The location of the municipal building has good, easy and quick access inside the city. It is very close to ctrain. The modern architecture of the municipal building along with the historical elements and monuments in it and the beautiful and eye-catching landscaping and flower arrangement at the entrance of the building inspires a good and positive feeling to the visitors. The use of natural plants in different spaces inside the building, modern and classic paintings and works of art together, the presence of daylight inside the building, modern and suitable carpet flooring, suitable air conditioning system, the presence of escalators and elevators, etc., a very comfortable space. And it is full of positive energy and induces calm to the client, which is very pleasant. Very fast and suitable access to receive fair entry with correct and suitable guide boards, speed of work and good response, excellent and respectful treatment with clients, providing help and complete explanations, record a good experience of attending Calgary City Hall in your mind.

A total of 62 architects entered the competition, following the first stage four finalists were announced, R. L. Wilkin, Eugene N. Dub (who would go on to design Edmonton City Hall), Gerald J. Gongos, and Christopher Ballyn.[9] On December 4, 1981 Christopher Ballyn in partnership with WZMH Architects was chosen as the design winner, and a contract was awarded by Calgary City Council.[10][4] Ballyn's design called for the new Municipal Building to serve as a FOIL to Old City Hall, providing a neutral backdrop while also displaying a fresh and unique civic image. The mirrored facade facing Old City Hall at a 45° angle was chosen to reflect the historic building and the new public plaza, while minimizing the Municipal Building's apparent volume. The lower floors of the Municipal Building feature molded limestone clad walls to reflect the spirit and material of the neighbouring City Hall, while the upper floors provide a sleek, sophisticated and intricate curtain wall in contrast.[9]

They are very organized here; especially with their covid response and trying to get city services. Staff are all very helpful and know exactly what needs to be done. Security as soon as you walk in the front door, doing a good job! I am 95% sure I saw city counsellor Jeromy Farkas (please forgive my misspelling, if I did) and he went out of his regular way with directions to help out some citizens. Nothing overly fancy technically, but I rarely see councillors take time out of their schedules for simple small things to help the people. So that was fantastic. This place has alot of monuments to the city inside and out-- pre covid was a great place to hang out and learn a thing or two new about the city. Many different city services available here to renew or register for. Close to the new library and right beside east/west LRT.

There hasn't been a real police officer in this city since 1984.15 security and police officers to deal with 1 protester. They can only demonstrate compliance and that is why we still don't have REAL police officers in this city. And yes I am the lower percentage of Calgary's population that have no use for them as I have been in this city for 50+ years and have watched the police force in this city collosily fall down. And never mind the city hall staff who discriminate the protester while hiding in the background. Only cowards are afraid of free speech and Calgary City Hall demonstrated this today with flying colors. Demasculinized and compliant staff. And we still have NO REAL police officers. I am expecting repricutions for this post as only Joytis' jigalos can do.

City of Calgary has turned into a terrible city. It's like the entire culture was wiped out by these elected officials over the past 15 years. Incredible how this city sold it's soul for....??? What?? I still don't know. We have lost all the city's heritage, it's atmosphere, it's energy, and it's Industry for......political gain....wow....great job council. What a joke.. RIP Calgary. The officials might as well be foreign assets.....

Most Beautiful Buildings I see from inside out. It gives you a completely different feel due to its unique design. Once you reach in the lobby area design shocks you. Super clean and incredibly designed. Staff is super friendly and they help you in all possible ways. I met Janet for my Devolpment permit for my house. She is very helpful. Parking and going on construction is the only problem I face. Rest all is awesome.

A new display in the Calgary Municipal Building is bringing life to the history and future of Calgary’s C Train system. The display, located on the west side of Council Chambers, showcases historical artifacts, photos, and maps of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) system since its inception in 1981. Stop by for a visit and see how our Light Rail Transit system has grown and will continue to expand in the future.

Not as welcoming of a building as Edmonton City Hall. There was a winter Asian market here and it was dark and draby, definitely not the ideal space for public gatherings. When I was here in the summer, some guy had set the interior on fire the week before, so it was closed to visit. I do like that they kept the Residential Schools makeshift memorial outside.

Went there to buy the transit pass. I have been there a couple of times, their service is great. But today i went to the service counter before they called me( my mistake), the lady helping was rude and reminded me thrice that she didnt call me from the line. So, not so encouraged to go there again. Its nice to be polite to others.

Not a big fan of Calgary City Hall...however, this time they got it right. When in to get a bus pass. Was processed in a timely fashion and it was a change of pace to deal with pleasant people. Covid safety precautions in play at this location. Do expect lineups at times depending on the time of day.

I Honestly thought I'd get missing from the outside seeing how large the building is. To my surprise an information desk just at the entrance . If you don't like talking to people just search where you want to go online . A shout out to the polite and professional staff. …

  • Jamil Khidri

Went to get my RPR (real property report) and didn't have to wait for long before it was my turn. The service was excellent and got what I needed in less than 5 minutes. Employees were friendly and courteous. The building itself is clean and calm. Definitely a welcoming place

Good location - just beside the Ctrain. You can pass through the building during working days - nice installations to see inside. Have a look at the monuments front of the building to understand more from the history and just to have the idea.

I go here to pick up my Fair Entry every month. It's a really stunning building, really sleek looking and attractive. The inside is super clean and polished, and the staff are always there to lend a helping hand, I've had no issues.

  • Teri

I go to city hall monthly to buy my bus pass. The clerks are friendly and efficient. Please be kind to these people. Unfortunately, they get many customers who are rude and abusive. Despite that they are calm and kind.

I'm Aboriginal and going to Bow Valley College. The security here treat me like I live on the streets when I have a car, house and looking to educate myself.

Was applying for a permit, had to wait for about 40 mins but the person helping me out was knowledgable and was a major help.

  • Gordon MacDougall

High taxes, no existent services no method for correcting even minor issues beyond contacting my ward councillor.

  • Chad Chase

Building permit drop off was fast and very friendly. Not looking forward to waiting 3 weeks for permits.

  • Harry Ludwig

Pretentious, waste of money, too many glorified ushers and line up. Should rename it Fair Entry Hall.

  • Darryl Yarrow

Maze of tape on the floor is finally gone. Noce to walk into Coty Hall and feel like I belong again.
