"Great stadium, hadn’t been here since 2011, when the Eskimo’s got shellacked 54+ to nothing by the Lions"
First off I have to say we went to commonwealth for the Heritage Classic not a football game. The stadium was nothing special in terms of fancy aspects but was pretty big and had a great capacity rating. I am going to state the couple problems that I had but I am understanding that this was fully sold out and for a hockey game not a football game. The set up on the concourse was not done well and made it nearly impossible to walk around the concourse. The beer and food options were not set up great and made it hard to even get anything and be back in time for the next period. Lastly the washrooms were so busy that there were disgusting things happening. On the positive side the seats were good and the experience of the game was amazing. I can see this being a good venue for a football game.
Went to an Elks game vs my home town Bombers in August of 2023. Third game in this stadium. It is big for the CFL. The Elks hadn't won a game and were in the midst of a record at home losing streak so there was maybe 15000 in attendance. The concourses are more than wide enough and the even have a concourse within a concourse on each side of the stadium. Just a little horseshoe shaped extra concourse. I only have 2 complaints. 1 there is a lot of concrete and not the most appealing to the eye. 2. there are even more stairs. Either sit at the top of the lower deck or the bottom of the upper deck.
Commonwealth Stadium is the home of the Edmonton Elks football club. Their schedule runs from June to October. It is located in central Edmonton, just north of the downtown core, and holds approximately 56,000 people. It's also a great venue to host events such as track & field competitions and summer concerts such as Garth Brooks in 2022. I recently attended the Feast on the Field annual fundraiser event for Capital Care Foundation. Fabulous food, great entertainment, and wonderful people.
Nice facility to accommodate huge crowd. It is a bit older facility but still nice. Parking is an issue but good for the environment to use public transit or shared rides, cab, taxis... I went there for a Canadian National Soccer world cup Qualifiers game and an Edmonton Elks game, it was fun both times. Certainly needs some renovation but still a nice facility.
Great stadium, hadn’t been here since 2011, when the Eskimo’s got shellacked 54+ to nothing by the Lions. Heritage classic was great, seats in section BB were ok, but far from the ice, great angle though, I never buy seats from other angles, just at the corners. Brought back a lot of memories wondering around the venders.
For a staduim that holds 60,000 people think there Concourse is ridiculously small only one level needs 2 . This place needs a clean up /reno . The seats are comfortable . Also shouldn't throw patrons purses /backpacks in a huge pile to be picked up after game as no bags allowed or purses inside Commonwealth .
Pretty decent stadium but be sure to check the entry rules. You can bring a bag the size of a passport but anything bigger needs to be a clear bag to see the contents. Concessions are just what you'd expect at a stadium. Be sure to dress warm for winter events, it gets pretty chilly
From The Heritage Classic. The building is showing its age. The concourse is too narrow to handle larger crowds. The staff did a horrific job of crowd control. It took a long time to get in the building and even longer to get to seats. Poor, over priced concessions.
Went for the heritage classic between the oilers and flames. First time there for anything. Easy to get around on the inside. Lota of places to get food and drinks. Seats are a bit tight though. Was a great time to go there for the first time
Free LRT/Transit when you have game tickets which makes life super easy to get to and from the games. 45 year old stadium that still works well. The Elks organization put on a really solid show.
Love coming here to cheer on the Edmonton Elks with the wife and kids.... Plus I love seeing the work I did replacing the seats over a decade ago it's still awesome to see to this day!!!
The biggest stadium in Canada, just the parking is limited so you have to look for parking lots around and walk. We have been there for the Elks game and it was super fun.
Heritage classic was really fun but concessions are packed into rooms in the hallways and don’t fit as many people as they should considering the size of the stadium
Went to watch Hamilton play Edmonton. Great game! Lots of choice for food and snacks, easy to find where we needed to be. Prices on par with any sporting event!
It's a nice stadium to bring the kids too. There is always a good atmosphere and it feels safe to bring kids. If only the Elks would win a home game!
Great staff, great fans, great stadium. Hope they can get more people to games! Came from Montreal and will definitely be back for another game
Had an amazing time at the Heritage Classic. Scotia Bank provided and, well... Oilers won! What a fantastic day in the City of Edmonton.
Had an amazing time while attending Oilers vs Flames Hockey Game. Loved the atmosphere and entertainment.
