Absolutely appalled with the customer service, food and hygiene! We were given out of date desserts, which one of the member of my party actually consumed - a health risk! The desserts, as confirmed by the restaurant owner, was made 2 days prior and had a fishy smell and tasted absolutely awful. He wasn’t very happy when we decided to not order a replacement of the same desserts, as in this situation anyone would be put off. We also didn’t want to risk contracting any health issues due to it. He mentioned he had fresh ones in the back - then why not serve those in the first place? It wasn’t our fault, yet we were made to feel really bad about this situation. Additionally, the lady at the front desk was incredibly rude and abrupt from the minute we entered the restaurant. We felt unwelcome and uneasy. Although, our waitress was very kind - thanks to her we decided to actually stay and have a meal instead of walking out! Overall, we will not be coming back to this restaurant. They need to drastically improve on how they treat their customers, and check the food they are serving. Many italian restaurants in leicester provide an excellent customer experience - and we were really hoping this one did the same!

Went to this restaurant a few weeks ago as a party of 7 on a Saturday night. It was busy, the restaurant is small. Initially the service seemed ok but as our party all arrived and we got talking and laughing, the manager came over and told us rather abruptly to keep the noise down! We weren't THAT loud! Anyway, that set the tone a little bit and we felt that we couldn't enjoy ourselves because we would be told to keep the volume down again. The wine was nice and the beers were cold. The food, here's what really grates me, this restaurant is meant to have good, Italian food... the food was average at best. My friends scallops were nice but with no accompaniments, it was expensive. The pasta didn't seem as though it was fresh and made on site, rather looked and tasted like packet, dried pasta. I had the chicken in cream sauce, this was super bland, I had to add salt to my dish which something that I never do! Overall, it is a restaurant that is well over priced for the quality and quantity of food served. We were on a night out and didn't want to sour the night anymore by complaining so we paid and left... none of us would go back!

I sat in the restaurant and a group of people came in. They seemed to be in very chatty manner . They was greeted and I heard a make raise his voice and say " your joking " . A person I assumed was a manager came to them . He was shouting at them telling them there all the same. I called a waitress over and enquired as to why the commotion ( I'm a bit nosey ) I was told its because their travellers. I asked what that ment. They said " they have to pay before they get their meal or the won't pay and police are called " . I said "what these people" ? They replied" no but they are all the same" . I was shocked that this manner of discrimination can still continue in 2023 when a baby is not a baby and you can be of no gender. But if your from the travelling community your all targeted with the same arrow. Myself and my family will not be returning to this establishment when we visit our parents .

Staff are really rude. Not a pleasant place to eat at all. Staff are mardy and it's like they have been forced to work. No one even cracked a smile. We were just there to have a good time. There is a small walk way between the tables and the waitress was running up and down like she was in a marathon and they weren't even busy. She was smashing plates together. The food wasn't great. Yeasty bread and when we asked for balsamic vinegar and butter the man was not happy about this and shook his head in anger and said why you need both and came back and said we do not have butter how does a restaurant not have butter? Our starter was garlic butter mushrooms this has butter in it definitely the worst customer service. To further to our disappointment we saw the old mn scratching his bottom and the handling plates. Never have I ever had a lasagne without cheese on it this place has really gone down hill and we will not be returning. Definitely not worth the money.

Hidden away down the backstreets in the city centre, we stumbled across this place by chance when googling an Italian restaurant for dinner. Was fairly busy but only had to wait for 15 minutes or so. Good selection of starters and mains including fish, chicken, veal, steak and pasta. Also had some specials with mussels, scallops, swordfish or monkfish as options. I had the duck ragout whilst my partner had steak with truffle, sun dried tomatoes and cream sauce which was absolutely divine! More upmarket compared to other places in the city centre but we’ll worth the price. Food was absolutely delicious and we’re looking forward to coming back soon!

We went as a group of 11 blokes and ordered from the Xmas menu. The service was ok. We had a variety of starters between us, my goats cheese salad with beetroot was ok. The mains.... We waited ages for them which I don't necessarily mind, but with lots of the group ordering steak and chips, it was disappointing to see the chips being brought out in sharing bowls. For that price we feel chips on the plate would be appropriate. The salad looked utterly miserable, lettuce yellow and poorly chopped. My canaloni was ok, but if someone told me it was a microwaved marks and Spencer meal I wouldn't have been surprised. The experience could have been improved with more beer choices, some music would have been nice, and the small details I previously mentioned. That being said, I think 2 of 5 is very fair., perhaps lenient.

For a Thursday evening it was fairly busy with a nice atmosphere. Wine was fantastic. Prawns plump and in a delicious, perfected tomato and garlic sauce. I had Penne All’ Arrabbiata with Chicken, arrabbiata being a simple tomato dish but therefore very difficult to make it taste so complex - which they easily managed. Partner had veal. Not for me or him personally but glad we tried it. Had sautéed potatoes with it which were sadly undercooked. Coffee smelt wonderful although unfortunately not something to have in the evening for us :) Overall it was lovely and will be back for more!

