring Roll was lovely!! Not for families with kids.

In Mumbai and not visiting Cafe Universal ? Then you're definitely missing out an amazing cold coffee with ice-cream and sandwiches ! It's always a great experience at cafe universal. Btw you can miss out on the dessert. You can easily find an alternate for it - that to in a less price ! Also I didn't like the bread pudding much. Enjoy the food !

Just at the corner, a lovely restaurant. Ample seating. Still Old Charm and elegant interiors. Very well done up. Restaurant was very clean. They serve both food and drinks (including alcohol). We tried the, 1) Meat Chilly (dry, chinese style) 2) Mutton Dhansak (Parsi special, rice with gravy) 3) Roast Meat Sandwich (Meat Chilly Fry in toasted double decker slice bread) 4) Caramel Custard (soft and fluffy, the best I've ever tasted) The dishes were all super and tasty. Prices was alright. Service was fast and smiling. Lots of foreigners regularly visit this restaurant.

Visited Universal after many years. Still the same. Non AC, spruced up Irani cafe serving drinks and food. No complaints. Decent maintenance. Clean washroom.

Cafe Universal is an old Iranian cafe in Mumbai with lovely decor. During my visit, I ordered beef chili and mutton keema. The beef chili was tender and delicious, but the mutton keema was just average. I also had Gin & Tonic, which was a refreshing option on a sunny day. If you're in Mumbai, I would recommend visiting Cafe Universal for a relaxing experience. The cafe is also popular among foreigners. Overall, my experience at Cafe Universal was good.

You get what you see kind of place - simple cafe to grab a beer and some food before heading out to the town for a night out. It is one of those places where you either end up after partying some place else or you start from here. We usually go as a group, get a beer or two have some sauages and then get going. Clean, good and quick service, clean restrooms and has an old world meeting place kind of a vibe. I have never seen the place crowded , so you can sit and have a chat.

This place has a nice rustic feel to it. It has souvenirs from different places around the world which add to its ambience. Now on to the food - generous portions, tasty, has a wide variety on the menu from Irani to Parsi to continental. We had ordered fish and chips - really liked, chicken roast fry - was kinda bland and not what we had expected so disappointed with that, and lastly ghormeh sabzi mutton - liked. Was my second visit and would definitely visit again.

Oh we loved the spicy BBQ veg pizza and chicken burger Draught was just there to compliment ❤️

They have a beautiful ambience, and decor. They have ample space for big groups as well as singles. Service: Its good. Though personally I have a suggestion they should serve water before it is asked for. Thats one thing they do not do. Food: Quantity wise it is good. Taste is average whether it is their steak sizzler, or mutton pulao. The caramel custard definitely needs work and lacked taste as well as appearance.

Heaven for non vegetarians. Good ambience. Service is also superb. You will enjoy the vibe over here. Must try kheem pav or anything else you like to have in parsi style. Costs for two was ₹₹₹ with out alcohol. Parking space i am not sure became it location is in quite busy area. I would love to visit once again.

This is one cozy Irani place. The food is amazing. The choice of drinks is good too. There is a particular warmth to this place and makes it good for a family to hang out too. We ordered one O. M. G Burger between two. We actually exclaimed "OMG!" the portions are good...! Overall it is a lovely place. Love the food and the decor.

Absolutely loved the place... Old time vibes with dim lights & pictures. Best place to chill out with friends over beer & good food. Bombay duck (fish) was a good change.

The place has amazing interiors giving a vintage vibe to the place... Because this place is serving since 1921. Very airy and comfortable. Many good dishes to choose from. Not all dishes are great though. Portion sizes are good. No parking space.

I Had a very great time here ! No words can describe how awesome of an experienced had ! The food was tasty, present well and the ambiance was beautiful too ! The owners Mr.Ustad and his Wife are Gems!!! I had pleasant dinner on cafe universal

We ordered Anda kheema which was okaish!!! We didn’t like it much as it was loaded with masala. Also we ordered cold coffee which was worth spend! Ambience is pretty cool, old parsi style Rates of all the products are top notch. Too costly.

We had a pleasure of staying there for three days. The hygiene was commendable. Especially, I would like to express my heartful gratitude for the service and hospitality they provided.

Since 1921, One of the oldest cafe in South Mumbai. One can have peaceful conversation and enjoy beer and food. Persian, continental, Indian and many more cuisine on the menu.

Club Chicken Sandwiches and Coffee was good. Chicken Caesar salad should be avoided at any cost. The service staff was less than expected but the overall atmosphere was good.

Just a century cafe. Amazing ambience and good food. That is if you like Parsi food . Should try the chicken burger. Two people can have one. Would recommend it to all.

Food was not as expected. Worst was mutton dhansak. Only saving grace was the mutton ball with it. Sizzler was also bad. Chicken grill with French fries was ok. Dessert was ok. Service was very slow compared to taste.

One of those Irani cafes in the original Bombay that is keeping up with the times yet hasn't given up on its identity entirely. Reasonably priced drinks and food. Try the specials if you're hungry.

One of the best cafes I've ever been to. Nice staff, delicious Iranian food and also a great place sit and chill. Highly recommend to come and visit. It's closed on Sundays.
