I recently moved to the Houston area and was really excited to have a local burger joint, Christian's Tailgate Bar & Grill, right next door. However, my experience at this establishment with a friend left me deeply disappointed. The main issues were the rude customer service from Lorena and the subpar quality of the burgers. Upon ordering, we requested a few customizations to our bacon burgers. Unfortunately, the staff didn't seem to pay attention or care about our requests. When our order arrived, we were greeted with squished, overcooked burgers that were filled with an excessive amount of pickles and shredded lettuce. It felt like a lackluster attempt at a burger. Considering the disappointing quality of the meal, the total bill of approximately $40 was disheartening. If I had wanted a mediocre burger, I could have easily gone to McDonald's at a much lower cost. What saddened me the most was the complete disregard for customer satisfaction, exemplified by Lorena's rude behavior. As a newcomer to the area, I was hoping to find a local burger joint that would become a favorite, but unfortunately, Christian's Tailgate Bar & Grill fell far short of my expectations. In conclusion, my visit to Christian's Tailgate Bar & Grill was an absolute letdown. The lack of attention to customer requests, coupled with the disappointing quality of the burgers and the high price, made for a disheartening experience. I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a delicious, satisfying burger and pleasant customer service. I hope the management takes note of these concerns and works towards improving the overall dining experience for future patrons.

Went to watch our Astros game and I will say that the food was really good. We had the Beef fajita nachos and a slider basket. Where my issue is is with pricing and the response we received. So according to the menu it states “Game Day Domestic Buckets $15”. We get the bill and were charged $40 for 2 buckets of Michelob Ultras. When I brought it to the attention of the young lady she stated that the prices were changed recently. I told her that unfortunately we were not made aware of the price change. She offered to speak with her manager to see if he would change the price. She returned and apologized but said her manager would not change the price. At that point I felt like they were getting over on me but because the waitress was nice I did not make a fuss over it. I recommended to the young lady that if they knew there was a pricing difference then we as customers should have been made aware when we placed the order. Do not take advantage of the situation. Christians Tailgate management c’mon you can do better than that. As management the MOD could have at least had the courtesy to come over and explain himself why he would not honor the pricing clearly stated on the menu instead of really blowing it off.

0 stars if I could give it! The food I received at this establishment was honestly terrible. Had Mango Habenero wings which were served cold & definitely seemed like they were baked in an oven instead of fried up crispy. The sauce was only sweet with no heat from the "habenero". Also had sweet potato fries that were obviously frozen & had no flavor. Even the ranch we dipped them in was weak in flavor & was watery in consistency. Even ordered potato skins thinking how could those be bad but they sucked too. They only good part of the meal was the Coke I ordered. We ate it only because we were hungry but it was all a total waste of $25. I should've complained about it but after working 14.5 hours I didn't want to bother & besides that no manager was even seen to complain to. On top of a total fail on the food, our waitress Donna was not very attentive. We had to wait for her entirely too long to come to our table to check on us. She had a pleasant attitude but needs to pay more attention to her tables. The place would be cool to hang out in with friends but the food & service sucks. We will never return & I will always regret giving them my money for a completely unsatisfactory experience.

Today I moved into the best western next door for a year . I am building 160 houses in the area, I saw the sports bar next door and thought I would check it out since I spend a lot of time doing payroll and meeting with contractors this might be a good spot while having a drink and eating . WRONG the bartender was terrible, she was rude never asked me if I needed a drink and spent the whole time laughing and joking with her friends at the other end of the bar . If it wasn’t for a male helper I would have never got a refill or ordered food . Now I was wearing shorts and a t shirt and I do have tattoos from places I visited in my 20 years in the military . So the way I was treated I’m sure it was do to that plus my race a dark Hispanic race . Well that company just lost a lot of business because I am pretty wealthy and treat my bartenders with great tips usually 40-50 percent of bill plus I usually have an average tab of over 100 a day . Anyway this Veteran of 3 tours will take his business across the street .

