Fantastic pub, one which I would actually call a pub. Comfortable surroundings and clean, nice crowd and good music which is loud enough to hear but not too loud to spoil a conversation. Gets lively of an evening which is ok if you're younger. I've been here at both times and never seen any trouble or had a bad experience. Food is excellent and there are several vegetarian options, the curry was really tasty and generously sized and the pie and chips really good too (both vegetarian). Old school puddings, apple crumble and jam sponge, amongst others, are there too if you have room! Great staff who are very friendly, efficient and welcoming. If you're in the area pop in for a drink and some food, you definitely won't be disappointed. One of better pubs I have visited!

What a pleasant surprise! I popped into a pub on a busy Friday with a rumbling belly and low expectations on choice and value. How wrong was I, the Crumpled Horn exceeded all my expectations. The menu choice was exceptional and had dishes to suit any pocket. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and nearly thought I was in the local Indian restaurant. The side dishes were all tasty and well flavoured and added to a meal I was already impressed with. My server - Abbeygail - was very polite, friendly, knowledgeable and nothing was to much trouble. She regularly checked if anything else was needed and for it being busy, I was not left waiting for anything. The overall, service was fantastic and I will be returning soon.

First time in Upminster, came here on Tuesday after being in the park opposite. Ordered drinks & food on the app, the bar staff didn't even know they had orders come through. Sat waiting at table for 10 minutes waiting for drinks in a fairly empty pub. Bar staff was very rude when asked where drinks were. Again, the same happened with food, sitting there waiting with a hungry 5 year old and food didn't show up until had to go up to ask! Only positive was the pie was yummy and the food was actually hot

Been through Upminster many times ..Be a great idea to visit for a lunch time I thought. This pub seemed ideal. I love Aperol Spritz as a drink and as a special occasion thought I'd have one here. At OVER £10 ..And the drink was SO weak!!! Having spoken to barman it appears that is how this is served here....Basically lots of soda then prosecco with a HINT of Aperol!!! Na!! At that price so watered down was rubbish!! A few ladies near us complaining about their lunch too.....All in all they've made their OWN version of a good cocktail and ripped us off!!!

We had a fantastic time at The Crumpled Horn. It's such a welcoming, inclusive, and friendly place, which is the way pubs should be. There's room for everyone, but it's also very family oriented which is ideal for us. We all felt very at home, the atmosphere was lovely, and my 3 year old delighted everyone with her dancing to the live music during a traditional Cockney knees-up! The food was seasonal and delicious, and Russ and the team were absolutely lovely and couldn't have been more accommodating.

My wife and I have visited the Crumpled Horn every week for (except for covid restrictions) for over five years. Recently the service has gone down. At one time a server would take your order at the table, last time we had to go up to the bar to be told there were no mixed grills, or steaks. This is happening on a regular scale, so much so we have decided to give the Crumpled Horn a miss. Last summer on three occasions food was unavailable as they had no chef. Rarely on a Monday is there a full menu.

Terribly understaffed, huge queue at the bar, and bar staff didn't appear to be in any kind of a rush. Saturday night, 2 people serving, 30 people waiting ages and ages. Would take a lot more money with better service, management and some staff. No different from last visit sadly. Waited, saw it was hopeless getting served and left. Brewdog highly recommended, packed, and served within a minute, plenty of staff, moving with some sense of urgency

Recently went to a drag event. Table not set up when arrived, no welcome drink as advertised. Staff moaning saying they are over stretched and worn out, one waitress said one employee had just recently walked out she had enough doing long hours and no breaks. Only 2 people attending the bar so service was extremely slow. Towards end of event a few what looked liked under age people came in no one was challenged but just served. I felt like I was back at school...

Unbelievable! beyond belief! Today's experience lunchtime Sunday roast was a waste. Told @ the time of ordering the price increased. The length of time before my dad & I got our Sunday roast dinners. Then when asked how is the food & then said not satisfactory the waiter not happy with our dissatisfaction of below standard. Two dissatisfied customers. We won't be going back there for food.

