Was told to attend by 111 following severe chest and back pain, and radiating down my arm, combined with an AUDIBLE heart-beat. As in, you can hear my heart beat from outside my chest. Arrived and swiftly checked in. Very old and run down, but fine. Spoke to the triage nurse, showed her the sound, and she quickly moved me through to the “next level” of A&E. To preface - I have quite a long and complex medical history. I am no stranger to emergency departments. I have endless patience and respect in A&E and will wait. As others have mentioned, drips are being given, medication dispensed, and very private, sensitive conversations are being conducted by staff with patients in the middle of the waiting room. An hour and a half passes and no one has seen me. Many people have gone in and come out, and no one has acknowledged me. My pain medication is wearing off rapidly and breathing is beginning to cause me extreme pain again. I walk to the nurse station, get completely ignored by 5-10 nurses who are literally just having a chat. I politely say “excuse me” to two nurses walking down the corridor chatting and get ignored. When I finally get someone’s attention, I explained that it was hurting to breathe and could I please get some pain killers. They ask my name and tell me to sit down. Over half an hour passes. I am in extreme pain with tears in my eyes. I go back and excuse myself again to explain it had been half an hour and I had been waiting for over two hours. Turns out they messed up my paperwork, and despite announcing myself 45 minutes prior to ask for pain medicine… no one noticed. I am marched back (in tears from the pain at this point) to the first reception desk by one of the male medical staff (his photo is in the other person’s review) - who proceeds to make jokes about my surname. They tried to get me to do the entire process again. From scratch. After two and a half hours. I am crying at this point from pain and stress and frustration. I am ushered to the second waiting room. The same male practitioner calls me in, conducts one of the most painful blood draws I have experienced (and I have had hundreds), and proceeds to ask invasive, personal questions that had nothing to do with my healthcare in a closed off room alone with me. The kind, respectful male Australian nurse who took my ECG was the only positive experience. When I finally saw the doctor (Vasundhara Talwar) five hours after arriving, she led me in and made me feel like a naughty child who was wasting people’s time. She told me my test results were normal and I pushed back saying, fine, but you can audibly hear my heart beat. She told me that she wasn’t disputing that I was “injured” but that A&E was for life threatening emergencies. She was extremely condescending, closed minded, and had clearly made a judgement based on number on a piece of paper, yet couldn’t actually tell me why you can HEAR my heart beat. She did not inspect me, and instead told me that chiropractors and osteopaths are “quacks”, and that I get acupuncture at my own peril and these are the consequences. I asked for an echocardiogram and she told me she was the head of the department and no one would give me an echocardiogram, and that I could ask my gp for one. I asked her for potential causes of the noise, and pain, pressure, and palpitations and she told me that (with no evidence) despite the chest x-ray, I must have sustained an injury through chiropractic treatment and admonished me like I was a child telling me that she “would never let someone poke her with needles”. I asked what alternative option could be for the noise and she said I was “young and healthy”, so I’m fine. When I explained my medical history she told me that hemiplegic migraines aren’t serious, they’re “just migraines”. I pushed back as they are serious and you can die from them, she said “yes but only 10% of people die from them”…. I am speechless. Who gave these people their medical licenses?! And they have the audacity to call the osteopaths and chiropractors the quacks….

