As a New Yorker at heart, it’s hard for me to find pizza that I really enjoy. On many occasions, I’ve sought pizza only to find saucy cheesy bread, which is pizza-like but still not pizza. In this review, however, you’ll find that I was pleasantly surprised by Caffé Calabria, which is named after a southwest region in Italy, plus the word “caffé,” which translates roughly to “cafe.” Service Ah, so here’s a tip for you: don’t try to [unintentionally] gaslight the guy at the counter by asking how the pizza will arrive at your table even though you didn’t order pizza. Only if you’re lucky will he laugh at your attempts to brush it away with a joke. I was not lucky. Atmosphere At Calabria Caffé, there’s indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is limited to a few tables against the building and near the street. Indoor seating is limited to the indoors - yep. Food Arugula and prosciutto pizza was so good. On the drinks front, the Negroni Royale was very nice and so was the espresso martini, which was slightly bitter. I’d be curious to try the other pizzas and drinks. Price Affordable Recommend? Yes

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Calábria and it's an experience I'll cherish for a long time. If you are a coffee enthusiast, then Calábria is a must-visit destination. They serve some of the most exquisite coffee I've ever had - fresh, aromatic, and ground on the spot. Their attention to detail is truly evident in each cup they serve. What stood out even more for me was their delicious pizza. Their gluten-free crust is a delight for those looking for a healthier alternative without compromising on taste. Each bite was an explosion of flavors, perfectly balanced and thoughtfully assembled. I cannot write this review without a special mention of Blake, the pizza maestro. Not only does he craft the most delicious pizzas, but his passion for his craft and commitment to customer satisfaction truly set him apart. He exudes an infectious joy that enhances the entire dining experience. In summary, Calábria is more than just a coffee place - it's a hub of passion, excellence, and culinary delights. I highly recommend it to all food and coffee lovers out there. Don't forget to try the pizza and say hi to Blake when you visit!

A beautiful building that seems teleported out of place from Europe into the North Park neighborhood serving you pizza and coffee. The dough they make here is absolutely *chefs kiss* and its not often that you can pair your coffee with an Italian classic. There's an upstairs area that I have yet to explore so I'll hold off my review on that but the potential for night time hangouts will be on my calendar soon. Awesome place to stop by for a little bite or pick me up but if you're looking to WFH here read on... Spacious with plenty of seating that varies from library style study tables to proper bar and restaurant furniture, this is ALMOST the ideal place to go do work remotely if it weren't for two things: 1. When they get to roasting their coffee it gets loud. Like, muffled Jet Engine next door loud. Don't expect to take meetings here without some serious noise cancellation. 2. Mosquitoes. I always manage to leave the place with at least 3+ mosquito bites due to the open air layout. Not sure what they can do about it exactly but I'd pack my repellant if you're prone to bites.

Such a cool spot. Authentic Italian and a really special mix of Caffe, Pizza and everything yummy. We normally also buy our coffee beans here. They have a huge variety and is always fresh and roasted right there in a giant roaster. You can buy any time but some special flavors are sold only during the week until 3. I adore their marguerita pizza with búfala mozzarella. The tomatoe sauce is Italian and the dough is amazing. But pizza is only from Thursdays to sundays. Last time we came I found an outdoor are they have in the back that is so cute and romantic. But honestly it feels like coming to a friends house because they have so many places where you can choose to be comfortable, even ping pong table. Almost forgot to say, their paninis are so fresh and flavorful. Their team is nice and polite but our favorite guy is the Brazilian pizza guy. Have to say I was missing someone like this here. Super friendly and attentive and make sure you are well served.

Excellent espresso, good pizza, great location, and the most annoying owner. Arne Holt is the most disrespectful person I ever met in my life. Horrible attitude towards the employees and customers. I used to come to this place for many years. I was going there at least four times a week. Arne Holt is a toxic boss. His toxic behavior is directly related to huge turnaround among employees. It does not help that he likes to drink a lot. By 10:00-11:00am is already drinking the beer. He is a chronic heavy drinker that displays a functional tolerance to the point that he shows few obvious signs of intoxication even at high blood alcohol concentrations, which in others would be incapacitating. Having an alcoholic boss could also be jeopardizing your own career as well. It’s difficult because if there is a problem at work, you’ll usually go to your boss, so how can you do that when your boss is the problem?

The coffee is SO GOOD. I had a Bicerin and a Cappuccino, and my friend had a Viennese. They we're all delicious! We didn't get to try the food because the chef was out sick, but I'm definitely coming back to try that pizza! The service was great, super nice staff, it was close to closing and they gave us pastries for free since we couldn't get food The restaurant is HUGE, so many areas to sit indoors and also an outside area. Great place to do some work, or to meet with friends and talk, since it's not super loud. Parking sucks, but we went in the weekday so we were able to park in the Chase parking lot a block down in front of Queen Bee's and it wasn't crazy expensive. $5 for 2 hrs I think, then $3/hr after that.

