"We were there for the night parade in April"
My wife and I went to Pride 2022 at Crockett Park today. We had a great time overall. That being said, we parked in the SACC parking garage for $10; very reasonable. There were lots gouging people for $25 to $30 for parking. The line to get in was LONG, all the way around the block by 11:00 am. It moved fast enough. Once we were in, we found a great place to set up our chairs in the shade. A little group next to us brought a hammock & hanging chair they attached to the trees; awesome idea! Pride has doubled in size over the last few years. So many vendors giving away freebies & info about their group, company, or organization. Surprisingly, very few vendors selling Pride stuff, crafts, or anything fun. Food & drinks were pretty affordable; $5-$6 for beer, $2 for soda & water, $5-$10 for a small assortment of food. I think the slim pickings of all vendors was because this is the first year Pride has been held since the cancellations for COVID. Out of all of the vendor spaces, probably 25% were empty. The entertainment was pretty good this year; some better than others. Lol. There was a long cooling area made up of 3 shade covers with misters. Only 1 of the misting sections was working. It was at least 100* today; I wish they had made it more of a priority to get them functioning. It was still pet friendly, we brought our 2 little dogs. They enjoyed all the extra attention from people & socializing with the other dogs. To end the day, there was the Pride parade. It was the biggest Pride parade I’ve seen in all the years we’ve attended. I remember when it was just a few drag queens and a couple of organizations dancing through the street & tossing out beads & candy. There were so many participants in this parade! A variety of organizations, many politicians, a marching band, performers, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, city departments, retail companies, inclusive churches; it was probably 2 hours long. Worth every minute, so much fun, positive energy! Last, but not least; I only saw 1 homophobic so-called “Christian” spreading hate and judgement this year; such a huge change compared to previous years. It was a relief & made it feel much safer. Oh! I almost forgot. The costumes and different styles made for great people watching!
Helping to set up event for the annual beer fest. I must say, there is an incredible amount of work that vendors, park emoyees... must do in order to bring to the public a one day festival to enjoy, have fun, relax ,so everyone who has the opportunity to attend, please do. This supports our local community, independent establishments and more. Some events, such as beer fest is not suitable for those under 21 years of age, this one is for the grown ups .
Restrooms
During events and festivals. Porta-potties are available, clean and well maintained.
Dog-friendliness
Bring your scooper with you.
Picnic area
Not as much shade here as other parks, but still great for sitting on the ground picnics.
This area park is very easy to take a morning walk/run. Although a little busy in the mornings bc of the hospital. It is peaceful and beautiful scenery. Very clean and kept nice and mowed, lol
Playground
Small playground area is clean and has a tarp to keep the sun not shining too bright on equipment.
Dog-friendliness
Very good for your pet to run, execrcise and thrive. There are bags available in certain areas of the park, which is very accomodating.
Picnic area
Smal picnic area, but has a little gazebo which can be used for pictures. Cute and quaint. A great area all around to enjoy different sports with family or just a leisurely walk by yourself.
Nice neighborhood City Of San Antonio Park that is well maintained judgment based on 4 visits over last 5 months. There are interesting architectural examples and we'll maintained ones in the surrounding neighborhood about Crockett Square. This park is suitable for children With parental supervision. Although the Park is well lighted, I believe it's closed from sunset to sunrise. I didn't notice jungle gymns, swings or seesaw; there are picnic tables and trash recepticals scattered about. Unfortunately there are neither water fountains nor public restrooms. Bring water with you. Peace ✌️ Brian Bruce
We were there for the night parade in April. It was a beautiful night. Lots of people, friendly too. The bleacher seats were chaotic, uncomfortable and crowded. There were people that were sitting in our designated area. And there was nobody there to complain to. Also getting up the bleachers was a pain. There wasn't an isle set aside for people to use to go up and down. So if you had to use the bathroom or get some food, you almost had to climb over people and hope you didn't fall.
I bring my toddlers here on weekends and have been for awhile. Its not usually crowded and they have a nice dog park across Main and a lawn. Theres usually a portable RR on weekends. Pretty basic playground, no shade, very few seating options. I've always found it clean, graffiti free and equipment in good working order, which is a huge success for a downtown area park. I wish they had toddler swings, but we make do. Bring refreshments, as the closest restaurant is a bar. :)
We rented it for my wedding. The grass was overgrown, the trees were blocking the gazebo, there were homeless ppl who wouldn't move n were throwing up everywhere during my wedding, crowds kept walking thru my wedding despite seeing it going on n being asked to walk around. It was the worst choice EVER!! If they are going to rent it to ppl for this and for 2hrs they need to have someone there to help with the crowds n to move ppl. Seriously horrible!!
