"Hostile and scary experience with airport employee!! Upon my arrival at the Cape Town after a 13hr plus flight from the US on Saturday 12/01/2023 between 6:15pm and 6:45pm as I approached the immigration line, I asked this black woman with very short hair blonde if the line I was queued on was also for travelers with foreign passports because the sign above stated that only South African passport holders and permanent residents could be there"

They say the airport is the first impression of a city. If that is true, the this airport is the perfect first impression of what to expect in Cape Town. They’ve executed the art of satisfaction to the latter. First I knew because it’s a busy airport it would take us a lot of time to exit because we had luggage. Long story short, the distance from the gate to the conveyor belt is long and there are so many beautiful distractions along the way so by the time you exit immigration and get your SIM card, your luggage will be already there waiting for you to exit. As a traveling African, I’ve occasionally experienced and had to endure stressful and hellish immigration processes. Cape Town was a breeze. The immigration personnel were very friendly, polite and welcoming. He even recommended some places to visit. It really is nice being African traveling in Africa. The airport is a shopper’s paradise. So many duty free shops to chose from. And restaurants as well. You can get amazing South African wine and other alcoholic beverages at a very pocket friendly price. There’s free WiFi and the seats at the gates are cozy. The views are to die for, beautiful Cape Ranges can be seen from a distance as you watch a Timelapse of several airlines landing and taking off. My flight was delayed and for once I wasn’t mad because my host, the airport, was amazing I didn’t mind staying a bit longer. I know airports can sometimes be nightmares, but my experience here both during arrival and departure was amazing. The check-in process was a breeze. The luggage handling was great and the staff were very friendly. Mother city just knows how to take care of her guests. “Nkosi sikielel”
Cape Town International Airport is a remarkable gateway to South Africa, and it exemplifies the country's beauty and hospitality. The airport, nestled at the foot of Table Mountain, is a testament to modern infrastructure, seamlessly blending functionality with aesthetic appeal. I recently had the pleasure of traveling through this hub, and it left a lasting impression. One of the standout features is its stunning design, which combines contemporary architecture with elements inspired by South African culture. The airy terminal is adorned with artworks and sculptures, creating an atmosphere that feels uniquely African. It's not just visually pleasing; it's also highly functional, with efficient check-in and security processes. The airport boasts a diverse array of dining options, catering to all tastes. Whether you're in the mood for a quick snack or a gourmet meal, you'll find it here. The duty-free shops offer a wide selection of local crafts, wines, and souvenirs, making it a fantastic place to grab some last-minute gifts. Transport to and from the airport is well-organized, and the airport's location provides travelers with breathtaking views as they land or take off. It serves as an ideal entry point for exploring the wonders of Cape Town and the surrounding region. Cape Town International Airport is a shining example of how an airport can be much more than just a transit point; it can be an integral part of the travel experience, leaving visitors with fond memories of their journey from the moment they arrive.
One of the easiest and most convenient ways to get from the Cape Town airport to the city centre or any other suburb is using either Uber, Bolt or Didi. After hailing your car, head to Parkade 2 in Cape Town’s airport, where there is a dedicated e-hailing pick-up area. The Cape Town International Airport bus is the cheapest transport option to the city centre. This means taking Cape Town’s MyCiti Bus service, which also offers public transport in Cape Town. You can buy a MyCity travel card from the kiosk outside the airport. Buying a card costs R35, and you can add funds during your stay. We bought a 7-day pass, which provides unlimited bus travel for 7 days for R230 ($15). The journey takes about 25 minutes, and you are dropped off at the Cape Town Civic Centre, from where you can easily take busses to other parts of Cape Town or even get an Uber, Bold or Didi driver to drive you to your hotel. A popular transport option from Cape Town International Airport is hiring a rental car. A car gives you incredible flexibility in sightseeing and day trips around Cape Town. You can also arrange a private transfer from the airport to your hotel. The fares range from $9 – $15 per person, but also depends on the type of vehicle you prefer. Another easy option for getting from the Cape Town International Airport to your hotel is to choose a hotel that offers airport transfers.