Let me summarize you our 3 hours under 3 minutes, so you know what to expect if you visit here. And maybe, the hospital management can learn from the chain of issues. We are not living under a rock so we were prepared to NHS and long waiting times. But the real problem is beyond that; it is the ambiguity, a system that lost the human touch in the whole process. After a week living with flu, my wife got worse and started to develop a wheezing lung, with shortness of breath. We are a family who normally tend to wait, but this time - it really became a “okay, we need to see a doctor now”. We called the hospital first. Yes, she wasn’t good, but still not too extreme that we could wait over the bank holiday to have more alternatives in daytime. First on the line, a very rude call operator. A polite opening from us and a simple question (how long is the waiting time)- turns into a frustrating conversation. He did not even let us talk, continuously interrupted, rejected to answer the question and held a blaming tone: “if she is unwell why are you not bringing her”. I honestly think an ordinary person would have a much better chat - quite shocked to get this from a professional who is trained (I hope) to do this. Whatever, we hang up, and decide to leave home (bad decision, if we knew what we’d go through). We check in and get told to wait. 20 minutes, a lady calls and gets her blood pressure and temperature. She adds “nothing to worry, you have a flu, I have one too”. Okay, that doesn’t make us feel better, but fine. We are told to wait again. Another 20 mins or so, someone else calls us in. She listens to her complaints for 30 seconds, gets us to another room full of patients, asking to wait. The whole thing feels like a game; we are level 3 now. We observe nurses bringing medicines, patients coughing without masks (and not covering their mouths), nurses hanging serums to people right there in the waiting space. You feel like you will get worse by just being there. More than an hour passes; a guy brings a wrist band with her name on and leaves. No screens, no numbers, no clue what to expect or when we will be called. There are people coming in to the waiting room after us and get called in earlier than us. You just constantly ask yourself “what’s going on???”. I decide to find a nurse and ask a rough idea how long we should wait for, or if our name is even on the list. And she says “oh, current waiting time is 5 hours”. I mean… You can imagine how we felt at that moment… 3 hours for absolute nothing. She would be better off staying home, and we would not add congestion to this system if that call operator, or receptionist, or nurse #1, or nurse #2, or nurse #3 - just someone gave us the slightest idea of what to expect. Or just a simple check and medicine prescription. Rather the whole 3 hours felt like an endless chain, and no idea how long it would further take. Of course we called a cab and left for home. Never, ever again.

I came to A&E with my very sick, elderly mother at 21.30. We knew there'd be considerable waiting times but didn't expect just how bad the situation would be This is a long read, but it's worth reading. Everything started well. Initial assessment (blood pressure/temp) was almost immediate and she was told she'd soon be seen by a doctor She then had her blood taken about 30 minutes later. Things went downhill from here. About 2.5 hours passed, and nobody saw her. There were just TWO other people in the room. No communication from staff, no checks to make sure she's ok - nothing. Eventually she saw a doctor, who promised her an injection. She repeatedly told the doctor that medicine in the injection did not help her AT ALL when she took it in tablet form, but he gave it to her anyway. She had to wait another agonizing 1h+ for this, rather than administering it asap. The medicine had zero effect, despite my mum's protestations. They also did a CT scan for her head - although this was about 6 hours after we came in. However, I'm still glad they did this. Still in an extremely bad state and with 0 signs of improvement, they sent my mum home. We left around 5am, over **7 hours** since our arrival. She left with the exact same symptoms and state as when she came in The waiting room was also a sad state of affairs. The key things to mention: - People there were visibly not in a good state. However, nurses rarely checked up on patients, despite walking around the ward and idly chatting in the adjacent room. About 3 of them. Just no real signs of caring and attention, to people who really need it. - One nurse (Jamaican i think), was very RUDE to other sick patients, shouting at them quite aggressively when they didn't hear her (they were elderly) - There is very little privacy. In the consultation room at the beginning, the doors are open, and so you can hear the conversations of others with the doctor The same is true for the main A&E room, where you can hear almost everything - The nurse at some point went to other people in the main waiting room to give them medicine, seemed a bit strange but maybe that's normal - The receptionist I called before arriving was EXTREMELY RUDE, shouting on the phone when I asked him how long it would take to be seen. Very dismissive. On shift March 4th Saturday night. My mum was very unwell, and if she had been critical then I'm not sure waiting for 6 hours would have ended well, at all. I sympathise with people who are very ill and need to wait for so long; it's extremely dangerous If you chose to go here, I hope you have a more positive experience. The NHS is not free like everyone says – we pay (high) taxes for it. It should provide a better service and more funding needs to be directed toward it to ensure better staffing. I sympathize with the docs, and really hope this review is taken seriously. It could save a life. -

I have attended St Mary's hospital and I was contacted by the Admission Department at Charing X with the date and details of my surgery. Carly was extremely kind from the get go and she handled a difficult conversation with avery emotional and very fragile me. She was supposed to give me the date and hung up the phone but she stayed on the line and offered support and comfort to a stranger she never met in her life. She has been at the end of the phone since and has arranged for the most supportive, caring, kind possible experience, including working with the Surgeon and the Wards to find me a bed to stay overnight because I don't have anyone to look after me in the aftermath of the operation. She took it upon herself to amend dates and times and put in motion the Department.She arranged for my assessments, phone consultations and introduced me to Monday who's following in Carly's footsteps has been in contact to arrange a suitable location for me to be admitted. I called PALS and expressed all my gratitude for what Carly did, she initiated a journey into one of the most underrated Services in this Country, mainly run by people who hopefully gets appreciated for taking care of us, no matter what.I have been harsh with the NHS when they failed me and I am fair in praising and ranting both. We are all taking things for granted and sometimes forget that that one individual who is just a voice over the phone can make the difference to our lives choosing to be kind.Despite Staff shortages, sickness, person problems, frustration and a good deal of indifference Hospitals are trying to do their best with what they are given.Which sometimes isn't very much at all. I have now been redirected to St Mary's so I will not have the privilege to meet the Admission Department Team (although I think I might interfere with Fate for once and change this) but I have been humbled by the support network they created. I have always believed that you get what you give and that some people are in their profession for a high purpose. You should always be kind to strangers, they might be Angels in disguise ❤️❤️❤️

