I have been attending the Doctors of Ivanhoe Clinic for over 7 years. I was motivated to write a review today because the Practice Manager called me and I thought he was quite unprofessional. I think the medical care I have received at Doctors of Ivanhoe has been adequate. I have seen several doctors, mostly Sashi Ramanan, but also had a wonderful experience with Darko Markovic. I have mostly been happy with the care. I recently experienced a mistake by a doctor’s miscommunication that almost cost me $400 (not by the doctors named above). Thankfully the other company the doctor had referred me to recognised the doctor’s mistake and didn’t make me pay the $400. I feel this mistake worked out, but not thanks to the doctor. Out of the blue, today, the practice manager called me about 2 weeks after I had a phone consultant for a blood test report (related to the $400 mistake). Historically these kind of reports were free as a follow up phone call. At this phone consultant the admin staff called me for my credit card details. In light of almost loosing $400 to this particular doctor’s mistake and that it was just a follow up to get results of blood tests taken 2 months previous, I gave my credit card details and commented to the admin staff that if I was charged I would be very disappointed and take my business elsewhere. I was happy to be bulk billed, after all, the doctor deserves to be paid but probably not over and above what Medicare will give her for a 2min phone call. So the phone call went ahead, 2 mins, they held my credit card details and I wasn’t notified whether or not I would be charged. I assumed I was not charged as no money came out of my account. But today the practice manager called me saying I had an account due. I asked what for, he said it was for the phone call. I said I had left my credit card details so I’m not sure why they didn't charge me, unless the doctor bulk billed. I asked if the doctor bulk billed me and he said that she did. Now I was a bit annoyed. What was he calling me for? There was clearly not an over due account. He went on about how it is a private practice and I can’t expect to be bulk billed. I agreed that they had the means to charge me but that it was probably not right to charge beyond a bulk bill charge for a 2min phone call considering the doctor almost cost me $400 and I had waited 2 months for the blood test results. The practice manager became quite heated and defensive and in my opinion the call was completely unnecessary. It ruined my day and they lost a paying client. Not sure what the practice managers job is, but if it is to unnecessarily agitate clients and scare them away then he has been very successful.
I’ve been coming to this clinic for a few years now due to convenient location. I’ve seen a few really lovely doctors here but the experience I had the other day made me feel awful. Because I had a runny nose due to allergies I felt as I was pushed out and the Dr didn’t listen with any concern to my actual problem which was my eczema. I was told I should’ve made a phone consultation instead but they wouldn’t have been able to see the extent of my discomfort. I understand that there are procedures put in place for the safety of the doctors but I was wearing a mask and covid tested before I went. She refused to fully examine my skin only looking from a distant, it made me feel less than human. This is the second time I’ve seen this particular doctor and she brushed me off the same when I saw her the first time. I won’t make the same mistake a third time.
My 85 year old father was contacted by Dr of Ivanhoe to come in as he had an abnormal test result. He waited 50 minutes & finally when they did see him, they asked why he was there. They couldn’t find his test results. Eventually the doctor located them & explained the results & asked my father what he wanted to do. Seriously!! Had to as the doctor to refer my father to a specialist. Then when we went to pay, they wanted to charge him full price. Have been there before many times, he’s a pensioner & they should apply Medicare rebate. My poor father was being taken advantage of due to his age.. what a disgraceful way to treat someone.
I have been a patient for more than 20 years. Many of the doctors are good practitioners. However, their processes fall short - when you are forced to make a Telehealth appointment and you choose a time, the Dr can call you at any time - you wait hours after the scheduled time, and you cannot go elsewhere as they take your credit card details to lock you in! You are left to the end of the day, and still pay full price for this lower level of service. I will no longer be attending this practice in future! There are so many better practices around that provide a better standard of service.
I am giving one star not due to the drs as my dr is fantastic however this is merely due to the average time you wait to see a dr is an hour. You make an appointment to be informed their was a medical emergency or the dr is running a bit behind. If this was the case, why aren’t the patients given a courtesy call regarding the delay. I have been a patient for 15 years and I walked out of the clinic today due to be waiting 50 minutes to see the nurse and still had not been seen
I have brought my family here for over 15 years. We have our preferred doctor within the practise but are always happy to see any doctor if she is not available. It is true, the wait times can be lengthy on occasion but rest assured once you are in with a doctor they will not rush you. The doctors are thorough and genuinely caring. This practise has old fashioned values and care for each patient individually. A doctors surgery like this is sadly hard to find these days.
This used to be our family doctor until we moved places. We have a 3 week old who has a temperature and were told by nurse on call to see a doctor immediately. As we are existing patients there we called to see if there was spot available. The rude person on the phone said you havnt been here in a while and to call the doctors you have been seeing. What a disgusting attitude to risk the health of a newborn
I have been going to Doctors of Ivanhoe for many years. I have my preferred doctor whom I usually see, yes there wait times can blow out but this is the case with most medical practitioners and yes there is an out of pocket cost. I am more than happy with the service provided given that once I am in consultation with my doctor she spends what ever time I need with me and is always very thorough.
Doctors here are knowledgeable, kind and compassionate. I don’t mind waiting a bit, because I know that they are spending time to properly understand and examine the patient. if you call a receptionist before you come in, they will tell you if doctor is behind - so not an issue for me.
The staff are amazing and Dr Charles Ouna is outstanding. Has cared for my husband and I for nearly a decade and we were so sad when we relocated far away and couldn’t see him again. We would see him again in a heartbeat.