We were here for Fiesta Flambeau parade for the new route. Parking was challenging, but the event went off beautifully! I am not sure people understand how unique this event is nationally! It is a lot of great family fun, very safe and well attended with all of the treats. Thanks to all responsible for this event! Truly a family favorite!
Well we have our loved one in the Methodist hospital right across this park and it's so very nice to go and sit down and relax your mind for a little while and also to have a little snack with your family or even take a morning cup of coffee it is very peaceful very clean but just they don't have no restrooms thank you very much
Park covers 2 city blocks. Very underused. Interesting art deco highrise on the west. There's a gazebo and the Davy Crockett bust on the west side and gardens and a nice small playground on the east side. Unfortunately many recently-planted trees weren't cared for during the drought and they are now dead.
Kids play area pretty nice in if kids are still young. Or we try good for my 3 yr old nephew. But parking is horrible and I got a parking ticket even thought there was no sign that says no parking. And in the way home ( a total of 5 blocks from my apt To park) u had a car accident . Sorry bad day.
Stopped to have a picnic with my family because it was close to where we were. Crockett Park is a small party bisected by Main Ave. There are not many picnic tables, the one we found in the shade was missing one of the seats. There was not really a reason to linger, so we ate our food and left.
I absolutely love this Park so much! It has everything you need from swings and slides to a jungle gym and even a little prayer Trail section and continues on the other side of Main st. with a gazebo. Usually the Gazebo shows up with some bums though but they're of no harm most of the time.
Crockett park is such a lovely place to gather with friends and family. Every year people gather to celebrate San Antonio Pride with a festival and parade and Crockett Park is the primary meeting grounds. Other than SA Pride, Crockett Park can be a very quiet and enjoyable time.
I live across the street in the Aurora apartments and see all kinds of things happening at the park but I would highly advise people with children to stay away from the Park area where the Gazebo is especially don't pick up the Rocks around gazebo as men tend to urinate there
Took my friend to his doctor's appt n waited at park...no problem parking...full of shade ..very CLEAN, great park for kids, right by San ANTONIO COLLEGE..restaurants near by..got Bill Miller's n ate there while i waited.....great job San Antonio the community will ENJOY it
We really enjoyed the Battle of the Flowers Parade with the family during Fiesta. It was a good day not hot. Bleachers could of been better not very safe for older people. No steps to get up so it was gard for older people to get to the first level. Do better San Antonio.
Two playgrounds, one for 2-5 year old and another for 5-12. Two regular swings (no bucket seat swings for babies/toddlers). Playground has rubber padding. Plenty of benches and picnic tables. Free street parking. Just a couple blocks from Metropolitan Methodist Hospital.
This place doesn't really count as a park in my opinion. It is basically a gazebo with some benches around it. It was clean and had palm trees all around which made it a pleasant place to visit. This would be a nice place to take a picnic with your family.
This park was clean and we were the only people there on a Saturday afternoon. This park boasts swings and a gymnasium for the kiddos, as well as green space and gazebos. It’s near some tasty eateries. Despite being downtown, bum traffic was nonexistent.
Macy's has always been the store that Mother use to take me when I was a little boy,She would always say to me,Now just this place because they have real class and this place will be the top of the line, you just mark my words.
We took our daughter to Crockett Park on our vacation to San Antonio and she had a great time. We played frisbee and then had a picnic. I also was able to teach her some of Texas History and about Davy Crockett and the Alamo.
I have never been to Crockett Park until a few days ago this was my first time there and it was for Pride SA i was so glad i made it out a true memory I'm never going to forget and I'm never missing another pride
Its simple, fresh, and has a variety of people to just watch or interact with. Theres a lot of shade and its kind of a hub for anyone new to the bus system to get just about anywhere they need to , in San Antonio
We went for Beerfest and it was very enjoyable. Sadly, this park lost quite a few trees to the drought this past year, so it's getting a little low on shade .. i hope the city replants. More
It's a great park, but I really wish there was a fence between the playground and the road. Also, it needs a bathroom. Why do park designers seem to think kids and parents don't need to pee?
It is a very clean and very quiet place to take the children, the only problem is that there is not much space to park and I think that is the reason why it is a very quiet place …
Visited for beerfest 2022. Park is a relatively common city park space. Open with little shade, but convenient if you have an umbrella or catch it in the cooler times of the year.
Great place for the whole family with kids while mom or dad attend to any appointments or business in north downtown area . Make your wait time ; into play time . At no expense .
Nice clean park with a playground, benches, picnic tables and a gazebo. No bathrooms and no parking. We walked up with the kids while waiting to be seated at Lulu's Cafe.
This is a small public park in front of our apartment building. It is peaceful, lots of shade trees, has a small gazebo in the center and benches & picnic tables
Took my 9 year old . Weather was cool and crisp. Nobody was at the park. Abt 1pm on Friday afternoon. Very clean. Awesome equipment. She loved it. Pretty park.
