Zero stars, please don't choose this doctor for your own health and respect. I had an appointment with dr. Salek, I went there 30 mins before my appointment and I was really surprised how this doctor and his employees managed the appointments with patients specially in this dangerous period of covid 19, the room was full of patients and there was a short difference between appointments. I had to wait one hour and 20 minutes after my preschedualed appointment to see finally MR. GREAT DOCTOR, hopping to have enough time to discuss my health problem, but in reality what I found was a business man who was calculating the seconds to gain money from as much as he can of people in pain. I swear that he didn't spend more than one minute with me telling me conclusions that was the opposite of what I have of many health examinations, I followed him from room to another trying to telling him what I already did and heard from other doctors, but he escaped with a stupid answers, just to finish with me to see another patient, so, to gain more money. Unfortunately this is the health system in the USA, no controls, no legal limits that rule the behavior of such unmoral inhuman unrespectful persons. I waited one hour and 20 mints to be seen for just one minute, and for sure he will receive a full payment from my insurance. Shame on you Salek Ata, you r not a doctor, it's better for you to open a a commercial shop to gain money than gambling on other persons health gathering them during covid 19 epidemic like animals in your waiting room, without any respect for their lives or time. SHAME ON YOU.
Staff are rude, incompetent, unprofessional, atrocious, awful, and careless. Words can not explain how bad Dr. Salek's office staff are especially PATRONA. Seems like they all do not give a rats a$$ about getting orders signed and returned or cooperating with neither patients or home health agencies that are the ones taking CARE of the patient. I called the lady in charge of getting orders signed (PATRONA). She states that the doctor does not like to be faxed orders and they need to be mailed in. Our agency has mailed many orders and evaluations that need to be signed immediately because they concern the patient's health and well-being. It has been over 4 months, after repeated calls and follow-up conversations, nothing comes of it and each time Patrona has the same old excuse of "were all backed up", "we're really busy with clinical things and other stuff", " home health is not a priority, to be honest". Seems like they will never get to sign anything or mail back anything. Seriously, really... I mean REALLY?! This lady needs to get a taste of her own medicine. How is home health NOT a priority, when WE are the ones continuing care for YOUR patient that YOU referred to us ?! Stupid people at this place. Strongly encourage prospective patients to definitely NOT come here, waste of time and your health.
I became a patient of Doctor Salek back in the late seventies when he was sharing an office with another doctor in the Memorial area. He was new to that office and had not built a patient following at that time. Actually, I went to see my own doctor, but the office was extremely busy that day and I was asked if I would mind seeing the new doctor Ata T.(Tom ) Salek MD, I did not object and from that day forward doctor Salek was my doctor. He was, and still is the kindest most caring doctor I have ever known. I continued to follow him where ever he went while he was working to become established in Houston. When he acquired his permanent office on Long Point road, I went there for many years. I had moved to the Museum District close to downtown Houston but doctor Salek was worth the drive. He was always available to listen when I needed help and support dealing with a friend I had become the carer of. When Doctor Salek moved to his current address I continued to drive even further to see him because he is the SIMPLY THE BEST. Unfortunately I got to the point where I could no longer tolerate the ignorant, arrogant rudeness of his office staff. I am to this day, still saddened at not being a patient of doctor Salek, I adored the man but I detested his office staff.
Lovelovelove my dr salek❤in reference to the review from the person prior to mine.....ALL i can say is u gotta get to know him better & learn his habits once u accomplish that then you'll understand WHY (HE) DR ATA SALEK IS THE BEST!OK....PEOPLE NOW COME ON!!!!! i just read more of these reviews& i HAVE TO EDIT!!!!..REALLY!!!Dr Salek's staff!!!!? They have been with him along time!..YEs! He (THEY) HAVE AWHOLE LOT OF PATIENT'S TO DEAL WITH...AND on a daily basis!!! I'd put $$$$ on it with ANYONE OF YA WHO THINKs U COULD/ WOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE ALL of their "sick, whinny, impatient, anxious" patients "such as myself" ...(AND KEEP IN MIND) EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!! BCUZ U KNOW What!!!!! I COULDN'T/ WOULDN'T NEVER BE ABLE TO HANDLE IT!!!!....(infact).....the only way I'd even be willing to try is if dr salek injected me w/ liquid anxiety medication several times a day!!!....lol...SO MAYBE, next time ya feel the urge to say such horrible things about "the staff" think twice!!!!!!.....Patrona, this is for u girl!!!!!!!AND THE REST OF THE GANG!!!!!!!