Hostile and scary experience with airport employee!! Upon my arrival at the Cape Town after a 13hr plus flight from the US on Saturday 12/01/2023 between 6:15pm and 6:45pm as I approached the immigration line, I asked this black woman with very short hair blonde if the line I was queued on was also for travelers with foreign passports because the sign above stated that only South African passport holders and permanent residents could be there. This deranged woman went on a tirade saying how she had already informed all travelers to stand on one line (first of all I was not present when this information was communicated) and she also mentioned that she spoke in English and was questioning my comprehension skills. I literally saw the shock on all the passengers faces and I was quite surprised at the aggression in her tone and hostile attitude towards me. She had only one job to do that was to direct and provide accurate information to travelers and she failed to do just that. It was such a rude way to talk to tourist visiting her country. Honestly I will be wary to visit this country if you look like a person from another African country. Because the way that woman reacted to a simple question was scary and definitely gave xenophobic vibes. I also noticed she did not talk with the same attitude to other passengers. Sometimes stereotypes about countries are true.
1. I got trolleys with bad wheels twice in a row. For pity's sake get one smart intern to test them properly and contract a workshop to fix or scrap those that fail. Current quality control is poor. 2. Near-total system collapse on Sat 2023-10-07. Don't issue a half-hearted apology blaming Eskom. Own it, explain it, make a plan to prevent a recurrence, publicise the plan. 3. We all queued for hours for nothing on this day, many of us in the wrong queues because they were so long it was impossible to figure out. You could have spared everyone a lot of stress by telling us not to bother, that all flights would be called to the right counters when ready. BTW our luggage is still lost somewhere out there. 4. The acoustics are so bad that the announcements are completely unintelligible. For heaven's sake display the announcements on electronic boards where we can see them. Play a little jingle or beep each time there's an update. 5. There are no electronic boards where we can see them once we're stuck in a queue. We need regular updates where we can see them without losing our place in the queue. In short, please put yourselves in your customers' shoes and think things through. It just requires a little imagination, consideration and common sense. Thanks.
As things go at the main busiest international destinations, Cape Town International Airport has but 1 problem that most can relate to... the challenge of language barriers. Having traveled lots, I spend a lot of time there, now mostly picking up and dropping my family and mates, so this is a legitimate review. Other than the hit or miss, good or bad luck on your side situation or issue which is synonymous at any airport, our airport surrounded mostly by the notorious Cape Flats and its shanty town locations and shacks housing our millions of underprivileged poorer people and some industrial business area's, is brilliant. Staff are helpful, friendly, and aim to please as much as possible. It's safe, neat, and tidy, and any maintenance seems to be dealt with rather quickly. The stores are well priced and stocked. The restaurants are restaurants, and as we all know, except for our great priced South African food, anything can go a little off the beaten track sometimes at any restaurant anywhere in the world at any given time, not forgetting our 1st prize problem, that language barrier. Cape Town International Airport is GREAT. I love going there.
I recently flew via both the domestic and international terminals of the Cape Town International Airport, and I must say that both times I had a very good experience. Both terminals have very comfortable seating options, clear signage indicating boarding gates and other amenities as well as notification boards regarding flight schedules adequately spread throughout the terminals. You also have great views of the runway. On the domestic side my wife and I had lunch at the Mugg & Bean (reviewed separately) and on the international side I grabbed lunch and some drinks from one of the restaurants. What I really liked about the international terminal was that you could grab something to eat and drink while having a clear view of the runway, which unfortunately is not currently possible for the restaurants on the domestic side. Both terminals also have numerous shops ranging from curios and snacks to book shops. The cherry on top for me was how friendly and helpful the staff were.