I had a neurology outpatient appointment in Charing Cross hospital outpatients and I was not satisfied with the service the receptionist delivered to me and the waiting area was too noisy for me because of a Charing Cross hospital receptionist. Additionally, I was not satisfied with the service delivered to me by the consultant neurologist. In relation to the neurologist, I politely set a boundary, but I was not remotely satisfied with her response and then she reneged on her promise to me. Secondly, she was officious towards me and, regarding her officiousness towards me, when I asserted myself, she responded to me in a disrespectful manner that offended me. Thirdly, the neurologist jumped to a conclusion about something, which upset and annoyed me; I also fear the same thing happening again. Fourthly, the neurologist was aware of some sensitive information about me and, in relation to this, twice she said things that upset and annoyed me. Fifthly, regarding my presenting condition, she confused and frustrated me in relation to something. Sixthly, she was encouraging me to do something that would not have been safe for me to do and this may have been done out of spite; I also wonder if her encouraging me to do something unsafe was related to her knowing I am a member of a marginalised and discriminated against minority group. Seventhly, (in a letter to my GP) the consultant neurologist/Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust were disrespectful towards me in relation to one of my main characteristics and I am wondering if the disrespect was done out of ignorance about members of a marginalised and discriminated against minority group. Eighthly, (in the aforementioned letter to my GP) the consultant neurologist stated that it was a pleasure for her to see me, but, frankly, it was sometimes less than a pleasure for me to see her. Finally, I am giving two stars because, in some respects, the neurologist delivered good service to me.

I had the pleasure to visit the Emergency Department on 07/10/22. I was sent there by my UK GP because of whatever reason, I assume them not having time for me on a Friday. Anyway, I went to the emergency department after phone consultation with my Austrian GP telling me I should seek in person medical help from my UK GP and my UK GP simply just sending me to the Emergency Department after a quick phone call. It took in total 3 hours in and out which I find being super-fast for a Friday afternoon, I expected to be there much longer to be honest! I was treated very friendly, was listened to, taken seriously, was even given food & drinks and was overall treated amazingly. I'm not a UK resident, I was just in London temporarily (couple of months) for a university course and actually have Austrian health care. I assumed that I would need to pay something upfront or at least sign something or give my insurance card or whatever. After the rigorous examination and prior to being sent home I was waiting for the bill. I was shocked to learn that indeed, the emergency department in the UK operates for free, no matter who is needing this service. The NHS is such an amazing institution and I'm flabbergasted by how poorly it is supported by the UK government! I totally understand all the NHS professionals being on strikes constantly and really hope there will be some changes very soon! Would be a pity to have US conditions in the UK in the future. All the best to all the staff of that hospital but mostly huge thanks and respect to the people that run the emergency department and the people I had the pleasure to be helped by last October. You made a somewhat frightening experience so pleasant; I will forever be grateful.

Was taken to Charing Cross by ambulance with a severe 'abnormal' asthma attack during a hockey game. I'm not from London, I'm actually from West Sussex and we were only taken to Charring Cross as it was the closest to a tube station to get back home - from the minute me and my two team mates who accompanied me arrived, we were well taken care of. Jennifer (I think her name was) who was one of the nurses on duty was ever so kind and positive and friendly, explained exactly what was happening and addressed any concerns we had at all. My previous experiences in other hospitals have been very uncomfortable but the team at Charing Cross always asked permission before doing anything (especially with moving clothing and physical touch) and explained every stage of treatment to me and my friends, very professional and considerate. I have a hidden disability and it was very very reassuring that the lovely nurses let everyone who interacted with me know about my condition, it made an enormous difference. They asked me about my experiences with blood tests before putting in a cannula and did their very best to make it as painless and comfortable as possible, which was so kind after many poor experiences before and really helped stop my condition getting worse from anxiety. Working in a busy hospital in the busiest city in the UK must be incredibly challenging but they were all so friendly, kind, compassionate and patient and we couldn't be more grateful for their help. Best care I have *ever* received in the NHS and they really deserve so much recognition for such wonderful service and human compassion.