I have seen many doctors before, and have been to many medical offices, this was the worst. When you book a doctor’s appointment, you’re booking a time to discuss your case thoroughly, understand what’s going on, and ask any questions you have. Dr. Salek showed no respect to any of the above, and showed no appreciation of our time, money, and the long distance we drove just to see him. He would walk out of the room during my appointment time and go see another patient without requesting or explaining why he’s leaving. I had to go outside to the lobby, talk to a nurse in order for him to come back and answer my questions. This happened twice. After he came back, he showed a bad attitude when answering my questions, and said “why come to me, go see a specialist” and “you don’t need to take a medicine for everything just bear the pain”. He referred us to other doctors and left immediately. This is my first time ever writing a bad review on a professional doctor, but my experience was exceptionally terrible.
Dr. Salek is one of the best doctors I have ever seen. Very kind, knowledgeable, caring and concerned! I have experienced unprofessionalism from his staff the last few visits, most recent as today. Waited over 30 minutes in the lobby, without tapping on the window as posted all over the office. The nurse came out and asked if I had been helped. I said no. I told her I was a walk-in that I needed to see Doctor. In a very unprofessional tone of voice, she told me Dr. salek wouldn’t be in until the afternoon and I could come back after 2:00pm and wait to see him! I told her I couldn’t do that. I let her know how unprofessional the receptionist had been towards Fed Exp man and me. She never opened her window and he finally tapped on it and then left package on window seal. When she opened the window the package fell! That’s when my presence was acknowledged! There needs to be a more caring personalized sign-in system! Also, hours for doctor appointments need to be posted!
Dr salek's bedside manner is excellent. He is so caring and a great doctor. But the office front and the ones answer the phone are rude and unprofessional. They purely ruin his reputation and deter patients. They don't want to follow up and try to push back with requested forms to be handled by the office for the sake of insurance and medical supplies. A form sent to the office by the medical supply company is sitting there for two weeks to be signed by the doctor for a medical device which is a immediate need. This is the job of the office manager and nurses to see these are done and when I called the lady who answered the phone said, it takes couple of days to be done and when I said it has been more than 2 weeks, then she says "i said it takes 14 days" and instead of being helpful and apologetic was irritated and rude, not trying to offer any help and says doctor does it on his pace.
Hilarious. Notice how most of these negative reviews are from people with middle eastern names? As a long-term, frequent patient of Dr. Salek’s, I know exactly who these people are because I’ve witnessed them in action in the office. These people come waltzing into Dr Salek’s expecting special treatment because they speak Arabic, bringing their entire families with their kids, wanting to spend hours of Dr. Salek’s time and get free treatment just for being Middle Eastern. They’re loud, unkempt, and flat out rude and disrespectful to the other patients who wait patiently to see this awesome doctor. It’s clear these people made a concerted effort to leave him bad reviews and lower his rating. Actually, 99% sure they’re all related/friends. Get a life, people. Dr. Salek is the greatest. He’s been my and my family’s doctor since I was a child, and I wouldn’t go to anyone else!!!
I would just like to mimic the words of the reviewer, Joe Mamma, from 2 yrs ago. Obviously nothing has changed since then. The BIGGEST problem by far is the staff. They are just simply incompetent. Dr. Salek appears to be a caring doctor and I didn't have to wait long for to see him, but seriously, he needs to do something about the staff. Also, the facility (Woodlake MRI), that he refers patients to have broken equipment (x-ray down for 3 weeks) or can't be bothered to answer the phone because they are "too busy" (their words not mine). If you are referred to Woodlake MRI, be aware that their "procedure is to call the patient to schedule the apt", but take note, you might be waiting a week or longer for them to call you (at least that was my experience). If Dr. Salek got competent staff my rating would be a lot higher. You're only as good as the people around you.
My mom and dad had been patients of Dr Salak for DECADES! Yet, now that my dad is in memory care and not doing well and cannot go see the doctor, the doctor himself insists my dad has to come in to see him in order for him to prescribe or refill any medication. There is a nurse at his memory care that was able to tell the doctor why that would be an extremely difficult task and not good for my dad. He still insisted upon it. He is on hospice and hospice does not cover this medication, but thankfully is willing to prescribe it since this doctor is being so insensitive to the whole situation. My dad is dying and he wants his money through a visit. Disgusting!
Dr. Salek is an amazing doctor and I only have good things to say about him. Unfortunately, as seen by many other reviews as well, the front staff gives him a horrible reputation. I had to deal with Janet about a week and a half ago. She was very rude and unapologetic. I understand mistakes happen, its all about how you handle them. I asked Janet to have Dr. Salek give me a call and gave them about a week and a half before posting this review. My guess is she never passed along the message. Hopefully things will change with that office as I am sure I will not be the last customer deterred by the front desk staff.
Dr. Salek and the staff are wonderful! He takes his time with you and listens to you. Not the typical race in and race out doctor. I had no wait time. The nurses & office staff were great! After reading some of the reviews, I had to edit mine. I honestly cannot imagine Dr. Salek or the staff ever being as rude as some have said. Maybe the clients have misunderstood the Doctor and the staff, or it's a situation of you can't please some people no matter what. All I know is Dr. Salek was wonderful and appeared to genuinely care about what was going on with my health.
