Good Day, Since your shop opened we were regular customers there every week, never once we had a complain.. Yesterday on the 11/05/2021 ordered fish and chips order #75. When i got home, i was very disappointed in the quality of the fish, fish was cut very thin, more batter than fish, took photos.. I phoned the shop and tried to explain my story, when i was brutally told that they never had complaints, and the phone was put down in my ear.. I personally think its my right to complain for something i paid for..I referred a few people there, but if this is the way that the personal speaks and treats their clients, i will be forced to take my money elsewhere...The lady behind the counter took out spring rolls from the fridge no gloves, touches opens the fridge takes food with bare hands... Thanks but no thanks
.....we always pass this shop and see the advertising board how cheap the prices are for fish, chips and other sea-foods! Today we just had to stop to get a R39.00 parcel of fish, chips & a cold drink! Wow were we shocked to see just how busy this place was inside there was about 40 odd people and the Q was getting ever longer it was only 12:30 some people were collecting 8 to 10 parcels at a time! We waited for 25 mins for our order to to made up! This shop also sells fresh fish produce and they are on a busy road and in a residential area so it means that people are traveling from around the area to come and buy fish & chips for lunch time! Thee R39:00 parcel is not bad at all! Enjoyable!........................
We have been buying our fish and chips here for over 10 years now on a regular basis. I see some people complain about the the portion sizes. Well as far as I am concerned the potions sizes have remained the same. over the years. I usually buy a large hake and chips and honestly it is enough for me and my husband. Everybody is raving about the fish and it is good, but I want to compliment De Tyger Fish City on its chips. It is still real McCoy, as my kids use to say, regte egte slap chips. Not these nylon frozen stuff one gets at some restaurants and take-aways. I will always remain a loyal customer.
This is the fish & chips staple of the area. Really really good quality fish and chips and they also sell seafood products and fresh sushi! Not to mention tasty!

Last wednesday, pouring with rain and loadshedding, fish and chips was my best option. Visited the fisheries, ordered 4 calamari/chip rolls. While being prepared,I noticed the calamari was grilled,I questioned the lady, since I didn't ask for grilled calamari, she just looked at me at which point I turned to the gentleman at the till who also took my order. Oh he says,we don't fry during loadshedding. I asked him why he did not mention before taking my money. Store was busy,so just took my stuff and left. Everyone was dissappointed, and the grilled calamari was tasteless. Not going back
Firstly the owner like a miserable guy that needs some light in his life. Secondly the staff are very rude when asking where our order is. Thirdly the amount of chips we got when ordering a large is a massive joke. They give you bad service and rip you off. Sad thing is people will still support them but they are a disgrace to all of the fish shops out there and even if they are making money, your customer experience and product is pathetic. Never going there again.

Medium calamari is more like a small for the R80 price. Then was asked if I'd like tartar sauce with it and I agreed as I thought a bit of sauce was included. I noticed afterwards I was charged about R12 extra for a small cup, without being informed of the price. The sauce wasn't even the best either. Calamari was okay though. Just small portions. After this R92ish endeavour I was still left hungry and unsatisfied.

Discovered they do a great hake grill, but by the 3rd visit this week, I got a worse piece of fish. No taste. Dry and rubberlike. Called the shop to find out if i could return it. When i arrived they were about to close, since i drived so far - i asked to be refunded. Told me rhey had cashed up already - and told me to come back because they would "have fresh, fresh fish the next day". So in essence i am forced to return and to hope it will be the case. Why not reimburse me.....
There has been a management change at De Tyger Fish City over the last few years. This was a good decision because now the staff are more polite and helpful. It's well lit inside and easy to see both the sushi and fish counter. The fish is always fresh and you receive a good portion of both chips and fish when you buy here. Their service has improved dramatically and I like buying their Monday/Tuesday special. The sushi is also fresh and well made.
The place is great, my family enjoyed their fish, chips and calamari so much that they asked me to buy from them again... Unfortunately the second time they got the order wrong - we asked for snoek and they gave hake... No I didn't check in the store because the assumption was that the order was correct and by the time we realised at home it was too late as we had already opened and started eating it, the hake was great but we wanted snoek
WORST SERVICE EVER. PAID R55 FOR A MEDIUM CHIPS AND BARELY GOT HALF A BOX. WAITED ALMOST AN HOUR ONLY TO GET DRY AND HARD CHIPS. SO MUCH STAFF BUT HALF OF THEM WERE JUST STANDING AROUND DOING NOTHING. I GET A BETTER DEAL AT FISH AND CHIPS BASKET FOR R45. DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF CHIPS WITH 5 CHEESE RUSSIANS.

