"Extremely dissapointed"
"Choyan has lovely food most of the time but is way too expensive"
"Nostalgic Chinese restaurant, right out of the 80s"
"A group of us had the banquet"
"It serves genuine Chinese cuisine as well as fusion cuisine to suit Australian customers"
Extremely dissapointed. l ordered some noodles and veggies, both were wayyyy too salty that makes you drink litres of water after. The noodles doesn't taste like anything but burned food and salt, kinda like shhrimp paste as well didn't finish both, plus the food is too expensive for the quality. Strongly not recommend …
Choyan has lovely food most of the time but is way too expensive. I have been ordering from them for a while now, as well as dining in, and their prices are just increasing all the time. Last night I ordered an entree, two dishes and rice and was charged $91.60! It's completely outrageous. I won't be dining with them again.
Nostalgic Chinese restaurant, right out of the 80s. You'll be warmly greeted with smiles and a basket of prawn crackers. Excellent value lunch specials... You can't go past sweet and sour pork which is well executed - crispy little nuggets of pork in a tasty sauce. Very comforting food. I enjoyed the "booth" seating.
A group of us had the banquet. The spring rolls were tough with not much filling. The seafood course had frozen scallop, prawn and an inedible piece of squid. The main courses were beef, chicken and honey king prawns covered in too much batter , fried rice, fruit. The service was excellent. The food average More
It serves genuine Chinese cuisine as well as fusion cuisine to suit Australian customers. The portion is generous and pricing reasonable. Service is excellent. The restaurant has a number of large tables to cater for family gathering. This place is popular for birthday celebrations. A local hero.
The staff are super friendly, helpful and charming. The decor is bang on for suburban Chinese and therein lies the appeal. The prices are fine. But as much as it hurts me to say it, the food is lacking (I’m being generous with my wording). I probably won’t return. Or maybe just once more!
Wonderful service by the waiters and very attentive. The Chinese cuisine served here is delicious and authentic. Definitely a restaurant I will keep going back to. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food you receive. Everyone left with a full stomach and enjoyed all the food.
Friendly staff. Typical chinese menu. My fathers favourite restaurant and we have been going there in his memory for 40 years. Nice disability lift to help older people up the stairs. Juicy prawns. Lovely for the restaurant to all sing Happy Birthday to my elderly mum. Happy night.
We go for our birthday dinners and other family celebrations. The restaurant has been here for a long time as I ate there with my parents so is a north shore institution. The food is always good, friendly service at an affordable price. Enjoy!
I can 100% say out of all the Chinese restaurants I've been to this place is by far the best. Amazing and very friendly staff that cater for your every need, lovely interior Chinese design and sitting booths (who doesn't love a booth). But
Beware: CHECK RECIEPT BEFORE PAYING. The waiter (skinny short old man) was dishonest by charging us for something we did not agree on. When we noticed, we complained and he played dumb. Should have spoken to the owner (who is also chef) to
Older style Chinese restaurant at its best! Good food, well prices, excellent services, and smiles are Free ( and prawn chips). Extensive menu to choose, I think its one of the few 'better ' ones left in Sydney. I do recommend this place
Fantastic “old school” Chinese restaurant that is an icon in the area. Feels just like being back in the 80’s with friendly service, all the traditional favourite dishes and fast service. Great place to bring the family or a large group.
Fantastic throwback to the hay day of Chinese restaurants in Australia. The decor remains unchanged, replete with booths lining the walls and huge circular tables occupying the best spots. The service is fast and efficient. The menu is
Ordered a big meal for a family dinner and food was terrible. Noodles were soggy, soup was only half filled and order vegetarian spring rolls (because a family member is vegan) and instead received meat spring rolls. When we called the
We have been dining at Choyan for the last 30 years during which time the food had always been good. Nothing exceptional, but still good. Our takeaway meal on Wednesday night this week was a shocker. Fried rice was
The first time that I visited the Choyan was about 38 years ago. It had a name for good quality food and service back then and nothing has changed. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and attentive.
Love this restaurant. Being coming for years since the girls were small. Went there tonight for our low key 25th wedding anniversary. Everything served with a smile and the food was great. Thank you Choyan! More
Excellent, personable customer service! Very nice and very experienced wait staff. They were accommodating to me when I asked for tomato rice with the crispy skin chicken too. Definitely want to come back here!
Great Chinese food in a family-friendly atmosphere, and for a reasonable price. Large range of dishes too, and friendly service . They open until 9:30pm on weeknights, and later on weekends.
We have been customers at this restaurant for over 10 years, both eating there & home deliveries. Today I ordered sweet & sour fish fillets, Dry Fried Shredded Beef with Mandarin
Please don't use left over cooked food to make dishes! Also, the left over rice can only make fried rice and cannot be served as fresh rice with dishes. It is so disgusting! More
Authentic Cantonese cooking. The staff here are very attentive and informative. The food is very tasty without being oily and salty. Will definitely come here to eat again. More
To be honest a subpar suburban Chinese restaurant. Staff were quite pushy to order quickly despite the lack of other customers. Food was very average. Quite oily and processed.
I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. The food is always good and fresh. I have dined in and I also get delivery. It is a North Shore Institution.
Our food was yummy reasonably priced and the man who served us was friendly. The decor is a bit old and worn with leather seats taped together. Food came quickly:)
Came here for lunch first time. This place has been here, just that it is upstair and never really given it a try before.
The absolute BEST Chinese restaurant in the world. The food is high-quality and the staff are friendly and helpful.
