We have been hearing about Camp North End so we took the drive last Saturday. This place gives us the Eastern Market (DETROIT) vibes. If you’re from Michigan or have visited you know how beloved that market is to the Detroit people. Camp North End is still under construction. We noticed a few restaurants & we were hoping to see more but no matter- this development is so darn awesome. The art, the repurposed material- all worth a trip to check out. The history alone: was this a Ford plant once? A missile plant? That’s what my husband found in a search. While checking it out. Getting hungry? Grab some lunch from the open establishments. My husband researched and found that Camp North End have a farmer’s market from April to October. That sounds nice. We’ll need to check that out. When we visited on Saturday it was cold & icy so we didn’t get to explore as much as we wanted. We’ll definitely be back & we’ll share with our neighbors in DAVIDSON as we learn more. More! I love when we stop by and see more being added to Camp North End. Bought another fabulous eraser from Good Postage & a treat from Wentworth & Fenn on this last visit. We noticed SKATE is new. Always something to do or see at Camp North End ❤️
Visited the Crayola event today and man was that neat for the girls. 3 and 5 and they both were soaked up in all the activities that inspired creative thinking. So many stations. Colors. Sounds. And just overall a whole lot of fun for all of us. There was a ton of open space. Deffinantly recommend going to the bathroom (even if you just went before you left the house) when you see the first bathrooms at the beginning of the enterence. (Im talking about your kids of course) There is only that 1 bathroom through the entire exhibit and we were there for about 2 hours going through the rooms. Let me tell you. Navigating running a 3 year old through the entire exhibit to get back to the bathrooms is 0/10 don't recomend. Overall it was a great experience. I love being at camp north end. I mean the food. Hello. How could you not. It was a quick walk back to the car after we stopped and ate a Lil snack. Deff worth the schmoney that was paid to get in.
We searched Google for things to do and places to visit in Charlotte, and Camp North End was one of the first recommendations. Upon arriving, we could see that it was being repurposed and had some historical significance. Learning more about it, was surprised to know that it was originally a Ford Motor plant, then the government took it over for the war effort, even utilizing it to build nuclear missiles (just the missiles, no nuclear materials were brought to the plant,) then big pharma bought it. Now it's a commercial complex with cool shops and restaurants. We hung out for part of the day and really enjoyed the decor, tje food, and the people running the various businesses. A must see for locals and tourists.
I absolutely loved this place.!!!! They are still building it out so you know that a lot more goodies are going to be coming in the future!! Lots of unique outdoor seating areas as well as local artwork painted up on miscellaneous walls. Great shopping options that all feel so unique and local. More and more dining options are popping up there as well! You got southern food, beer, coffee, burgers, ramen, and tacos! You can come here on a week day or week night and always have something to do. They have bands playing or pop up shops are different vendors that set up every once in a while to add a little flavor. Love the concept and cannot wait to see it grow!
A cool industrial area that's been revitalized into an area with shops and restaurants. They have a brewery which allows customers to take their beer anywhere within Camp North End. I deducted a star overall because even though they have multiple parking lots it took us a while to find a spot because they were all taken. It was a Saturday and I'm sure that had a lot to do with it but it's always a little annoying to get somewhere and have to drive around waiting for someone to leave to take their parking spot. Overall such a cool place! Next time I'm in Charlotte I would definitely go back when I have more time and check out the rest of the shops.
Charlotte is growing and I’m glad they are adding g places like these! Is literally 7 acres of potential! They have colorful walls, plenty of space to sit. We went on a rainy day on a Friday and although not many people were out there, we enjoyed seeing the place in its entirety. I can’t wait to come back when everything else is open. We visited the canteen and the hex coffee. Both places had friendly staff. Hex coffee Roast their own coffee and plan to move to a bigger place within the camp. The canteen is one of the two in Clt. The other one is in downtown. I highly recommend visiting this place, I see spaces for future offices.
Camp North Pole is open for ice skating. It's a lovely, small rink. $15 covers skates and unlimited rink time. There are plastic training frames available for new skaters, and it's a pretty family-friendly environment, with pop music piped in. At about 5:30 on a Friday, we were able to get right in, but a few hours later there was a long line to get in. We would love to see a restaurant with indoor seating (and reasonable pricing) at Camp North End. But we really enjoyed our time on the ice! (They take good care of the ice, and after a couple of hours, we got to watch the Zamboni smooth it for our next round.)