I came to Christian's for the first time on Monday, February 28th, 2023. The restaurant seemed pocketed away and I had never really noticed it but my attention picked up the second I entered. Empty as it should be at 10pm on a Monday night but exceptional service regardless of us pushing their closing and sitting in a closed off section! This is the home of Houston's best burger and my favorite fried pickles. I did not try the burger but I ordered the fried pickles and an old fashioned... YUM! The drink was nothing less than expected and the fried pickles came in thinly sliced spears similar to Katz Diner but in my opinion better. Thank you for keeping the customers at the forefront of the restaurants efforts! (PS: Happy Hour fried pickles are 5$.... seemed to be a good amount for 4 people)

Chose this place due to a friend’s recommendation for watching the Astros game. Inside bar has a high ceiling with skylights and lots of natural light. LOVE THAT! Lots of beers on tap, including local beers. Large tv’s all around the bar to suit anyone’s watching needs and plenty of seating. Sports flags for all teams hang from the tall ceiling and create a great atmosphere. The bartender, Laura, was immediately ready to serve, very pleasant and continuous great service throughout our whole stay. She told us the drink specials and made recommendations. The outdoor bar is also nice. The Highway 6 traffic makes it a little tough to hear the tv and I wouldn’t recommend it on a hot Houston day, but I imagine it would be perfect for a fall or early spring day to sit and chat with friends. The restrooms are clean and the food is delicious. We split the 2 hotdogs with fries and were very satisfied. Will definitely return! Great experience!!

Honestly wasn’t expecting much coming into this place. It’s a nice spot but sometimes in a hard area to spot if you’re not paying attention. The staff was friendly and all had smiles on their faces, the drinks were decently priced, they do up charge for everything it seems. The southwest wrap was probably my favorite of anything we tried including the appetizer platter, and some Parmesan truffle fries. What truly made this experience pleasure was observing the atmosphere of the staff and how well they seemed to work while also dancing around the place, doing karaoke etc. We were constantly checked on by our server Gil, who made me and my family one of the most pleasant and fun dining experience I have ever received. We absolutely cannot wait for our next outing there.

Firstly, water is NOT free. A glass of water is $2.50. Never been to a restaurant where water wasn't free. Secondly, everything is so greasy. We ordered the fried shrimp basket - which tasted like popcorn & was only edible when coated in lemon juice & ranch. We ordered the mushroom Swiss burger - which was actually good, but the sweet potato fries were nothing short of mush. The only reason this review isn't 2 stars, is because of the California Club Wrap - very full & densely packed wrap, definitely worth trying, but probably nothing else.

I am only giving 1 star because the food was tolerable. The service however, was disappointing. First, it was stated that we would need separate checks and acknowledged. So come time to receive our checks and everyone was handed theirs while mine was placed on the table. As someone who worked for tips, I would pride myself and giving everyone at the table the same treatment. If my service was bad it was bad for everyone...and so on. Here is where it gets interesting, all of the drinks was put on one check and then tried to justify their reasoning. So once that was fixed, only two of our drinks were placed on one ticket...the moral of this story...set higher standards for yourself.

Came with my girlfriend for the first time and we both got burgers. My girl left the table for a second and I ordered for both of us when she came back I was told that I got the extra toppings she wanted on her burger one of them was incorrect. (lol) found our server Alexander/Alex and asked him to swap one of them out and he obliged. He went and told the kitchen and about 5-10 minutes later our food came out and the back of house had also gotten the order swapped out correctly. The fried pickled appetizer was also nice they cut them to look like French fries. Apparently my girl also didn’t want onions and Alex made a joke saying now we know for next time. Made a good connection.

Went out after work for a few drinks and apps... we've been here before but with social distancing things are different not just here but everywhere. The apps were good, we had the southwestern egg rolls and the heart attack fries. A Moscow mule and an Old fashion to start off, both made very well. Happy hour till 7 was a plus, wells and domestic beers are 2.50 and at 7 they start reverse happy hour, never heard of it but its premium liquors (select ones) for 5. Our only complaint was that it was VERY hot, almost unbearably hot. We will of course return, but hopefully the AC problem is fixed. Well until next time...... signing off Two Peas!!