Palliative care for my beloved late father who initially went in for a chest infection, then he got better but was still kept in as he stopped eating, then we were given the worst news that he is at his last stage. I dnt understand how that suddenly happened. Then they stopped all his medication for his diabetes, thyroid, blood pressure etc. So no food and no medication. Yet he was still communicating with us and seemed fine. Days went passed and then he got weaker...but we still held onto hope. It seemed they didn't want him to get better, Offering nothing to help. How is an 83 year Old man meant to continue without food let alone his medication. My mother had to argue with them to get him on the saline drip. They allowed it. Then they came with several medications to help with his "breathing" or for the "secretion" and "pain". Now we asked them what they were for and they would get so rude about it saying it would help him! . Like they want to force the medication, which we rightfully questioned. But it seemed my father being in the room for 3 weeks was an inconvenience to them like they needed the bed/room for another patient which one of the nurses did actually admit. Lastly last thing was we all had to leave the room when they had to change his nappy understandably but my mother wanted to stay and they wouldn't allow that if that is not suspicious I don't know what is why can't my mother stay in the room what is it you guys are doing!!

I have been to this A&E multiple times, not by choice but due to my circumstances. And every single time my experience has been terrible. It’s understandable how wait times are long, but having receptionists with terrible attitudes, who chat amongs themselves while ignoring the patients, and doctors who look like they don’t want to treat anyone is completely unacceptable and quite frankly unprofessional. I understand it is a difficult job, and I understand a lot of nurses and doctors are overworked, I am a student myself studying healthcare. However, after taking an oath, and putting yourself with this responsibility, this is disgusting behaviour and is not an excuse to dismiss patients; it should not be tolerated, especially in A&E. If a patient is coming to you for help, You don’t leave them emotionally distressed, ignore them and tell them their agony or their pain is not an emergency. Waited for 4 hours, to be seen by the doctor for exactly 2 minutes. I was not examined by the doctor , he didn’t even look at what was wrong. He just spoke and said “just do this…”. I was brushed off. I have been experiencing this for a while, I’ve been in and out of this hospital and not once was there an outcome. At this point doctors want you to be completely hurt before they help you, rather than catching stuff early and even then, they’ll say it was too late. if you’re not physically broken, you’re seen as a “time-waster”. Terrible experience.

This hospital should honestly close. The worst experience and service I have ever witnessed. One would think that in a city like London one would be cared for adequately, but not if you come to this hospital. My girlfriend has come to the A&E here at least 10 times suffering from gallbladder stones needing surgery. In America or Italy it would be an immediate surgery because of the pain caused and damage it can cause to other organs if left untreated, but not here. At least 10 times she came, not including the 5 times before that it took them to diagnose her. They left her for a minimum of 5 hours each time just to speak to a doctor/nurse about symptoms and after she did would be sent home despite the gravity of the situation. The last time she went she had acute cholecystitis was given antibiotics that gave her adverse effects and sent home. The surgeon told her come back if you start experiencing jaundice. Disgusting. We then went to Chelsea and Westminister and they immediately admitted her in the hospital and told her she will get the surgery because of how grave her situation has become. If you don’t have the funds to properly care for patience nor the staff, it is better to close. People’s lives are at risk. This is no disrespect to the numerous staff that I am sure work tirelessly there, but the A&E services my girlfriend received were negligent and appalling.

No stars for Imperial Health Oncology service. It is extremely overrated. Consultants play god and do not give the patient any say in their health care. They flatly declined to provide treatment and placed end of life tag with NO opportunity for a 2nd opinion. The consultants, registrars and the doctors wielded their power over my loved one, always talk down to her and have dismissed her life as being worthless. Imperial Health Oncology is certainly NOT a world class service. In fact the Trust should be investigated. PALS at Charing Cross are not fit for purpose. I have made an official complaint and also wanted to post a review to Charing Cross Hospital website as I wanted to share our experiences with the public, however, as the hospital controls what is posted on the website, they declined to accept it as it was 'too serious' to be posted as a review. No surprises there! General public, please be very careful if your family or friends are admitted to any of the oncology wards at Charing Cross. I am literally begging Charing Cross Hospital to challenge anything I have said here. In fact I have put this mildly. Please challenge me! I wait to hear from you!