The bar girl was slobbering all over a dog and then without any attempt to wash her hands started pulling me a pint of Marston's bitter. I find this unacceptable. This place has gone to the dogs. And the pounding execrable music is hard to suffer. I presume that this tripe is piped from head office. How about introducing a juke box where we can manufacture a proper evening's listening rather than the ear sores we have to currently endure.;

  • Robert Marley

I have frequented this pub for many years, took a break for a while but since visiting again in the recent year or so the atmosphere has flourished. Better vibes, better music, better atmosphere. Great beers and the staff are golden. Have been served by a barmaid called Megan lately and I was pleased as I remember her from years ago working there, her customer service is just as excellent. Highly recommend the crump as a pub!

  • Cherrelle Hinds-Swaby

Staff and clientele are very welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately, the food didn't meet our expectations. Portion sizes were very small for a pub lunch. Two members of our group who shared each others food, were very ill the next day. The child had to have a few days off school. It's a shame, because if the food matched the atmosphere, it would be a highly recommended venue....Thanks to all staff for making us welcome.

  • Laurence Goodacre

Went to try the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich but was left feeling a little underwhelmed. Good selection of food on the premises, however. The drinks again have a great selection but are very pricy for the location (£11 for a lemonade and gin and tonic). The service was also pretty slow for a single meal but it was a Monday afternoon!

For a Marston's the food is amazing. The waitress/server was very friendly and the landlord/manager was knowledge on the offers. We came 9n for my wife's birthday and thought it was fantastic . Will come back the burger offer was amazing and the music was very good. Offers on cocktails If you have a family come here it's very nice.

Had the chicken and waffle, which elsewhere was delicious, so I decided to try it here. A couple of hours after leaving, I was throwing up constantly, and out came the chicken and waffle. One of the worst experiences of my life, and I will be avoiding this pub for the rest of my life, thanks to the horrible experience it gave me. And to top it all of, any time I think of waffles, I start to feel really sick.

Beer was great, food wasnt so good. Wanted steak, didnt have any so ordered a burger. Arrived within no time of ordering, which isnt always a good thing! Chips were lovely, but the burger meat was poor quality! Said came with 2 3oz burgers came with 1. Literally ate it because I was hungry otherwise would have sent it bk! Bar staff were friendly enough, but need to sort out your menu and get some stock!

  • Julie Walker

Visited the last Saturday in March with a group of friends. The atmosphere was very friendly, the service of manager & staff outstanding. Meant to leave early evening but ended up staying, as the entertainment was so good!...the food was lovely. In fact, the whole event was that good, we all came back the following Saturday to celebrate a birthday, all just as good & I'm sure we'll be back again soon!

  • Gavin Stanley

Incredibly polite, friendly and efficient service from Megs. Ordered a long list of drinks and it was served with a smile, quickly and in a welcoming manner. Sometimes a long list of drinks can be seen as a nuisance and received with a frown rather than the smile we got. Our group will certainly be returning based on this service.

We went to the Crumpled Horn for a charity quiz night, it was the first time we'd been to the pub, and it was an excellent experience. There was an excellent selection of drinks, and the staff helped to create a lively and friendly atmosphere. The quiz host, Russ (the landlord) was also excellent, making sure the quiz was enjoyable for all. We would absolutely recommend the Crumpled Horn

  • michael michaels

Quiz note to raise funds for a local deer rescue charity. Well deserved. I was using "the men's loo",two guys came in and went into the cubicle and then a guy at the urinal went a joined them. This is not the usual situation in a pub toilet, but maybe in upminster it maybe a norm!! Weird!

Went here Sunday in a party of 9 people for lunch and had absolutely no complaints whatsoever. The food was good and the service was amazing the place was packed and you could see that our waitress was ran off her feet but she was so professional and kept smiling throughout from start to finish.Didn't catch her name but she's a credit to the company.

  • Andrew Britton

Has gone down hill over the past 2 years. Food looks good on the menu and when served but its quickly apparent that the quality is poor. Pie is microwaved so the pastry on top is soggy but rock hard on the bottom. Burger meat tastes like those cheap tinned burgers (westlers). Only thing that scores them 2 stars is the good friendly service.

  • M F

Was here to meet some old work friends. We were there from lunchtime until 21:00ish when it started to get a lot more busy. Good drinks at a reasonable price, didn't try the food personally but people were buying it and seemed happy. Definitely be back for another catch up. Staff were excellent and had a good sense of humour.

I had a sunday roast and it was OMG fantastic, the kids ate all their dinner and said it was better then mine.