Amazing WINGS! I ordered the lemon pepper wings, and the wings were fresh and flavorful. I also ordered the loaded fries, mind-blowing!!!! I actually set the wings to the side so I could indulge in the fries. On Saturday night, they have $2.00 Mimosas. Karaoke was good, some amazing singers. But the music choices were not my speed, more Disney and Broadway pieces. Definitely will visit again when coming to H-Town. Don't sleep on this spot, try it out.

Had the country fried bacon burger with their onion rings. Delicious. Side was their house onion rings; also delicious! Shiner was cold and fresh, and staff was attentive. Appetizer was the jumbo pretzel - hot, soft and fluffy on the inside baked nice and crispy on the outside. Will visit again! Only recommendation: guys, try two 1/5 patties instead of a single 1/3 pattie - I think it would take your burgers over the top! Either way, I'll be back!

Well...it's a Houston staple. Great for watching games and for happy hour specials. Great beer. I also ordered a whiskey sour with the house well and the first one tasted like all lemonade. She remade it and Rebecca Creek whiskey which was obviously weak/watered down. I was scared to order any hard alcohol after that On Tuesdays they have $1 tacos...nothing impressive just something to fill u up as you drink. Actually, other than the burgers the food here is not impressive at all...and I've tasted a better burger at Chili's. Maybe it's just this location. The staff is extremely friendly though. I'll come back...for the beer only.

  • Jack Duke

I don't really get the appeal. It was crowded and extremely overpriced. The service was extremely slow and the lady helping us messed up our order several times. We ordered drinks and it took so long that another waitress asked us if we needed anything so we ordered another round. The first order came to us in tiny cups and the second came out in normal sized ones...?? Once we finally got our food, it wasn't at all good enough especially for the price. We literally won't ever return here. Luckily, everyone was polite but it was an experience my lady and I literally joke about all the time when talking about going out for dinner.

  • Anna

Stopped in during reverse happy hour. There were plenty of available tables. The server was friendly, attentive, and had a great personality. Our food was served quickly, hot, and just the way we ordered it. Drinks were only $5 on the reverse happy hour menu. Yay! Great place for any size party. Food is always delicious and drinks specials are available. Terrific place to watch sports.

After a long drive from Southwest Houston to attend a grand opening only to not get any service from said spot. I ended up driving to this particular Christian's Tailgate, I have been in at some the 3 other spots & I will say this, its not a super long drive & solves the parking issues that Midtown & the Heights have. I manage to get the Hot Chicken Sandwich with Chips & Salsa to go since any item I will tend to order with chips & salsa as opposed to fries. I may try to go here & there, I love the atmosphere & the staff seemed cool in just my 1st go around there

I have been to this location 3 times now, and have to say it's my favorite Christian's location. The food has been on point each time. Mushroom Swiss Burger with Parmesan Truffle Fries are my favorite. Service has been great each time. I can't say enough about Lorena, the manager and her waitstaff. They are very attentive and make you feel welcomed. I have to give a big shout out to Mary who served us on the Patio the first time, and came to say hi to us inside on our 3rd visit. Again, great staff and great food. My favorite place to watch the Astros.

I ordered the grilled chicken entree with mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was cooked fresh. Nothing out of a can. It was all prepared most excellently! Best grilled chicken entree in recent memory. Everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection. Definitely add this to your lunch rotation! You guys should make sure your chef/cook are well paid. You do not want to lose that skill! Excellent food and service.

Very delicious food & very affordable. Chicken fried chicken, grilled chicken, & pork chops are more juicy than other eateries. Cream corn & cole slaw here are the best in town. Lots of big screens showing various games. Highly recommend this place I continue going back to. And very popular with college alumni watch parties. My only complaint is that management has no clue when Houston Cougars play on TV. Every time I go there on a Saturday to watch Houston Cougars on TV, every other game is showing except Houston Cougars. Only when I point it out to them, do they put the Cougars game on TV.