Best fish and chips in the northern suburb........ Fresh fresh fresh...... The place is clean the menu has nice combos, they have nice daily specials and they can even offer you salad and grilled fir the health conscious. Then they even have a sushi menu with a sushi chef to serve you fresh made sushi. I recommend this place to any one that has not tried them. It's all worth it.
UPDATE : Definitely the cleanest fisheries I've ever seen! Great food, great variety of dishes and very friendly service. Worth waiting those few extra minutes for! Great, fresh fish and chips and sushi. Very clean. Promise of 10-15 minutes' waiting time on orders not kep, though. I waited 45 minutes, which was a bit disappointing. Best is to phone through order and collect.
This is the only place where we buy fish and chips, always great tasting, nice and fresh, and the prices are excellent. We are ripped into 2 though: we had the sushi, and my word, it beats most places in North Suburbs - not just price but also taste. We don't even go to restaurants anymore. The chef is super fast and prepares a 36 piece platter in under 10 minutes.
They are robbing people in broad daylight, I bought a small chips thinking it would enough as I have experienced with other fisheries but it was smaller than a small chips at a spaza and then they want to charge you R12 for sauce and R5 for spice which they don't even put on the chips. Very disappointed won't ever buy there again, complete waste of money and time.
I sent my daughter to buy a chip roll and this is what I got. Plain roll with chips.. no sauces or anything. I asked her to take it back since lm not feeling well. She was told if l need any sauce it's 12rand extra. Well I have been a regular customer there.. I'm very disappointed and you won't see me again. I paid 32rand for a dry roll with dry chips.
Fish is but be prepared to wait it takes a little while to get your order. Friday's operating times should be changed to 20h00 not 21h00 closing as I presented there around half past eight I was totally ignored by everyone till I asked. Then I was told they're closed yet it shows open on the window.

This place serves the most amazing fried fish I've had in a long long time. The only downside is their portions. Being Capetonian, you're used to a fish and chips parcel being smothered in chips. Here they weigh the chips per portion so you get a very small parcel for the amount of money you're paying because they charge premium prices.
Orderd family chips got half a box full off oily chips. Had to put it in my airfrier just to cook it. It was just for 3 kids and it was done nothing for rest off family. When I phoned owner said I don't have to order it again. Very rude.

This shop is just up the road from my house, and I popped in there for the first time last weekend to try their fish. Lovely fish and chips. My husband and I orderd a snoek parcel. The snoek was so fresh and tasty, and the chips were gorgeous! Going to make this my go-to fish and chips spot in Cape Town.
Always fresh fish and excellent quality of service. Fish and chips fast food restaurant that prepares your fish only once ordering. This ensures that your fish and chips parcel is always freshly made when you receive it. They host a large variety of family combos which easily serves a family of 4.
Placed order with Mr Delivery and payment went off my bank account. They did not accept my order on time and when calling them they did not answer. Luckily my payment was transferred back into my online wallet and I Had to order from another fisheries. Will never order online from them again.
They don't deserve a star waiting 40 min for my order while others that ordered after me is leaving.. Excuse waiting for chips all the other orders also had chips in... Then get home order smaller than usual and no salt and vinegar as requested.. Pathetic will not support you ever again...
Their fish and Chips are the best. In fact everything is very nice. Fresh hot and tasty. Which ever way you want it they try their utmost best to satisfy the customers. You can even phone for your order and it will be ready when you get there. They also have great specials.
Tried them about 2 months ago and will not be returning. The owner did not seem interested or happy to help. The food was good but I was quite put off by the way he used his bare dirty hand to take chips out of the chips tray, eat it right there and still lick his fingers.
Good portions. However, advertised specials are not in stock yet still advertised... food is okey but expect alot better for the price. Had better fish and chips in potch in the middel of no where for half the price.