A very disorganized airport. No order at all. We arrived 2hrs before time but queued like sardines. It was horrible indeed. My watch was even taken, not stolen. Taken at the point where small bags/belongings are put for a machine to scan. Innocently I took it off and put it on the machine to be scanned and passed, per directive. It did not come out with the coat I put it together with. The person who took it was aware that it would not be easy for me to recognize it immediately because we were running for an aeroplane. I only realized it when I was in the plane seated. Asked the waitress to assist but in vain. They took my cellphone to contact me if found but I knew it was an act of consoling me. The problem is that I never thought that a person on duty is capable of the act of illegally taking what does not belong to him. I think it was also my ignorance and he took advantage of it. I wish the airport management can come to Johannesburg to copy the good practice.
It was "ok" but fustrated & disappointed in ACSA who provide security and basic airport service. When I departed Jhb Intl to Cape Town, I had 2 solar light systems in my luggage for use in my caravan in Velddrif. My return trip I was told to remove these and carry in my personal luggage 25min before the flight. The items are not on the "prohibited items" list, I was not informed at the check- in counter concerning these items! How does the "rule" not apply at the biggest international airport but is enforced at a smaller one (no such rule)? Our flight on SAA was delayed by almost an hour, no annoucement, no apologies, no explanation and it was late evening already, passengers were tired and restless, many wanting to get home, I find this unacceptable & poor customer service!
Everything was so slow at this airport. The VAT refund took ages, slow personnel and slow system, such that to process a refund they took 30 minutes for one customer. And there’s a long line of people but they only have one personnel attending to all. You can forget about claiming the tax refund if it’s a small amount, not worth your time. Checkin with Emirates was alright, quite fast. However the horror starts when you reach border control, again we stood in line for about 45 minutes. Only two counters were open, when many flights departing around the same time (EK, QR, ET, BA). The city was fantastic but not the airport.
Very stunning airport! Well administered and professionally maintained. It has all the essentials required by frequent travelers I.e easy pick up points, shuttle services, car rentals etc. Positioning of the car rental facility is poorly positioned, you have to go through a tunnel which sometimes gets slippery when it rains. If it rains you might get rained on making your way to the preferred rental company. The slope and hill of the tunnel might be difficult for someone with a disability, injury and would suggest you book a cart to move you from the rental part of the airport to the boarding side or vice versa.
Worst airport I have been at. We asked to get our stroller delivered to the plane as soon as we get off and they told us the stroller will be at baggage claim, so we had to carry our child from the plane, with our carry on bags, through customs line ups and only got it after that. Also got delayed for over an hour and sitting on the plane because the airport did not have enough carts available to deliver the bags onto the plane in time. Very frustrating to deal with any staff and when you ask them a question they just throw their hands up and say they don’t know. They won’t even get someone to help us.
Not a bad airport a little backwards how they do things, for example security check is quick and great…. Then you get to hit a line for passport control with only 2 windows open and then you get to do another security check again before you can go to your gate, what was the use of the first one? But must say the staff was very friendly from the porters to the desk staff even the cleaning staff for the restrooms were great and very friendly. That goes along way in making the travelling experience better and the country more inviting. A airport should be a reflection of its people and country.
Clean, modern, convenient parking, extremely clean bathrooms. I don’t particularly like using public restrooms but after a fifteen hour flight I couldn’t wait. The bathroom on arrival is the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen. There was an attendant who was cleaning counters and he mentioned he cleaned there all day after every person using the facilities. I tipped him five dollars for his outstanding work. Car rental companies right next door. Easy drive into Cape Town about 20 minutes. Good food and snack options while waiting to depart and good last minute souvenir shopping.
I am ashamed that the Airport is the gateway and, more importantly, the departure experience for Cape Town. Cape Town offers a world-class tourism experience but the airport is abysmal. Passport control is unattended and inefficient, lounges are rudimentary, the shopping is a joke, ......the list goes on - the International departures experience is just not up to scratch. All that still works in SA is the rugby team, the wine industry and tourism - 2 of which are concentrated in the Cape. We can't afford, as a country, to let our Cape Town airport let these industries down.
