Warburton Redwood Forest is 1.5hrs drive from our home & I would say it’s worth the trip. Came early during Easter Monday & it’s a wise decision as parking & traffic became heavy later on our way home. Forest is just across the road from the parking area. Mystical & magical place... i love the musky red wood scent & the sound of the stream water towards the back end of the forest. Good place to take deep breaths in exchange of the city air we breath. Generally clean & well maintained place; except for a coffee cup left uncaringly against a tree. No toilets so come as empty as possible... unfortunately, we saw one male doing it at some odd corner. Perfect autumn weather for us & other families —kids enjoy safely running around the woods. Soo beatiful & relaxing place. Highly recommended even for families with kids. Given a chance, I wanna come back. Thank you to the families we met onsite & allowing me to post their beautiful photo here. Nice meeting you guys.

Right here in Victoria, you will find magical redwood trees. Despite its small size, the forest is filled with tall trees that make for beautiful photos. So enjoy a book by the water or play hide-and-seek. There is a car park just in front of the forest, so it's a minute's walk to the woods. Besides the walking tracks, there are several cool creeks and shady spots for picnics. A small nest has been created by visitors so that others can take beautiful pictures of it. And there are no toilets, so plan accordingly. The nearest toilets are 3.4km away. Address: 410A Woods Point Rd, East Warburton VIC 3799 Best to stop at the toilets on the way in. There are also toilets in Warburton town. It's best to drive here. Public transport is tricky as the frequency is not great. Also, it's very hard to get uber or taxi to town from Redwood forest.

A beautiful place to visit. Calm cool and a unique place in Victoria. Totally worth the driving. A place like in the horror movie and you gonna be killed or be chasing by some killer play hide and seek in this wood. Should be a good fun. And the bird nest don’t know who built that it’s a good place to take photo like a Phoenix or little bird waiting for mum to com Home feed you. There’s a river you can play in the water there it’s nice and cool fresh. In the summer time it will be a very ideal place to hang with your friends or family. But remember to come here early or you don’t have parking have to walk a long way to get in.

This is a must see if you are in the Warburton/East Warburton area. Please be careful on approach as there is narrow unsealed roads and a single lane bridge, and can get very busy on good weather peak season. But once your there, it is both beautiful and serene. Very quiet and still, brings a sense of peace and tranquillity in an otherwise chaotic world. It’s like being transported to another land. But please be respectful to the environment and the local community. Don’t litter or block roads/driveways. No on-site bins or toilets so be prepared.

First visit to this forest. Firstly it was beyond my expectation. The forest, or i d say the wood plantation, is very nature. The trees have been neatly planted and looked after. Good place for retreat from any stress and connect to nature. Many deep and connective sound of nature which can help human psychology. Not far inside wood forest, there is a creek or small river, which have complex habitat, and it is a good place for another mind relaxation moment. Definetely coming back. And it should not be missed for visitor to come.

This place is very special and magical when you walk into the woods. Looking from the outside it just looks like an ordinary Forest. Once you enter the forest you see your inner lost world of red wood trees. There's not much to do around this area except walking through this forest. You can have picnic at the open space just make sure you come early as it gets very busy and there is not much Carpark available. If you come here on a wet day the road is very muddy so just prepare to clean your car at the end of the day.

  • Justine Streager

This place is so cool! When under the red wood all the trees in every direction are in a perfect row. Vertically - in a row, horizontally - in a row, diagonally - in a row. It's so wired and so cool. The trees tower above you and create a beautifully soft underground which is really kept very neat and maintained. We saw a few people with dogs but I'm pretty sure it's no dogs allowed. If you walk beyond the redwood trees you can find your way to a path and a river to see and follow. Highly recommend visiting.

Such a lovely place to visit. Car park is right next to the forest so you have the most convenient access. The actual redwood forest is not that big, so if you just go to take a picture and see for yourself, it wouldn't take long at all. But it's nice to hang around, contemplate and appreciate the beauty and you could spend hours here. Every spot is instagrammable. However the cute nests are only a few around the forests so sometimes it might get a bit busy and you have to wait to take a picture.

One of the best places for nature lovers and lovely place to have a picnic with your family and friends. Take a restorative walk through the majestic Californian Redwood Forest, just 15-minutes from Warburton and a 90-minute drive from Melbourne's CBD. Do some forest bathing in the company of almost 1500 enormous red-barked trees, some of which stand up to 55 metres high, towering into the sky. Head through the forest and down to the river to find the forest's walking trails.