Lunatic Asylum! Only went in for dizzy spells and Mobility issues, luckily I didn’t end up getting sectioned and lost in the system! Avoid at all costs! Not fit for purpose! Bedlam! Just wanted to follow up my review! Doctors at Charing Cross gave my Steroids! I asked doctor would it make my hair fall out? He said no! I stupidly trusted him! Of course my hair fell out! My hair is ruined! I’m completely destroyed! I earn money from having nice hair! They clearly never cared about me! I’m now suffering from Severe Post Traumatic Stress which is why I was ill in the first place! Have the Steroids worked?? No all they have done is made me extremely sick, wee every 2 mins, develop a lump in my breast, I have marks all over like I’ve been cut with a knife! So depressed I’m not the same person! Is my balance or walking any better than when I last had a relapse without any drugs? No the Steriods have made it much worse! Taking Steroids is the biggest single mistake of my life! And trust me I’ve done some really stupid things! But Steroids?? Should be banned in my opinion!

My husband was taken in by ambulance due to intense pain in his left arm and shoulder that occured when he was travelling in the tube yesterday evening. He was in so much pain that he could hardly utter any words. He was seen by Dr Delphina Buba. He was given 5mg of morphine which didn't make any difference to him as he was still in considerable pain. He was kept in the hospital for nearly 12 hours with no difference to his pain. Dr Delphina told him that his pain wasn't life threatening. When my husband began to ask questions her reply was " Do I need to repeat myself again?" In a very rude tone. If you are going to talk with arrogance to your patients and have no empathy towards them then you should really rethink of working in another field. The last thing a vulnerable person in a lot of pain needs is for you to make them feel like an inconvenience and unimportant. He went to his GP this morning who was absolutely wonderful and gave him new medications and made an urgent physio appointment straight away. This was his first and last visit at this hospital.

Two incompetent doctors saw my pain when I was brought to Charing Cross Hospital on an Ambulance and admitted to A&E, Dr. Ross & Dr. Phill Dobbs, administered morphine after morphine which I indicated multiple times that doesn’t help me, it strips me off my body’s protection against pain and just leaves me with pain and I have bad allergic reaction to morphine!, and left me on the streets saying there is nothing else they can do and I had to go back home to my 2.5 year old daughter in the state that I was, pain and on morphine. I am still processing that trauma. I will have a call with a therapist tomorrow to sort of process it in a meaningful way and move on from it, but I just want to raise awareness of the incompetence of the people working at this establishment. Luckily I was admitted by a private A&E and currently being treated for Neurological Lyme’s Disease, Trigeminal Neurologia and C6/7 Stenosis. Dr Ross and Dr Phill Dobbs dismissed me like I was nothing and my pain was nothing.

I came to A&E for my reasons. The waiting queue at night is very long and that’s a warning. Come in the morning around 10:00 AM. Anyway, I was kind of hungry so I got some crisps from the vending machine, then bought hot chocolate. DAMN. Hot chocolate was less than a quarter of a takeaway cup! I payed £2 for that!!! Outrageous. Edit 2: Read some other reviews and saw one that shocked me to my core. It was about 2 doctors wildly mistreating a ‘vulnerable’ patient, forcing them out of their will and being absolutely inhuman to them. I hope and pray that whoever that was, got out of there safely! An investigation should be brought to this place and surprise inspections should be taken! Cannot believe this. I will compare some of these doctors to animals. It’s like wild hyenas hunting/taunting their prey. What a shame to the hospital. Ripping people of their trust to health professionals. I hope that TRAINEE DOCTOR AND HEAD NURSE get into lawsuit for abuse!!!

My elderly mother was taken in in the early hours of 13th June as all my local hospitals in Brent were extremely busy. (From wembley) Obviously not easy having to cope with demand & there was a long wait for the ambulance. But the care she received from the paramedics, the nurses and junior doctor on duty (Dr P) was faultless. Diagnosis and prognosis was quick & comprehensive & offer of after care was a big plus. I was kept updated having had to leave her for a while. As an aside. Paramedics, nurses & junior docs fully deserve any big pay rises & T&Cs improved. As the usual 1st line of care in an essential service, under trying (short staffing) conditions it would be fully justified. I would wager, none of the politicians have themselves or their families in these services & havent done a month (a day?) In their shoes. Just a lack of will on governments part to do much about it.