Very nice airport with all primary needs for any traveler. Car rental facility is close or in front from the main terminal across freeway. However, there is not a designed walkway for passengers going there, they need to walk to the car rental underneath area like a tunel with active moving vehicles; making more dangerous for those ones who are nor familiar with the "left driving protocols". In general, all facilities. Good food Court in the 3rd level. Plenty of shopping stores once you pass security. Flights to USA are located in a designated area.
To anyone travelling from this airport or to it, please make sure you LOCK your bags! I made the mistake of not putting a lock on my bag and I could instantly tell that it had been searched. South African airports are known for employees going through bags. If you have forgotten to get a lock, ask the information desks for cable ties. They should be able to provide you with some. They have a very limited amount of time to search your entire bag so make it as difficult as possible to do so. Don't get those cheap combination locks that bend easily either.
A clean and efficient Airport, worthy of this great city. The amenities you expect are all there: restaurants, clean bathrooms, shopping, fast loading and unloading of luggage etc. The entrance gall is large and airy. Security and customs was not too much hassle, the staff did their best to help. It is pretty easy to get to the Uber pickup - we recommend taking uber everywhere in Cape Town as the taxi drivers will invariably try to scam tourists (one tried to charge us 462 for a eight minute ride!!).
Love it since the revamp and rebuild it got better. Love the shops the restaurants and just the overall way it has changed and gotten better. You can now buy your tickets, check in and so much more. Its way bigger also with better parking. The only thing is parking could be better priced seeing as you just dropping or picking someone up. Drop and go just as good and bigger and more space as well. They really made it nice and beautiful. Tourist love it as well. You buy last minute gifts as well.
International Departure and the loo has no toilet paper. After approaching a lady working at the airport (private company), I was told to chase after a cleaner to report it. Asked her if she could report it because the cleaner 2 gates down from where I was to sit and still walking further away, she said, no, I don't work in the toilets. Told her that I'm aware of it, but wondered if she had a way to call it in. Nope. I had to chase. So I ran... Good impression
Great Porter (Number 61 is a credit to the airport), helped get us from car hire to terminal safely, straight to the correct desk, fast check in with BA, quick security, descent food and duty free outlets. The staff are excellent across all areas we visited. But Gates are small for 747 passenger numbers, just corridors really, chaos seems to repeat in our experience. Gate announcements are awful, acoustic quality pitiful for a modern airport.
A world class airport with super friendly and helpful staff! With latest high-tech stuff and a vibrant atmosphere, this is an airport to certainly land at. The airport is equipped with e-gates for e-passport holders! Security is super tight to ensure safety of travelers. The restaurants and eateries in the airport are quite amazing! There are airport taxis around but l personally prefer using Uber/Bolt since they are relatively affordable.
I was practically born here, because my mom flew while she was pregnant with me. Love the colourful Bo Kaap installation So many beautiful memories of trips begun or ended at CT international airport! Love the happy energy of the staff! I usually pop into the Flybary to pick up a book and to let go of books that I want to donate. It’s a Cosy space where you can kick up your feet after dropping off your luggage at international check-in ✈️
It's more than a home, more like a holiday destination on its on, everyone is just friendly, from the car rentals department to when you check it, the hospitality is just on another level, everyone offering help with just anything. Very safe and let's one relax and dine with a peace of mind before boarding, wouldn't mind arriving 2 hours before boarding time just to spend some time there to ease the mind prior to a long flight....
I've been assisted today by a SAPS officer today for just helping me getting to the correct parking lot for a pick up. I've asked for directions and he was more than willing to assist me. I've realized: It's not how great a place may be that makes your day or that gives that certain place a 5 star rating but the willingness, kindness, worth and love you receive from the people at the place you visit. Well done sir appreciate you.
