In the past they have done honest work on my car until recently when they tried to charge me $700 for a charcoal canister that costs only $310 at the dealership. Not to mention it was my first time leaving my car there without waiting in the waiting area. Long story short, I went to get breakfeast and returned 2 hours later and my car wasn't even on the left. I was the first one there and had made an appointment 1 week before. And they were servicing cars that came in after me that weren't there when I first came in at 7am. It took them 11 hours to do 1 hour and 15 minutes of labor on my car and all they accomplished the entire day was to diagnose the problem. I had to take cabs all over Staten Island all day to and from my home to do laundry and food shopping. I was told that I had a faulty leak detection pump that would cost $440 and that I might as well buy the entire canister which includes the leak detection pump but would run me somewhere in the 700s. Fortunately I know how to use google and found out that canisters go between $191 to $550. So I decided to call the dealership personally to get a quote and guess what? It costs $310. So David tried to mark up the price of the part at least $400. I'm sure he does the right thing for some people but not for everyone and certainly not for me evidently. He also was supposed to contact me the next day to tell me if he can get a better price on the canister because I wasn't going to pay $700 and he never called me the next day or the following day. He only called me 3 days later after a few hours after I left him a message that I already purchased the canister personally at the dealership for over $400 less than he originally told me. He called to tell me that he already ordered the part and that it would go for the same exact price I purchased it for just a few hours earlier, but that it's coming from Pennsylvania. Meanwhile there's a dealership right here in Staten Island and in Bay Ridge as well. So I contacted my credit card company and submitted a dispute for $200 deposit I left that I was going to use towards the part when I returned 2 weeks later to get the job done. Which by the way I mentioned first thing in the morning that I wouldn't have a day off the same day his shop is open until 2 weeks later and he still put my car on the back burner. I think booking the first appointment a week in advance and leaving my car there for 11 hours was enough time to rebuild an engine or a transmission for crying out loud. My time means nothing to these people. I won't be returning there ever again. If you don't sit there and babysit they will service people who come behind you all day. I was very surprised about the $700 quote because I had been a regular customer for a couple of years and he had never done that to me. I'm a very patient man. In the past I have sat there for hours patiently and never broke balls. I had things to do that day and apparently they took advantage of my patience and then tried to way overcharge me for a part. This is what I got for being a loyal customer for 2 years. I guess my business isn't important to them. Personally I think they're biggest problem is that they overbook. They just need to be straight up from the jump and tell you they are booked rather than wasting your time. It's a very busy place, no doubt. I think it needs a lot more man power and a bigger shop for the amount of clientele that goes there.

David sold me a car and said he would give me a 6 month bumper-to-bumper warranty, saying that he could vouch for the vehicle since he had been performing service on it for 10 years and knew it was a great car. A few weeks later, the vehicle was smoking under the hood so much and visibility was so bad, it could not be driven. Instead of honoring what he had said to sell the vehicle, he charged me approximately $400 to fix it. Soon after that, the front door wouldn't close. After that, more and more repairs costing thousands of dollars. He said what he needed to say to sell the car, and then reneged on his word. This is a dishonorable and unethical guy......It's not surprising that in his response, he would lie again. We have been to court several times and it has been adjourned - once at your request, saying you weren't ready, and once when I suggested an adjournment, but you afterwards showed you were still intent on being a rip-off. The case has not been heard yet, so why would you say that I've lost several times? Do you really think anyone believes the Court would hear the same case over and over again? Why would you think that? I know why. Because you lie. That's what you do.

Great experience for first time customer. I was immediately greeted by David, who treated me like I've been a customer for years. I was having a headlight problem and a ticking noise coming from the left front wheel. We spoke about what the causes may be. David called a few hours later to explain his findings but didn't fix anything until I approved of it. He even brought to my attention a dirty air filter which caused a rumbling noise when the Altima started up. Long story short, all of the issues were resolved for a very fair price, the car now runs very well and I couldn't have been happier with the work and customer service. I strongly recommend Colonial for anyone seeking a fair, trustworthy mechanic on the island.

Couldn't possibly recommend this service station more. Wr had an emergency situation w our brakes - but don't live in Staten Island. They took our Mini in right away and found the problem immediately. The sot of the repair was very fair and most importantly we felt that we could trust them because they were very straightforward. Add to the above, the fact that they assisted me beyond the repair w dropping off the car in the neighborhood. The entire experience was reminiscent of an old, family business that actually cares about it's customers. Even though, as I mentioned, we don't live in SI... I will be bringing my car here for all future work as the peace of mind is worth the extra effort to go to Colonial.