Wow, just wow... I had a truly exceptional evening at Casa Romana. Took the missus out for her birthday, and the service was superb, the food was absolutely incredible, easily matching (and in my opinion, better) than the meals from my favourite restaurant in Rome. The starters of garlic mushrooms and scallops were devoured with absolute delight, and the mains of chicken arabiata and carbonara were absolutely delicious. All at a surprisingly reasonable price, excellent value. Without a doubt, probably the best meal out I have eaten in my life, I will definately be returnimg.

Nikki was an amazing host and is a credit to Cassa Romana. She met every single expectation for a restaurant of pure excellence. Nikki constantly made sure that we were content, whereby offering complementary bread and olives in addition to reassuring us regarding when our table was ready. She offered her personal opinion and positively influenced my meal choice in which I chose a unique meal that combined two existing dishes. She ended our night with a smile and undoubtedly earned her generous tip. My only criticism is to Cassa Romana is that lack of variation of the dishes - This last point was the preventing factor from 5 stars.
Beautiful little hidden gem, not overstated on the outside and cozy on the inside. Located just off Belvoir Street on Albion Street. Traditional Italian restaurant serving authentic Itaian food. The menu caters well for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Specials board had a great range of fresh fish options. Drinks menu has a large wine menu (as expected for an Italian restaurant), but doesnt cater much for beers/ales. Staff very friendly and attentive and service was prompt. Amazed I haven't been here before in all the time I've been in Leicester. Will definitely go again with family.

Went here with family. Got the Tagliatelle Trimalcione (sausage), Tagliatelle with Lamb Ragout, Penne All’ Arrabbiata (veg), and a Pappardelle Mushroom / truffle special. The Lamb Ragout was pretty mediocre, minimal taste, however the Tagliatelle Trimalcione was very nice! As was the Pappardelle mushroom. It's pretty loud and crowded inside but it makes for a nice atmosphere. My only complaint was the waiter mixed up our dishes and said I had the lamb when I had the sausage, so I asked for parmesan but had to switch dishes with someone who doesn't like parmesan. Apart from that all good, I'll be back to try some new dishes.
Whilst it has a cosy atmosphere and the staff were nice. I was really disappointed in my meal. I had the lasagne. It was bland and the meat was sub par. However, the others in the party for the most part enjoyed theirs the sea bass was delicious. All in all, a nice place that I am sure you will get a nice meal at... But this time I didn't get what I was expecting. Edit. Second time going here. Staff were just as friendly. However my rating still stands . The swordfish was covered in stuff that just took away from the taste of the fish and the salad was literally a couple of Lettuce leaves and a tomato.
An amazing Italian that's been there for 40 years. So easy to miss. Gets busy. Best to book. Lively small restaurant. Does all the pasta and pizza. But fish is its speciality. We had sword fish ( the best I've had in years), sea bass and monk fish. All cooked to perfection. Fish menu varies on what's fresh on the day. Lovely friendly staff. Great night out. Can't wait to go again.

What's not to like about Casa Romana it Hidden away in the city centre down a side street. You go in and the décor may be a little old but the place has an amazing atmosphere the staff are amazing and super friendly and then you have the food. I'd put it out there I think this is some of the best Italian food you can get in Leicester. You won't find any pizzas here and that's not a bad thing worth your time and money to check this place out you can't go wrong with any of there dishes especially the pasta.
Fab place to eat! Tucked away down a side street in Leicester this place offers authentic cuisine at a more than reasonable price. A group of 4 of us paid a quick visit before we'd booked a table at a cocktail bar. The service was quick, waiter polite and we were more than happy with the food. Will definitely be returning for a less rushed visit to soak up the atmosphere and sample more than just the main courses (which is all we had time for on our last visit).
Been going for a few years. But went again tonight after not been going for a while (a year) with my partner and we was very disappointed, the taste was still good but the portion sizes was shocking! I eat my pasta within about 5 spoonfuls and my partner mussels was gritty, fair enough they are fresh and you expect a couple of gritty ones but not lots when they cost £18! We are they sad to say we won't be going back as it's no longer value for money
This is a nice hidden little restaurant. Seems to be family owned. Staff are nice and welcoming. We sat downstairs which was slightly cramped but the table was still comfortable enough. I've read plenty of good reviews and recommendations about this place so had high expectations. The food did not disappoint, however it was nothing more special than something from Zizzis or Prezzo. Reasonably priced and a good variety of foods.
Service is just not there , food average not the best Italian , seems they are living off the fact the restaurant has been there forever just a shame the service levels are so poor . Wasn’t my choice of restaurant but thought I would give it another go but it did nothing to impress and for that I will not return

