Cheers has been a major pit stop for many of us over the years and through it’s temporary evolution of the 80 Proof spinoff, we rediscovered a great underground venue space that hosts a lineup of entertainment from stand up comedy to hip hop crew dance-offs to corporate functions. So it’s nice that it goes back to basics with what we loved most about it - Sport, Entertainment and Hearty food. Currently there is a streak of Asian in some of the dishes which makes sense, but all our old faves are still there. THE HAWKER PLATE is a mixed grill of pork belly slices and southern fried chicken. Its a great example of how it’s menu has streaks of Asian influence through it, as it shares the board with Thai/Malaysian street style peanut sauced Satay Chicken sticks - a welcome addition. THE VERMICELLI NOODLE SALAD takes you Vietname with the crunch from the bean sprouts and kick of slight chill and coriander with battered sliced fish through it! Mate had the NY BURGER: (Quote) "I went the double bacon cheeseburger and wasn't dissapointed. Not my preferred cheddar, prefer the American, but the beef and bacon were good. Bun was soft. Again, my dislike of sweet caramelised onions on a beef burger was apparent to me. Chips although basic were well seasoned.” - I love caramelized onion so this burger would have been up my alley, but I was very pleased with my choice! Lucky enough to be served by the manager himself, Mark and very personable character with superfast delivery times from the (I peered in) small kitchen! It’s like magic I tell ya!!! This isn’t just for NRL, EPL, UFC fans as there’s a great mix of sports lovers, carefree and corporates that come through setting a really relaxed and funky vibe to the place!
I have been going to Cheers since around 2005, watching Premier League, League Cup, FA Cup and Champions League games here. I've had some classic nights in here. It had been a few years before Covid since I visited, and recently a mate and I decided to pop down for the 2023 FA Cup final. The main area with the large screen has now been replaced due to refurbishments to accommodate a "VIP Lounge" (pokies), with multiple screens placed around the downstairs area. Unfortunately, this creates a horrible, cramped, claustrophobic viewing experience for the big games. Getting to the bar is challenging, and finding a viewing space to watch the match can be tough. Multiple screens around the venue from every angle have replaced the older configuration of having a giant screen at the front of the pub. The result is patrons watching the same game from different directions, creating a weird vibe for watching football with no single focal point. Smoking is present throughout the pokies area, which is unpleasant and wafts into the back bar area downstairs. Over $30 for two pints of Four Pines Pale Ale seemed expensive but that's Sydney now. The owners have decided that the pokie revenue from the floor space is more important than a decent match-watching experience. However, by the looks of the crowd for the FA Cup, this isn't affecting attendance. I definitely won't be back in its current configuration. A shame.

I was two times there, the first time with my school and the second one with my friends… I enjoyed it the first one on the lower level meeting people of another countries, but the second one the admin and security guy comes so rude: I saw one “drink” alone in one table, so obviously I do take it cause I thought was a payed drink, well, it doesn’t was… but in my way of being I thing that if you leave your drink and go out, that drink is free for another or the pub too.. the think is I take a “decoration drink” and the small kind admin comes so angry and mindless saying to me that I’m a thief… and the secure man said to me “you need to go and rest right now” at the beginning, cause later that same guy start to pushing me when I was going out but just stop to wait to my friend… the place is good but the admin guy is so mindless and the security guy just a guy who follow orders without thinking… Im coming back again only cause my school have events there, but never by myself, there are better places than there The admin needs to improve himself… totally ashamed about him.

I visited here on the weekend for the first time since the renovations had been completed. The Good: the food is really good and you get a good portion for the price. Our table had a variety of food including the porterhouse steak, parmi and chicken salad and all was great The Not So Good: It's regressed as a space for watching big events and live sport. The tvs on the wall are small, and the one big tv is shoved in a corner and in the walkway to the VIP lounge so no one can stand and watch it. The downstairs area is half obstructed by the overhanging top level. The Terrible: A friend of ours was turned away on a Sunday afternoon by the bouncers for wearing closed sandals (was wearing a silk collared shirt and nice chinos). Not long after they then let in two young blonde girls who were wearing closed sandals. I thought we left behind this kind of behaviour when the lockout laws were decreased.

