Gym itself is fine equipment wise. I’ve been a member for half a year now. This location is my least favorite. I forgot my lock today which I haven’t before. It’s pouring rain out and I live a mile away but this is the closest location to me. I realize I forgot my lock once I’m there. The lady at the front was extremely rude. She told me that I can only purchase a lock and they don’t have any I can borrow totally understand I explained the situation while she was on her phone scrolling and she didn’t care at all. The first day I went to the gym when I enrolled they let me borrow lock for the day. She told me they don’t do that here despite literally having done it when I first joined. Seems like once they have your money they don’t care about being helpful. Insane it’s 100 a month. If you have money for a gym go to equinox. This is barely a step up from planet fitness despite the major price difference
I don’t write reviews often but would like to warn you all of this place. Beware of aggressive trainers who will make you feel uncomfortable. They are bored and will stand around and prey upon you. They will try to sell you something or just try to make conversation. One trainer in particular would follow me around every day and tap me on the shoulder mid workout or hit me with a towel to try and get my attention. I spoke with management twice and finally decided to cancel my membership because I couldn’t stand walking in every day feeling like I needed to hide. Being harassed daily in the street in NYC is already enough and the gym should be a safe space. I decided to join a new gym that is a little over my budget and a further walk from my apartment in order to get away. At this new gym I realized that trainers are not supposed to be hunting you 24/7.
Do not join this gym. They are unethical and should not be trusted. Are the instructors good, yes. I joined in 2001 and enjoyed their services for 20 years until Covid hit then they charged me for a number of months when I couldn’t use the gym, then they raised my rates more than they were supposed to. When they left 25 Broadway in 2008 I believe it was they moved in the middle of the night and left their creditors out to dry. I should have known that this relationship would end with something similar with me. I cancelled my membership in February and they charged me in March again for one last payment. I never agreed to this and they just don’t care. I have filed with the BBB. Their rule was instituted well after I joined. Pick another gym their corporate people are just not worth the eventual pain they will cause you.
THANK YOU , TO THE REPRESENTATIVES LINDSEY FOR SHOWING MY NEPHEW AND ME AROUND AND EXPLAINING , EXACTLY HOW THE GYM IS RUN, YOU SHOWED US THE UTMOST RESPECT, EXPLAIN EVERY DETAIL DOWN TO A T.. THE LOCKER ROOM IS NICE AND SPACIOUS, ALL THE EQUIPMENT IS NOT ONLY NICE BUT VERY WELL SPACED OUT, I LOVE HOW MANY STRETCH AREAS ARE AVAILABLE WITH THAT ALSO BEING PLENTY OF ROOM TO MOVE, PEOPLE HERE ARE FRIENDLY AND NICE... THE AREA IS LOCATED NEXT TO UNION SQUARE TRAIN STATION, 4,5,6,N,R,W,Q, AND L TRAIN AREA HAS PLENTY OF FOOD EATERIES, AS WELL AS A MOVIE THEATER.. OVER ALL THIS PARTICULAR CRUNCH IS VERY NICE, IT IS A LITTLE PRICEY IN COMPARISON TO OTHER FITNESS TRAINING OPTIONS, BUT IF YOU'RE NOT WORRYING ABOUT THAT THEN THIS MIGHT BE A GREAT GYM FOR YOU... THANK YOU CRUNCH MEMBERS...
Too busy This gym is really far too busy, and should look at either expanding and adding more machines or reducing its membership. There have been several times over the past month alone where I have wandered in and then done an about turn and headed straight for Bowery. If you visit on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening then literally EVERYTHING is full. And by EVERYTHING I mean the running machines, weight training room, cycling machines, weight machines… even down to the stretching area. Classes are little better too - needing to be booked well in advance and usually being full to the gills upon arrival. At one yoga class I ended up falling into the person next to me we were so cramped
I entered the gym at 5:30pm on a Thursday and was welcomed by an intense smell of foot, sweat and humidity. This smell was so strong that my nose never adjusted and I was continuously disgusted during my entire workout. Additionally this gym was very crowded and disorganized. Weight training equipment is shoved into any corner it fits with little regard to flow and organization. It was hard to find what I needed since many accessories were randomly scattered around the gym. Lastly, this location suffers from poor gym etiquette with members not de-racking barbells or wiping up after themselves.
Terrible customer service and horrible management. One of the most unfriendly Crunch locations I’ve ever visited. Reception spoke with management, Steve, who was entirely unhelpful. I just moved to New York and they do not honor the trial period if you are an existing crunch member. My membership is based out of state and I wanted to trial the signature location - but you’d think that I’d attempted to rob them with the response I got when asking for a trial. For the cost of the signature membership, you’re better off going to other, better gyms for a similar price.
I'm very happy so far with my experience at Crunch. The facility is vey clean and there is a wide variety of strength training and cardio equipment. Also the staff is very friendly. I was signed up at the Union Square location by Christian who did a great job of listening to what I was looking for and explaining everything Crunch has to offer and why it's the best gym in the area. I've visited a few gyms nearby and Crunch stood out among each of them as being the best choice.