Went on a Sunday afternoon. I remember when it was just an industrial dump and was there for an antic event with my wife. Then about a week later I remember seeing how they wanna build it up. 3 years later been seeing articles about it being built up and seeing Tennant's getting added.. I must say the developers have done an fantastic job. From the murals to how it's laid out! Nice cool vibrant area with a piece of nostalgic history that kept it's identity.. it also has nice view of downtown.. it is an very family friendly environment I can't wait to see how it is on a Friday night. Well done
We had an awesome evening here at Camp North End. We arrived at 5pm and took the tour around all the place. Very interesting tour with a very nice and friendly tour guide. Later we watched the performance of XOXOK and CYAN, two bands that made original songs and also some cover songs. Very nice too. The best for me was the Salsa Lessons at 8pm. The two teachers were excellent dancers, but also very friendly and patient teachers. We had a very funny experience and we can't wait to learn more. We also had food and beer from the food trucks. Very nice place. I highly recommend this for the whole family.
Really wanted to like this place but…just looks like every other “community/mixed use” excuse for gentrification that are popping up in every city across the USA. Plenty of space here but when I inquired about leasing, the agent said they were “full”?! Pretty sure this is yet another tax write off for a “parent organization” (NYC funded not local at all) It has so much potential but looks like there driving off a cliff with management. It is a nice area to chill and maybe try out some new gear which is why I gave them 3 stars. It was a ghost town when I was there…
We went to the crayola ideawork. It was a great experience. It put my children and I in a creative mindset. I enjoyed discovering my creative style. My children are 4 and 6yoa. The questionnaire was a little advanced for my 4 yo, but I think that's why 5 and under get in free. He still enjoyed being creative and the activities. Great experience. When we were done at crayola ideaworks we spent some time at Camp North End. It took me back to my childrenhood with the retro furniture and decor. I loved the setup, all the different swing, games, art, etc.
Love this renovated mix use development in Charlotte. We went to this location for the Wednesday night farmers market and loved the murals, repurposed manufacturing equipment, and outdoor areas. There were work areas, retail spaces, eateries and a brewery, event space and they were still working on much of it. A perfect combo of old and new that felt fresh and fun. I highly recommend a visit and a long walk around the campus. I loved this space so much I created a whole post about it. Can't wait to see how it continues to evolve.
Please be aware that during this holiday season there is minimal handicap parking & little accessibly. The employees (may be a third party but still provided by camp north end) directing parking are EXTREMELY rude & will not allow closer drop off or direct you to the closest handicap parking location. Some of the handicap spots are also blocked off. The vendors & shops at this location are great & this review does not reflect this. It is unfortunate that the facility is hindering their sells & activities to only “able” people.
Where do I even start? As an architect and urban designer I might be biased about this place but I promise no matter your background there’s something you will love and enjoy here. This former manufacturing site is slowly adapting its buildings to accommodate for restaurants and retail. I went on a Tuesday afternoon so it wasn’t very lively but I can’t wait to return on a Friday evening. My favorite things were the abundance of art and the landscape design, beautiful harmless bees everywhere
We attended a vintage pop-up shop. It was a beautiful day and we sat at the available tables on the lovely faux lawn. Everyone seemed respectful of one another's time and space. Some enjoyed the hammocks. Others enjoyed the huge lego-kije building blocks. There are a few random food choices. It would be nice if there were more food truck options. The bathrooms were in a trailer; an upgraded port-a-potty. Overall, a nice outing for an individual, couple or family. And parking was free!
Camp North End is absolutely an amazing attraction all year.. This holiday season is definitely a must do. They have ice skating, great food and shops you'll love. I took the grandbabies there yesterday, 12/3, for a photoshoot. They had so much fun playing on swings and free games throughout Camp North End that they forgot it was a photo shoot, and the pics were great. Great for date night, kids' night or a sole visit; you won't be disappointed.. Check it out!!
This was a great facility in which to host the Van Gogh Immersion Experience. Very spacious. View of the Immersion was clear and breath- taking. I highly recommend the 'inner seating' so you get the full view. The facility is an old mill with original wooden brick and cement flooring. Take a pillow to sit on. The metal benches are just that: hard metal! BE AWARE: Uneven floor surface in some areas (possible trip hazard for mobility impaired folks).
This location offers a pleasant environment for strolling and appreciating the decor and design contributions of local artists. At the time of our visit, not all businesses were open. The summer heat can be somewhat intense, as the majority of the venue is outdoors. However, we remain optimistic that given time, this will become a popular destination for dining and relaxation. The space appears to host events periodically, adding to its appeal.”