First of all, the one who did the checkup for my mom was the nurse most of the time. Secondly , I told the nurse that my mom doesn't feel good and feels fatigue as she has troubles in her heart , so I thought that Dr. Salik will check her but I felt disappointed! Third, he decreased the dose of thyroid drug to one tablet instead of 2 that's make me send her to emergency room as she had palpitations and dizziness. The past days that I lived were the worst ever! I just liked to share my experience with you. Thanks
He is insensitive and does not care about patient's feelings. All he cares about is how many patients he can see. It is all the quantity of care not the quality. He does not take the time to ask you questions, He is in and out of the examination room so fast. I had to stop him from walking out of the room to finish telling him what is wrong with me. He walks in and leaves the door open when he is talking to you. Other patients and staff can hear everything about you, so much for patient's privacy and HiPAA.
I've been a patient of Dr. Salek's for many, many years. He was with me through breast cancer and my go-to for every other illness or check-up. He always gave me his complete attention and provided excellent care. When I brought my 90 year old mom to Houston, he was a valued resource. My family LOVES our doctor.
My family and I have been seeing Dr. Salek for about 30+ years. He was my first doctor and began seeing me at 7 months. Dr. Salek is loved by all of his patients. He takes a very holistic approach and deeply cares about all of his patients. He is greatly admired and loved within my family!
Dr Salek is my dad and mom doctor, with him I always feel safe on my parents health , he take his time examining them also he go 100 miles extra to check on there health doing all labs and examination, he work hard to make sure they stay healthy, Thankx dr salek for your kindness
I have been a patient of Dr.Salek since I was a kid ( I'm 27 now) , he has always been great and has even gone out of his way for me especially when I need an emergency surgery. Instead of going through the ER he admitted me to the hospital which literally saved me thousands.
I dont recommend any body to this doctor I made x-ray and ultrasound and I have pain called the center they said sent to dr office called dr office to ask about the results and what should I do they said they will check next week although I told them I need to know .
I just want to Thank Dr.Salek and his awesome staff for being so polite and caring. Every visit makes me feel like family and less like a patient. Not every doctor will ask you how your family and kids are doing but Dr.Salek does...Its the little things that count.
To any one that does not like the staff of the doctor you can go somewhere else the staff and the doctor are like family to me I've known them for a very long time and I love going to them they make me feel happy and always treat me with respect and I do the same.
Dr Salek has been my doctor for over 30 years. He is the best!! He is like family. Always caring and seeks to put your best interest first. He has had a roll over of staff several times which is a bit aggravating but people move on. It has never changed him.
This one is for Dr Salek. Paid money for them to take care of my fmla. When they sent the release forms they told them they haven't seen me since 2013. Turns out the doctor had to create a new folder and hasn't finished it yet. Over a month later
I have been a patient of Dr Salek since 1980. He has been not only my Dr., but my Mother's and my kid's Dr. He has a great bedside manber. He listens to you and makes great decisions on your health. I will be a patient of his for years to come.
Dr Salek was a very kind, considerate, and compassionate professional for over ten years for my son Kevin Brumfield, II. His knowledge and bedside manner are exemplary and needed in his profession. His office manager is equally as wonderful.
I been seeing Dr Salek for regular check ups and non urgent care since 2006. He is a very thorough general practitioner. He stays very up to date in medical knowledge and has the entire Hermann Memorial system for referrals if patient needs
Dr. Salak is a wonderful doctor, I liked him the minute I meet him, however, his staff is horrible especially on the phone. They say they will call you back, but never do. They even try to practice medicine by claiming they know what he
Been trying to get my medical records. They won’t send it and keep saying they don’t receive the request from my new doctors office this has been going on for months now. They need to upgrade n stop being only on paper
Takes a long time to get staff on the phone. Staff are rude many times. Dr. Salek is a wonderful caring doctor. His staff is unorganized with wait times as long as 20 minutes on the phone just to make an appointment.
Dr. Salek has the best bed side manner I've ever experienced with a doctor. He listens as if your his only patient. He never rushes while with you and is very caring for all of your concerns. He is the best by far!
Me and my family have been going to Dr. Salek for 20+yrs and he has great bed side manners and very personable. He makes you feel like family. The staff are always nice and thorough. I highly recommend him!!
I have seen Dr.Salek since I was 13. He has always been amazing. The office staff are the best. I love this place and can't stress enough how much the care they provide for me and my family means to me!!!
What can I say?! I saw the reviews and should have known better. My mother is sick and how can they offer an appointment then turn her away because the MD isn't there does that make sense?!!
This is the most wonderful Dr u will ever have. He is always spot on with his diagnosis.Stays up to date with new procedures and medications. Always concerned. U r family to him.

Few days ago, I was at Dr. Salek’s office. I received the utmost courtesy from all of the staff.
Phone calls to his office are not being answered. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