Had a nice time at the playground with my grandson Kaelob. He wasn't allowed in the doctor office do to them not letting young children in the waiting room.
Reason for okay is parking. You have to drive around and hopefully find a place close enough to park and then cross street(s) to walk to Crockett Park.
Disappointed went for Pride had to pay to get in and pay for anything else to and it was super hot with not much shade or misters going!
Had a great time with friends down here for SA Beer fest!!! Awesome band and great drinks. Pretty nice park to host an event like this.
Pretty nice park for different events. Go there late on a regular day can be a little uncomfortable. Other then that, nice park
Clean park. Lots of space for kiddos to run around. There were a few benches throughout were you could sit and have lunch etc.
Very quiet and relaxing park. Mostly utilized by hospital staff and patrons. Safe park even at night.very police presence.
Nice location near downtown San Antonio, close to San Antonio College. Great place to hold festivals throughout the year.
The 2021 Beer Fest was here. The separate lines (VIP & Gen admit) made getting in a lot smoother. It was a good day.
It has playground equipment and swings. It doesn't have a restroom facility, water fountain, and parking is scarce.
Nice small block park to eat lunch, have a picnic or just hang out. Lots of shade to cool off. Take a break here.
Its an open park with a gazebo in the middle couple of tables but that's about it. Just alot of open space.
Had a blast at PRIDEfest. The park is a little small for the crowd, but the crowd was bigger than ever!
Outlet wasnt there so i can charge my phone, besides that i think homeless people trashed the place up
It's a very small park but nice to have lunch here. There are lots of homeless people around though.
Nice place surrounded by architecture galore in the homes. A few homeless but they dont pan handle.
Attended SA Beerfest. Big turnout, lg variety of breweries to sample, food, etc Well organized...
Decent size park. Everytime we have visited it's never too busy. Few benches to sit, no restrooms
Vagrants were sleeping on the benches. We sat on the grass and ate our snacks. They left us alone
great place for beer fest. ..way better than dignowity park. do it here again in '23, please.
This is a great park to take you're little one's to ! Nice , clean & alot of lighting as well
They don't answer the phone. They take more than a hour to get your order. And they are rude.
Very delicious food & the Pork chops are giant flavorful surprise's plate or taco 10 Stars
While there are homeless people who hang out here it is a peaceful park to walk my dog.
Nice park in the middle of everything. Watch out for the roaming homeless individuals.
I can't tell you how this park was we didn't visit we just sat and waited for the bus
This is really just a walkthrough space. Not enough trees. They do hold events here.
It's decent but sometimes there are random homeless people sleeping on the benches.
Pride was the best here!!! Really the park has everything you need for any event.
Great Park, there is just no restrooms near by. So we had to cut our trip short.
Perfect bleacher seats for the 2022 Battle of Flowers Parade! …
Nice and clean. I would not take my kids here. Too many vagrant people. Sorry.
Great place to wander and rest im theor beautiful gazebo while doing Munzee.
Love this spot. Always clean, can feed ducks and it does not sink out there
Excellent spot to sit by the creek and enjoy a nap on the large flat rocks.
A wonderful place for children and a romantic place as well in the evening
Compared to my memories as a child, this park only continues to get nicer
Beautiful peaceful park great to bring out the family, police in the area.
Lots of shade. Great place to have the Pride Bigger then Texas Festival.
nice place to chill at... while being at the hospital down the street
A great playscape. Our granddaughter loves it. She calls it her park!
it's so peaceful... beautiful flowers well taken care of landscape...
It was great! I would bring my girls now I take my granddaughter now.
Nice park by hospital place to walk a little and gather your thoughts
Nice little park during the day to take a walk to get some exercise.
Very quiet n very bice playground Only bad thing is theres no parkin
Crockett Park is a great City community park to have great events!
Nice place to hang out. Fun playground for kids with padded floor.
It's tranquil in the morning. Almost no one around and it's clean.
Easter Sunday San Antonio City Employee working picking up trash
It's a very nice park.. but half the fountains weren't working
I went to the pride fastival here in the past 2 years very fun
Went here for Pride and had a great time. The park is lovely!
Very open, but still had plenty of trees to provide shade.
Hooray for Siclovia ;) nice playground too for the ninos.
Went for pride. It is a big park and my family enjoyed it
Been recently good park homeless there though be careful
Took my grandkids they had a ball out there we loved it
Not much to this park. Lots of homeless hanging around.
Cool place brings back memories ! Needs better lights.
Nice quiet park to enjoy a walk or just to have lunch
Fun, simple and clean park. My son had a great time.
Love the homeless guy living there he's vary nice
It’s dingy and coke baggies all in the grass LOL
It's nice but it's hard to find a parking space