The coffee is excellent. The 11 to 2 PM 12$ brick oven pizza is a good deal. We had the Prosciutto and Arugula, with fresh mozzarella and that was delicious. The doughy crust was lovely. We also had the Mini Sospratta (?) sandwich and that was super tasty. We had the chocolate mousse cheesecake to top off our lunch, and some sparkling water. The ambiance is nice inside and outside. There are limited sandwich options for lunch but a very nice array of sweet treats and some baked goods, to include cannolis, various cakes, muffins and croissants. This is a take an order at the counter, take a number, food will be brought out when ready place, so remember to tip anyway to support the service staff. Off street parking required a block walk to cafe. A very pleasant visit.

I can’t say enough about how good their pizza was. Had their Margherita and Diavola pies and both were delicious! The amount of sauce and cheese on both, along with the perfect level of crispy, made for some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. The salame picante on the Diavola had a really nice flavor and spice to it without being over the top (enough to justify adding a little crushed red pepper as needed). If their pizza wasn’t good enough, we also had an Affogato and Coldbrew on our wait out. I’d definitely recommend trying their coffee as well. Couple all of that with the friendly service and this is absolutely a place I’ll be coming back to every time I’m in town.

I had been there a few times and the last time was a huge disappointment. I ordered basil and cheese on my pizza, and paid the extra charges. Not a problem, but when I received the pizza there was no extra cheese or basil. I counted, Simply 4 small cut off pieces of basil on the pizza. When I spoke to the guy who took my order he said that he told the pizza chef about the extra ingredients and that was it. He did nothing to accommodate the order and did not apologize either. He walked away without any regard and started to give back an attitude. I took a picture and attaching for evidence and I hope the manager can respond to me. As you can see four pieces of basil and almost no cheese. I paid for extra cheese and extra basil.

This place is just amazing. First off, the location and the decoration of the place is perfect. The restaurant is massive, so you can find yourself sitting by the road, indoors, or even in a small plaza outside. The design is very modern and clean. Next, the prices are very reasonable (pizzas are about $14, calzones are also $14). The portions are big and the food tastes very authentic. The food wasn't layered with oil and grease like most Italian restaurants based in America. It had great taste and didn't make me feel terrible afterwards. The calzone is massive and I would say that if you aren't that hungry, it could definitely feed two people. Will definitely be coming back here!

This place has gone down hill. Used to be a regular at this place but over the last 6 months or so it's gone down hill. First, it's dirty. Swarms of flies inside. My daughter spilled some water on the wood bench we we're sitting at. I grabbed some napkins to clean it up. After I wiped it down my napkin was black with Filth. That's were customers sit, can't imagine what's hiding in all the nooks and crannies. Also they got rid of waiter service which is fine but now you have to cut your own pizza with giant pizza sissiors. What!? Also last time I was in my pizza came out burnt. It tastes bitter like ash. I returned it again and they remade. It came out burnt again!

If you come here to do any work make sure you order something or else the drunk, micro-managing owner will come up to you and tell you to leave. Been coming here often and have been ordering every time and the one time I didn't order something, the owner looking plastered walks up to me basically telling me I should leave if I don't order something. And that is exactly how you lose a consistent customer. Dude is just walking around drinking and bossing his staff around. He does this in front of all the customers as well which kills the vibe and atmosphere. Great staff and great place but the owner not so great.

It's been about a year since I've been in the area and could visit Caffe Calabria, but I've recently been pining for their espresso, pizza, and desserts (their cheesecakes are amazing!) Inside is cozy and relaxing, service is amazing, but my favorite part was sitting at their outside patio. Despite being right next to traffic, the enclosure did a good job of creating a comparable dining experience, and it was much more enjoyable sitting there than at other restaurants' outdoor seating areas.

I cannot find enough good things in my heart to say about this place. I have never been one to go out to a cafe to do study or work, but cafe calabria has a beautiful ambiance and amazing food, coffee, and a nice drink menu. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and their pizzas! I come once a week to treat myself. Priced very reasonably and its just incredible. 10/10 please bring your business here.

Where do I start! This place is awesome! The coffee is great the people are great! I discovered this place for the first time during a Google Local Guide meetup! The vibe here is super chill and everyone is nice, Max is so awesome and has a passion for coffee and espresso just like me. Max makes each cup with passion and art behind each pour, which will give the coffee a better and richer taste when treated right. The place is pretty big, it has 2 rooms, front and back and also an upstairs with a patio out back. For parking there is either street parking or the North park parking garage 1 block away!

DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES Their drink process is so disorganized and it cannot be guaranteed that you get the correct drinks due to disorganization and misinformation. They really need to figure something out label the drinks do something. I ve never ever had this experience before anywhere even in countries where English isn’t the primary language. Just as other reviews state they won’t be apologetic if something happens to you either. Completely unacceptable do better. Restaurants have the responsibility of ensuring their customers have a safe meal.