A true hidden gem in Leicester, we celebrated our 4 year anniversary there last night, we really wanted italian food and found this on Google, you will be surprised once you enter! It doesn't look like a restaurant on the outside but once inside it is a lovely intimate restaurant, drinks and food was delicious! Made us feel like we were back in Italy, this was the first and certainly not our last visit!
A MA ZING! If you go there for the first time, you won't be able to stop! Food is absolutely delicious. I recommend bruschetta and my absolute favourite which is monkfish tagliatelle with basil sauce. It tastes like heaven. Scallops are lovely too... I miss going there (f....y.... COVID), there is no better Italian restaurant than this place. Forget all the chains... Casa Romana is the Italian food heaven.
We visited on Saturday evening and the food was at its usual high standard. It is traditional home-cooked Italian food. Plenty of Pasta dishes but no pizza but there are other options - the Sea Bass is particularly good. The place was busy as normal at weekends with a great buzz. The service was spot on as always. This is one of our favourite places to eat in Leicester. top marks to Francesco and the team
I had the lamb ragout tagliatelle and it could have been a vegetarian! It seemed like I only had 3 mini slices of lamb in it. I was in a party of 12 and we all thought the same. The atmosphere seemed disjointed - the bread and oil came out separately with a 20 minutes gap. Also, don't order a ginger ale there as it comes in whisky glass. The food and service was okay but certainly not award winning.
Fantastic place that's really hidden away. The feel the moment you step in is convivial and you're made right at home. I was told there were no tables available, but then the owner rushed over and said he could fit us in no problem. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Very traditional with the Italian owner happily talking to the customers. If you want a real experience of Italy go here.
This place has been around for more than 40 years. It has no sign outside the restaurant as they have never had to advertise. Instead they relied on word of mouth (or good reviews). My visit was with a crowd so we were put upstairs out of harms way. I ordered steak and it was a great cut in a fantastic sauce. If you want to try it I would suggest you go in the week as weekends are a bit crowded.
Only 3 stars for me; starters were very small and not very creative. We opted for steaks and monkfish special for mains; again for £26.50 (monkfish) we were expecting more on the plate. One of the steaks chewy. Deserts ok. Didn't bother with coffee as bundled off the table for fresh customers. Won't be returning.

Brilliant food but service lets it down. Firstly I want to highlight how good the food was here - beautifully cooked and very delicious. However we will not be returning unfortunately due to the service. It was not a friendly atmosphere, and the waitress offered little friendliness and looked very unhappy at being there. Just spoilt the experience and we did not feel welcome at all.
A true gem hidden behind the unmarked green door. The service was friendly and efficient nothing seemed too much trouble. It has been a good couple of years since our last visit but it felt like it was just yesterday. The food is delicious piping hot and the portion size is just right. In my humble opinion the best Italian restaurant in town. Give it a try you won't regret it.
Went here for the first time on the anniversary of losing mum . Mum and dad would rave about this hidden gem when they visited regularly in the 90s ...so it seemed fitting to go to remember them. Wasn't disappointed food was lovely home cooking . Small and personal atmosphere and staff very friendly and accommodating. Friend wanted hot pasta and they didn't disappoint.
Hadn’t been here since I was a kid, came tonight and was delighted with every aspect - delicious food; welcoming, friendly, and attentive service; great atmosphere. Will definitely be returning soon.

This is one of the best Italian places in Leicester! If you like scallops as much as I do, the ones here are a must! They're cooked perfectly, and that sauce that goes with it just amplifies it! Also, they have flavoured creme brulee, usually set on the menu, so it's a little surprise! I've tried the orange and raspberry so far, and they are good!
Friendly service and nice setting but there were some issues with the food. The carbonara was a pretty small portion and i cook a better one myself so disappointed. The creme brûle was pretty terrible, barely caramelised suger and the dish was overcooked so tasted bit nasty. Overall not great...

Wow, this place is incredible. Despite living in Leicester my whole life I somehow did not know about this place. A friend invited me and wife to try it out. I was not disappointed. The food was excellent to go along with the very reasonable prices and equally excellent service. One of my new favourites to visit in Leicester.
Delicious food, homely atmosphere and possible the best calamari I've ever had. Highly recommend all the dishes we tried, food was all bursting with flavour, the highlight for me being the calamari. The service was good but was more relaxed then some people might expect but for me it kept with the atmosphere of the place.
Spent a really pleasant evening here. The food was fabulous...we had the fish lasagna and lobster ravioli for starters followed by the duck penne and lamb tagliatelle. The hubby also tried the Tiramisù, which he said was delicious. The host was really friendly and very accommodating. Would highly recommend the restaurant!
We had lunch here today, the food was quick to arrive and it was quite tasty. The family loved the Spaghetti Carbonara. It was a nice touch with the bread and olives on arrival. The pasta dishes cost around eight pounds each. It is worth a visit away from the main huddle and bussle of Leicester at the weekend.
Racist Owner with NO etiquette and manners. Plods around his 2 bit restaurant pandering and brown-nosing the decrepit old white people lol. He is a total D&ck. Went in with my African wife and kids. Will never visit this dump again!! There are plenty of fantastic Italian restaurants just not this one . AVOID