Watch Out for "Taxi" signs who are holding inside of the airport. You make sure ask how much it is first prior to walking to his/her car... Be aware of this. There are "Metered Taxis" outside of the terminal. If possible, you may want to get an Uber. I found out that it is pretty flexible and economical to get a ride with Uber. Hope this info helps for people who is concerned for his/her transportation to/from the airport.
Sizeable airport, easy to control. The landing and the take off have lovely views. The worst part are the parking and the rental cars, which are quite far and not very comfortable to reach, especially with big luggages. Big variety of restaurants before passing the controls and not so in the domestic terminal, yet good enough. The waiting sofas are really comfortable and the charging ports sometimes even work!
Friendly and helpful staff. Cleaning staff are everywhere to be seen and do a great job. Easy to find your around the airport. Lovely verity of shops and places to eat. Christmas decorations were beautifully done. Only disappointment I had was to discover that the My City busses no longer opperate to and from the Airport. Other than that it was an absolute pleasure being at the airport once again.
Arrived overnight from the UK. Passport control a breeze. Luggage was on the carousel waiting for us. Used the Authorised Taxis desk in arrivals hall. First class service. Yongama our driver took us all the way to Franschhoek. Uber looked chaotic. In fact the things that didn’t work were European / US services like our eSim (ended up using MTN) and Uber. Go to Africa and do African and enjoy.
Always fun to meet people arriving at the airport. The airport restaurants selection could be better, but the food vendors available have great fast food selection, and generally fast, efficient & friendly service :) Very efficient & friendly assistance from ground crew when checking-in The international arrivals was very efficient, and the luggage arrived after a 15 minute wait.
Had an extremely great experience at the airport. Immigration personnel were extremely polite, friendly and super fast. Loved that the airport has so many stores in it that I could browse through as I waited for my flight home. The airport is so clean and security is great. Signages are available for easy access to different areas within the airport. Security is great as well.
Wheelchair support appalling. After picking one up at the aircraft (all good) when they get to the arrivals hall the assistant announced that they were "not allowed to go any further". We have recently completed an around-the-world trip using 15 airlines and this was my worst experience - by far. One should be taken to any reasonable location eg the e-hailing pick up place
Great travel experience. The domestic arrivals and international departures are super clean and well organised. Immigration is a breeze with very friendly staff. International departures is very quiet with a good selection of shops and seating The Bidvest lounge is fantastic and undoubtedly the best I've been too. From the staff to the food.. Great waiting for my flight
All went ok, bridge operator was a bit late so we had to wait to get off the plane. One thing I find increasingly annoying is these bumps and humps everywhere getting out of the e-hailing parking. Also the bagage trolleys were standing everywhere, almost no place to walk to get to the vehicle that is picking me up. Still one of the cleanest airports in south Africa.
The aesthetic is good. I love that it feels busy without being overcrowded. And I've always found the airport to be clean. But as an airport that sees millions of visitors, it feels lacking. The parking is confusing and is so very expensive. The wifi does not work (even though multiple posters and floor stickers announce its availability) The best part is the view.
Massive!!! Could use better signs... felt lost 90% of the time. Walked from one staff to the other for directions, luckily they were nice. Also waited a long while for the bus. Always stressed when flying from this massive airport. Fairly clean inside the airport but the busses should be sanitized. Got sick after my trip and I have a feeling it's from that bus.
Superb airport. Very expansive and very neat. Free airport WiFi is available. The food court has great choices if you love burgers, fries and pizza. There are also charging points in case you need to recharge your electronic equipment. There are also many shops and pharmacies. Restrooms are abundantly available and they are very clean and well maintained.
The airport is clean and efficient. I'm a frequent flier and I use it every month, the standards are always the same. I don't particularly enjoying disembarking in the tarmac when it's rainy. The incoming evening flights on Fridays are unfortunate to receive that treatment....disembarking on a rainy tarmac without a bus to ferry you to your gate.