  • Walter Buchanan

Food was good but kinda bland. Restaurant or better quality food tho. The fries were very good, better than the burgers. My order did get messed up.... It was late i didn't want to go back. The atmosphere ( take this with much saltiness) is a bar... I stop going to bars 10 years ago when i stop drinking... Nothing has changed, i really only came here for the food. Karaoke night drunk 30 - 40+ year olds singing some were ok, but some will make you sober up and blow your high... I don't drink or smoke! But the vibe is very positive! people just out trying to enjoy themselves!

  • AMBER HADDAD

The drinks were good. CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM OUR BARTENDER... HORRIBLE... She seemed like she didn't really care about serving us. But she sure put on a show for the male customers. When I asked her what her specialty drink was, she totally didn't understand what I was talking about. I even asked another employee if she was a new bartender, but he said she has been there a long time. When he told me that, I was instantly mind blown at just how horrible her customer service was.

Came back a third time and the food was disappointing. The wait staff was not attentive and our waitress came and left without offering more drinks. The onion rings previously were amazing. I was sad . We drove5 hours and we’re excited. The waitress did not pay attention to my wife’s order. Her error was easily fixed. If you see an empty drink offer another. Easy up sell in a bar. The fried bacon burger was a no go, but they tried. The manager made an effort. First two times were so good we came straight here when we got to Houston.

I come to Christian's pretty often and for the most part the food is good! The sliders and the heart attack fries been my favorite so far. And you not going to beat their $5 & $7 shots nowhere. Their service might depend on the waiter sometimes but overall is a chill place to hang around.

First visit was on a Sunday and they had $1 mimosas that were tasty. I had the Chicken Fried Bacon Burger and it was delicious. Had a great waitress also. My second visit it the reason for only 3 stars. Terrible waitress! She was not interested in being friendly and didn't listen to anything we asked for. My husband's burger had all the things he asked NOT to have and it was only ok in flavor. My chicken fried steak was ok, but the jalapeño mac n cheese was terrible. The atmosphere is nice and tv's everywhere, as well as cold beer on tap.

  • Rene Lu

Atmosphere was decent, good set up, but the food, beverages, and service was lousy. We sat outside and went in three times to ask for drinks, appetizers, and finally food. I'm patient, but when there is less than 30% capacity and you're taking 15 mins + to bring drinks...same went for everything else, it's a bit much. One drink came out with the main meal, which was more than 40 mins later. This was after reminded twice. I do not recommend this place. Food was not as it is at other C. Tailgate establishments. Save your $$ and your time.

  • Michelle Paden

Came here for my son’s birthday dinner and was not impressed. Food was good but, way overpriced! I can get a bigger burger that’s just as good at a much more reasonable price. They charge extra for everything…..cheese on the burger, extra dipping sauce for chicken tenders. They only had one waiter for about 12 tables which is ridiculous! My son wanted to try out their burgers for his birthday but, will not be going back. With tip 2 burgers and fries came to $43 totally ridiculous!

Nice place to hangout with friends. Food was better than expected, ordered a chicken sandwich which isn't their specialty and it was still pretty good! Price of the food and drinks are in the normal, higher end of that normal, but it was worth it. Took a star away because I went on a Tuesday which is $1 tacos, unfortunately you have to purchase 2 drinks to get the special. Overall good experience, recommend!

  • Jason Downes

Went in with a buddy of mine from out of town. It was a quiet afternoon and the service was both fast and friendly. I ordered some chicken strips and I have to warn you now that those things are a whole lot bigger than they appear to be. They also bring a large helping of gravy to go with those strips so don't worry about not having enough.

I went there today and I threw $16 worth of food in the trash. The wings were fried plain and I was given a container with lemon pepper on the side. That was not what I asked for, the wings were overcooked and not one bit of seasoning was on them. The fries were almost stale tasting, not crispy not soft but somewhere In between. Basically the fries were an indescribable texture and just bad.