IF I CAN GIVE A ZERO RATING I WOULD. I WENT TO THEM BACK IN JANUARY OF THIS YEAR. THEY HELD MY TRUCK FOR A FEW DAYS. MY FRIEND CALLED ME ONE MORNING AND SAID HE SAW MY TRUCK IN TOTTENVILLE, THIS SHOP IS IN NEW DORP. WHEN ASKED WHY THE OWNER SAID HE WAS TAKING HIS SON TO SCHOOL. 1046.00 DOLLARS LATER, THEY DID NOTHING I ASKED EXCEPT FOR AN OIL CHANGE. I HAD TO THEN BRING MY TRUCK TO TWO OTHER SHOPS TO FIX WHAT THEY MISSED TO BEGIN WITH. WHEN I DISPUTED THE CHARGE WITH AMERICAN EXPRESS, THE SERVICE STATION SAID THEY WOULD GET AN ATTORNEY TO SUE ME FOR HARRASMENT. HUH? BOTTOM LINE, IF YOU WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF, AND HAVE A STRANGER DRIVE YOUR CAR AROUND STATEN ISLAND, THIS IS THE SHOP FOR YOU.

I have been to Colonial Service Station a couple of times and was treated with professionalism. The staff there are all courteous and thorough. They follow up with you before proceeding with any additional work that needs to be done. They advise you exactly what is wrong, what needs to be done and the cost before proceeding with doing any work to your car. I would highly recommend anyone to this service station. The staff knew I was going on a long trip and thoroughly checked over my car to make sure it was safe to drive. It is my opinion that they take pride in their service and genuinely care about the safety of their customers.

I purchased a new Honda Accord from Bay Ridge Honda in January. It was time for my first oil change and I have discounts for service at the dealership. I read the (poor) reviews for Bay Ridge Honda Service and decided to go to Colonial Service Station. I could not be happier with the outstanding service I received. I scheduled my appointment with Cookie the day before and when I arrived for my appointment, they took care of me immediately. I was in contact with Tom Jr., David and Joe when I dropped off and picked up my car. The are all very professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Colonial Service Station.

These guys are great and honest mechanics I have been there many times with issues I thought would cost me thousands of dollars to be told it was something simple and picked up my car the same day with them telling me they're not even going to charge me...some shops would have told me I need a thousand dollar job for the simple fixes they did for me... I've been Taking my 2001 Cherokee to colonial for about 5 years now Tommy the owner and Dave his son are class acts..there is no b.s or beating around the bush..they are upfront with prices for parts and labor..they will take out the time to go over the vehicles issues by priority and will pressure you.into anything. ... location is prime. ..walking distance to the new dorp train stations and several buses... I recommend colonial to all my friends and family in staten island and recommend the send to whoever read this...you won't be disappointed and your vehicle will be left in good hands.

Colonial Service Station has been in its present location over 60 years--that, in itself, is evidence it is a good place to take your car for repairs.They have great mechanics and positive attitudes toward their customers, many of whom live in the New Dorp area. Unlike many other car repair shops (including the big dealership shops), it's not a waiting game for your car--they do not take on more jobs than they can do in a reasonable amount of time. My recommendation--take your car to Colonial for repair service. If you do, my expectation is that you'll become a steady customer.

Since the first time I went there and before they even touched my car I could trust them. I am a woman and I went for a second opinion and they saved me $700 - I needed a new catalytic converter - they could have did the repair and had me pay them - but they told me it fell under warranty and my mileage and that the emissions bureau states that the dealer must replace the part if it fell under this category. What a pleasure to meet honest people - Thank you for making me feel safe and that I won't be taken advantage of - I recommend them to everyone = THE BEST BEST

Came to see these guys for a wheel noise on my daughter's car. Turned out to be a tie rod. Danny (I think that's his name) did everything he could to get me the most cost effective part, and gave me a hand with the labor portion. In a business where you're scared that you're always gonna get screwed.... I felt like I was the furthest thing from it. I felt taken care of. They're family owned so... When I said it was for my daughter's safety, they knew it was my piece of mind. These are nice people and they did the right thing. And that's worth the trip.

