I've always been curious about this place since I started coming into the area. Some days it looks pretty empty other days it is packed. Today it is one of the former. Coming in here you're greeted by the cashier. David's grill makes good use of the space... accomodating plenty of seating without sacrificing floor space. It is almost exclusively booths aside from the high chairs so prepare to enjoy your food with strangers. They have a wide selection on the menu arranging from traditional Mexican dishes to American cuisine and even Mediterranean food. The Mediterranean steak intrigued me even though the $14.99 price tag hints at the quality. As with every Mexican restaurant they welcome you with chips and salsa. The salsa itself is good, but the homemade chips are horrendous (most likely fried in very old oil.) The steak was ready in about 10 minutes. It comes with fries caramelized onions, garlic bread and a salad. The portions are great so you won't have to worry about leaving hungry at David's grill. There's a lack of an even crust on the steak and you can tell they cooked it as of it were fajita strips (flipping it a bunch of times, probably not searing it, etc.) which is why it is unevenly cooked. The steak isn't evenly seasoned either, with some parts having too much seasoning while others have too little.

I ordered the BLT, cashier asked if I wanted rye or wheat. I asked if I can get white, she said said yes....i received Rye ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️ You know what your getting when you go here. Typical diner but the cashier was horrrrible. Very dismissive and arrogant. Rolled her eyes when I asked what kind of soup they had. After I left, i called only because my order was wrong and asked to speak to a manager or someone in charge because I know the cashier was answering the phone. She said, Manager was unavailable. I asked if I could speak to someone in charge, she said no, and then said no one is in charge. She said I can leave a message. I proceeded to give her my name and number, when the cashier interrupted me by saying, that I couldn't leave my number. She then said that the Manager would NOT call me back, and I could not leave my number. I was so confused..... My order was all wrong, but the food was decent. The thing that left a sour taste in my mouth was how bad this cashier was for this small local business. If the owner is reading this, do yourself a favor and get rid of the cashier!

Stumbled across this restaurant for breakfast as everywhere we had gone was extremely packed and long waits. Place was full but we managed to get a table since we are a family of 6. The kids and My wife and I absolutely loved the food. The kids had pancakes and sausage. Had to order a second order of pancakes since they wanted more. We had eggs and ham as well as eggs with sausage and was great. No excess grease on any of the food. Ice and crispy hashbrowns. I recommend giving this place a look whenever your in the neighborhood looking for a bite to eat. They have a great menu with lots of options for whatever you maybe craving!

Always top notch fast n friendly service and the food, especially the combos are very reasonably priced. Highly recommended if you've never been here but pass it everyday and keep wondering to yourself "I gotta stop there one time". Great staff and friendly service.

Food quality is very good. The cost is very affordable from my experience breakfast including tip was 10 today. I was going down the street and paying about five dlars more for the same meal. No customer surcharges which I like. The menu has a wide variety of food and I will continue to eat there. Customer was friendly!

The food is excellent, the service is friendly, and the prices are great! I was in the mood for some breakfast food for dinner today, and I decided to go to David’s Grill for the first time. I got the two eggs with chopped steak, and it just hit the spot. Comes with hash browns and pancake/toast. Will be back for more!

Great little diner in Chicago, the staff is warm and friendly. The food quality is good and is cooked to order in a quick manner. The eggs and chorizo are great and burritos are to die for. If you need a morning bite, stop by for a quick and quality meal.

Me and my son live in Bridgeport and we've wanted to visit this place to give it a chance. Unfortunately, we regretted going there. The waitress and manager was nice, but the food was terrible. I ordered chilaquiles, way too spicy and not enough cheese (had to ask for cheese)I couldn't eat them, rice was just OK, beans tasted like 2 day old, gray colored refried beans from a can. Sorry, but we ain't coming back.

A very strange diner. When I first came here I figured they served typical american cuisine. I was delightfully surprised when Mexican food was on the menu. I didn't expect this from a place named after a David. This is one of my staple restaurants in Chicago and I'm sure to take any visitors to the city here for their breakfast in town.

David's is one of the best spots for some good Hot Menudo (tripe soup) or Caldo de Camaron (shrimp soup)! Makes it home nice & hot!

Look man, they keep it real. You want bougie? Go eat in downtown or some over price hipster restaurant. If you're hungry, want quality, and on a budget I definitely recommend this place. It's a classic, and a staple for people in the neighborhood. If you're into cucumber water and all, that this place isn't for you chief.

Phenomenal service, great food, great price and the staff is very comforting and allowed me to eat shirtless due to my condition. Great spot!!!

This place deserves 0 stars but I had to give them one just to write a review. The staff here is horrible and they all have horrible attitudes. The food is nasty and not worth the visit. If you are not Hispanic then 9/10 you will receive horrible treatment especially from the lady they always have working there.

Use to be one of my favorite spots until the waitress harassed my wife by saying that her friend skipped on the bill mind you my wife only goes there with me or her mom and we showed her on our bank account where we always pay... But rant over time to find a place to go to never felt so disrespected.

Good food. But the place is kinda dirty. The seat i was on had dried up sauce. I cleaned it off but the fridge next to me was also dirty. Mom said the bathroom was unisex and disgusting. Might go back cause the food was definitely done wonderfully. The place needs a bit of deep cleaning dough.

Very cheap so I wasn't expecting much but it was delicious! Ice cold water, decent hot coffee, chilaquiles and French toast were perfect. Great friendly staff.

Great breakfast served all day long, I have the 3 meat omelet which came with a generous serving of hash brown and 2 slices of toast, the coffee was fresh and the service quick, if I lived closer I would eat here every day.

Me and my son just ate here we finished a root beer fountain drink and went to get a refill and noticed my cup was full of ants gross me put could not finishing eating my son spit his food out and said come on lets leave

David’s grill is great! Food was top quality and the workers there were so kind. The prices were reasonable. Overall great place I will be coming here again!

Great neighborhood restaurant. Price was unbelievable low for city of Chicago. 2 of us had a full breakfast for less than $15. Place looks a little run down but the food and service were excellent.

First time there. It's a little run down, and really only had a hot dog. The prices overall were reasonable. Plenty of parking and an outdoor patio. I would say overall just an average diner.

Very clean place and the people are very nice and listen closely to what you order I can't wait to comeback, sit on there patio for the summer.