Toilets dont have toilet paper and soap. Some lifts not working. Some escalators not working. Parking is super expensive. Airport looks boring compared to other international airports. Check in weigh belt not working at some airlines. Had to walk all the way to drop bags at excess weight luggage because of non working belts. Hardly place to sit.
A big airport. Clean, well maintained and managed. Smooth process through security and immigration. Clear signs everywhere. Information desks. Good variety of facilities and services. Duty free, restaurants and Cafe's, lounges, gift and souvenir shops , and much more. Clean and comfortable seating in waiting areas. Friendly and helpful staff.
Very friendly Staff always willing to help! We are NOT❌ wearing Surgical Masks, yet some folks are still fearful of the Germs, can't blame them! This International Airport is super clean! I truly enjoy coming here at times! Just bring extra Cash/ Plastic for the Parking !
Thankfully the elevated road allows quick drop n go. Plenty of parking, not very strict with waiting time and you don't feel rushed when you drop off. Just be considerate when parking because some take up multiple parking bays and stay the whole day whilst leaving someone waiting in the car.. but security eventually removes the cheaters
Absolute nonsense airport. Arrive Transfer passengers stamp in the country have to exit and go through main security. Queue up for another passport control. Advise you leave 4 hours to transit this place Suggest the management visit ANY OTHER AIRPORT IN THE WORLD. To see how to manage international transfers. Joke Absolute joke.
Good and friendly check in consultants. Valet parking and disabled parking available. Well displayed notice boards. On time annoumcements. On time arrivals . On time boarding of planes. Good service on the plains. Clean toilets and parking areas. Loads of shops available for resfreshment purchases. Overall excellent experience.
Wonderful airport with lots of information. I really love the detail on the international arrivals. The decor is laid out to highlight some of Cape Towns wonders. Also great to see guests coming past the arrivals. Bathrooms were lovely and clean and parking efficient. The check in process was fast efficient and supportive.
Nice airport. Very clean and want super congested when I went. They could have some more food options at the international gate and savoury snacks as well, but other than that everything was good. Also outside is very organized they have small parking lanes for dropoffs and you can see the mountain ranges from a distance.
Cape Town International Airport is the best airport in South Africa. Everything works, the staff are efficient and helpful, and the facilities are clean and well-maintained. The airport is also the right size, making it easy to navigate. This is a testament to the Western Cape's superior infrastructure and management.
Cape Town international Airport is one of the most exciting - open and light and filled with simple and sensible design details ; this is a brilliant example of architecture on a grand scale- successfully incorporating both design and user needs local flair. A pleasure to spend time at this weld class airport !
All the criteria for a great journey. Clean, safe & easy to navigate. Such a ease to find your way. Security all around & smooth transfers at checkpoints. Just a pleasant experience. Domestic and International flights checkin is effortless with short ques. Connecting SA to the world. Keep up the great work!
Being a smaller international airport, Cape Town International is very easy to navigate. The airport is clean and security and passport control are efficient. Do not expect smiles though. The Sky Lounge at the international boarding gates has excellent food and comfortable facilities (and smiles).
Very nice airport.Anple.parking space.Lots of shops to buy food, duty free alcohol,perfume,etc..smooth immigration movement..even a big shop on African native products and sovereigners..I have created a full video on the entire airport walking tour:- https://youtu.be/MRuIMrkJoEM?si=Ghtc-uN_G9QRqkBb
Cape Town International Airport is a modern large airport. With both domestic and international flights worldwide and nationwide. Many restaurants, bars and lounges to enjoy. Over 25+ airlines fly here. Signs are clear and staff are helpful. Bathrooms are mostly clean. Security is good.
As always a pleasant experience for an airport. The queue's moved swiftly, the staff were polite and the bathrooms and airport was clean and tidy. I like that they use initiative at check-in and start walking the queues to check tickets ahead of time to speed things up.
A lovely airport, extremely neat and tidy. Easily accessible. Well spaced out. Smooth check in process. A small selection of restaurants and stores. People are very friendly and helpful. It somehow has a very holiday kind of vibe to it compared to other airports.
