I went there yesterday to Notarize a Power of Attorney to send Guyana which is needed urgently for a transaction. It took my 2 1/2 hours to get there only to be told that they accept power of attorney before 2:00 pm. Mind you when I called to find out the charges and opening hours no one told me they had a shut off time. Online the opening hours are from 9:00-4:00 pm I got there by 2:05 and was asked to sit and wait by 2:40 I was told to come back on Monday since the Notary gone to collect her child. I express the urgency of this document and told the desk clerk that I don't mind waiting and then suddenly the Notary had a meeting and will not be back. So this means another day off and 5 hours of travel time for me again. Somebody needs to do something about this since i was not the only one there that was turned away. 5 years later !!! Title: Exceptional Service Experience on Recent Visit Review: I recently visited this establishment once more, albeit for a totally different purpose, and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the service I received this time around. Having had a not-so-positive experience on my previous visit, I was initially a little apprehensive. However, the staff more than made up for it during this visit. Upon my arrival, I was warmly greeted by a courteous and professional front desk staff member, who efficiently handled my requirements. The staff member showed a high level of dedication, efficiency and customer service acumen that truly exceeded my expectations. It was evident that they genuinely cared about my needs and went above and beyond to ensure a smooth and timely resolution. Despite the complex nature of my request, the staff demonstrated exceptional expertise and guided me through the process in a clear and concise manner. Their knowledge and professionalism instilled confidence and made me feel at ease. Moreover, the timeliness of the service was notably improved from my previous experience. All tasks were promptly executed and my time was valued, which was truly appreciated. There were no delays and everything was perfectly organized, allowing me to finish my task in record time. This experience has certainly changed my perspective about the establishment. I am impressed with the significant improvement in service quality and efficiency. Their effort to rectify past issues and ensure customer satisfaction has not gone unnoticed and is highly appreciated. I hope this standard of service continues to be upheld, as this was a vastly different experience than my last visit. This time, I was not just a customer, but a valued guest whose satisfaction was their top priority. I would certainly recommend them for their professionalism, efficiency and commitment to providing an excellent customer service experience.

Unresponsive to Clients Email and Requests in an Emergency Situation. Guyana Consulate doesn’t answer their phones and surely don’t care to respond to emails. I've already consulted with receptionist Lorraine on Nov 15th, 2022 and I've been told the same thing that I've told from the when I applied for the new passport and surrendered my current passport on August 22, 2022 that it will take up to a year or more, due to some shortage of material to complete the passport. However, I found out that this is not 100% true by asking other citizens living in Guyana who confirmed that they’re getting New Passports in Less than a month, Lorraine said to me that it's a one off situation and asked me if I know someone at Guyana Passport Office? I didn't understand what she meant by that. But, I feel like this process is not handled in a professional manner and when I have questions about my passport there's this excuse about material shortage just to delay the processing time for persons who's living in Canada and shows no remorse to persons who need of their passport for an emergency situation to Travel outside of the country. It's unfair and frustrating to me as a customer who paid the Guyana Consulate in Toronto for their service is a disappointment hearing from fellow Guyanese that they're getting their new passports recently applied way after me. So what is it really? I'm confused, Is my application for the a passport renewal not as important as other Guyanese who’s getting theirs no problem? How can I expedite this process in case of an emergency? Who do I need to have this conversation with? Why is Grace Joseph not responding to my email? I need more transparency from the Guyana Passport office and the Guyana Consulate here in Toronto. If you’re not responding to emails, then you can respond here.

This Consulate takes 8 weeks plus to have a Guyana Passport done. When there is international express courier and services that can allow them to send out a batch of passports frequently to Guyana for processing , there is still no excuse as to why they have to keep someone's passport for this long. Should an emergency happen that required travel, the individual is left trapped without a way to get to Guyana if they are a PR and does not hold Canadian Citizenship. The Telephone Operator has a rude attitude and should not be at a forum to speak to people. They lack proper manners and respect for their fellow Guyanese. To wait 2 months to recieve a passport renewal in 2019 is a shame. They charge a fee of $90 CAD, not forgetting the time to go to the consulate's office especially if you live in another city of Ontario or another province. I called after 5 weeks just to check what the status of my passport was only to be told that it has not left their office in Scarborough as yet. While I was in Guyana for 5 days I tried to renew my passport which was within the 6 months of expiry however they said that they cannot have an expedited renewal, mind you I was right there and was willing to go back within 3 days to uplift it .I was told that I can see an officer and pay a hefty amount to get it done faster. I didn't want to encourage this so I had to return and apply for it here in Toronto. Unreal.