This is a great place to go to events an hang out for the day. We went for Vintage Market Day It was my first time here. As they get more Resturaunts and Retail set up I think this spot will just keep getting better ad time goes by. I just hope they don't follow the Charlotte trend of allowing developers to destroy its historic character for apartments. All it needs is a little polishing and this could be the best entertainment area in the city.
We were at the October 2023 Veg Fest. It was amazing! There were lots of vendors, including a young author! My daughter even spotted Harold Leffall, a YouTuber who shares low-cost ways to make your own juice and stay healthy. He took a pic with us on his phone, so I can't post it here. If you're in Charlotte, definitely keep your eyes and ears open for events that are at this venue! There's so much to see and experience, including food!
An old factory complex repurposed as a beautiful public space with lots of art, music, classes, and events. There's stuff to do and nice places to chill out with no pressure to spend money. The landscaping is kept a little wild in places, attracting birds and butterflies. If you feel like spending money, there's an assortment of shops and food trucks. This is by far my favorite place in the city. Great vibes all around!
This place is amazing! There are a ton of food vendors, small businesses, art murals, and even a farmers market. A friend and I met up here while I was visiting for work. It’s perfect for a quick bite and something to do. All of the food was great. There were a lot of black owned businesses to support. There were a ton of unique products to buy and a lot of art to look at at absolutely no cost. Very cool experience.
I worked here at the Rite Aid Regional office for 29 years and shut this facility down before we sold it. I recently visited to see what the developer had done and all I can say is impressive! I’m so happy the facility was repurposed as it carries so much history. We walked the entire place and ate at La Caseta , it was very authentic and full of flavor. We enjoyed the ambiance and just walking around. A++
Very beautiful place to spend an evening. Also, learn little bit of history! Mostly eateries but nicely laid out ! Though some regular food outlets, restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream shops available, the most attraction is at the individual campers - many with various motives. Don't miss out evening time when lighting. Enough car parking, dining tables, relaxing benches available to spend the evening!
The immersive Van Gogh experience was very relaxing and beautiful. We really enjoyed it. The only thing that could have made it better, would be if they had one wall that just showed all his work one at a time for a few minutes. The gift shop was very pricey. I did buy a starry night mouse pad for 14.99 and they had a couple different backpacks that were cool and not too terribly expensive.
This place is amazing! I really feel like it is for everyone, kids, families, 1st date, night out, dancing...etc. just went here for Latin Night and it was everything!! They had local vendors with food and drink, there are restaurants, bakeries, local vendors, live music, Lego's, art,...etc. just a very fun environment! So much to do and see! They also have bathrooms and trailer potty..lol
Needs more handicapped access. The Empanada Fest event was spread over two different levels with no direct access for those with mobility problems. There was minimal signage to direct people where to go, asked 3 different shop personnel where to find the festival's location - no one knew! However, I definitely see a big future for this enormous site once they workout the kinks.
Camp North is a cool communal place to hang out. The vibe is industrial, rustic, chill, and upbeat—exciting street art, murals, and rustic objects all around. Family-friendly space with a lot of outdoor areas to lounge, hang out, grab food and drinks. Highly recommend for an evening getaway with friends or family. The restaurants are chic and serve fine food.
LOVE IT heree!! This was my first time and the views are gorgeous. The artistic work that completely represents this entire complex is just brilliant. The preservation of the buildings, train tracks and authentic vibe is so well composed and a true vision. The shops and food options are excellent. Perfect place for photographers, tons of murals to capture!
Very cool place in Charlotte ! Definitely an upcoming development that is set to put This area on the map. This campus is so large and has a lot of fun activities to do that are open to the public. There’s plenty of sitting areas and a lot of shops with more to come. I just loved the vibe here and will definitely come back during my next trip to Charlotte.
This was an amazing idea executed to near perfection! Great food, beer, live music. They have breweries, individual restaurants, shops. Everything is updated with recycled or repurposed materials, giving it an industrial look. Murals were great. Giant Lego city was so cool. You just have to visit to see what I mean. Don't pass this one up!
Brilliant use of space to bring business and community together! The outdoor gathering spots are gorgeous! All the plants and foliage compliment the metal contrast. Fun seating, games, and visually stimulating murals & colors are so inviting. Can't wait to see this place in five years... Congrats to the vision holders & community!