Generally full, the service is decent, nothing to write home about. The one challenge is getting from the departures to car rental is quite a walk and many times the golf car lifts are no where to be found, so be prepared to walk alot. Other than that, it's fine.
Any easy journey to this airport from downtown Cape Town via the M2. Nice interior decor made our travels through the airport enjoyable. Food selection at the international gates/terminal was limited. We had no problems with security or passport control/customs.
Tonight was a nightmare to get out of the parkade. Please relook at the risk of getting out of the parking area via the defective booms. In case of big events just leave the booms open so that every body can exit without hassle. Welcoming the bokke was great.
Very vey bad service! Very disorganised and unfriendly... With check in they let the people who's flights are later check in first and people whose flights are sooner check in last and cause that they are late! Holding the lines up and stuff. Not satisfied!
Tourism Month launched at Cape Town International Airport on Friday. We are ready to welcome everyone to Cape Town. Thank you to Cape Town Tourism, Enver Duminy, James Vos an all role players for beautifying the gateway to the city. This is extraordinary.
Really efficient airport, continues to be online even during loadshedding, disabled parking is a long way from the terminal and up quite a steep slope. Good shops and restaurants. Friendly staff. Disabled toilets need to have some repairs done to them
It was my second time at the Airport (first time I arrived at night). The signs are pleasantly clear and easy to use and direct you to where you need to be. The airport feels mildly dated / run down which explains the 4 stars. Not a bad experience.
Went to pick up my sister and brother in law returning from an European holiday. After landing it took them only an hour to get their bags, going through customs and getting a welcome back hug. This time around the airport service gets 5 stars !
This aiport is always immaculately clean. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Disembarking was quick and efficient and luggage through as fast as one could hope for. Parkade 2 is excellent for drop and go and collection...a good move. 5 stars.
I used CEMAIR My flight was delayed by an hour. When we were on the bus I saw them throw suitcases on the plane and I mean throw. When I got my luggage back all my wheels were broken. They have no respect for your belongings. I am beyond mad
Over an hour wait queuing for passport control to get into the international departures! So instead of spending a relaxing hour in the BA Lounge I stood queuing instead. I think this is one of the most inefficient airports I’ve ever been to.
Cape Town International Airport is really a beautiful airport. The layout is simple but a lot of attention to detail was done by the architect. The interiors are exquisite with touch of Cape heritage legacy. The overall experience was good.
Cape Town Airport is very well organized and efficient. Quick check in at the counters. Lots of security. Easy to access the restaurants, flight details, check in gates. Not so enormous like O.R.TAMBO Airport. Excellent service all round
Whoever designed this airport was an idiot! You go through multiple passport control and security checkpoints all in different areas and then they stick you at a gate with no toilets, water or anything else for 2 hours before departure.
Very neat and clean. The only complaint is the price of the parking. Don't park in the lower ground near to the entrance it's only for drop and go. The price was R60 for +_ 45 minutes. Was told that the upper park bays are cheaper.
Not bad but no international transit that works so you have to go through emigration-and customs to the go through security and emigration(again) Soo if you fly in from Namibia and fly out to Botswana:RUN and skip all long lines!
The airport is quite small. Had to be there 2 hrs before departure and that wasn't a problem. The souvenirs shop are expensive, European prices. The toilets are not near every gate so have to keep that in mind before boarding.
Fastest I have been through passport control and collecting my bag in a long time. Lovely friendly faces all greet you as you get off the plane and all the way through to your taxi or loved ones. Clean airport too.. top notch
Who's clever idea was it to cancel the golf cart transfer from car hire returns to the boarding gates. ?? After 2 heart attacks in the last two years Pushing a full trolly loaded with heavy luggage nearly had a third one !!
This airport is very well designed and built. It rates among the world's best. Its nice and spacious in its design. I normally visit the Spur for a meal before my flights because the view of the flight apron is beautiful.