Great gym and clean facility with many amenities. I just don’t think their membership prices are worth it for what they give. It’s like a retro, nysc, blink level gym but priced like it’s equinox. Also I signed up for what should’ve been a 3 day pass but they said I was only allowed one day which didn’t really make any sense. I considered a membership here but that kind of drew a red flag for me. This gym is a shot in the dark in my opinion, tread carefully.
Been a member since October. Really decent gym and my prior membership was honored. Christian (one of the employees) helped me sign up and aided in figuring out a membership that worked for me & my goals. Forever grateful Shoutout Christian. Also Emma ! Great personal trainer and person. Phenomenal and helpful staff all around. Never once felt uncomfortable in this gym & it’s always clean even during peak hours.
I cancelled my gym membership in person before i moved to france. they continue to charge me every month even though I signed papers and it’s on record for both me and them record i have never entered the establishment due to moving in 4 months. They say they can’t do anything because there is no record of me cancelling… although it’s not my responsibility the clerk did not file my paper work. shame on them
This gym is a total win! Two floors packed with all the gear you need – A large range of cardio equipment, machines and free weights. Personal training is on point, and the sauna and showers are a great way to relax after a workout. If you want a fitness spot that's got it all, this is the place. Just be prepared to have to wait for machines as it can be really busy (depending what time you go).
Chris, the GM has gone out of his way to make me feel welcome. He is an overall great guy and he really cares about his members. The trainers are all very friendly and the facility is full of excellent equipment. The price for a membership is very competitive given NYC standards. The facility is very clean also. I highly recommend this location to anyone who is looking for a new gym.
I walked in to get pricing and had to jump through so many hoops just to speak with someone. Took 10 minutes and I still didn’t have an answer. I walked out when the salesman started giving me attitude, and I still didn’t have even a range of what the pricing could be. If they make it so difficult to sign up, I can only imagine what it’s like to cancel a membership here
Good gym. Has all the machines you need. Clean, well-maintained. Friendly staff. Able to move about and get on machines/equipment fairly easily. When busy it’s still manageable. Has classes that come with membership. Stretching space Overpriced like all NYC gyms. I got ?lucky with a promo that gave me the monthly membership for 90/mo.
I have been to a total of 5 Crunch gyms now. The Union Square gym is clearly one of the busiest. With all the traffic, they need to work especially hard to keep it clean . Other than that it is located between the East and West Village, with a variety of things around to spend your money on when your workout is over.
Good club. Sauna needs to be repaired and the sauna floor could be cleaner. Massive problem with sauna rules adherence; dirty outdoor footwear worn by some inconsiderate members, which affects air quality rapidly and is quite dangerous in that regard. Filming, which is illegal, sometimes takes place in the sauna.
Signed up for a gym session online. I was given a range to work out between 9-11am. I showed up at 10:30am and the adviser, Steve, refused to let me workout for my booked time. He demanded I pay an additional 35$ for a day pass or can leave because I was too late. Just a terrible experience would not recommend.
This is, hands down, my favorite gym in the world. Not only do they have all the equipment you’d ever want, but it also is in the heart of Manhattan. Best vibes ever. They also have top trainers with a variety of skill sets. If you can afford to train, they make highly effective programs for any goal.
I already wrote to both a staff/sales team member and the general manager (+1 month ago). To date, I have gotten no reply or even an apology for their rude behavior. Instead of trying to make your “concern” public, you could’ve just look for my name on your inbox….
I gave Crunch fitness a one star due to hospitality. I used to be a crunch trainer a few blocks down at Astor place before the original location closed. Today I was in a rush and desperately needed to use the bathroom. I remember when I was
Previously at Planet Fitness and Blink, Crunch is a huge upgrade to those facilities. I was a little skeptical at first because of the price difference, but the investment has been well worth it. Shoutout to Christian in membership who is
The manager and staffs were extremely rude and irresponsible. Although one of the staff members clearly processed my cancellation request via online and it was appreciated, in general, I would recommend you avoid this location considering
I’m a pretty big fan of this crunch location. As a current Gympass member, I’ve had the privilege to try all kinds of gyms around the city like equinox, lifetime, NYSC, and others. I really feel like you get your bang for your buck here.
Always clean, very crowded at peak hours. Wish they stocked more of the popular sizes of dumbbells and plates! They have like one set of every size incremented by five pounds instead of having more of the ones everyone is using. Also the
It's a great gym. Just a little too crowded during the peak times. But everyone that comes in especially in the morning... You can tell they're serious and advanced lifters, which boosts motivation for me personally.
The Staff was very Friendly and Helpful they have nice equipment and weight locker room is big and clean they have a nice steamroom
I worked out there for about a year. Great facility , the staff is consistently cleaning, Equipments are new and in good shape
Great gym! Super friendly staff, awesome manager, and the facility has everything you need! Super clean and organized :)
Compact but really nice place I would give a 4 to usually. The staff, especially the front desk, make it a 5.