Worst experience ever. I will actually be suing the doctor for negligence. Her name is: Buba Delphina. She shouted my name and didn’t bother to come and actually get me or to send one of the nurse (a lot of the patients there were in a lot of pain & shouting like a market trader isn’t the best for them). Before even asking me what’s wrong, she had decided that my issue was not important. She then barked at me to leave the infirmary and to see a “gynocologist”. I told her I’m in so much pain, and she shrugged her shoulders. When I realised that she wasn’t listening to Me I started to interrupt her to get atleast one word in. She then said “don’t interrupt me again” like she was my mum. She then asked the nurse to “witness” the conversation because apparently I was interrupting her. I went home that night, in pain and bleeding from my uretha, with fever.

GP told me to ring Charing Cross to make an appointment for xRay for my very ill 90 year old mother . Rang number given and was told by an automated voice that I was in a queue & would be answered in 11 minutes - this automated voice kept repeating for 25 minutes that I would be answered in 11 minutes- After 25 minutes the automated voice said “Sorry but there are no agents to answer your call “ & promptly disconnected the call !!! Really shabby ,chaotic management & I can only pity the elderly who do not have the energy to fight their corner & get appropriate, much needed medical intervention . In the end I rang PALS who intervened & was able to get an appointment but shocking system at call handling level. Complain ! Complain ! Complain! Management need to manage & staff in call handling departments need to be aware of their failings .

Is already hard to be in a hospital.. but this time I don’t have words to describe how awful was my experience at this place (can’t even call it hospital) I’ve been eating for more than, read carefully- 15h. And yet have the diagnostic as they have to consult a external specialist. The lack of communication and empathy was unbelievable.. thousand of pounds a year taking God knows what they do with it. The most disappointing and awful experience in a hospital ever.. the NHS but in particular this hospital has lost my faith. Extremely disappointed with the poor service, the waiting time (keep in mind I was on the emergency service A&E) from the Doctors, the nurses and the stuff in general.. please if you can avoid to come here do it. It will safe your time and health..

My husband saw doctor Matthew (sorry can’t remember surname) an ENT doctor yesterday in outpatients. My husband is currently a patient in another hospital who are having trouble removing his tracheotomy tubes. Matthew did it in a couple of minutes but had to put them back as my husband had to be monitored overnight. However, he changed the tubes and removed all the unnecessary ones. He then telephoned the doctor at the other hospital and wrote a letter how to do this procedure This morning my husband’s tracheotomy was removed and he is well. I cannot praise Matthew high enough, a credit to his profession. He didn’t rush us, listened to our questions and took the time to explain the procedure to another doctor. 10/10 service. Would definitely recommend him

This site is not wheelchair accessible at all. At least six times I followed signs and either got somewhere that was not accessible and was told by a member of staff “you have to go a different way” that was not sign posted at all or I would get to a ramp that was blocked by construction sandbags (back of the building) or stuck outside A&E because one of the doors is broken and closed meaning I could not actually get into A&E but had to ask a passer-by for assistance. There was even a sign on the door to acknowledge it was broken but I could not have entered by myself so way leave it shut?This was on both entering and exiting. I was completely unable to navigate this site independently as a wheelchair user and will refuse all future appointments here.

Such unprofessional and rude doctors and staff. My partner has been left at Emergency for 4 hours waiting in pain. No one did come to see him and yet they open the door for me and told me to f***off from there. My partner was in life threatening condition. They gave him paracetamol and sent him back home. Next day we had to come back. My partner almost passed away. After 3 days of battle with them he was finally taken to the hospital where he was again left in pain for 5 hours begging for some pain killers. When I called to complain that time he has been given morphine. Avoid this place if you can. I will definitely take next step against this hospital,doctor who has been so irresponsible and Emergency department. The worst experience ever.

Astonishing lack of empathy from, in particular, the reception staff in the A&E department l, when it is needed the most. Fell forward at speed and my teeth went through my lip, pharmacist said it was infected and urged me to go to the hospital. Which I wanted to avoid specifically because my experiences at this hospital have never been good. I was in a really bad way and had been waiting at a far busier hospital 5 hours previous. They lost the appointment made by 111 twice and couldn't care less. I know they're busy but there is no excuse for the lack of care or empathy shown in this setting. Tl;DR Complete lack of care, complete lack of empathy, A & E is cramped and hygiene levels could be better.