If you read the negative reviews there spot on. I’ve been to their other locations and had a great time where the staff/bartenders were friendly and made you fell welcome. Decent place, easy access for sure and lots of tv's to watch your favorite game. Extremely slow service on a pretty much empty night in the place and then we didn't even get the appetizer we ordered after waiting 20 mins when our meal (wings) finally arrived. Overpriced drinks didn't help either. A disappointing experience but I'll go again some other time to give them another chance.

I gave this place 3 tries to see if they could really give me a good meal and each time I was disappointed. The only reason I can give it 3 stars is because the waitresses were very nice and helpful, and they had a decent beer selection. The prices seemed a little high and I do not plan to visit this location again. You can find many other sports bars close with better food.

Food was fine. Don't come for your lunch hour. Took 35 min for 5 sliders and some onion rings. Gave me about 10 minutes to get back to the office. Had to box it all up as soon as it came out. Staff seemed friendly, but I only talked to them when I arrived and when I left, so who knows how the service is. I'm sure it's better dinner/game time. Lunch was pretty sad though.

$5 cocktail options, water moccasin was my choice and it didn't disappoint, happy rancher didn't really do it for me. Wings were also nice but the shrimp taco was superb, I had to have more of that and for these reasons I will be going back to experience some more cocktails as they have a variety of them and I will be needing some shrimp tacos again. I recommend.

You can never go wrong with anything on the menu. However I always, in my opinion, order their amazing burgers. The food is always so fresh and hot. To add to that the employees are so sweet and offer other great choices. For example the the fries are great, and the onion rings are even better. Make sure to choose a different side every time. They are all yummy.

  • Bill Maguire

Interesting place, very visible from the highway but not as easy to get into their parking lot as you'd think. Service was good, good was basic but tasty and filling. If you opt for "starter food" I definitely recommend the hot pretzel. Wasn't expecting the taste explosion that I enjoyed on my first bite, all the way through to the last bite (and crumbs).

First time there and the burger was great. Added mushrooms for an extra dollar. Onion rings or fries came with the burger. Waitress, Christian, was attentive and we got the food HOT! Pricing is fair, but they need more different types of alcohol drinks during happy hour. Felt more like a neighborhood sports bar than a restaurant.

Steak special was good. They don't know what rare means, but it had flavor. We wanted to order more shots but it was hard to find the waitress up to an hour after our 2nd shot. Found her in time to at least get the check. She was nice and smiled, but it wasn't crowded enough to not get service timely. Is that a millennial thing?

Best place for cheap drinks, decently priced foods that’s taste great with appropriate portions, friendly service, and overall a good atmosphere. It’s a very carefree non judgmental environment and the staff acts like family, and treats you like family when you walk in.

Lots of room. Seat your self, great staff and food. I have no complaints about this place. Our waitress came over to the table the right amount of times. Didn't bothers us. Took our order and didn't make any mistakes. Got a free drink of fireball for me and my wife on the house. I must say you must go here! Good prices

This is not my kind of scene so i may be biased. There's specials on different days and i noticed the waitresses were really nice and remember their customers. I wasn't too impressed with the set up but its a bar and grill so you definitely get what you expect here. Pretty cozy and my friend loves their taco special.

Food is good, but below expectations regarding the exact order placed. Service was as expected for a bar restaurant.

I love the atmosphere here. My girls friends and I had a girls night out and came for karaoke . Omg we had such a blast. The food was great, we had the bacon bacon burger and it was 1 pound!!!!! We also had some of the salads. The bartender was great and so was our sever Sabrina!!! I give this place 5 stars

  • Connie Boncher

Very good menu selection at reasonable prices, great food and drink specials. Food was excellent and staff was very friendly. Lot of TVs to watch sporting events Located right next to the Drury Inn & Suites. I would definitely go back if in the area. The southwest wrap and slider basket were pretty good.

