Eastern has plenty of cars in Brooklyn and offers a decent rate to JFK and LGA ($35 fixed cash price), which is hard to beat. However, they do things at their own pace and their own way. My drivers have often been late (sometimes up to 30 minutes) and are usually not polite or helpful with luggage. Most recently my driver made me walk half a block with heavy luggage to meet him at a corner - unacceptable. The drivers like to guilt trip riders into paying cash and tipping extra. These issues are typical of NYC taxi and car services, but this is a limo service and more should be expected! And before you think you will get any help from their Customer Service, don’t even bother. They are curt and rude, and rarely offer any help or solution to the problem. They always side with their drivers leaving the customer to debate whether the price is worth the troubles. Just the other day, I had a nighttime pickup scheduled at JFK and no one was there when I arrived. When I called the home base to find out what happened, he gave me an excuse of "traffic." First of all, we are in NYC so they should always expect heavy traffic. However, when the driver arrived 30 minutes later, he told me the dispatcher didn't even have record of the pickup but luckily the driver was somewhat nearby and got there within 20 minutes of the call. When I called the base back, they had no answers but told me a manager would call me the next day. It has now been three days. I called today again and no manager was available... go figure. Their customer service is appalling, as they never take blame for faults and are condescending and heartless when you speak to anyone. That may be their biggest downfall. If someone would just pretend to have sympathy when things go awry, and maybe make a tiny step of faith that you want to maintain my business, it would go a long way. That doesn't happen. In fact, quite the opposite. I strongly suggest using another service, as they must forget there are so many in the city, let alone the exact same area even. Check Castle Car Service ratings... time to give someone else a try.

When I asked for a discount for the mess of a situation, and their delay they said, "there is no discount, it is what it is." Myself, another adult, and 9 young girls are standing in the cold waiting. When an hour and a half later one of the suvs actually arrives, I'm informed that the other will be another 20 minutes. At that point we hop into a quickly arriving Uber and just cancel the second vehicle. We had a pick up scheduled for 3 pm and to avoid any confusion or delay because I had to get my group back by a certain time, I attempted to call the base about 6 times with no answer. A driver finally calls me around 2:55 to explain that he is 10 mins away. When I asked him where the other driver was, he said he couldn't get in contact with the base because no one was answering, so he had no idea. I told him that if he gets in contact with them to tell them to cancel the other driver because the rest of the group willl be hopping into an Uber. Uber gets there in no time, and within minutes I get a text message from the driver that reads, "This is not a game or cooking boiling eggs, I drove 25 minutes to guide a service and you cancel the call 3 minutes before arrive you place!!! Check your brains And hearth" Verbatim. I call him to request that he cease sending me any further messages and that he address any issues with his base, but before I could get any words in he was just screaming and yelling. Professional service? No way. Punctual? Maybe in a past lifetime. I'm not sure they understand how exactly to do business. I wanted to like you Eastern Car Service, but I'll reporting your driver and your company to TLC. Good day.

I returned from a flight and called Eastern to pick me up at LaGuardia. I was told it would take 20 minutes. The construction at LaGuardia requires that passengers take a shuttle bus to a pick up area, which I did. Once there, I received a call from a driver after at least 15 minutes had passed. He informed me that it would be another 25 minutes until he could arrive. He asked me at least three times if I would like to cancel and call someone else. I said no since I assumed any other service would have the same traffic issues. I waited for 35 minutes and called the driver back. He seemed confused and first told me that another driver was coming to get me. I said he had not arrived. Then he told me that he thought I had canceled. He then told me to call the main office and hung up. When I called the office they told me that the driver told them I had canceled. By this time it was very late and I was upset. The dispatcher told me another car would be there in 10 minutes. After about 20 minutes a driver did come. He drove me to my home but continually complained that he was actually off duty but had come to get me anyway. When we got to my street I said , " I live by that first fire hydrant". He drove past the fire hydrant and was down nearly half a block by the other fire hydrant before I could get him to stop. He said to me rudely that it was a fire hydrant just as I asked, and then he took my luggage out and set it on the sidewalk. I ended up Having to carry 2 heavy suitcases back to my house over half a block. Members of my family have used Eastern for years but none of us ever will again.

