East Point Park was an unexpected gem that we stumbled upon during our weekend outing, and it turned out to be a delightful surprise for our family picnic. The ample and free parking was a welcome convenience. At the unassuming and urban-looking park entrance, we followed a short stroll along a well-maintained gravel walkway, which led to a small beach accessible by descending some large rocks. While it might not be ideal for those with mobility issues, even our 75+ mother navigated the rocks with our help. East Point Park has a peaceful atmosphere, as it is relatively quiet, granting our family the perfect opportunity to savour the beauty of the surroundings without feeling rushed. The small gravel beach provided a cozy and intimate setting, allowing us to enjoy several hours of quality time by the water. While the space may not accommodate sun tents or BBQ setups, it was just the right size for us to spread out and indulge in pre-made sandwiches while basking in the serenity of the location. The absence of larger crowds only added to the sense of seclusion and relaxation, making it an ideal spot for quiet family bonding. East Point Park may have been stumbled upon by chance, but it undoubtedly left a lasting impression on us. The accessible parking, the short but manageable rocky descent to the small beach, and the uncrowded ambiance made it a perfect destination for a peaceful and enjoyable family picnic. If you're seeking a serene spot to unwind by the water, East Point Park is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered.

A Little Known Toronto - Scarborough Park We love East Point Park for family adventures. Nestled along the Lake Ontario shores between Morningside Road and Port Union Road lies this little oasis. East Point Park has everything you need for a nice day with your family or a great way to spend the day with friends or your partners. It just happens to be one of Toronto's largest parkland areas along the City's east waterfront. Did you know It is also a migratory staging area for monarch butterflies and over 178 species of birds. There are many trails to explore and the park also has two level softball centre pavilion, washrooms, showers, change-rooms, umpire room, indoor lounge and outdoor patio. This is also one of the Parks that run along the Scarborough Bluffs. Like many of the parks along the water, there is always a nice cool breeze coming off the lake even on the hottest, muggiest days. Just off the trials, you can make way down to the beach, part sandy and part rocky shore. It's great for wading and calling off but be careful of the waves and the currents, there are warning signs everywhere, so swim at your own risk. You can also bring chairs and food so you can spend the day chilling out. East Point Park is a great way to spend the day.

East Point Park in Toronto is an absolute must-visit for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. The park boasts stunning views of Lake Ontario, with its crystal-clear waters and tranquil atmosphere. The park also features a variety of hiking trails that wind through lush forests and offer a great workout for those looking to stay active. What sets East Point Park apart from other parks in the city, however, is its beautiful wildlife. The park is home to a variety of bird species, including bald eagles, ospreys, and herons, making it a birdwatcher's paradise. The park is also equipped with several picnic tables and benches, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing picnic or a quiet afternoon with a good book. And, for those who enjoy fishing, the park has a designated fishing area where visitors can cast a line and try their luck. Overall, I highly recommend East Point Park to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city. It's a beautiful park that's perfect for families, couples, and individuals alike. Whether you're a local or a tourist, you're sure to fall in love with the beauty and tranquility of this park.

This is a nice spot for either a leisurely walk through the Bird Sanctuary to the right of the parking lot. As you walk you will have lovely views of the lake in a more wooded rustic walk. To the left of the lot is a paved path that too follows along with the lake. There are many benches and garbage/recycling bins available. Along the water is a sandy beach area at some parts. The path travels east and break into 2 forks one leading to Port Union Waterfront (right) and the other to Colonel Danforth Park (left). I enjoy this location because I feel far away from the noise of the city and the sounds of the lake give me peace and calm. The only one downfall is the water treatment plant is right there, but to make lemonade out of a lemon it can make for some interesting photography.

We are very fortunate to be living in Scarborough...we have this beautiful East Point Park short drive from home. It's a great place to go, alone or with friends. Today, we were with friends from North York who had to travel a good distance to get to this scenic beauty. We climbed to the top of the hill & just took in the beautiful lake, swans swimming, a boat on the horizon, sea gulls doing their thing, geese flying just a foot above the water & through all this, the lake was still, silent and emerald green and clear! Oh what a beautiful sunny afternoon walk with great friends....that's us in the pic, while our wives were clicking the pics.

