Shocking service from the so called manager/ owner Gerrick. Absolutely unfriendly, unhelpful and overall unwelcoming towards patrons. He has no idea whatsoever of how to run a business in customer service. When you are in the service industry, that's exactly it, you need to serve your customers and not speak to them and make them feel like you are doing them a favour because you are not. From the moment we walked into the establishment he gave us strange looks to when we ordered our food and when he came to check on the tables, he is not receptive to feedback but rather is argumentative and tries to point prove. He does not make any effort to make patrons feel welcome and treat people with respect. We were not the only ones that felt this way that's for sure. I'm shocked at how the business is still standing with this behaviour The rest of the staff are so polite, friendly and simply amazing! When they go to the "big boss" to seek permission on requests, that's when the drama arises. Good luck with that stinking attitude, let's see how successful you remain when you have no customers left. The lady there is equally unhelpful and refuses to accommodate patrons when the restaurant is full. They come up with zero solutions. Our food was cold, we made a reservation and despite this were provided with a table that we did not request, we were a large group and when the staff called the "manager" he refused to accept any accountability at all. I visited the cafe on Sunday morning for breakfast, ordered a some cinnamon drink and a bottle of water, while I continued reading. I was served by a warm and kind lady. The place got a bit busy and I allowed her to continue serving other patrons as I was in no rush. Out of nowhere erupted Garrick(I hope I spelled his name correctly) , he was wearing a waist trainer, and offered to assist, and seeing that the lady who was assisting me was up and down, I though let me place my order with the lad. I ordered breakfast and as it was being prepared I asked that the water bottle be returned (it was still sealed and untouched (by me), just out of the refrigerator , but the Garrick refused and told me at the top of his gills "This place is not for people like you, you can leave, the bottle has been with you for over an hour (exaggeration) and he can't take it back". I then asked him to cancel my order as I honoured his request (left).

My visit to The Daily Cafe left me disappointed and frustrated. As a vegetarian, I was excited to try their vegan wrap, but unfortunately, I received a bacon and chicken wrap instead. While I understand that mistakes can happen, the manager's response to the situation was unsatisfactory. Instead of taking responsibility for the error and making things right, I was told that the misunderstanding was my fault and that the wrap would only be removed from the bill. Furthermore, my order for an americano with cold soy milk was also incorrect, as I received hot soy milk instead. This mistake was also not addressed. As a customer, I expect a certain level of attentiveness and care from the staff, and I was disappointed with the service I received. I hope that The Daily Cafe can take steps to improve their communication and customer service in the future.

Had a really great experience here with my fiancé on our first visit. This is a great café that has good coffee and great food. I had an absolutely delicious Eggs Benedict which easily makes the top 2 I've ever had (It's always what I try at a breakfast place). Really good. My fiancé had the spicy chicken sandwich on a bagel and it was also fantastic! I was super jealous. We both had a really great experience here and I look forward to a return visit to try out more food! Update: Tried their potato and spinach waffle eggs Benedict and it's amazing! What a great experience. One of the best eggs Benedicts I've ever had. Period.

The restaurant is amazing, I love the food and the atmosphere is great. But today I felt a bit weird. I sat with my little boy having lunch and I noticed that the owner or manager spoke to everyone else apart from us. He engaged and asked other customers how their meal is going. I paid no attention to it I thought he didn't see us. But the restaurant wasn't full but I saw he chatted to other customers apart from us. Spoke and chatted to another customer who came in way after we did. We sat there for a good 40 minutes so there's no way he didn't see us and we ordered meals. I'm so disappointed cos I really love the restaurant and we didn't even bother anyone, I just wanted to sit and pass time by having lunch with my son. Just a very sad experience today, he could have atleast pretended.

Today my mom and I went to The Daily Coffee Cafe to sit down and have lunch which turned into us having coffee and cake as well, and can I just say our food was absolutely Outstanding!! Attention to detail, beautifully presented, very well priced for the qaulity of food and the service you get.I ordered a chicken breast stack on a bed of sweet potatoes with the most exquisite dressing over it, surrounded by basil pesto cream cheese balls. My mom had the chicken schnitzel which she couldn't stop raving about . We also had their baked cheesecake which was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was also lovely! very friendly and helpful and kept checking on us. Also situated in the perfect place.Thank for the most stunning experience we will certainly be back.

It is no secret that "The Daily" at FOR is our favourite (and still only) restaurant we eat at but imagine my surprise when I find out that they cater for private parties too!!!!!!! We LOVE their food but at the end of the day a platter is a platter..... WELL!!!!! CAN I TELL YOU.... A'The Daily' platter is NOT JUST A PLATTER! It was DELICIOUS! No.... HEAVENLY!!! to say the least. My guests were delighted and kept going back for more... Even the kids dug in. I reluctantly (me not eating reheated food) took the leftovers home and 3 days later the food still tasted FRESH!!! I cannot praise this amazing coffee shop/ restuarant enough. Keep up the good work and please NEVER stop making these delectable dishes.

Exceptionally rude owner/manager. We went in wanting to test a few hard drives for no longer than 10 minutes. We were handed a set of rules in which we have to purchase an item, to which be obliged and bought a 300ml can of coke for R24. After a few minutes, we were greeted and being questioned whether we bought something or not, to which we replied that we in fact did purchase something. We were then rudely spoken to and shouted in front of the other customers. Definitely not a friendly environment especially considering that we are potentially new customers. Note: it was off peak hours and we did not in anyway hinder other income bringing customers.

