I am writing this review to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the Consulate General of India's services. My recent experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I feel compelled to share it. First and foremost, their level of communication and responsiveness is abysmal. I have tried reaching out to them on multiple occasions, using the contact information provided, including emails and phone numbers. To my dismay, I have not received a single response to any of my inquiries. What's even more baffling is that they provide contact details for after-hours support, only to ignore incoming calls. The sheer lack of care and empathy is astonishing. It is disheartening to see that the Consulate General of India seems completely indifferent to the plight of individuals who are in dire need of assistance. I reached out to them with a family emergency, hoping for some guidance or support, but my pleas fell on deaf ears. The most frustrating aspect of this experience is the disconnect between the information they provide and the reality of their service. What is the point of sharing contact information if they cannot or will not respond to those who reach out for help? This lack of accountability and responsibility is simply unacceptable. In a world where diplomatic missions are expected to provide assistance, support, and guidance to their citizens, the Consulate General of India has failed miserably. My experience with them has left me feeling abandoned and frustrated, with no resolution in sight. I implore the Consulate General of India to seriously reconsider their approach to serving their citizens and their commitment to providing assistance when it is needed the most. Their current standard of service is nothing short of a disgrace, and it is high time for a change. In summary, my experience with the Consulate General of India has been marked by neglect, a lack of responsiveness, and a profound disregard for the welfare of individuals in need. I can only hope that this review serves as a wake-up call for them to reevaluate their approach to assisting their citizens

Thanks to the Counsulate for their regualr services each year with Life Certificates for our parents. This year was a poor experience because the young man at the counter lied that there was no photo copier at the Consulate and told us to get one from Officeworks. It was put fault for not taking a photocopy but we returned to witness him running up to the third floor and get copies for 3 other able bodied people, one of them his mate. Some people really destroy the glorious Indian reputation but to have one of them working at the front counter of the Indian Counsulate? Train him. In contrast, the older gentleman is so friendly and helpful and pleasant to everyone. Loved watching him joking and laughing with all the senior citizens who had come for life certificate. We had some good laughs. So sorry we didn't get your name Sir because the young man was already locking the doors so he could go to lunch at 12:30 sharp. Thank you Indian Counsulate for your services.

I visited this place last year when my wife lost her passport right before we were suppose to travel to India.. we came here and the person sitting at front was very professional and helpful..He explained us all the possibilities and guided us to apply for new passport.We were very happy with his service.. One year later when we planned again to visit India one week before our flight my daughter's evisa got rejected so we came here and the same person was as nice as before..I got my daughter visa in 3 days.. He even offered me to pick the visa and passport from Consulate office so i did the same.. Thats the extent of help they offer to the people coming there..I stayed here for half an hour and i saw some people arguing with him but he remained calm and offered the best service to those people.. If anyone has any queries plz meet this guy and i assure you,you wont be disappointed..

Hello everyone , I want to write few words about the counslate general of India in Melbourne This is my second visit and I am very pleased to write how amazingly they have attended me when I came here to check for my passport firstly the person on the intercom was amazing many thanks to her for being kind , secondly suma mam spoke to me and explained me gave the email ID and called vfs for me and asked me to go and meet vikas at vfs who was so amazing thank you vikas you ah e helped us in the past you are super star .. I called yesterday the phone call attended by prabat she was very friendly and today I came here one sir attended he was super friendly and helpful and very kind as I am travelling tomorrow I thank all of the staff here for there timely help and support god bless them all Thank you once again … you all are super champions who are here to help everyone .

How can we say a place is good or bad? As per me, a good place is one that makes me feel like home and where people like to listen and help. This is my first time at the Indian consulate. I came to this place for an urgent emergency need for my daughter’s passport. They listened to me well, understood my situation, granted my baby passport within 5 days, and finally my father-in-law could see my daughter before things got complicated for him. I saw most of the people giving a bad review for this place because they not getting a proper response on the phone, but please everyone, come to this place. Then only people can understand your genuine concern. They not talking on means they helping so many people in that time. You will definitely get help from these kind and well-trained professionals. I may not get this much help even in India.

Generally it is very rare that we have to call the Consulate Office. I wanted my OCI Certificate to be updated for newly issued passport. Applied online and did all the necessary procedure. However I had a feeling that it is not done . Reluctantly I called Melbourne Office . The exchange promptly connected me to the right desk. The concerned officer not only gave me a patient hearing but also politely informed me that my application was on the wrong page. I explained my helpless being an elderly person and not very familiar with the internet. She asked my email address and I got an email asking for some documents which I replied. By 3PM I was informed that it was fine for me to travel. I appreciate the sense of responsibility , excellent display of patience , high professionalism. Well done Prabhat. I’m proud of you.

This service is supposed to provide best solution for Indian residents when they needs best guidance and support as well. However, the first system of emergency approach that is call contact system not appropriate/not responsive very well. Feels helpless or I can say this is not first time experience like this. Very genuine and supportive staff. One of my friends needed to travel to India in emergency. He had no OCI or Visa. Consulate staff supported him throughout the process to get him an emergency visa stamped on his Aussie passport. Staff specifically came to office at 8pm just for him and to do all the needful. Most importantly, he was considerable of my friend's emergency situation and had gone above and beyond to arrange visa for him immediately.

This is my very first experience at Melbourne consulate which turned out to be the best one. My issue was handled by Suma Ma'am extremely carefully. I am very thankful for her help, she kept us informed about how the process would be and expected timelines. Great experience. I have been in talks to Suma regarding my PCC. Suma was really helpful, calm and quite professional. They are only active between 9:30 and 12:30 pm on phone calls and can take few calls to reach them but once you get to them, they are quite good. I applied my for my OCI though vfs global and contacted Consulate through email to speed up the process. The response was quick and consular Prabath contacted us herself on multiple occasions wherever their is change in the status of application and provided right advice and expectations. Finally the collection at Consular was arranged and it was quick too with minimum wait because of queue.

I had an occasion to visit the Melbourne consulate on what appeared to be a complicated issue. I was pleasantly surprised that the matter was handled efficiently, effectively and speedily in a most amiable way by Ms.Sumalata Nair and her superior (whose name I did not get). It's been a month since I've been trying to get the Indian Consulate General to verify my driving licence, but nothing is working out because they aren't responding to my emails. its the indian people and community who buy the fake certificates from india and provide it to the consulate with false information and fake certificates to travel on emergency basis. however, its the consulate duty to verify from their end whether the information is true or not with detail information and proof of additional documents.

Very good service. Consulate staff understand the requirements of the individual state’s pension life certificate and signed the documents as per AP state’s life certificate. Not much waiting. I forgot to take the copy of mum’s passport and they helped me in getting a photo copy of the passport.