They don't deserve a single star!!! The only reason I clicked the one star is because the site doesn't allow to post a review unless you click at least one star :( :( :( The employees at this consulate are a disservice and dishonor to Guyana! Obviously none of them are competent, or trained in representing, or providing the service they are supposed to provide to their countrymen. Information on their website does not match what they tell you on the phone - if you get through to someone -, nor in person when you get there. Quite clearly they are focused on being rude, providing bad information, wasting your time, and being very inconsiderate of your needs. - I heard that bribing them works to get anything - I didn't believe it at first, but sadly it appears that it's disgracefully true :( Anyone knows who in Guyana we need to contact to request revamping this consulate with educated people who each also have a heart?

During the pandemic, I would expect someone to answer during work hours listed on the website or on your answering service to direct our calls appropriately. Even to explained how the process is going to work based on our inquiries if a person does answer. I don't expect you to be in the office especially though these trying times, however at least directions for help being clear and calls return in appropriate times is not much to ask. I can't imagine what the elderly has to go through by calling constantly and hoping someone answer each time. This can be frustrating for anyone. You are providing a Government service and should be readily accessible. I must say though, once you get through, the appointments are easily booked and handled with ease. Please work on the getting in touch portion! That would be the Canadian Guyanese customer service thing to do!

People working here are probably the most incompetent, rude individuals I have ever met. They take their time when doing even the most simple tasks, they're texting on their phones, talking to each other, it takes forever to get a photocopy of a form that they make YOU fill out. But they also give out your personal information to others! The old grumpy guy thats always working there gave out my form, with my home address, telephone, NIS number, name, email, signature, finger print everything to another person! When I asked where my form was, he said he gave it to someone else, fill out another one. No sorry, no "I'll try to fix this and recover your information" Then he tried to blame it on me, saying its my fault, and who cares what can someone do with just an address? The most unprofessional, incompetent, rude bunch of people working there.

I don't agree with the comments on this page. The best experience I have had with Guyanese government services was right at the Guyana consulate in Toronto. The staff really do go above and beyond in there, and the hospitality is on point. They do couriers to Guyana with passport applications, and once to accommodate the speedy issuance of my passport a consulate staff agreed to meet with me earlier than standard hours at the consulate to receive and finalize my application so it can get down to Guyana that day. Notwithstanding all the work they are doing on social media, communicating to Guyanese and keeping the diaspora up to date on matters in Guyana. So, I think the Guyana consulate is an unsung hero in terms of the work they do for Guyanese and Guyana and more merit should be provided to them on this page. Happy to commend them further.

Guyana consulate, its has been 5 months since I sent my passport to be renewed. I have been calling since Friday and no answers to my phone calls. My relative has passed away and I have no way to travel to say my last goodbye, because of the delay of my passport. It is so unfair that i have to wait 5 months for my passport. The guyana government should start processing Guyana passport here in canada. As its a waste of time and lack of professionalism from the passport office in Guyana. Passport were only supposed to take 8 to 12 weeks as I was told not 5months. What a disappointment.!!

  • Patricia

Very disappointed with the communication and customer service of this office which is unprofessional and does not value people time.spoke to them over the phone they tell you to bing 1 sets of documents and when you arrived at the office to find out that SAID DOCUMENT that they told you to bring does not work. It’s either the team is lack of proper training or the make up there own rules as they go. This is CANADA NOT GUYANA so your mentally needs to change and there is no room for these errors.

  • Bibi Baksh

I do not like the idea of having guyana consulate in canada and i have to go on line to renew the guyana passport. Honestly what about the older people who do not know how to work a computer would you not think it will be very difficult for them to apply.Just think for a moment how difficult this would be. I am requesting for the consulate general to have the system by going into the office and have the passport done. Please look into this matter. Thanks. Bibi

The most trash service they should hire people who know how to do their jobs correctly I called ahead of time to make sure i could get what i went for but when i arrived they came up with the most random stupid excuses and wasted 6 hours of my time and money i would give -10 stars if i had the option

I called in to the Consulate and left a message and not even 5 minutes I got a call back I spoke to a very polite young Lady Ms L. She give me all the information I need. I personally never had a problem with the staff at the consulate. Thank you Ms. L. Keep up the good work.

  • Zaman Ali

Tried several times for days to get a hold of someone and no one answering, which lead me to believe no one working there, but yet the message read "someone would be able to answer your call between 9 - 12" This place needs to revamp and placed customer focused people there.