My first time coming here. The staff were rude and unwelcoming, always staring at you and just basically dismissive. The food was cold when we got it and the drinks were so expensive compared to other pubs and wasn’t even that good (used low grade alcohols). The bartenders seemed all over the place no routine. Although, this one security guard was the worst; no professionalism, very abusive behaviour and language, very angry (seemed like he was trying to hold back from hitting you when he talked to you) when dealing with customers. Got physical before communicating showing he didn’t know how to properly deal with a situation in a professional manner. Honestly, the atmosphere just felt stuffy and like a trap house. The staff members just didn’t seem like they cared or wanted to provide good customer service. Would definitely not go here again.

Really cool sports bar with large food selection, decent draft beers, a full bar, and lots of space. They have an inside area with an upstairs so you have plenty of room with friends. They have a small outside area if you want some fresh air, big tvs, and very friendly staff. It's our first time in Australia and this place was a great start.

Vennesa and Jenny are the worst bartenders in Sydney city please I beg you not to come and drink here as the drinks are watered down and the service is absolutely terrible!! Avoid this pub at all costs please take my advice you will not enjoy it Aiyaad was an absolute mean security guard and would not let my mother have a drink on her birthday om arrival to the pub. I'm absolutely disgusted and pray you never have to experience the degeneracy that it's the cheers hotel
I got charged 18.50 for one Vodka & Redbull. Toilets were blocked and people were puking inside. Crazy experience. I have had good times at Cheers bar but the quality of food and drinks have gone downhill. I had a drink with one of the staff after the game and she told me that the pay is very low and managers are not inclusive There was no leadership and no management from the team when it was busy. Only focussed on making money. Cheers, you lost your regular customer
Finished work at 2am (work in a bar) and went there to meet my boyfriend and his friends and the security told me I'm "too drunk"?? Even though I had 0 drinks. Not only the security guard but also the manager were extremely rude. What a joke for people that have RSAs like the rest of us. Clearly abuse of power. Edit: is that how you instruct your security guards to deny entrance? By embarrassing and humilating the person in front of everyone? Interesting strategy
Not a really good selection of beers on tap and have about 30 TVs nearly all playing the NRL which was a white wash game, 2 tvs showing horses/dogs, no TVs showing what ones are coming up and we got 1 small tv changed to watch AFL. Not so much a sports bar as a NRL bar. Girl behind the bar didn't know what AFL was. Wouldn't go back

In our party of 10, 3 people had their order wrong. Also, the vegetarian meal options are already very limited (Margherita pizza or veggie burger), and they had run out of the veggie burger. Was offered to have the nachoes made vegetarian instead with beans instead of meat. I was expecting kidney beans, or black beans or something but it was green beans and carrots??
The place were cozy, great ambiance, a bit intense on their sound system but was a good one though. We ordered Rump steak Medium rare and Chicken wings in buffalo sauce however it came a bit longer than expected although it was not so busy! The steak served medium well though but the wings was perfectly fine. Good place to visit and we’ll definitely come back.
Management needs to take more action on sick employees. You have sick employees working, taking orders, serving drinks and food all whilst continuously coughing. No masks worn, just coughing in the open and directly in their hands, then serve you drinks. At the very least, have them wear a mask so they're not spreading their sickness to everyone else.
Iv been going to cheers for 10 years best barstaff in Sydney, they're like a family and all very friendly, definitely best bar to go watch all sport, football, nrl and the UFC

Gourmet food at very affordable prices. (Wednesday is THE day for Steaks!). Immaculately clean. 5 Star service from the gorgeous Thai ladies. (if you're "on the wagon" there's a very professional coffee machine with Australia's lowest prices: $3.90(!). Highly Recommended, both day and night.

Best value meals in the city. $12 meal specials Monday to Thursday. Excellent value and fantastic quality. Delicious grilled baramundi for $12, unbeatable value in the city. Also there is a great selection of other meals of equal good quality and value. The staff are friendly and for some unkown reason even the beer tastes better at Cheers.
Went there last week for my pub crawl after the renovations it looks so much nicer, I like the gaming room area the most. I went to get drinks at the bar so many staff there 3 behind the bar and 2 sitting and eating by the bar and talking to one of the staff. I used their bathroom once unisex nice and clean, we might go back there again.
The food here is disgusting!! Not even worth 1 star. The fish and chips was old and tasteless. My glass had floating scraps in it! and has dirty stains all inside the interior of the glass!! Nothing is washed properly here and the manager just said "thanks for letting me know" This place is putrid. I do not recommend to anyone!
Stood at the bar for a few minutes while 1 girl wiped glasses and the other just stood there reading something. A simple “be with you in a minute” would have been enough, but they’re too oblivious to what’s going on outside their little brain. Turned around and left.