Wanting an escape into the quiet forest? This is probably your best option if you are in Mel. Abt 1.5hr drive from CBD and close to Yarra Junction, offers you a peaceful view of lines of straight high trees. Kids and family friendly, Insta worthy location. Some walk tracks available in that area. Also don’t forget to stop by in a town nearby called Warburton, for some great pizza and coffee. Plus lots of activity options waiting for you to discover.

What an experience it was, just witnessing these gorgeous tall and magnificent trees.. The giant California Redwood trees offer a rare spectacle as there are only 2 of these here; the other one being at the Beech Forest, Great Otway National Park on Great Ocean Road. Take a walk, capture some stunning pictures, venture down towards the lush green trail and simply soak in the quietness of this amazing place. There's even a river steam to enjoy!!

  • James Barlow

A magic 'little' forest of California redwoods right here in Victoria. The forest is not that big but the trees themselves are breathtakingly tall and make for some wonderful photos. Our kids loved running through and hiding amongst the shady redwoods. The introduced giants are also amongst some lovely native forests and the park offers some peaceful places to sit on the banks of Cement Creek. Parking can be a bit fierce during busy times.

A magical forest experience that photos do no justice of. It’s slightly over an hour’s drive out of Melbourne, but a beautiful drive, especially when the sun is out. The mountains highway is a treat for the eyes on the drive - so it makes the drive pleasant. But when reaching the forest - it looks dodgy and unassuming on the outside. But when you step in - it’s a whole new world. Totally worth the drive and the experience!

  • Siyi Pan

Well, personally I don’t mind exploring the small forest with other visitors (as long as the amount is reasonable). Actually, the other weekday when I was roaming around the forest with my partner, I came across other people meditating in the bush or on a cut trunk. Nobody bothered them in the least. They inspired me to sit a while for meditation. It was a really beautiful experience.

  • Ben Strathdee

Absolutely stunning. Amazing that a place that was planted by people can feel so natural and soothing. If you time your visit right it is so peaceful and quiet, like the trees around you just absorb all noise to create a peaceful little sanctuary. If you can find the creek there are some stunning views, so much to see and find on the trails through and around the forest itself.

  • Adam Ellaz

A beautiful forest experience. I visited with my nieces and it was really fun to get out of the house and explore a real forest. You can follow the path or trek through the muddy wilderness and see some beautiful sights. Lots of hot spots full of amazement, even some areas with giant logs to hop on, even a massive uprooted tree to explore. Overall lovely experience.

  • danny ho

Beautiful and organised tree planting beautiful for photography. Green and cozy makes you feel relax when walking in this beautiful redwood forest! Must go place if you visit Melbourne! Tips: best time to go between 11am - 1pm sunlight is the key for the best view. Avoid going when it's wet, you will caught on muddy shoes if you walk further down.

  • Trang Nguyen

Very nice redwood forest with big tall tree. Car park is just in front of the forest so literally 1 min walk in. Easy access to everyone. Also have big grass field and tree surrounding for picnic and party gathering. Suitable to bring family, kids or elders. Also have a coffee van in front of the forest for coffee lovers or just fancy a drink.

  • Heather Brennan

This place is magical and serene at the best of times, but I chose to visit ½ hour before sunrise, on a beautiful clear morning (no clouds to hide the sun.) I had the entire forest to myself, to explore alone! The highlight was watching the sun rise between the majestic tree trunks! This is an experience I'll never forget!

  • Jopopz Tallorin

If you love nature, trees and forest, this is a perfect place to go for a drive day. Great area and grounds. Bring the family and kids!...Just be careful and don't get lost in the forest. Bring your camera too! Great for photo shoots. Recommended, go and visit this place. Great shops and cafes around the nearby town area.

  • Akanksha .Dwivedi

Amazing place! From the outside it looks like just another tourist spot, but when you enter inside, it's a beautiful world of redwood trees. Perfectly aligned in all directions. The temperature is 1-2 degrees less than outside. Don't forget to click pictures in panorama mode vertically to get the entire length of trees!

