Sadly nursing is now a business. My mother spent 3 weeks here and from day 1 it was a battle to get any information, staff shrug their shoulders and say "I don't know." The Physio and Dr were caring and attentive to her needs. My mother's personal care was below acceptable. No patient should be sitting in urine and many occasions. Not always coherent she was left alone with all her medication on the bed waiting to be packed up. Repeatedly staff and assessment staff were told she could not be left with the responsibility of medication. Sadly this also happened at Calvary North Adelaide previously. This is a complete failure in the hospitals basic duty of care. She came home with only 1 hearing aid. Be prepare the pharmacy is at liberty to dispense medication despite me saying NO MORE, we are well stocked up, yes I even have a No 5 dose Walferon which she doesn't take!!!!! The staff are not at fault, it's the system that is money driven. They do the best they can which falls in the business module.

The staff are very good & friendly & Dr Pandit is great, however, the lack of equipment is poor. Had to wait for a raised toilet seat to be put into my room but every room should have one in my opinion & had to wait for staff to find a walker as well. Should have these things in abundance in a hospital. Also, every meal is either cold or luke warm at best, drinks are warm when they’re supposed to be cold & fresh fruit is far from fresh. I was given bananas that were well past their use-by date. Really, patients can’t get a fresh banana !! I find this very poor for a Private Hospital. I bet the CEO of Calvary is well paid though because as usual in this world today, it’s all about greedy CEO & Management looking after their big fat pockets instead of ensuring that their product or business is running well. Too many Alan Joyce’s in the world today. Not impressed & will be letting BUPA know about my experience too.

Disgusting. Had Knee Replacement. Where to start, no holder for urine bottle so it was placed on table where you eat. Someone came in and removed power cord from knee bending machine so when I needed it they took a power cord from a complete different type of machine (Wrong Cable). Machine stopped working for my treatment 4 times, 1 time I was stuck at 55 degrees for 20 min. Bell pressed no one came, in end I had to use my mobile to call the hospital that i was in so I could be rescued. I kept telling nurses it was wrong cable but no one listened. Spotted a nut on floor under my bed when maintenance fixed it they found another nut missing. It was a bolt for a pivot. I needed to go to rehabilitation but no room so was pressured to go home as my bed was needed. No pain killing medication supplied on discharge also no hard copies of x rays given to me. I had seen them on Saturday.

I came in for surgery and an overnight stay, this has been the best stay that I have ever had in any hospital anywhere, the nurses and the night Doctor Kerry were absolutely fantastic, so caring and brilliant at their work, they know how to have fun, the other staff were great as well, cooks, cleaners etc. I had a great roommate Mal, in Room M1 Our Nurses were, Camilla, Kathy and Vicki, we would personally like thank them, 3 wonderful nurses, we gave them a rating of 11 out 10. On behalf of Mal and myself, we would like to thank everyone involved in making our stay as pleasurable as possible, we both would highly recommend the Calvary Central District Hospital to anyone requiring orthopedic surgery.

Recently had to utilise the services of this hospital. It was great (apart from the fact I had to be in hospital). The staff were so caring and helpful right from the domestic staff through to all the medical staff. I have never had such wonderful care and thoughtfulness as I experienced at the Central District Calvary. Nothing was too much trouble! Loved the Shepherds pie!!! Unfortunately/fortunately? I was unable to test the rest of the menu but it looked terrific! Thank you everyone for giving me such wonderful care! Lyn G.

I have had to goto the hospital for knee replacement surgery in May and then had to go back in sept for another procedure. The drs, nursing staff, the lovely people that deliver your meals and drinks, even the cleaners were all so lovely to me. Always greeting me with a happy voice and a smile and treated me with respect, Something you need after a big surgery. They also greeted my mum and my husband lovely too. So thank you to all the staff

Went to see a gastroenterologist, they kept rescheduling me for “more important people” ended up waiting over 6 months for them to say they can’t help me anyway. Cool cool cool. Don’t go there unless you want to be treated like a public patient and still spend bulk money for zero help or care. Edit** 4 months later, made a complaint- never heard a thing back. ZERO HELP NOR CARE

I was only in for a day surgery procedure but everything was perfect. The staff and nurses were friendly, professional and attentive. They put me at my ease. The whole experience, whilst stressful, was made so much better because of them. I felt very cared for and looked after. The anesthetist and Doctor were exceptional. Thank you all for looking after me.

I would like to say a big thank you to Dr Sam Arena, my anaesthetist Liz, my recovery team Zoe, Julie and there was one other amazing lady but being highly medicated I have forgotten her name. Also Amanda is an amazing nurse, so caring and kind and is a keeper for that job. Thanks again team. Just remembered, other recovery nurses name was Nicole.

The service and nursing staff are so friendly and professional. Made me feel welcome during my recent stay. Modern rooms well appointed and comfortable. The operating room and staff were fantastic. Highly recommended should you need a hospital in the north. Thanks to the Calvary team for my pleasant stay.

My experience here was nothing short of outstanding everyone I encountered was warm friendly and very helpful..unfortunately everyone was overworked due to current conditions..but I was really appreciative of everything everyone did for me during my 4 day stay after surgery thank you …

  • Kirsten Scudds

Beautiful friendly and caring staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Paul Tilly Krista and Glenda especially in palliative care were brilliant. At such a sad time for our family they treated our family member with the greatest respect and for us, nothing was too much trouble.

  • Brenton Birks

My wife went in for day surgery and was very stressed leading up to the procedure. The staff, nurses and doctors were amazing from the moment we walked in the door. My wife has given 5 stars as she could not fault the entire experience. A big thank you to the Calvary

A Hospital BELOW standard and it's a PRIVATE HOSPITAL reminds me of Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre. Can't even find any information on the so called treating Doctor. Going to get my Mum out of there quick smart fast. Dodgy unacceptable old and old ways.

  • Christine Brookman

Would never go back to this hospital, certainly not private hospital standard. Gave a detailed email of my complaints to their feedback section, heard nothing back. Certainly not safe when you shower and water floods toilet area and runs out the door.

  • Kyle Davies

This place deserves more than 5 stars. Everyone is very friendly at this place. They treat you with respect and help you out so much. Today they really went all out and gave me the support i needed as I hate needles. Thankyou very much.

  • K W

Staff were simply outstanding. Nothing was too difficult despite the fact they were obviously extremely busy. From the front office staff, surgeon, theatre staff to after care nurses it was a relief knowing my daughter was cared for.

  • Rob Szymanski

The availability of car parking is shocking. Nothing available in the hospital car park and Nothing available on the street car parking. Either make more car parks available or close parts of the hospital.

  • Giacomina Redpiller

Have had a number of admissions at this hospital both myself and family members. Staff have always been excellent. Very friendly and caring. Day surgery staff brilliant. This is my preferred hospital.

  • Dave Seeley

Specialist suites very professional. Staff excellent. Old mate in a chair, receptionist whipped him up a cuppa and biscuit as he looked like he wasn't travelling to well. I thought that was fantastic.

  • Bert Picton

Visiting friend. Needs a touch up as looking old and a bit rough. Staff very friendly and helpful. Our patient said the hospital is looking worse for wear but she prefers it to the mac

  • CHRIS HUNT

Great nursing staff but spread thinly. Ward's showing signs of age, run down awful outdoor garden area. Desperately needs make over.

  • soneelita

Racist Hospital. If you are not an Australian, they treat you like dirt . Extremely rude and non supportive Nurses .