i buy there daily almost! people are all friendly i think you can get it cheaper elsewhere but it wont be the best possible quality like at de tyger fisheries never been sick from there fish or sushi!!! would like to recommend to all everything is freshly made for you
Fish portions half the size of elsewhere... Calamari fried in burnt tasting oil and overdone. Hake fillets still with lots of bones. Not good value...Will not go back... Recommend Fisherman's Bay in Welgelegen. However, Sushi is good. Definitely a different Chef.
I make a point of stopping here at least once a week, over the past few months the quality has gone down and the cleanliness has dropped off. The bald headed chap behind the counter has also developed a very unfriendly attitude. I will have to find another spot
I drive by this place quite often and it was the first time that I stopped there en route to work. Excellent food. Menu is varied and customers are able to select great deals. Food is freshly prepared. Worth the wait! This place will be my fish stop in future.
Waited almost 10 minutes to be helped, while they were chatting at the till. Walked off and bought somewhere else. Wrong orders, different amounts of chips on same order, repeatedly. Definitely not worth my while to go there again........ever!
The crispy batter on the fish was perfection itself—crunchy yet light, encasing the flakiest, most tender fish I've ever tasted. And those yummy chips, Simply divine! Each bite was a delightful symphony of flavors and textures. The staff
Waited half an hour for a medium calamari and chips and a small chips.... Worst service ever because almost 20 orders went out before mine and i was there before all of them... Ordered at 17:16 got my order at 17:45 not impressed at all
Great tasting fish, mini or regular sized parcels available. Made fresh while you wait and they sell raw seafood ingredients as well. In house working counter ensures fresh sushi. Worth a visit as they fry or grill which is a plus

Ordered a snoek parcel online. Very pathetic scale of food. I could literally hold the amount of chips given in one hand and 2 small pieces of fish. I paid R102 in total. They more over making money than keeping a customer happy.
Enjoyed the food. Ordered grilled hake and chips with spice and vinegar. Waited long for my parcel. Got it, get home, open to eat and see there was no spice, salt or vinegar added... one of the things we all dislike the most

I must say that this place does a good job of making fish and chips. I've only ordered the hake and chips parcels. Haven't been brave enough to try anything else however my wife enjoys the tampura prawn sushi

The sushi is good however, the service is below average. The man behind the cash register was unhelpful and hostile. I think service is important in the hospitality industry thus, it should be improved on.
Super fresh, crispy and delicious - had the large hake and chips parcel - hands down the best fisheries I've ever been to, will definitely be returning in the near future and advertising by word of mouth.
Clean, friendly and very accommodating. They had already closed up shop to clean at the end of the day and let me in and switched their equipment back on to make my order. They are just awesome!
brilliant fish and chips.... and calamari.... not to mention sushi counter..delicious and well priced Portugal héritage , clean organised permise, and professional staff makes this place a gem!
Very good 1st experience at de Tyger Fisgeries. Very well priced for big portions. We ordered grilled and we got tasty succulent fish and prawns. Prawns were slightly overcooked but delicious

Every Saturday fish and chips. Best hake in the surrounding area. Had hake and chips in a other area, chips was nice but the hake no.
Very busy! Food is prepared on order so no 'old' fish 'n chips. Be prepared to wait a few minutes for your food, but it is worth it.

Excellent freshly prepared fish and chips. Obnoxious old man in charge but rest of staff an. absolute pleasure to deal with.

Love the fact that you can have fish and have it grilled instead of fried, and they have an amazing Greek salad.
Fish and chips was out of the world. So fresh, I wish every fisheries can prepare the food when ordered. ❤️❤️❤️
Fish was decent..the cook must of forgotten to heat the spring roll or it was precooked....other than that good
What nice staff. Lovely fresh fish. Worth every cent. Love the cleanliness of staff and premises. Thanks guys
I always go here for fish and chips. Best in the neighbourhood. Food is always fresh and made while you wait.

The best fish and chips I've had in Cape Town. I don't mind waiting for freshly prepared fish and chips.
The sushi is tolerable and overpriced. On more than one occasion noticed crusty mayo in my sushi rolls.
Always fresh fish and yummy. Queue is a little too long and waiting period too. Slightly overpriced.
Delicious fish and chips. Small portions though. Loved the fish roe. Perfectly battered and fried.
