Stay Away Folks !!! This is a pathetic Restaurant that I have ever visited. The Food smells pretty Bad as they are using burnt Oil in the foods and my Mom (55 years Old) got Food poisoning. I was in SFO for a vacation and half of my vacation was ruined due to the Food that this hotel is Serving. First of all I feel they are not responsive to the Non-Chinese folks. We entered the hotel and noone welcomed or even Guided us. The hotel was empty though we entered at 12:45 PM which is a pure lunch time. There was just another table where 3 Guys were sitting and all the waitresses were standing and talking to those folks as he is a King or something. After 10 minutes a lady came to us with Menu card and left. We decided what to order in 2-3 minutes and was waiting for the lady to take our order but she came back after 18-20 minutes. By that time my parent were very hungry. The lady who came to take order was not good into English and hence I struggled for almost 10-15 minutes to make her understand what exactly we need. Then after 15 minutes we got the items that we ordered. By that time it was almost 01:30 PM. The Quantity was Good but the taste was horrible. As a cook I can clearly make out that the oil was burnt means used for some frying multiple times earlier. But as we were very hungry we had couple of Bites and then asked for the bill. The lady came and handed me a bill of almost 85 bucks. Which was too much They added some out of the box price and taxes that I have never understand. So I was not at all in a mood to Tip the attendant as the taste was horrible but I gave 90 Bucks where 85 was the Bill and 5 was the Tip though I know 5 dollar is not very good but 5 is any day better than 0 I think. Then the lady started scolding us with a horrible face as the tip was only 5 dollar and demanded a 15% o the entire bill atleast. I asked her why she have never mentioned it before we ordered and she started saying something in some other language may be Chinese. Then by that time I was completely tired and frustrated and hence I thought of throwing another 10 Bucks on the table and get out of the restaurant. Still she was not happy with the 15 bucks which was more than 15% of the total bill and she was shouting. But I didn't say anything and just escorted my family out of the restaurant. That day Evening my Mom had some stomach ache and when we met the doctor, he told it's a food poisoning and we understood the reason of it. So folks Please please please avoid going there if you are having any one with you less than 15 year old or more than 40 year old. Writing this review took me almost 30 minutes but I will be glad if I can stop at least 1 customer going there by reading this review.

This is one of those hidden gems that you want to find. It may not be as decorated as some of the other local places but this spot makes up for it in it's food and more than fair prices. If anything my family and i order a little too much. Every single item was freshly cooked. You can tell by the freshness of the crunch of the perfectly cooked broccoli and how tender and soft the pork in sweet and sour sauce was. This usually gets very hard and tough once it ages just for a little while. The WonTon soup was perfectly steaming hot with big chunks of meat filled noodles. The Egg rolls were also as fresh as can be. I can say the service was ok but nothing special which is fine. If you are visiting out of town for some good authentic fresh Chinese food at a price that won't break your wallet, this little spot will do it for you. Don't let the looks deceive you.

The worst restaurant experience I have had. The food was below average. I found a large box staple in a spring roll and my partner found several strands of hair in her food. After partially finishing my meal - because I couldn't go on any more - I noticed the kitchen door was open and the chefs were not wearing chef whites. I witnessed a member of the kitchen staff picking up food from the floor and putting it back on a plate. I also saw a waitress use green tea to wash a table instead of a proper detergent. The hand towel she used to 'clean' the table had seen much better days. IF I had seen this before my food I would have walked straight out. To conclude my experience I didn't leave a tip. After leaving, the waitress ran after us demanding a tip. Errrrr no.

I brought my family here for diner. The standard of service quality, if there is any standard here, surprised us. We spent half an hour to wait for our order. Two customers sitting next to us could not stand endless waiting and canceled their order. Waitress is not friendly and is not trained to handle the situation when order is delayed. Be careful of the oily floor, which could be slippery. Though the food is hot and large in portion, the taste of the food is below average. Given the price they charge their customers, I am sure one can find some better food around that area. It was a very bad experience and ruined our holiday moods. Please go to some other place for Chinese food.

If you haven't been to a Chinese style family restaurant, then come here. Food comes in huge portions perfect for big parties and guests. It can get super busy around CNY month so plan accordingly. Also if you're not used to loud environments, don't come here. There's always groups of families here yelling over each other so if you're used to noises and families bickering, this is your place. Also if you're not used to the authentic feel of a hole in a restaurant and with servers "yelling" at you and asking what you want, then it's going to be an experience for you. But come anyway. It's good. Food is cheap and you'll go home with a full belly.