Worst Bar ever. Racist ! Went to play snooker but the security didn’t allow us to get in!! He was rude to us saying no no. Never mentioned the reason. We thought it was closed though they said closes at 6 AM. People who came to after us was allowed there. Do not recommend to go
Ordered a Long Island iced tea which cost over $20 via card and it had 2 shots of vodka and a shot of a pre mixed Long Island iced tea bottle. BEYOND disappointed!! Should have had 5 different shots. You either need to train your staff or not skimp on overpriced cocktails.
This bar was ok.. but nothing special about it. The food was very average and the drinks were incredibly overpriced. I did however like how you could order your food/drinks using your phone instead of having to get up and order. Overall not bad but wouldn’t go back there.
Cheers Bar has a very rugged but cosy atmosphere. Staying true to their appearance, their Chicken Parmas are classic pub grub. Priced at under $20 each, theyre a good alternate way to fill up in the CBD. Freshly made and huge portions. You won't be disappointed!
I really like this bar, the staff are efficient, the Guinness is good and the food is too. The problem is for the last two nights a vaper has been in, smelling the place out stood by the entrance vaping. I hate the stench of them, don't think I'll be back.
When it's a 3 degree night in sydney and the security guard flatly refuses to close the front door after several patrons asked and he walks past smugly was spoken to by management and still refused . Super great times at the fave rugby bar :(
Will only let you in if you're watching what they deem the main game of the night. We were turned away (sober) after being advised the venue was at capacity before watching them let 6 other guys in. No problem with being selective about
Nice food and sports bar. Will be back. Low rating due to poor turnaround time (40 min) for food, no menus could be found, took 15 min and still could not find, so they just gave me options verbally, and could not access Wi-Fi for some
My friend has a prescription glasses which He didn't put on today. The security denied entry for all 5 of us judging his eyes. We haven't even had a single drop so far and he reckons we're too drunk. Need proper RSA holder security!!!
Thank you very much Mary, you are the most welcoming person that i ever found in the industry.! My friends and I had a great evening and it's more likely that we'll come back soon again. cv

Booked a seat requesting to watch F1 and they put us in a seat with a huge pole between us and the TV. Also bistro closes super early and very understaffed for no reason (upstairs bar closed when at full capacity)

Normally here was fine for bar area, but 'the Worst customer service' I ever had in VIP lounge. I went there 04/08 Friday night around 12am. The staff was super rude and also she didn't do her duty.
Outstanding sports bar in the heart of Sydney CBD. One of my favourite spots for a quiet lunch time beer. Food is great, i would argue they serve the best chicken parmigiana in the city.
Don't come here if you are an AFL fan, they will have a thousand TVs with rugby on and one small TV in the corner with AFL on, whilst the rugby commentary blares over the sound system
Great place to watch live sports while having one meal. Just don't try to get in with high visibility not allowed. The food was pretty standard pub food nice and a good serving. More
Don't go there. They water down all the drinks. Have been there for tens of times and the toilet never had soap. Dodgy business.

Heineken zero beer is very different to Heineken beer. I ordered a zero, they confirmed a zero and gave me a full strength Heineken. I'm not allowed alcohol so very disappointed ☹️
Great vibes. Have come here for the comedy show and sports bar upstairs on separate nights. The drinks are too expensive for the pub that it is! Nearly $15 for a pint of lashes!?

Thank you for showing the game. Only issue I had was your support for AB with posters but......Pumas sorted that out so ....just want to say your bar ladies are the best x
Nsw Liverpool supporters club Great place for something to eat or a cocktail The lady behind the bar from Roscommon is good for a chat. That's if she has a voice …
Visited on a Friday night. Reasonably priced drinks , good vibes and can watch the footy. Service could be better eg: wiping up a big spill. Bathroom was pretty dark.

Good food with reasonable price It has an old style english pub interior Not very busy during the week and not very loud music.

Excellent food especially the meat pie ❤ its a must try probably the best pie in sydney …
The atmosphere is awesome when sports event is happening but is too overcrowded sometimes.