  • Oliver Harling

This Is an incredible place to visit, really amazing trees. I’d recommend getting here early it’s even nicer with not too many people around Note: there are no bank grooms here so go before you get here it’s a shame to see how many people have just gone to the toilet in the middle of the path, really spoils the view

  • Asha Kurup

A gorgeous and unreal plot of forest! Excellent for exploring or walking around mindlessly. Go in the morning to avoid crowds. Lots of trails to follow. The path is uneven at times, so would not recommend for anyone who is not sturdy on their feet. Good shoes a must in case it is a bit wet. Bring your camera!

  • Linda B

Carpark gets full fast, aim to get there before 11am to secure parking. Good family outing, the dragons nests are novel. The woods, the bubbling brook nearby & the meandering trails make for great photos. Beat the crowds & get there early & enjoy the drive there with the interesting shops & cafes on the way.

  • ng wei ping

Although the road into the place can be bumpy but it is definitely worth visiting. The forest are filled with tall and straight redwood trees. Any photographers or nature lover would love it. If you are thirsty or hungry, there is a mobile cafe available at the carpark, for a cup of coffee or hot dog.

  • Mitchell Young

I loved it! Amazing views here, the forest spans a distance and there's also more places to walk around the forest, there was a small river that was very pleasant to walk. Getting there by car through the last stretch of road to the forest was a little difficult with bumpy roads. Absolutely recommend!

  • Gehan Ranawana

A beautiful place to visit for the whole family. Easy to get to with ample parking, however, gets quite busy during the summer, the forest has some really beautiful views with the rows and rows of neatly planted tall redwood trees. Walk through the forest and it takes you to a beautiful small stream.

  • Robyn Pizzoni

A great relaxing day! The walk was easy, but there’s bigger hike’s available to the public if you want to walk more! We walked through the woods and down along the stream and back. The giant nests made from twigs are a real novelty too! After that we enjoyed a lovely lunch heading back to Melbourne.

  • Nesreen m

Absolutely stunning unique location. I recommend to have a nice picnic within the trees. So beautiful. Parking can be an issue on school holidays with Really hazardous deep potholes to drive in to Forrest, I highly recommend you take a suv or 4wheel drive, we really struggled with our small car.

  • Thilo

Amazing place of peace and beauty. You can experience the beautiful gigantic trees and the peacefulness when strolling between them. You can also walk besides the creek and listening to the calming affect of water flowing over rocks. Lose yourself in the forest. Go there , you won’t regret it

  • Dean Basić

This really was on a level of its own. I've been wanting to go here for a while and it was well worth the trip. The crisp air, mixed with the abundance of natural beauty did make it a trip to remember. Would recommend to anyone that likes casual strolls through stunning scenery.

  • Geeshi Live

This is one of the best attractions around VICTORIA. Best wood feeling .. Giant trees… suitable for a -PHOTOGRAPHS -VIDEOTAPE -CAMPING -PICNIC bloody awesome scenery. Be careful when you fly your drones , because the signal drops time to time .. your drones can be damaged ..

  • C Martis

Stunning little enchanted forest of Redwood tress tucked at the foothill of the Yarra Ranges. Perfect for a short trip away from the city hustle. Walk the trails to discover the Yarra river flowing through the bushland. Pack a basket for an idyllic picnic by the river bank.

  • Yong Liang Teh

While the road in is closed, you can still reach it by taking the O'Shannassy Aqueduct track, although it's 6 to 7 km which is about 2 hours walk (one way). And the walk is mostly flat with great views of the forest. Mountain biking in would be yet an even better option.

  • JFB

Amazing day spent here with friends! It's much smaller than I'd thought but there are so many walking tracks that go beyond the initial plantation. There's cool little creeks running alonside the walking tracks and plenty of spots for a picnic or relaxing in the shade.

  • Bec T

This place is absolutely beautiful. It’s so big so every time you go it feels like you get to see something new. The nests of fallen branches are really amazing and the creek running through is beautiful! Perfect place to spend the day and have a picnic

  • Lemuel Yee

Totally enchanted by the redwood forest. The hike is easy, no inclines or rough terrain. Just a walk in the woods. Also lots of photo opportunities, especially in the redwood forest itself. There is also a stream and some open spaces good for camping.

  • James Lim

One of my favourite places, it's so mysterious and cinematic. Great for photos! A bit hard to get there with an average car though, the dirt road is a bit bumpy and can be muddy and slippery. On a dry day it should be fine for most people to visit.