  • MOncat

Sad to see that it lost it’s original dignity. It used to be one of my favorites in Chinatown. Now the food is not as good, the price also increased considerably. The eggplants clay pot which is one of the signature Cantonese dishes is below average, wanton soup is ok for the first bite, and then a funny stinky meat taste comes out, only the beef and radish stew is ok. And they include 18% tip automatically to the bill. I suggest people going to other places that are still standing.

I ate here last night and ordered the wonton soup (pork meat only), salt and pepper shrimp, and the combination clay pot. Wonton was a bit of a let down, but other two entrees were excellent, good flavor and portions. Service was a bit slow, enough though I was the only customer. Considering this is SF, I think you get excellent value for your money, but I don't agree with other comments about the cleanliness of the place. It's no worse or better than an average Olive Garden, though you could hear the staff chatting away in their corner. I would definitely come back again.

  • marty mcfly

Food was good and not expensive but.... I don't know why the staff was so unfriendly and inattentive. In general what I saw is that while the timing was busy, staff priorities were: chinese, other locals, tourist last. On detail: they gave us 1 menu for 2 people, all tables received courtesy tea but us, no sauces, no attention while waving hands to ask for those, they took forever to take the order, and bring the check. In general I think the staff was plain rude for no reason, also the same for a group of europeans 2 tables away. Not the most pleasant experience.

  • Almudena 208

The only reason I’m giving this restaurant 5 stars is because of the food and service, it was great in both food and service. But, the hygiene is really bad. As soon as you walk into the restaurant it stinks, the tables were sticky, silverware and plates were sticky and felt unclean. I decided to go to the bathroom and it was disgusting, it stinks and it is really dirty.

More or less this restaurant serves traditional homestyle and comfort food. I really like their pork patty steamed with duck eggs. Can't get enough of this dish except in Chinatown where the natives still patronize. Their Mongolian beef is popular as well as Chinese broccoli sautéed with beef. I also enjoy their Americana versions of chow mein, chow fun & fried rice. The service is great. There isn't much of an atmosphere but you didn't come here expecting to see the Golden Gate Bridge.

Thought and tried eating there. Horrible food. The restaurant it self was so smelly inside. The waitresses were not responsive. The worst Chinese food I ever had in my life. At the end the waiter who pretended to attend us became rude when I payed only 5 dollar as tip and forced me to pay 15 percent which was 12 dollars(nothing was mentioned earlier neither by her nor mentioned in the menu). That was too much and she started arguing with me in a nonsense voice. So I just suggest all non-Chinese folks at least to stay away from this restaurant.

  • Raymond Chenon

The outside with decolored photo doesn't do justice to this restaurant. I followed the good reviews. It was the only restaurant opened at 17h. Good value for the money. I ordered a beef and tofu. The tea was included. For all 8 dollars and tip included, I rounded up for 10 USD . It is such good value . The staff let me charged my phone but after 30 min I entered and barely finished, the staff wanted me out. And preparation of those dish take more expertise preparing a burger or sandwich charged at the same price.

Went to try out this restaurant recently and it was amazing! The service they give to customers is superb! I happened to get the dinner set despite just being by myself. The set came with different meats and rice and vegetable and they were all fantastic! Priced very generously, this is a good place to try out in San Francisco!

Wanted to try more places in Chinatown and been eyeing this place for awhile. I’m in search of authentic yummy Cantonese food in Chinatown. We only ordered two dishes, beef with raw egg over rice and soft scrambled eggs with shrimp over chow fun (over chow fun was special request). Both were made very well. We especially loved the chow fun. I overheard someone ordering Peking spareribs which was a childhood favorite dish. Will be back to try more dishes!

Disgusting! Dirty! Ordered a pan fried seafood and the shrimps smelled, the rest of the seafood on the dish tasted like if you have the a dirty sea on your mouth. Very very greasy. Sticky tables, smelly restrooms. Waitress hurrying us up even if there were few tables. Chicken noodle soup tasted like powder with water. Not what expected thought they would have a good broth. The vegetables undercooked very salty. Just don't go. Is not just about the food. It is really dirty. It was not like this 5 years ago.

  • BETTINA KIRBY

Food was Great, Portions were Big, and Prices were Good. I ordered the Dinner Special for $14.95 which included Soup, Garlic chicken and/or Broccoli Beef (my friend Had) with Chow Mein and/or Fried Rice, Chicken Salad and a Egg Roll. My Only Issue was that My Friend was chased out the Door by a Waitress demanding he Add a Tip to His Credit Card Receipt after I had already left a Tip Covering Both Our Purchases in Cash. It was very Unprofessional and Rude. I will Not be Eating there again.

