I have shopped here since 2012 when I moved into the area and largely have enjoyed my experiences. I have literally given this store THOUSANDS in business over the years and that’s not an exaggeration. The last few months the quality of EVERYTHING has went down and I’ve found myself frequenting there less and less. Then after encountering a completely useless and VERY RUDE employee tonight (shorter brown haired white woman with glasses) on 9/10/23 at 9:15 I will NEVER spend another red cent here. The sad part is, I think she was actually in charge of the place. I took my basket to the self checkout and remembered I left my debit card at home so I needed to be clerked through a line with an actual human clerk. As usual, there was no one to be found anywhere except for this nightmare of a woman who was closing out one of the checkout stations (that’s why I assume she’s a manager or shift leader). I VERY POLITELY asked if she could ring up my order at the cash line explaining I didn’t have my card on me. I had about 45 dollars in goods so it wasn’t a big chore (less than or around 20 items). She comes over to the register and literally throws down the rolls of coins she was carrying in front of me in a very rude fashion. I started to just walk out, but I bit my tongue and said “don’t get mad at me, I’m just trying to buy a few things” thinking she would realize that she was acting pretty unprofessional. I mean I’m giving the store money if she doesn’t want my money I’ll take it somewhere else! That’s when she started snatching things off the counter and out of my cart and ringing them up and talking rudely under her breath (cursing at me I’m sure for having the gall to ask her to actually do her job). She rings me up and hands me my change without saying anything. Literally nothing, much less a “thank you”. The younger version of me would have stooped to her level and outdone her by telling her what I really thought of her using salty language and calling her choice words. But the older, mellower version of me decided to just write this review and let Dollar General at 541 Stewart’s Ferry Pike know that I will NEVER under any circumstances return to your once efficient and formerly great store. There’s just too many options and life’s to short to put up with employees who act like this. Anyone reading this don’t waste your time dealing with people like her!

So I ran into a little issue! I'm going to make this short or at least try. I was broke til my pay day and walked in dollar general 2days before and told the lady by the nickname of JoJo that I was going to stand outside and pan handle a few dollars. She laughed and kinda brushed it off as if it was a joke, I spoke up and said "No I'm serious, I'm tryna get a couple dollars for some noodles and a buck soda". So she then replied with go ahead and grab them, I say "are you serious" she say "yes". I walked out the store a happy man with something to eat for my family. Two days later I came in buying product in the store to receive change that came up to 10$ and some change. I asked the cashier Mrs Melissa if she could give me two 5$ dollar bills back so I then gave Mrs JoJo a 5$ dollar bill for appreciation. Iwaled out a happy man once again knowing that there are still God blessed people out here that care about others. Thank you JoJo for your act of kindness and I will be more than glad to give you a helping hand wheneve, and I mean WHENEVER you need it. Thanks a million and one times #DG_JoJo@StewartsFerry

Walking up at 852, we only needed 1 item. Paper plates. The manager and a team member were pulling carts inside. Noticing us, the manager told the young man to "hurry up and get the cart inside and lock the door before they get to it" ...what? Roses, the store across the street let us in ar 859 with no issue and we were able 5o get what we needed and left as theyclosed.. That lady was so rude, it was unreal. I even told her they the door, that i only needed one item and would be quick quick quick. She shrugged and pulled the drawer from the register. I mentioned calling their boss or corporate and they both shrugged and mouthed "so" & "whatever" Teach your managers manners so they can teach their employees

I bought a three foot cell phone charger that did not work on my Android device. I went to return the charger but did not have the receipt handy and the store manager was manager was very patient and understanding. This particular store did not have any 3ftchargers left when I attempted to return it. All they had were 10 foot charging cables which cost twice as much money. Because I could not afford that employee didn't even exchange for me and I really appreciate that kindness.

They don’t even deserve a star period. This store was so nice in the beginning 2 years ago. But in the last 6-8 months has gone down so bad. Bad customer service, empty shelves, can’t get down the isles for stock just setting. No help around, employee youngsters playing around at night. I wanted to apply for a manager job there but it’s so bad now there’s no way I’d wanna tackle that. Also they open & Close when they want to. This is not feasible for neighbors.

Their $1 dollar section has no where near the selection of the other DG's I've been to. There was only one cashier and the gentleman on the floor never came up to help with the ever growing line. Restroom is unavailable to customers bc someone broke the key off in the door handle. Also this location was a dead zone for me and my daughter's cellphone. They do however have a good freezer selection.

Stopped in a grab a couple of things only to find the man that was supposed to be the cashier pacing around the front on his phone. He refused to do any work and continuedhis personal phone call. As I left I told another worker outside what happened and she came in and checked me out. That other worker needs to be fired. His behavior was ridiculous.

Went for the first time to this location to buy and made a bad impression as a business...it seemed that the only helpful person there to assist and was working was a young lady maria while the other older ladies where literally just standing around gossiping watching her stock shelves when they had people waiting to be helped . …

It's really nice to have a smaller place to pickup a few items. I feel like so many of these places are being replaced with bigger stores. It's convenient and has a selection in almost anything you might need in a hurry. Plus, they have better prices than if I stopped at a gas station for the same item.

Be careful parking here! A Dollar General truck backed into my car causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. The driver denied it. The store manager was no help at all. The district manager never returned my calls. And corporate didn't do anything either. My only option is to sue DG for damages.

Love the place...very well-stocked and great prices. The service is pretty good 80% of the time, but sometimes it REALLY feels like the cashiers are deliberately taking their sweet time to check you out.

  • Mighty Rasing

Well organized racks, making things easy to find. There's also ample parking, but you gotta be careful when you move out into the Stewarts Ferry Parkway because it's a busy street.

  • KoltTV Murphy

Walked in to get milk, and several other items, had a really long line, n milk was $4.15 a gallon, walked straight out and went to the one one Lebanon pike. Milk was 2 somethin.

The employee was really rude to my friend and barked at her for looking through a clearance rack of purses. But other than that, it was a decent Dollar General.

  • Jasmine W.

I love the convenience of this Dollar General! Every employee I’ve encountered is friendly and very helpful. I can count on this store to have what I need!!

  • Brittany Mansfield

Very well organized for a Dollar General. Most of the stores I have visited are cramped and unorganized, but this particular store was very neat and clean.

  • angellurest

Closes early every night despite hours listed on door, bet they stay on the clock like they're opened though. Rude employees, sad excuse for a market

  • Toni Rompasky

I like the lady who checked me out. She welcomed me in and we talked as if we were not strangers. And willing to help me find what i needed.