This place exceeded my expectations, I ordered the Salciccia Pizza and it was delicious. Thin pizza, good crust, perfect amount of sauce and cheese, crispy at the bottom, good tasting sausage, light in your belly, this place checked every box on my list, I will be back for sure. It is very affordable too, I paid like 15 $ for a pizza! Got some madeleines too and those were tasty as well!

Food was amazing, although service wasn’t that good. They brought our order all separated so we were hungry looking at our friends eating. We ordered 2 coffees and received one, when we asked for the other one, they were “oh really?”. The guy in the register was nice but baristas weren’t happy to work. Seemed a favor lol Besides that, pizza was delicious.

Twice now I have gone to the coffee shop here and said "Can I have any coffee? You pick, something random, surprise me!" Both times they have been really into it and I get there sense that the people here really enjoy what they do. Always friendly, and always accommodateing. On top of that, both times they told me if I didn't like it I could come back for something else (seemed to be implied it would be on the house). The people here are kind, and take pride in there job. I see no reason for this not to become my new go to coffee spot!

What a great spot for a Friday night pizza and chianti. We had three different pizzas and some beer and wine. All delish and the thin crusts were perfect. Pretty fun that you get personal scissors to cut up your pizza to eat! To top it off they arrived with lightning speed which was perfect since we were famished. Decor reminds me of some local haunts I've visited in Italy and the high ceilings give an airy atmosphere. Be sure to check out the big coffee machines in the other room. Unisex bathrooms provided.

I was in town for a few days and needed a good remote-work location. This place was wonderful for that. Excellent coffee, solid pastry options, lots of seating, reliable wifi, and friendly staff. The only nock on it is that it gets quite loud when they're roasting and grinding their beans, which is par for the course at a good coffee shop, but it did make some meetings hard to hear. But great place overall!

So SO yummy. The pizzas are a tad bigger than a personal size- you could definitely eat one yourself because they’re thin. I was with 3 people and we got 4 pizzas and were still a little hungry.. haha. They have a great deal where you can do 2 pizzas for $19 and we just did two of those. Also got dessert after and I kid you not- this place has the BEST baklava I’ve ever had in my entire life. It was ridiculously moist. My brain could not comprehend. Very cool atmosphere too with outdoor and indoor seating.

Located in the heart of North Park on 30th street, Caffe Calabria has one of the best pizzas you will find in all of San Diego. Homemade pizza dough, great atmosphere and fun staff. Can watch them make your pizza when you walk in or grab a table or sit at the bar (where we were). Great food, great drinks! Don’t go too to late, they may run out of pizza dough on busy days/nights.

Ordered pizza from here because I keep hearing great things about them and was surprised by how good it taste. Must be the wood fire stove that gives it some extra flare. Since we are still in this Pandemic we ordered it to go. What I like most about Neapolitan pizza is that it is light and doesn't fill you up right away, which can also be a bad thing because you end up eating a whole pie by yourself. Will be back to try the coffee.

Been here multiple times with big gaps of time in between. It seems that every time the service gets worst, amd now they don't serve french presses any more. The staff seems indifferent and slow. During my visit there were several dogs just roaming lose with no leash, barefoot customers, and dirty tables. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the coffee is good.

  • Kevin Huang

The space is nice. There are power plugs into the back booths if you want to charge your computer or phone. Espresso drinks are solid. Pastries are good too. It does get loud because they actively roast their beans, making it difficult to talk but if that doesn't bother you the place is solid. When you are done working there are beers on tap and alcohol available

Vera pizza napolitana. The excellent quality you’d expect worldwide when you see the symbol. The coffee was also the best we had in San Diego (we come from Seattle so this was the first we had that was actually great). Excellent service and friendly, joyful attitude from the staff. Casual place. Loved it with the kids. Highly recommend!

Hidden gem! Walking by this I might’ve not stopped by, but luckily discovered it during the San Diego Coffee Crawl. There’s a cute patio upstairs as well.

I like the area. Nice layout and newly themed seating area. Ambiance is better than the Chai Tea Latte. Although the Chai was tasty (I would order it again), it's presentation was more memorable. Fotos below.

I keep coming back to Caffe Calabria when I'm in the area. Their espresso drinks are yummy, their atmosphere is dope, and at night they have a bar that serves alcoholic beverages. What is there to not like?!

  • Marcy Leng

My favorite coffee shop in North park. I come here multiple times a week. They have the best seating available with 2 floors to choose from. The barista are super sweet. Try their dirty vanilla chai. Yummy.

Margarita pizza was great and the crust was perfectly thin. However, the chia latte tasted more like water down the coffee. The place was clean and the ambiance was great.

  • Sara Jacobo

The caffe here is delicious and ofcourse the latte art is adorable. The food is also good, the place is a bit small but it's a nice place to go enjoy a nice cup of coffe.