Lovely coffee spot, the mall has free wifi so its a nice place to sit and get some work done during loadshedding. If you're sensitive to noise and sensory overload then I would not recommend as its inside the mall which is just naturally more noisy. I like the eggs benedict and chicken strips and their coffee is very good as well.

Its close to the entrance and there are no stairs or small steps around. The entrance is flat with a small incline

I couldn't resist the burger special ( for R120) and decided to split it with another member. The first thing I noticed was how well it was presented; sauce dripping out of it and seemingly fresh ingredients. It, as well as the chips were slightly cold. There was nothing special about the patty but all the flavours worked together. The restaurant does not have a liquor licence so a beer rating isn't possible here. The staff and waitrons wore masks at all times and sanized the table before we got there. The venue is tight inside and a little uncomfortable so we'd opted for a table outside. A great venue for a quick, quality burger that (considering the price), wins!

Speechless!!! The consistency of a 5 star standard here is impeccable. From the attention to detail service from the staff, the fresh and high quality ingredients used, and variety of meals and drinks to choose from in this vibrant atmosphere, I prefer to eat no where else. The daily at FOR offers THE BEST value for money. Thank you Helena and team for an incredible experience EVERY SINGLE TIME! A Special appreciation goes out to your staff, they are doing you extremely proud. Noma is our go to Angel but they are all a pleasure to be with. It could have just been the person who was serving us that day. I have updated my rating due to your considerate response and now knowing how you do actually run the cafe. .... Original: I could not use my own gluten-free bread here. Because I struggle with my health, I always bring my own gluten-free bread. Restaurants like Steers and Wimpy have been very accommodating. I was very shocked and surprised at how this could not be possible here and I was left without ordering anything.

If you have ever wondered what Heaven tastes like, it is actually found (specifically) at the Daily Coffee at Ferndale on Republic. The freshly baked Carrot Cake is definitely not from this world. I wish I was able to give a better rating than 5 stars because, to be perfectly honest, I don't feel that is a sufficient enough reflection of my awe. I had one for my birthday this past weekend and just got off the phone with Helena to order another one for this coming Saturday. Look no further for Heaven people. This cake is the epitome of achievement! (10/5 stars)

Such a pretty little spot, very cosy I went for a quick stop, I had their chocolate milkshake, it was delicious and creamy, perfect for chocolate lovers. The menu looked good, I'll go back for breakfast to try out the rest of the menu.

Refused to serve breakfast after 12:00 even though the waiter confirmed that this cut-off is not stated on their menu. EDIT: Reply to owner I am shocked that you are shocked. My review clearly stated that the waiter refused to take my breakfast order based on the TIME of day and not on your availability of eggs. I didn't know your egg supplies run out at 12:01. I had an experience where the female manager was out right rude when seeing I had a laptop out , she did not great me but berated me infront of other partons me for only ordering a muffin and coke and insisted i leave . The shop was mostly empty which is most likely a result form your managing skills . I also see someone responds to all the negative reviews with some snarky come back , your business is going to run into the ground if you dont get a manager with people skills.

The manager was extremely rude to my aunt, she was waiting for my mom and me to arrive so she ordered a water so that she could drink coffee with us and the manager went to her and asked her why she was taking advantage of the shop and only drinking water. He was also extremely standoffish when he told us to leave so that they could wash the cups and plates. If i could rate 0 stars i would. The waiter was really friendly but the manager ruined the whole experience.

The daily is a regular spot atleast once a week - I usually bring work along and check emails over breakfast - I however got moved to a smaller table in the corner on a Tuesday morning after taking out my iPad. I usually spend maximum 40 Min and order 2 coffees and breakfast. This non laptop/no work policy feels rude and I won't be back again. The waiters are so lovely but the owners are hostile and make you feel unwelcome.

I had such an amazing experience here. I turn 21 today and some of my family forgot about it. The daily went out of their way to write "happy 21st birthday" on my latte and gave me a slice of cake on the house. The staff are so warm and welcoming and the atmosphere is so relaxed and inviting. I couldnt recommend a better place for a friendly experience with great food and amazing coffee. You've got to try it out!

Really hostile towards anyone who wants to work in their space. Arrived on a Saturday to try make a deadline and was told laptops are not allowed on a Saturday. I thought it a bit strange but I thought I’d come again because maybe there’s a good reason for this. Arrived on a weekday and was handed a rule sheet for people with laptops. It was very awkward, chose to go work and eat elsewhere.

Lovely experience. Our waiter was superb and the manager was very congenial. The food was very fresh and excellent quality. Best hollandaise sauce I've had in years. My lunch companion had a toasted ham and cheese ciabatta, which tasted like heaven. The milkshakes are huge and divine. Very good value for money as well. I highly recommend this café.

We breakfasted here on the day of my daughter's 21st birthday. No one had booked, but the proprietor made a special effort to have a pretty table laid for the occasion. The waiter was friendly and helpful, the food was scrumptious, and the bill was fair. What more can you ask for in a restaurant.

What an awesome experience at The Daily this morning. We had lovely hot chocolate made to perfection and a scone, jam, cream and cheese each. The scones are huge (a meal in itself) and absolutely delicious. Friendly and efficient service and a touch of care from the manager.

We had a lovely brunch of steak, egg, chips and onion rings with a delicious home made mushroom sauce. The basting was really special as well. I highly recommend that you try this special ( Not on the menu ). Well done Derek and team.