Best hospital! I did my injection due to severe lower back pain two days ago . They were so friendly and polite. Everyone trying to do their best to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. My fiancee is under Charing Cross under the sleep clinic. They basically didn't bother to contact him on the phone number he provided them with and called the mobile which he told them not to. We have very bad reception in the house were in. They couldn't get through and referred him back to his GP. He is very ill with his breathing at night. I just watched him stop breathing 8 times before before gasping for breath. This hospital is going to kill him if they don't pull their finger out of their bum and help him. I'm quite honestly sick of the NHS right now. It isn't fit for purpose. But I can understand why this hospital has SUCH bad reviews.

I would give it zero stars if I could! To the Dermatology Dep: I had an urgent referral to be seen in 2 weeks to check if a lesion on my skin was skin cancer. I was never seen by a Doctor and never had an appointment either. I saw a photographer that took a photo of my lesion. Two weeks later received a letter at home saying that the photo was not good enough for diagnose and they had no results for me. Absolutely Unacceptable! Went to another Doctor in a different Hospital that saw me and did a proper diagnoses. To the HORRIBLE Doctors of this Hospital, Dermatology Dep: you shouldn't be allowed to be called Doctors! You belong in Jail!!!

While visiting London, my daughter broke her foot on a Sunday evening and even if this is not a children hospital, he helped us and treated her amazingly. The procedure until you get to the doctor is completely ridiculous though.. you gotta talk to the receptionist and then to a nurse and then she sends you to see the doctor - where you lose valuable time and suffer for no reason. I guess this is an NHS issue though, which doesn’t mean that this hospital and its staff, is any less amazing. My daughter and I thank you doctor Mac Greetings from Greece.

I was bought to A&E by ambulance, I was very very unwell. I was cared for in resus for the night! They were amazing. I was admitted to Riverside Ward & was taken care of to the highest standard, I had Sepsis & Acute Colecystutits following on from a LRCP at Chelsea & Westminster. I honestly thought I was going to die. I truly believe CX saved my life. I would like to mention 2 nurses in particular- James & Tijana who are dedicated & took such good care of me. I have been to this hospital, the service was fine but I have been through a weird situation because the lady doctor from orthopedic department she does not use gloves at all during physical check ups of foot and moreover, she made me very uncomfortable when she was putting my partner ' s foot in her lap although it touched her breasts. I felt shameful. At least you should use some tables or something on which you can examine the patient. This is such a disgusting thing I have ever ever seen. If anyone will go for foot check ups please be careful with this weird situation.

If I could give no stars, I would: in the course of my Charing Cross Hospital outpatient appointment with a white consultant neurologist, she really frightened and really confused me, but I did absolutely nothing to deserve her really frightening and really confusing me. I am also wondering if she was attempting to intimidate and silence me. Additionally, regarding the neurologist's aforementioned behaviour towards me, I did raise the matter with her, but I am not convinced that her response to me was truthful. Had a really lovely Porter helping me. I, however had a horrible experience trying to find where I was supposed to go, everyone kept sending me to the wrong place, saying it’s not what they deal with and they can’t do anything to help. I am a carer for an elderly lady with dementia who I had taken to get a blood test, I was told to leave the room even tho I had a visible exemption badge on. I then pointed at it and said I am exempt and they still made me leave. I feel very embarrassed and the lady I care for wanted me to come with her.

I never seen anything like it.! How long for you have to wait before you can see a doctor. Your nursing team, attention to a patient’s well being both medically and nutritionally are unparalleled. Every time that I have to go to A&E at this hospital is the same situation. They don’t have any staff and the doctors are taking only one patient every 2 hours. Some of the staff are only walking around or eating during they are working. It is really unprofessional and the worst part is that the patients have to wait for hours with pain. I do not know what it is the exact problem but always it is the same story. Too many people doing their jobs with really poor quality or lack of staff. 100% not recommend it.

Went to A&E for a work incident, was seen in about 30 minutes (it was a superficial bite mark from a vulnerable person I work with) and the lady was lovely, although if you're called once and they don't see you get up in 10 seconds they're onto the next person! To be fair the staff are helpful although it's hard to tell who's who because a lot of people are wearing badges which I don't usually see in other hospitals. Due to the busy-ness, don't expect a comprehensive service, but do be kind to the staff.