We rode in this trail for the first time and we like it a lot. It’s very nice and not so crowded, and the most important “It’s free” no fees to enter the park and no fees for the parking lot. What I like about this trail is that it’s besides the shore, so it’s very fresh and beautiful. We went up to the Rouge River beach and rode back. I believe this trail continues up to Pickering. Although it has a couple of beaches swimming here is not recommended. Many people were fishing instead. You can also reach this park by taking a Go Train eastbound to Pickering and get off at Rouge Hill Station.

I stumbled upon this park by chance, and I am so thankful that I did. Not only is this park stunning, but it also has a trail leading to a forest, with the beauty surrounding it from all sides. The parking is free and decent. The entrance to the park was closed, but the butterfly conservation area was open. The trail leads to a small beach. It’s about 2 kilometers long and not very tiring. The exact route also leads to a more considerable parking lot and a water treatment plant. There is a small hill here which gives you vast views of Lake Ontario.

Kind of tucked away from the city, this park is interesting as it's right beside a water treatment plant where you can see billowing steam coming out from the smoke stacks. This park connects to the bird sanctuary on the east side. There's a nice hill that over looks the lake. A small sandy and rocky beach that connects further down the trail. Personally, there's too much garbage lying around both the bird sanctuary and in the beach. Bales of straw hay left on the beach? This park is good for cycling. Not really much to see.

East Point Park features some of Toronto’s most scenic views of the Lake Ontario shoreline. Facing Pickering, its east hill provides the optimal place to watch the sunrise, and it is not uncommon to watch parasailers launching off. Following the grassy trail along the Scarborough bluffs, Bluffer’s Park (8km) and the CN Tower (23km) can also be seen in the distance. East Point Park is the natural habitat for a variety of wildlife, including birds, butterflies, deer, and foxes. Perfect place for a picnic in the Summer!

  • sujan rai

Very nice place if one likes a waterbody . Two parking lots - one near the baseball diamond (this is the main entrance ) the other one is near the dead end curve which takes left to meet the GO train track (both parking lots free parking). The parking near the baseball diamond has washrooms. Excellent sunrise and sunset views. Weekends lot of groups plan and come for hiking. From the last parking lot The paved path shared by pedestrians & cyclist will connect you to either Port Union or colonel Danforth park. .

Lovely place to visit. Lots of stuff to explore, visit and enjoy. One of the best and scenic bike trails, beach area, walking trails, birds sanctuary, calm and quiet atmosphere. This place is 15 minutes away from my home but i often go there for my bike rides strolling the trails with my family. Amazing place to spend time here with family. Beautiful Lake Ontario's beach and greenery will make you calm and relax.

  • Neetu Rana

Such a pretty place, it's a lake but looks like an ocean. Very beautiful... Visit on a sunny day to enjoy it best because it gets really cold when you are close to the shore. You can see people coming here for walk along with their pets. A fun track just like treasure hunt in a forest and then coming to find such a breathtaking view. Visited here twice ....still can't get over...Loved it...

Beautiful paved trail right beside Lake Ontario in the East end of Toronto. Almost bordering Pickering, this trail can stretch to the Pickering waterfront. The trail is wide enough for bikes, pedestrians, bikes, children, etc. The Go train is also beside the trail and the further you go, you are nearby more residential areas. A great spot to go for a walk outside of the downtown core!

  • Tim Chase Photography

The best area for sunrise and sunset. Just to enjoy or your favorite photos. There's a walkway straight down from the parking lot to the beach areas. Parking lot is more than big enough and free. At one time it was a popular spot for nude bathers but now signs posted no nudity. Just west of the park is a bird sanctuary. You can follow the paths east by bike or walking. Enjoy my photos

  • Elle G

Not a busy park with picturesque bridges. Good place for a stroll and/ or biking and bird sanctuary for bird watching. There are certain areas where portion of the paved trail were damaged more likely because of the rising water level from the lake. It is close to a water treatment plant so it has the faint to strong sewage smell depending on your proximity to the plant.