  • Gabbi Tesoriero

Beautiful forest with heaps of tall redwood trees that look quite spectacular. There are many trails to walk on both inside the forest and around it too. Go early in the morning as it can get quite busy and finding a park can become very difficult!

  • Helen K (Copper)

Amazing place. Cooler environment. Not a big area can have a lot of people and still feel alone in there. Eerie but soothing. Great just to sit and take it all in. A short stroll to the little creek and then to the river. Just love it here

  • Bob Ranchod

Wonderfully majestic serene stand of mature planted Redwood trees. Only a few minutes from the main highway in East Warburton. Lots of nearby parking and a coffee cart for small meals and drinks. The forest has a track down to the Yarra

  • Daph Aust

One of my favourite places to visit with the kids or interstate visitors located east of Melbourne. The forest is also known as Sherwood Forest a short 10 minute drive out of the township of Warburton. The densely planted Californian

  • Barkha

Can I just say that this place is a gem for road trippers. Just a short drive from melbourne, the redwood forest takes you to a whole new atmosphere. Great place to play hide and seek or just sit by the water and read a book.

  • Sajid Pervez

Our favourite spot in the beautiful Warburton valley. First time visitor will simply be left in awe looking at these tall trees and feeling the unique smell of the redwood. Be careful with kids, as they warn about snakes.

  • Santosh Khengar

Well organised trees planted many decades ago have become now unreal and looks beautiful. The Dinosaur nests are amazing. Short walk around.. Limited parking space. Great picnic spot. Good place to play hide and seek

  • Mark Eaton

Peaceful. Natural. Relaxing. My wife and I went late Autumn and we're taken away by its beauty. The redwood trees were planted in rows and have grown to stunning heights. Great for either a family or romantic walk.

  • Salman Shami

Incredibly busy with no parking. Full of noisy people. Dusty access road was unsuitable for cars and covered them in a thick layer of dust. Couldn't see the forest for the people. The trees were beautiful.

  • Raeleen Donovan

This place is beautiful a place you can just breathe, the stillnes and silence is calming. These magnificent beauties stand tall. Easy path to walk through, plenty of parking. The nests where interesting.

  • Xiaoli Jiang

We drove there and would like to see the remarkable redwood trees, but the road is closed because of the maintenance of the bridge. We felt a little bit regret. We are not sure when the bridge is opened.

  • G Lee

Gorgeous part of the world. It gets crowded but you can still find a little corner of your own to enjoy the tranquility and beauty. There's a food truck but unsure if they're there all the time.

  • Vesna Novakovic

This is really beautiful. There are a lot of visitors. There are no toilets. They do have a coffee food truck. However inside the forest it's quiet and serene. Would be amazing at night too.

  • Yuan Lin

My family went there last Friday. The redwood trees were very tall and straight. The water of the Cement Creek was very clean. The scenery was magnificent. Definitely a great place to visit.

  • Fiona Walker

Such a pretty place, well worth the trip. You become part of the Forest. Also a beautiful walk at the back along the creek. Even OK to do on a very hot day. Road in a bit rough though.

  • Kylie S

The road in is absolutely shocking condition, really big deep potholes past the bridge, so go carefully. The redwoods are fun to explore, and cement Creek is great for a paddle.

  • Nebojsa Kovacevic

Absolutely beautiful place to visit. Amazing views. Not for low sports cars. No toilet. Very large picnic area.
Picnic area
Very large picnic area.

Wonderfully peaceful experience- these trees live 200 years and were planted 1930 so they are massive but technically only samplings - you will love it.

  • Mountain Hiker

Passed through Warburton. Electronic sign board along road states 'closed'. Looks like the bridge is still under repair/construction.

  • Madan M

Very good place for a small walk and to take pictures, can see tall trees all around the place. There is enough parking space

  • Sylvester Singarayer

A hidden jem. Huge tall trees are majestic to look at. Huge circles made out of stacked sticks (no idea who did them).

  • Poggo Goose

Just breathtaking. Wander through the amazing trees to the bottom of the hill near the creek and absorb it all.

  • Gayan Rupasinghe

Nice and Calm place. Mobile cafe at the car park and it had hot coffee and chips. Yummy
