City New Cafe is a great little magazine shop /coffee shop,/weekend musical venue. The one thing most people don't know as every Saturday, and Sunday late morning they have musical artists come in and play live music. It's great to stop by and have a cup of coffee, enjoy a pastry and listen to the music offered every weekend. If you don't do dairy, they do offer non-dairy options such as coconut milk, almond milk or soy. They also have some of the most delicious chocolate truffles made in the city! Perfect for gift giving! This is an absolute must when you come here. In fact, you get a free truffle with every coffee purchase! They also offer local neighborhood newspapers that give updates on what's happening in those specific neighborhoods. Check it out!

Great magazine store that I used to go to all the time when I lived in the area. Now, they've added coffee and sweets along with the huge magazine and newspaper selection they have. I'm very glad to see that that business made it and is still around. The service was excellent, the staff have been very friendly and helpful. The coffee and sweet rolls and pastries were very good and they are priced extremely fair. They have a pretty good selection of coffees and pastries. Whenever I am in the area, and want a cup of coffee or a pastry that's where I will go. I choose them over Starbucks or Dunkin any day.

The person working the day I came in was friendly and answered my questions. Also seemed to be the only one working! Additionally to drinks, they sell food and truffles. This place has such a cool concept to it as you are able to browse through the magazines and books while enjoying a cup of coffee/tea. There are plenty of seats: in the front where the cafe area is and in the back past the magazines.

Small super friendly — “You got everything you need? You sure? Sorry we ran out of truffle samples…” — coffee shop within an old school newspaper and book store playing big band and jazz from the 1940s where they make and sell their own dark chocolate truffles. They sell actual newspapers! Very authentic. It felt like the kinda place I imagine my dad might’ve stopped in on his way to work before I was born. Aside from the stale scone I really enjoyed it

This little gem has the largest selection of magazines on the north west side. There is a book nook in the back where I found a gift for a friend who is a bit difficult to shop for. On the walls you can find art work for sale. Many books available about Chicago. There is a cafe with a variety of hot and cold beverages as well as pastries for sale. Seating is set up inside the cute cafe or outside for fresh air and covid social distancing protocols. 9/26 masks are required and counters were wiped down after customers.

A cute little coffee shop plus magazine store. There was live music when I was there. I ordered a matcha latte. I'm dairy free so I got it with coconut milk. My friend got a regular latte. We were each given a truffle sample. They make the truffles themselves and they were super delicious.
AMAZING. The spinach feta croissant is huge, flaky, buttery, and delicious. I also got very good cold brew coffee (NOT watered down like some other guys....) and they threw in some chocolates for free! I can't compliment them enough. Definitely skip the Starbucks and go here!
Really cute café with a ton of great new and used books to peruse. We came here just for a coffee/pastry, but ended up staying and looking through all of the used books and magazines in the shop. There were plenty of places to bring a
This place is really cute. I really only partook in the coffee service here, so can't speak to to the newsstand selection, but the coffee was great, service was great. The pastry selection was diverse, and had I known I would've come
Donna’s kingdom of literacy and live music is unforgettable. Do your soul a favor and travel here. Drip coffee by the cup, housemade truffles (are you KIDDING?!) Came here in search of the news and left with stories to tell. Love it