  • Ray o'brien

Very friendly staff, place is kept to a highest of standards for cleanliness and hygiene. Plenty of car parking and seating area. It can be a little slow during busy hours and I've known the queue to go outside the door but the staff do an amazing job, so please prepare to be patient at times

  • Thomas Davis

Sharing a pint or two with friends not seen since this craziness started, on a lovely sunny evening was wonderful. Staff, as normal, welcoming friendly and hard working, the lady could have done with a helping hand, but these are strange times. Will definitely be going back for more

  • Francisco Cánovas García

Avoid like the plague. I waited for 10 mins at the bar, the waiter staring at me and then he starts to put the glasses away rather than asking for my order. Then he looks at me in the eye and take other people’s order who just arrived. Terrible service!!! You really had one job… …

  • Linda Presland

I've eaten at The Crumpled Horn several times in recent years and enjoyed the food and drink at all times. The service and attitude of the staff is brilliant A varied menu and reasonably priced, coupled with brilliant table service given. Ďefinately a regular visit for me …

  • Pete Davis

Always lively on a weekend but generally caters for the more mature crowd so never any issues. Maybe it's my age but it's refreshing to be able to speak to people you're out with rather than trying to compete with loud music. Get there early if you want a seat.

  • V

My friends and I come to The Crumpled Horn every Tuesday to participate in the pub quiz (team Bond Villain Minions) and have been regular since 2018. Every week we recieve excellent service from friendly, welcoming, warm staff (especially Stewart and Katie).

  • Flowers 1997

Absolutely love this pub. Since the new chef has came in the food has been exceptionally good! My hubby always raves about how good the Guinness is here also. Staff are really helpful and always cleaning which is amazing to see! Well done to the management!

  • Frances Winch

First time visiting this venue. The staff were absolutely delightful. The food was of excellent quality and piping hot. A rarity these days. The wine and beer also of excellent quality. Will certainly be returning. A thoroughly enjoyable lunch time outing

  • Mahalia Taylor

It was extremely busy when I visited which caused an extremely slow service, however, I think that's due to the amount of Christmas parties. I'm still rating it highly because when the food did come, it was quite nice and they have so many vegan options!

  • Dave Harris

I used to visit many years ago, just after it first opened and it was a good pub. I have managed to get back to the area and have visited it a few times over the last several weeks. Still a good pub with very friendly staff. Definitely worth visiting.

  • Sarah Dee

Been here a couple of times since they reopened. The food is really nice & the staff are all lovely & very friendly. They have all the necessary Covid procedures in place as well, so I feel very safe coming here & I'm looking forward to my next visit.

  • Rachel Barham

Lovely place to socialise, there's a quiz on a Tuesday which is great fun, and the menu is great - love the specials (just had a black forest sponge that was amazing). Staff are all amazing, especially Kaeti who hosts the quiz. A great night out.

  • James Whiting

Ordered Burger and chips, had to wait ages for it, when you bit into it the fat poured out of the burger and the chips were rubbery like they had been cooked twice. Chip portion was kid size thank goodness! Would never eat here again. Avoid!!!

Any last morsel of Christmas cheer is sucked out of you after queuing for 40 mins to get a pint in a plastic cup. The bar is clearly unable to manage the crowds. Avoid. (You can see how happy the customers are on Xmas eve)

One of the busiest pubs in Upminster and we would probably come a bit more often if it wasn't so busy and noisy. If it starts to quieten down some more, we might come back. Until then we'll probably go to The Crane.

  • Elaine Filipiak

The Crumpled Horn was a lovely place to drink but now looks like a Cafe with the stainless steel chairs on the upper level. Staffing seems to be a problem now never enough staff on. Very disappointing.

  • steve

We go for a charity quiz once a month. The staff work incredibly hard and do a great job putting on food for 100 people at a very reasonable price that enables the charities to raise funds. Thank you.

  • Graham Parker

Great little pub, service is always quick and friendly! Just wish there were a few more options in the beer department, it's very much focused on lager! Wouldn't mind a few craft beers, even in cans.

  • Brian Fernandes

Great friendly service from the elderly but incredibly sprightly lady who served us. She puts many younger people to shame. The food was just what we wanted, cheap at £7 each but satiated our hunger.

  • Vic Ken