  • Antara Arif

Great view but not a great place for taking kids. And people there were being so inconsiderate, they were doing bbq on the trail!?! Lots of mosquitoes, so can’t be there when it’s close to sunset. And also while we were returning, we saw some drunk and probably “on drugs” public just got there. So won’t go back with my kids. Nope …

  • Umair Malik

Beach is nice and very peaceful. Free parking. I went on Sunday and still it was not that busy just few people and kids playing with water. There no maintenance of this place whatsoever. You’ll see bottles cans and garbage everywhere so be careful. Other than that it’s very nice and quite beach.

  • Ki

This is a very nice and sort of secluded park that not many people go to. Probably because of the area (factories and what not) but it's really nice! I'd definitely recommend it if you wanna go for a hike and follow a simple trail with some really nice views. The breeze is always nice here too!

  • Emma Vossen

Nice paths. A bit muddy. We went on a coldish day in May and the air was totally thick with bugs. You will want to wear your mask unless you like inhaling 100 bugs every time you open your mouth! Will defo try again when it's warmer. You can go right down to the water which is amazing.

  • James L

A hidden little park area that really spreads out with trails and places to explore. Head down a paved path towards the lake and find a small sandy beach area or climb the nearby hill for a spectacular view. Parking on site and free of charge.

  • Da Ria

Great park with beautiful Lake Ontario views, good fo cycling and hiking. There are a few hills here, be prepare for climbing. Waterfront trail is really gorgeous. Free parking lot, no public washrooms. Usually not very clean grounds around…

  • Colleen Bentley

Great pathways for walking, running, or biking, through beautiful canopy of trees. Takes you down to point where you can connect to trail to Rouge Park or turn west to another trail. Free parking in the lot and also has an area to picnic.

  • Harsh Jaswal

One of the best spots to just sit, relax and unwind. The place is quite peaceful and you get to see the Pickering on the left and beautiful views of Lake Ontario. There is beach as well if you wanna take a dip in the summers. You can

  • Huy Bui

The parking lot is rather a far walk from the trail. Thus you should drive past the parking lot until you see a lot of cars parking along the curb. The best spot is where the rusty sign "East Point Park Bird Sanctuary" is erected.

  • Moktadir Kabir

I went there this summer. It’s a beautiful park. Plenty of free parking spaces. You can walk down the well decorated walkways or through the trail in the jungle and reach a small beach. Some people come here for bird watching.

  • Sab Sayzz

Absolutely favorite instant getaway zone when you want to find some peace and calmness to unwind from the busy city life but right within the city. Quiet, serene yet magnanimous place for short visits or weekend sunsoaking.

  • richie law

City within a Park: Best description of all parks in Toronto this one is up there. They have a bird sanctuary but I did not see too many birds. Wish they had more portable potties there or at least one in the parking lot.

  • Christian Nadavallil

Wonderful strip of beaches all contained within East Point Park. Trails are being redone as pat of the Pan Am Path and Waterfront Trail. You will often see all sorts of folks by themselves, with groups, families, etc

  • Yug Vaishnav

I live close near to this park so I usually come here for running or just a stroll. This is undoubtedly the one of the best trails and beach area in Scarborough. The sunrise view from here is breathtakingly beautiful.

  • Alamjot Mangat

A beautiful park with a ton of places to explore. Right next to a water treatment plant, has free parking. Butterflies, birds, mushrooms and views of the lake. This place has it all, really pretty during the summer.

  • D'Silva

Place is nothing but full of mosquitoes. People who are allergic to mosquito bite, please be careful n take precautions before heading to this place. Otherwise it's a nice place for walk or biking or running.

  • Cameron Nixon

Unfortunately the bridge is out heading east so the really limits the ability to explore. Otherwise great views. A climb to the top of the hill beside the parking lot will reward you with some nice views.

  • Melissa Zhai

The view is SPECTACULAR. We found a lovely vantage point in the bird conservation area - not many people either. What a gem. Amazing way to clear your head during the pandemic - please wear masks!

  • Waseem M

One of the hidden gem in Scarborough. There are hardly any visitors during winter or summer. Haa a good trail for walking. Free parking spot, great place by the lake for evenings.

Awsome part of the water front trail, currently there is construction and you can't pass Highland Creek from this end during the time of the post June 11 2022. Just a heads up.