Terrible experience at the A&E. Please don't go there. I would rather die than go to CXH. Nearly 8.5 hours at THE A&E. Still waiting while writing this bad review. I can not put my anger into words. It felt like being in a 4th world country hospital or a war zone hospital with chaotic scenes. I am overwhelmed at the care I’m receiving at Charing Cross. Every single health care professional in Breast services has been wonderful, from Radiologists, my surgical team, anaesthetists, theatre staff, doctors, nurses from Riverside ward, breast care nurses to oncologists. They include and support me in all the decisions I make. I get the warmest of welcomes at the foyer, it’s a friendly hospital. I’m so happy with the exemplary care and cannot thank them enough for their kindness.

Rude receptionist at A&E called Ursula. Then rude and not thorough GP afterwards who did not take my pain seriously.He made me feel stupid and ridiculous when I asked if my condition can be related to a heart issue, he literally laughed at me and embarrassed me. As a patient I have the right to ask questions about my concerns and his response was VERY unprofessional.I understand they are under pressure, but they should not take it out on patients in pain! Great, efficient service with the breast clinic. I went in for a check up (everything turned out to be fine, and thanks NHS for the fast reassuring service) and was done 35 minutes after my scheduled appointment - this included three different checks with three different people. Special shout out to Josette (hope I got the spelling right) who made a procedure that is awkward and unpleasant by nature a lot better, all the staff was kind and efficient though.

Nothing wrong with support staff, consultants or surgeons. This review is due to the slow and / or incompetent inpatient pharmacy. I was discharged and yet took 3 hours for them to dispense standard issue meds. Multiple phone calls from nurses and visits from family to chase it up, yet we were all continuously told 20 minutes every time. Ridiculous. A wait so long that what would be a 45 minute journey back home is now 1.5 hours due to hitting rush hour.

this hospital is so badly signposted. Coming out of the lift there is no simple map to help you find your way. There are endless corridors and none of them have simple sign over them telling you where you are going. At reception I was told to go to the first floor and take the corridor going south. Sorry I didn't bring a compass with me. I have severe fatigue disability and the walking was injurous and painful. those in charge should be ashamed.

I went in for a day surgery after a consultation with the same team that performed the operation. Everyone was the best professional there can be! So sweet and caring and professional. They explained every step, made sure I was OK and understood, respected my privacy, did a stellar job with the surgery and I was fed, offered a tea and sent on my way after only a few hours. Lovely staff and a great experience overall. It was through the NHS!

I recently received an ENT procedure at Charing Cross under Dr Zaid Awad who was absolutely phenomenal! The whole team were so kind a patient and listened to everything I had to say, they were so kind and understanding as I have a health anxiety, the kindest I was given and reassurance was second to none along with all the nurses in the ward I can not thank them enough! I called to reschedule my appointment and spoke to a very nice person. Polite and helpful. A lot of rude patients must phone up complaining to them as their lines can be busy. If you ever going to deal with A&E be prepared to wait about 9 to 10h just to speak to a doctor. I had breathing problem and I called the ambulance around 4pm, and I was here at 5pm, my blood samples were taken. Up until now I am waiting to be seen or speak to a doctor. My partner is severely brain damaged and has ended up in many London Hospitals in the last 29years. Most of the time I have dreaded the Hospitals. Mainly the attitude of the nurses. Charing Cross has been the best hospital and the nursing staff on South 6 has been the most wonderful nurses l have met. Not only are they caring to my partner but also very kind towards me.

The oriental nurses and carers are excellent but the black ones don't seem to have the proper knowledge, and are not friendly at all, nevertheless they are very proud of themselves and walk around like they own the hospital. This is an honest review. I was admitted for accute bleeding. Although I was in hospital for 11 days. The doctors were able to fully resolve my issue, despite the long time it took. The only down side was the lack of qualifications a lot of the ward nurses have, showing their clear lack of nursing skills.

This hospital is showing its age, it's rather dirty in a lot of areas, and the interior looks very tired and worn, very bad condition in some areas. Staff were not to friendly, confusing where to go and felt like you were being punished by staff acting rude to us just because we were to the wrong area.

As always Charing Cross Hospital provided an excellent service. I went to A&E as I had something lodged under my fingernail which was causing pain. I was seen by a nurse, had an XRay taken and then had the offending matter removed by a Doctor. They were very thorough and professional. Thank you :)
