Amusement park ride
"We went to the ticket booth at 10:15"
"Yes, it's old, but it's also a San Francisco classic, and the little ones love it"
"It's the largest carousel I've ever seen"
"Open on Sat/Sun only, parking is tough, 20 mins to get carousel tickets"
"We drove a hour to go to this carousel and the hours said that it closes at 4:30 and it was 3:00 and said they were not open"
We went to the ticket booth at 10:15. The website said that the carousel opened at 10:30. The woman at the booth told us that the website hadn’t been updated in 4 years and that it wouldn’t open until 11. Frustrated because the baby’s nap is at noon so we had to leave. I called parks and rec and they believed it opened at 10:30. They also said website had just been updated following pandemic. Somebody is mistaken and hopefully web site will reflect correct info or employee will begin operating carousel at 10:30 during weekdays. About 20 families were waiting and frustrated.
Yes, it's old, but it's also a San Francisco classic, and the little ones love it. Just let your imagination go in circles for a few minutes and ignore all your worries. Try and find a horse that not only goes up and down but also has some hair on its tail. If you're holding your kids hand, let the hair also gently hit their back and really pretend they're going to take off soon! And just remember when you get off, that millions of kids and adults have been around and around on this joy ride. And now you're on them too!
It's the largest carousel I've ever seen. And it's going round for both, little children and adults ones :) The carousel is located in a glasshouse thus providing shelter against the constantly blowing wind. Also a plus is a little kiosk nearby with coffee and snacks selling. A nice fun for the whole family in the heart of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Park :)
Open on Sat/Sun only, parking is tough, 20 mins to get carousel tickets. But it’s still fun lol. Tickets are cheap, various animals to choose from (horses, cat, ostrich, dragon, zebra, lion), ride time just enough. Right next to a playground so your kid will be entertained and you can peacefully drink your coffee.
We drove a hour to go to this carousel and the hours said that it closes at 4:30 and it was 3:00 and said they were not open. So we waisted 1 hour of our day to go to a place that was suppose to be open but was not. We looked on every site they had and it said that they closed at 4:30 and not any time before.
It's lovely and inexpensive, set near a spectacular playground. My only complaint is that unlike the carousel in New York's Central Park, there are no safety belts, so some expecting to be able to strap their little ones to a horse or zebra will be disappointed. I hope they get safety belts someday.
This antique carousel is a truly special feature of the cultural landscape of San Francisco. Nestled in the children's section of Golden Gate Park, it is perfectly located for young people to enjoy and get a small taste of history. However, the building it is housed in could use some maintenance.
Nice carrousel that is strangely closed inside a building. I don't know the reason behind that but looks horrible. The worse thing is that is difficult to see the people riding it because if you are not riding it, you have to stay outside.
Got here on Friday at 5.30, as Google said this closes at 6. Apparently it closes at 4.30 on Fridays. The kids were upset, but picked out which animals they would ride when we come on the weekend. So, here comes the weekend, Sunday noon,
We have a two year old and she loved riding on the carousel. Not sure how old this is but it looked original and it is always cool to experience these places nostalgic pieces of history. We will do this again.
When I go to the city I always take my kids here. This is not a bad price I think and it is fun for them. They get to ride it when we get to the park and when we leave if they have been good.
$2 for adults (ages 12 & up) and $1 for children! It’s a solid carousel and staff are friendly. The area it’s located in is an great part of Golden Gate Park that is kid friendly.
Cool carousel, right next to the big playground. Sometimes there is an ice cream vendor and a hot dog vendor in front (ice cream always hits the spot!)
After seeing a video of her brother on the carousel, my granddaughter has been asking for a ride too, we finally did and she did not want to get off.
Checked online and it was supposed to be open on a Monday, came here. It’s closed and it doesn’t say anything about operation hours
20 minutes avant l'horaire de fermeture, le gars veu plus te vendre de tickets et il a fermé la grille 15 minutes avant 17h.
This place is where I went with my father as a child! Good memories are made here. You'll children will never forget it
Classic old carousel! The original carousel organ is still there, but not functioning. I would love to see it restored!
Great attraction for kids. It’s $2 for adults (12+) and $1 for kids (6 to 12). The carousel is really well maintained.
One of the best playgrounds in the city next to a merry go round. Hard to argue. It can get very busy most days.
I've been there when I was a kid. My mom has been there when SHE was a kid. This place should stay there always!
My two year old had the greatest time, she even had us ride on one of the horses that move up and down
Old but charming. No line. Everyone was respectful about mask wearing. $2 for adults. Kids <6 free.
Tickets sold on the same line with hot dogs & coffee, so good luck competing with hungry families
Beautiful old fashioned carousel. Only $2 per ride and adults of children 5 and younger are free.
This a classic carousel -- very beautiful, fully restored. A must for parents with young kids!
Please update your hours. Your voicemail and google maps listing are just wrong on a Sunday.
The guy who sells ticket is too slow. It tool 20 minutes for 10 people to buy ticket
Great kids activity; good pricing too as adults are $2 and kids under 5 are free.
Fun and low cost. My grand daughter loves it. Plus the playground next to it.
Best playground with shade, ideal for family gathering, such a warm feeling.
03pm carrossel fechado, sem indicativo de horário e informações adicionais
Love this place. Been coming since I was a baby, now I'm taking my babys.
Won't sell tickets at the door so you have to wait in a long food line.
Beautiful, fun carousel located right next to a great playground.
Carosello del 1914 costruito in legno. Bellissimo ed originale.
The Carousel is open 7days a week now from 10:30 till 4:30
Great price operates even in the rain! Fun for all ages.
I like the Carousel ride but they need sanitizer wipes.
The kids love it. Try to go when its not busy.
Cheap but not enough variety on the rides.
So fun and just $2 for adults. $1 for kids
I had a good time on carousel you must go
Fun, old school carousel and inexpensive.
Good old timey carousel reasonably priced