TWIMC, I called for car service today at 4:10PM at the corner of Coffey St. And Van Brunt. 35 minutes passed and I called for an update and was told it would be a minute so I waited a little longer and nothing. When I called in the dispatcher advised he didn't know what I was talking about so after my explanation he checked the issue and he advised that the driver already picked me up and dropped me off. I explained that was impossible since I was still waiting for the driver. He put on hold then explained upon return that the driver picked up another passenger and that the second call I made had another driver dispatched but he was stuck in heavy traffic according to his Google Maps. I asked why wasn't I called and advised about the pickup or advised when I called the second time of the heavy traffic. The person told me that I needed to leave my number with them so they could call me since they do not have caller ID. I told him I left my number the first time I called and this was unacceptable. He told me he was going to speak with his coworker and then he hung up the phone. When I called back another person answered the phone and when I explained the call dropped he said he didn't know what I was talking about and if I was calling for a taxi. In the background I heard a person laughing loudly so I just hung up the phone. This is very poor service and will not be calling your company again or refer anybody to you as well. I’ve used eastern for almost 10 years and I will never use them again. Their service has completely changed the last two times I’ve tried to use them. You no longer get confirmation texts, the app doesn’t work, and they can’t even tell you what the license plate number of the car you’re supposed to get in is. During my last experience, a driver was 45 minutes late for an airport pickup and when I called the office the dispatchers didn’t pick up until the 5th attempt, and then just said “your car is on the way we can’t tell you anything more. It will be either a black or white car.” When the car showed up, it wasn’t even a car from Eastern, but instead from Mexicana car service. The driver told me that Easter had called her after they didn’t have any cars available. She also said her airport flat rate was different. None of this would have been a problem if the Eastern dispatchers would have just communicated this clearly, but instead they were completely sketchy and unhelpful. I tried to have a calm and kind conversation with them so make sure I was getting in the right car and I ultimately was put on hold and then hung up on. The driver they sent instead was also not up to the same standard I’ve come to expect from Eastern — she had open food in the car and was not wearing a mask. This experience was the straw that broke the camel’s back and I’m so bummed to have to find a new car service. Best of luck to all others.

Probably the worst car service I've ever used in NY. I used them because they offer baby car seats option at a reasonable price. This is reasonable because they do not bother to install it but only throw it in the car with the regular seat belt. We had a mini van picked us up from JFK to the city and it was so dangerous to leave this seat unfixed I had to keep my baby in my arms. The plane was late thus so were we. When we were finally out at 11pm with our luggage and baby, after 10 hours of travel, the driver was not waiting for us. When we called to inquire, he found it was normal to tell us our plane was an hour late so we could wait for him 20 minutes, not mentioning the 10 minutes of uninterrupted upset comments we got when he finally showed up. They tried to charge us 20$ for late arrival, including the 30 minutes we spent waiting for the driver. We explained the situation to dispatch and they reduced the "late" fee to 10$, but the driver spent almost the rest of the trip over the phone, lying in Spanish about how much he and we waited and how they should charge us more. We speak fluent Spanish :) I've been traveling regularly to the city for 15 years, using car services from JFK to the city. Trying Eastern Car Service was a mistake I won't make again, and I strongly discourage others to try unless there is a significant change in the way they conduct their business.

This company used to be great but recently turned into garbage. I started using them about 2 years ago and they were always on time, friendly, and fair with their rates and business practices. About 2 months ago, I scheduled a pickup for 6AM to make a flight to Florida and the cab didn't show up until 6:25AM. The driver was unapologetic, but I made my flight and figured that things happen and they can't be perfect 100% of the time, so I let it go. Tonight was another story. I called for a pickup and the dispatcher told me it would be "about 12 dollars" for the ride. I asked him if they accepted credit, and he told me that they did and I could call in to pay once I arrived at my destination. When we made it back to the apartment, the driver told me it was 13 bucks. OK, 1 dollar, no biggie. I called it in and the dispatcher told me it was now 18 dollars since I was paying via credit card. When I reminded him that I called in advance and told them I'd be paying via credit card, he said they gave me the "cash rate." After a minute or so of arguing over this nonsense, I proceeded to give him my credit card info but he "was missing a number" and needed me to confirm it again. I then told him I'd pay cash (I had $15 in my wallet cash) and he told me that the charge already went through. This company is suddenly very sketchy and unethical. I will not be calling them again.