I have been going to Colonial for almost a decade, my whole family has had cars serviced here and they are amazing!! Dave is a great guy! He's a real honest, quality mechanic. Unlike other mechanics who change things that don't need to be changed just to charge you more, Dave tells you what needs to be done and what doesn't. I had a great experience here! I went for my NY state car inspection. I called in the morning and they were able to give me an appointment that same day. They took my car right away, and I waited only 20 minutes for the entire inspection. Everyone who worked there was very nice and friendly. I think it is a family business, and you can tell they really care about their business and their customers. I would definitely recommend them and will be going back there for future car inspections and car service.

Always a great experience at colonial! I have been going there for years. Dave and the whole staff are so friendly. Many years ago I had an Altima. I had brought it to the dealership to have some work done and got a call that I needed all new brakes and it would be over $2000. I took my car and brought it to colonial and was told I had several thousand miles left on my brakes. Everyone is so honest and great and the prices are reasonable too. I highly recommend them for any of your car’s needs!

Service and value is what I took away from my experience at Colonial. As a woman, I'm always careful of the service people I deal with so I took my car to Colonial on the recommendation of a close friend. They not only repaired the elusive problem that I took it there for, but while my car was on the lift, they also took care of potential troubles that 'if gone unattended' could have been disastrous. My In-laws have been using them for many years and they have always been honest and do great work. I had to bring my in-laws car in for an inspection and while they were super busy, they fit me in a short amount of time, so that I could get drive my in-laws back to my house for my wife's birthday. it is something that family would do, and I sincerely appreciated their understanding to get it done to help out me and my family. I can see why my in-laws have used them for so long!

Now, this is my place to go for my car. Especially for women, honesty is important, you do not want to go to the shop and be charged from top to bottom. They care about customers. Changing the radiator - many hours job, plus order detail(wich is time also). And my car is not the only one there. Took a couple of days to get the car back. Even though the shop was closing at 5, they called me almost at 6 because I needed my car asap. I was so happy and was running there.

My husband just recently passed away and I have no knowledge of cars and in a very sad financial situation at this time due to my husband passing. Like I said I do not really know how to drive the car especially on a highway and it needed an inspection and since I do not use the car sufficiently it had to be reset they did this for me at no charge I am so thankful what they did for me and they were very pleasant as wellThank you again for all your help, Michele

This has to be the worst body shop on Staten island!!! I hope you never get towed by their company. This place runs a scam. Kept my car there for 7 days and did zero work... After giving me a quote of $450 for the original work, they decided to raise it to $850. I ended up towing my car out of there... Wasted 10 days. Now my normal mechanic is reporting foul play with other parts of the car having issues.. DONT GO TO THIS BODY SHOP !!!!!

Quality work at reasonable prices. Everyone was friendly and you can tell they went out of their way for their customers. They are not like most places that just want squeeze every penny from you. And Mike was one of the coolest mechanics I have ever met. He knew what he was doing and was friendly. I will be coming back to them in the future and will be recommending my friends and family to them.

Had to get my car towed here last week, was recommended to this place by AAA. Utterly excellent customer service and care. Dave seems like a very dedicated and committed individual. He is very transparent with everyone he interacts with, and that's a huge relief after dealing with so many shady mechanics. I am from Howard Beach NY. Our van broke down and we called a tow truck to tow us to the nearest repair shop. We had electronic problems with this van for almost two years that many mechanic's never could figure out. Colonial fixed it all the first time. Hands down the best, most honest garage on this side of the Island! They tell you straight out what's wrong with your vehicle and even go so far as to pull the broken part and show you what's broken when it's possible. They're very good, and the only garage in New Dorp I've never had a problem with in 20 years living in the neighborhood.

The Father, Tommy he's amazing and so funny and truthful! He answered the phone after hours and still made an appointment for me. He got alittle mixed up about when I was supposed to be there. But they totally took care of me. His son Mike knew exactly what he was doing with my car!

Went to get my car checked out not only did they explain what was wrong and how it worked, they also let me know about other issues with my car. They gave me options as to what I could do to fix it. Will definitely be going there the next time I have to get my car checked out.

I did an oil change for my 2018 Mercedes , the staff here are very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. They did not over charge me just because I’m driving a German car. I would definitely recomand this place.