Catered well for a large party, fantastic waiter that put up with all of us he was up and down the stairs all night fetching food and drinks. Meals came out with no long wait being as there was 24 of us. Good night had by all, highly recommended this restaurant. Oh and the was great.! …
My partner and I went here last night for our anniversary meal, and we weren't disappointed. Really impressed with the starters and mains, we didn't try the puddings, so I can't comment on them. I definitely recommend for an authentic iltalian. Staff were friendly and the service was good.

Warm welcome and good service. Food was disappointing! The dish pollo alla Romana was not what I expected comparing to other pics I've seen over the internet. Basically it was breast of chicken with a tin of tomatoes just poured on top. There was no taste except tomatos.
Went here last Thursday with fridnds. Looked more traditional than trendy (right up my street). Lovely food, we had mussels, lobster ravioli, prawn spaghetti and a lamb ragu. Nice atmosphere. The wind was fab too. Really reasonably priced. Will definitely be revisiting.

What a lovely restaurant! We were driving through Carlisle and just chanced upon this place. What a brilliant surprise it was. The food was absolutely delicious, a wonderful ambience and really kid friendly. Great service and the food came quickly too. Thank you!
Delicious lamb ragu on tagliatelle and garlic bread starters. Disappointing lobster ravioli but good steak. Didn't come out with side salad as per menu. Good wines and coffee. Plain desserts (pear/ricotta torte and hazelnut semifredo). Expensive for what it was.
I loved everything about this place. It's cosy, staff are very friendly, welcoming and professional. The food was amazing! We got Scallops, Lobster ravioli and Spaghetti Gambri. The scallops were fresh and the sauce was fabulous. I would definitely come again!
Really, love that restaurant except the small portions of spaghetti. But to tell you truth it was enough after we had a small ball of olives with fresh bread. On the pic you can see half of delicious bruschetta and m spaghetti bolognese. Thanks for nice lunch.
Nice atmosphere but food was quite ordinary and service was only satisfactory. (We were in a party of 10+ and some people were served along time before others were served). I think that the experience would be much better if you are in a couple or small group.

The starters and main meals here were delicious, perfect for a date night. I had the lobster ravioli and it was full of flavour. The sides were very average and salty. Defo stick to the italian food here and not the sides.
(Visited before pandemic so had to book ahead) IMO the best Italian restaurant in Leicester. Unpretentious and excellent cooking. Small parking lot at rear. Not easy to find (use G maps) but they don't need to be :)
Excellent lunch as usual. Good food, good portions, pleasant staff. Prices have gone up, but where hasn't. Still better value than most .

Great food, good atmosphere. Hard to find the place as it seems to have no outside sign at the moment and be housed in what looks like a brick industrial unit! Green door is only way to find it after using Google
Come a casa! A perfect trattoria, tucked away, which delivers simple, perfectly prepared authentic Italian. Great service, friendly staff and delicious food!

Had lunch with the wife today. The service was excellent. The food arrived quickly and was hot and delicious. Shame I'm on a diet or o may have sampled more of the menu. Overall experience was very satisfying.
Absolutely love this authentic Italian restaurant, the food service and atmosphere 10/10. And the prices are very reasonable. The little green door x

Staff very rude arguing over the table throughout the food to the table was like a happy eater cafe "chicken chicken chicken" balled across the room. When ording drink it was like i was an inconvenance.
Wonderful. Divine food, great service! It was our 15th anniversary and they made it really special for us without even knowing it was our 15th. Our first time visiting, but it will *not* be the last!!!
The best restaurant by a mile in Leicester. Been going for over 20 years and it never disappoints. Warm welcome from Francesco and all of his staff. Food simply amazing. You won't get better …
Absolutely stunning restaurant. Food was sublime and the staff are wonderful. If you're looking for authentic Italian food in Leicestershire this is the place to be. Book well in advance though
If you’re looking for a nice dinner in Leicester, come here. Try the carbonara. Great quality food and service and reasonably priced.

Simple recipes. Small place which can feel cosy or a bit cramped depending on how busy it is! The food is always really tasty and it's good value. The owner is always very welcoming too
One of those hidden away gems. Fantastic freshly prepared meals with the best staff. Always welcoming, the sort of place you always know you'll come back to and never be disappointed.
I would definitely recommend Casa Romana. I'm not a big Italian food fan but I'm bringing the family back here