Cool airport as always, clean and subdued.I spent 14 hours there whilst waiting for my late night flight.Had breakfast at Wimpy.Good place overall. Visited it again this July of 2023 and still enjoyed my time there..
I was pleasantly surprised on how fast the luggage carrocell delivered my luggage. The staff was friendly and helpful and the arrival area super clean. I however do think that the trollies needs some maintenance.
P1 parking preferred over P2. Both a tad run down and needs a deep clean. Terminal clean and well laid out with clear signage. Some toilets a tad run down. Lots of restaurants and shops. On the MyCiti route...
A place for farewells and hellos. Huge but tranquil. There are food places and stores. Coffee shops to enjoy while waiting for your flight. Actually like a mini mall. Everything you will need at the airport.
It was the best airport ever it,s like fantasy land but on earth and really the services that they serve there is top notch quality at it's best it makes me feel like flying to different places everyday
Number One airport in Africa for a reason. Cape Town International is a lovely, clean, and efficient airport. With a good selection of eateries landslide, and an interesting selection of shops airside.
Spacious, clean, and well organized. I loved the Food WW that is there. it is easy to pick up stuff to take home. The restaurants upstairs are also very convenient! The Uber pickup is a bit confusing!
Definitely my airport to leave from if traveling abroad. Very relaxed and never feels rushed, very chilled vibes. Security is Always a breeze. And it's always nice to fly in to or away from Cape town
No staff to load the plane, boarding is a catastrophe. Guys, organizing isn't that difficult. Intercontinental flights should be handled with priority and in time due to the long travelling distance
Excellent airport so organised.thanks to Porters helping us with luggage. Car rental with Tempest very confusing as we had to go into Europcar...no notification of this for our return of vehicle.
Mug 'n Bean at the International departures area really served an awesome breakfast. Both meals ordered arrived hot, tasty, well presented eventhough the restaurant was buzzing. Worth the visit
Beautiful airport, my only challenge is that the wifi was not working, there is no working wifi for tourist to use this is so destabilizing and uncomfortable. There us a need to improve this.
Park Bay 4 Always my favorite parking place. Parking is not too expensive. Nice place to park, take your time to push a person with a wheelchair and baggage to International departures.
Not much to describe. This is an airport. You will generally get what you expect from an airport. However, all systems and proceedures are in place to make this a well oiled operation.
Entire Airport AC system has been on and off for months now. It effects all lounges and makes travelling uncomfortable. As a top tourist destination. CT can and should do much better.
Pretty efficient. They have a few places one can grab a snack at before entering checkin. Have a large parking space but sometimes can be slow when it comes to checking in bags.
Great regional airport, but not world class. Most of the restaurants are closed by 9pm, not catering to late night flights. Even the Spur closes early, makes little to no sense.
Very good landing experience. Passport control very friendly and efficient. Car hire staff at Tempest were brilliant. Easy to leave the airport and access the main N2 road.
A smallish well run international airport. Was voted best airport in Africa. Offers everything you need from an airport. Car hire, restaurants, book shop, gift shops etc.

I want to commend 2 people that helped us on our KLM flight which at 0.30 am in the morning. Our booking was canceled and they helped us get it reinstated. Many Thanks.
Easy to understand layout, friendly staff, clean, sit down restaurants are a bit pricey, outdated signage (uber pickup is Parkade 1 not Parkade 2 as indicated).
I enjoy this airport. It is clean and I know it's strange to say but it is relaxing. Great food and drink options. Clean toilets. Overall a great experience.
Though a very busy airport, the flow of queues is fast and efficient. Flights on time and many restaurants to sit down for a quick coffee before you board.
Information desk with knowledgeable person that helps quickly and efficiently. Easy drop off. Security a bit slow. Small but all you need from an airport.
The airline attendees were awful. They me going to the wrong check-in area. 3 times before I was able to get a boarding pass. The flight was awesome.