  • David W (ダビッド)

What a great find. Quick welcome at door and seated fast. Order taken and had the Hong Kong Dinner for two and two Tsing Tao. Place was lively with several large groups around tables enjoying their evenings. Food was served as ready rather than waiting to serve all at the same time so no waiting under heating. Tea & Fortune Cookie Egg Roll Wonton Soup Beef with broccoli Sweet And Sour Pork BBQ Pork Fried Rice Fresh ingredients used. Very large servings and we were full at the end.

A great place to find, good food and specials, sizable portions at decent price. Visited them at an awkward time when the waiters were busy eating, but they were still friendly and helpful. Will be going back when I'm in the area.

The food here was absolutely delicious. They have lunch specials from 11AM to 5PM. I don't know many places in my lifetime that does that for a lunch special. The service was good and the food came out within a reasonable time. The amount of food that I got made me feel quick. My only small complaint would be that there's was too much salt for my taste. Overall, great for grabbing a quick bite or for a large party group of six or more.

Stumbled upon this gem because we wanted to try something new and we were intrigued that you have to take the stairs down. Anyway, gotta warn you that it’s not the cleanest but the food was delicious. We got the pork bbq fried rice and the salt & pepper porkchop. The service was fast too and our dishes were served in 10-15 mins.

Randomly stumbled upon this little gem last night. They were closing soon but happily seated us and fed us in a timely manner! Everything we had was delicious and tasted homemade and the vegetables were crisp and fresh. The Mongolian beef and sweet and sour pork were my favorites, but my friend loved the fried wontons. We give this a huge thumbs up and we will be back soon

This is all about the size of the portions! I can tell you they are generous, and that's not the best part... the food is delicious and cheaper than many of the same area. My husband and I went in and ordered soup, rice and chicken to share and it was more than enough! The waitresses very polite, although their english is still not very fluent.

  • Jeff B

With all Asian people eating there, you’d think it would be good, but I was served their Shredded Pork combination dinner with almost ZERO pork in it. It was basically a plate of lettuce with some scraps of chicken, rice and vegetables. The soup was good- that’s about it. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Service was indifferent and slow. Not recommended.

  • Athanassios Protopapas

The food was average at best and the beef tasted like grilled meet. We got plates just with forks, no sticks or knives available. We had to ask after the drinks we ordered. After paying one waiter demanded bigger tip than we were willing to pay, since the food and service weren’t that great. You could select better than this.

  • AD Avenue Group

in the middle of China town, was one of the few place that was opened on Monday evening. I ordered a roast duck with steam rice. decent price 16.95 they suggested many dishes on the menu. the meat was tender and tasted very good. it is enough for one person of you're hungry and enough for 2 if you have a light appetite

Amazing. Portions were huge. Wife and I shared a tofu and pork dish. The tofu melts in your mouth literally. I have never had anything like it. 3 entrees with 2 sodas for the kids was about $50. To find the place, you walk downstairs from the sidewalk.

It's very loud in here, but the food is very good at reasonable prices. This restaurant is a great stopoff late at night in Chinatown. I ate some barbecued pork fried rice, chicken wings, and mushrooom and chicken on flat noodles. Oil is used plentifully. The waiters are friendly and attentive.

My family and I chose this restaurant on a whim while in Chinatown, San Francisco and absolutely do not regret it. The food was wonderful and staff was great! Very friendly people sitting around at other tables as well. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Chinatown!

They had some good decent food here, it was an empty restaurant when me and my family ate here. The beef and broccoli and fried rice was delicious but the Orange chicken didn't taste that good, it was just burnt crispy meat with bbq looking sauce. Service was alright.

  • Wandak Renew

Five stars because it's one of my favorite places to go in Chinatown. I mostly get the specials. The gravy and sauces are raved about by my friends. Me too! Lunch is busy with people enjoying the food. 4 pm wasn't busy. Enjoy large portions at very reasonable prices.

Got a recommendation from one of the stores for this place. She did not mislead us. This place seems to be more geared for the locals rather than the tourists, which is a good thing! If you want great true Chinese at great prices, I would go here.

We were the only white people in the whole restaurant which is how you know it's authentic! The only bad part was it took a long time to get our check and because we are white, we got served forks instead of chopsticks like everyone else. Lol

Great food, nice service and prices. 4 starts because the place needs a hell of a refurbishing and hygiene, I mean, they could have a neatier joint. We could smell smoke from cigarettes inside the restaurants.

Good prices, good food, big plates... I had one of the dinner meals and was $14.95 for the soup, sweet and sour chicken with rice, chicken salad and a egg roll. $1.95 for the sodas... Fast and nice service...