  • Amber Bentley

Had a fantastic first visit last night! Drinks were strong and well priced. Can't beat 50 cent oysters! The peel and eat shrimp was also fabulous! We shared a pork slider, some okra and a wrap. All were fast, hot and delicious! Also received outstanding service from Cassy!! We'll definitely be returning!

  • Linda Chapa

Went for happy hour. Had a great time. Special on Wednesday's now: Chicken fried steak or chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes was super delicious and only $5; well worth it. Donna the waitress does a fabulous job; very attentive and super friendly....I will definitely continue going back...

  • Texas Pride

Amazing place, the ambiance is great, servers are phenomenal, and the burgers, well let's just say I was speechless. From the very first bite i knew those were another level of burgers. It was juicy, seasoned and cooked to perfection. Everyone has to try them I guarantee you won't be disappointed

Our first server was very attentive. The second not as much. I saw the bartender use her teeth to open a bottle. . They need to invest in bottle openers. I have been here several times and normally the service is good. The food is good. The $1mimosas on Sunday are pretty good as well. …

This place seems to change with the wind. Lately the CS has deteriorated and it's turned into a bit of a sketchy bar at night. Beautiful patio and interior and I think during the day is better. Placed used to be packed regularly but those days are over since the O&G industry went to sheets.

Walked in first thing I saw was a couple that should've been at a room not at a bar. Walked up to the bar to order and the gentlemen working there bar wouldn't even acknowledge we were there. So we went to a table and finally a waitress came. We were just trying to order some to go food.

Enjoyed my food I had the bacon bacon burger although the waitress said there was bacon inside the meat I didn’t notice any. Also this just me but if I’m paying $15 for a burger I feel that it should come with cheese. Drinks were not that good. Overall my experience was good.

  • Kim H

I had the chili burger, which was ok and the coleslaw was amazing! Wished the burger was seasoned more and maybe I should’ve added like lettuce/tomato/onions! If I go next time I’ll probably try to chicken strips & pulled pork sliders that both my coworkers stated were good!

  • Jennifer Draut

Pretzel is amazing! It's huge and delicious. Breading on the catfish and shrimp is the best I can recall ever having and it was cooked perfectly. Not a fan of the cream corn, but it was done well. Tea was good. Service was very good, sweet gals. Will be back.

  • Mrs. Nelson

This was my first time here and the Bar staff were friendly I had the sliders. The bbq pulled pork slider was a little too sweet but the other sliders were very tasty. I love the seasonings on the French fries and the onion rings were very fresh and crispy.

If depression was a food, it’d look like their grilled cheese. It’s not very often you see a grilled cheese on the main sandwich menu, so I figured it must be decent. Instead, I ended up with something that looks like it came from a school cafeteria.

  • robert purdy

The bartender was amazing, customer service and personality was top tier. Her and the Margaritas made me come back. Try the Prickly Pear! I didn't get to try the food but I heard it was perry good, would go back again on a future visit. …

From out of state. Right next to my hotel. Went Thursday. 9/2 Good service. Blonde bartender catered to who she felt like. Sat down at a pretty empty var and still had to wait til this Asian male bartender took care of me. I hope she didn't

Their servers are always so sweet and attentive, I love these ladies! And their pulled pork mini sliders never disappoint. We love coming Sunday's for their $1 mimosas, we take advantage & order the pitcher.

I'd give this place six stars. Burgers r unreal and the wings put BWW to shame. Plus a full bar and a slew of TVs with inside and outside dining under a canopy. You have to eat here or keep missing out

My wife and I had a great time. The food was great, the shots were on point and the wait staff (Chris) was great. She checked on us regularly and had us laughing. We will definitely be back!

For a bar the burgers were good, the onion rings were cooked perfect . The Coke cola was on point. The place is dirty for a restaurant, dust everywhere and the floor has never been mopped.

  • Eric Butters

Great food and bar but a little expensive to drink here. The catfish and fries are great and so are the burgers. Christian's Tailgate is your classic sports bar atmosphere with great food.