Unclear directions make it both a bit obscure & hard to find. This is not clearly a shopping destination & almost makes you feel like you’re not only lost, but maybe intruding in people’s private spaces. Feels extremely disjointed. The developers could do a much better job at integrating the different spaces. Needs improvement.
We went on a Friday evening to enjoy the live music which was great. Enjoyed the food choices and the fun, eclectic atmosphere -all the swings, Lego play area, art, and native gardens. In December, the Mistletoe Market is festive, and an ice-skating rink with a lodge and snow globes replaces the Lego play area.
Interesting place at 8pm on a Saturday. It has the vibe of somewhere that should be bursting with folks hanging out. I imagine it will someday, just not on 10/28/23. (But if anyone knows the YouTube channel for the plant prankster, please let me know - he got us good and I'd love to see the footage! LOL)
What a wonderful vibe. Chill live band, flavorful food trucks, and local artisans all along a large reimagined outdoor space. I had a delicious Free Range Brewery pale ale and picked up Pakistani mango chutney from an awesome vendor. They're open for Christmas markets in December. Can't wait to go back!
A neat refurbished of an old Ford plant eclectic lots more to due on weekends but will be real cool once it gets all the space rented minutes.away from downtown Charlotte. If you have restaurant or bar space or even want your office here would be good choice alternatives then in the downtown district.
Movie night @ #CampNorthEnd and the Wednesday Night #FarmersMarket is lovely and #GROW is always a pleasure to go in see all the beautiful plants and speciality items for the home, garden &/or to take with you on vacation. Love all the colorful art, sustainable plants and industrial installations.
Great place to be the atmosphere is just amazing the movie thursdays are definitely pretty good but the food is not worth 5$hot dogs and 5 dollar small bucket of popcorn also the advertisement said arcade games when there was just one machine but other than that the experience was pretty okay
It's a Great start to something that will become, we believe, magnificent in time. We commend the developers and city if Charlotte, North Carolina for taking something that was deteriorated and developing it into shops and an economic neighborhood enhancing area. But it's just starting
Camp was super fun, but it’s definitely still an area that’s up and coming. It’s cool now, but six months or a year from now, it’s going to be ready for prime time. We especially loved the diversity of businesses and art in the area and can’t wait to come back and see what it becomes.
We love visiting Camp North End. They have a growing list of diverse small businesses from bars, restaurants, breweries, plant shops, clothing stores, coffee shops, and more. Our favorite part of CNE is the variety of events they host such as outdoor movies, live music, and festivals.
Went for the Mistletoe Market. Definitely great day/night out. While I didn’t ice skate, the scenery was very Hallmark-like. Loved all the local artisans and makers selling their goods. The vibe was good for families, date night, girls night, or a friend field trip.
This is such an eclectic urban oasis. The farmer’s market on Wednesdays is lovely and the shops and small businesses are unique and diverse. It’s a great place to swing with someone special while having ice cream and the aesthetics are well designed. Love it here!!
A hidden gem in Charlotte. Try visiting on a Friday or Saturday evening, when there is some art exhibit in good year arts. This place has a different vibe all together which can only be experienced. Has a big parking lot, small brewery and food stalls…
This is an amazing, walkable area full of art, shops, delicious food and outdoor "visiting spaces" such as swings, tables/chairs, ping-pong table and children's play area. It was reclaimed and has an industrial feel. A great Charlotte initiative!
This old industrial park, close to downtown, is slowly being converted to a Social gathering site for cuisine and beverage. A few locations are open now with expectations of expanding. It's worth a visit and play close attention to new openings.
We went for the Van Gogh exhibit--which was incredible! I had been to all of Blumenthal's locations except this one, and I'm going to have to go back. It's a really cool place. There's art everywhere and several restaurants on the grounds.
Mad Run was awesome glad to U can Mad Walk as well.. BIG UP'S TO THE ORGANIZERS TIME TO BUY NEW WORKOUT GEAR !!! They play music so U can dance at the end WHAT A PERFECT WAY TO END THE DAY
Went to Vintage Charlotte pop-up market at Camp North End, next to Hex coffee. Hrs are Nov 17-Dec 7 Fri-Sun 10a-7p and Dec 8-23 daily 10a-7p. Had vintage clothing, toys, decorations, etc. Had fun looking around. Recommend.
The idea behind this spot is good. At this time, there is a lot of construction still in progress. The food selection was not that great. It's nice if you want to sit outside and talk maybe have a drink but not much else.
This place is amazing in so many ways. It's a fun place to bring the kids and let them run around. They have an outdoor movie night every week & lots of restaurants to choose from. We love to come here just to hang out
Very cool spot in Charlotte. Go to Free Range to get a drink, Hex for a coffee, and Hardy Boys Records to shop for vinyl. Lots of cool things happen out here. Around the holidays there is a small ice skating rink .
The architecture is beautiful, and the artwork is just lovely. Looks like they are still adding more things but even now, there is enough to do to burn a couple of hours looking at and enjoying what they have now.
Very neat place to stop on my road trip, the vibes were great and the outside seating had power outlets that were perfect for charging up all our devices before we got back to traveling. Would highly recommend!
Such a dope spot filled with amazing places to check out... I still haven't explored the entire space! Enjoyed Of Earth And Sky Poetry Anthology Book Release... check out my poem and that of so many others!
Amazing outdoor space! Always a good vibe with lots of different things to do and multiple entertainment outlets. No matter what day you come you're sure to find something unique and exciting happening!
Great place to walk around, eat, play games and see beautiful art and people, plus get to know some of the local shop owners (they are LOVELY) and support them!! Lokal has cute apparel and gifts too :)
This type of urban renewal is so wonderful! What a great way to re-purpose real estate rather than allowing it to become a drain on the neighborhood. Now it’s a destination! We can’t wait to return!
The graffiti art work is well worth the visit. If you have kids there is a playground with extra large foam Lego pieces. There are unique shops to visit and over all a great place to spend some time
A creative’s dream. Could be movie set or background for pictures, or concert space, or work space or fun arena or whatever you want it to be. Can’t come to Charlotte and not visit Camp North End.
Really nice place. Stopped by to get our ATC race packets. Lots of food vendors. Live music. Lots of stuff for the kiddos. Great atmosphere. Will definitely come back. Parking can be tricky.
This place has great potential and it’s starting to take off. Still lots of empty space, but I’m sure it will improve. Very few restaurants/food stands and a couple artsy shops right now.
It’s off to a good start! Still many empty spaces. But I really like all the different activités they offer for both adults and children here. I would suggest to get more security though.
This place has potential! Would like to see more shops and food move into here. The bakery and coffee shop is great! And the kids love the giant legos. Turf get HOT in the summer though.
Love the atmosphere plenty of things to do you can just chill and hang out on the hammock. Or walk around different jobs eat drink. Lots of art to look at and the architectures awesome.
Really cool spot. I’ve been here twice. Today and one year ago. I’m eager to explore more of what it has to offer now that it looks like the construction is done and more has reopened.
I love coming here every year to see what’s new. We happened upon a Canstruction event, a zine festival, and a Latin festival the last two times we were here. Love this place so much!
Great re-use of industrial space. Art exhibit halls. Eateries. Free live music under the water tower on Fridays. Shared workspaces. It's growing and improving each year.
Pretty awesome place to visit to relax and enjoy. Open and friendly environment for Children, families, and individuals Pictures of different spaces of the environment.
Very beautiful! I love how it is pets friendly, many of the business are eco friendly. I will definitely come back. It’s a beautiful, happy and family friendly place.
A nice area to hang out, be around friends and family. Some places to eat have vegan options and there are always events happening here! Parking is available
Definitely a must do if you’re in Charlotte!! Lots of great shops, food spots & awesome artwork to see. Pro tip: go during the weekday, it’s less crowded.
One of my favorite places to visit when I'm in town. I've seen it go from one open retail space to a whole city of art, fashion and food. I love it here❤️
Great place to do a photoshoot, get something to eat, hold a party at one of the venues or just walk around for exercise and look at the great art work.
We visited the place on a rainy weekend. The ambience of the place was pensive. Not much of a crowd. The bakery and the coffee place were very good.
Outdoor movie night was great, try to get there ahead so you could find better spot to see the movie. Crowded and everything seemed closed early.
This is happening place in Charlotte. Free outdoor movie was fun. I would definitely go again to try many other restaurants.
Great place to relax, eat, walk around, read, play, go with friends, family, kids. Is pretty versatile and good environment!
Great place to chill, eat or just walk around. Also a great e-bike shop to rent or to get your bike fixed. Nice owners!
A fantastic place to spend a day exploring, tasting, browsing and buying. Many unique gifts ideas, food and drinks
This is a very well done setup. They have created a great atmosphere and I will be returning many times.
Place is huge, lots of potential, more places to be than open, but a few spots for food and fun
Great location five min from downtown Charlotte. Multiple food, drink, and shopping venues.