An employee at Eastern Car Service was the assigned driver to pick up my mother from Ashland pl. after a doctor appointment she had. He called her at 3:07pm and she returned his call at 3:10pm. She proceeded to get into is vehicle where he used profane language because he said she was late. He drove her up the block and then kicked her out of the vehicle due to her not allowing him to continue speaking to her in the manner he was so rudely conducting. He never processed the ride and or accepted it because once I spoke to the base, the individual who picked up my call, made me aware that it showed as a "no pick up". For the record, my mother has a boot on her foot and was walking with a cane as she has a broken foot. The driver seems to have not been in the right state of mind and it worries me that any driver would risk a passengers welfare on or off the job. I would hope that no individual (s) would ever have to be treated so inhumanely. The employee is a reflection of the company and since he is still employed, that shows me how important the clientele is to Eastern Car Service. My family has been using them for years and this is just very disappointing that we gave as much business to this company that clearly cares nothing about the welfare of their customers.

I don't normally post reviews, especially negative ones but this time I just have to. I have tried Eastern Car Service time and time again - but will not waste my time any longer. Today's experience is just a reflection of the service I receive EVERY time I call. 2.30pm - reserve car online. 2:40pm receive email confirmation that driver is on the way. 3:20pm - no sign so call them - told car is 10 minutes away. 3:45pm - Still no sign so call again - told they are still trying to find me a car (obviously last car wasn't on the way) and that they would be there in 15 minutes. 4:00pm - Get a text from Eastern to say my reservation had been cancelled. Call them - they are surprised I still want a car and say that it will be 30 minutes before one can get to me. Given that the location I was attempting to be picked up from was in Williamsburg - it wasn't grossly out of the way for them. Overall the process took 2 hours and in the end, I still didn't have a ride! I called another car service who had a car to me within 3 minutes, who charged me half the price I usually pay with Eastern. I have found my new best friends.

Rude and terrible! I just moved to Brooklyn and the area park slope it’s nothing but friendly people and neighbors any business you call or walk into it’s simply polite. On this Sunday I called and requested a driver to take me to the Bronx the girl on the phone told me she can send a cab but the driver might not go to the Bronx I told her don’t send a driver not willing to go and she simply hung up I called back and my calls were picked up and hung up unbelievable I finally got through using a different phone # and the rude girl picks up and I asked again and asked why she hung up she hung up again and said her drivers were not willing to go out there which was a lie because Saturday night I called eastern and requested a car to go to the Bronx and he placed me on hold for about a minute and then told me 5 minutes however the girl working on Sundays is just nasty and rude hanging up on customers never using this car service again! Arecibo car service was my second option and I’m glad I called them excellent customer service on phone and the driver as well !! Stay away from eastern car service !!

I've been using Eastern for many years. .and as I have a disability, I depend on their being easy to reach and on time. They were 5 star before the pandemic, and while I understand that everyone had problems during the pandemic....they should be back to normal now. The fact is that only a few weeks ago, I had a doctor's appt way over on the east side of Manhattan. I booked a ROUND TRIP and confirmed it 3x!!! The drop-off was fine. But the pickup for the trip back to Brooklyn was a nightmare. They STRANDED me at the doctor's office. The evening dispatcher said he couldn't get me a car, even tho I had reserved one. That he wasn't responsible for reservations made by the morning dispatcher. Is that unbelievable??? He seemed totally indifferent to my situation. I use a walker and can't walk a block, and i can'twalk steps....and I panicked at out how I would get home during rush hour. Finally, I called a limousine company and they sent a car, at almost 2X the price!!!... and got me home. I haven't used Eastern since. I'm honestly afraid to make a round-trip reservation, and be stranded again!!

While many drivers are fine, I’ve encountered so many sketchy ones over the past 6 years of using Eastern. They’ll try to overcharge you, try to charge for wait fees even when the company advertises flat airport pickup rates with no additional fees, and often they’ll claim that they can’t take credit card or that their reader is not working. Last night I was told my total was $110 for a ride that should have been $88 according to the website and the personal I spoke to on the phone when booking the car. We had to get Eastern on the line to work it out and ended up agreeing on $98 which meant I just wouldn’t be tipping the driver since I normally would have tipped $10 on a $88 ride. Driver then proceeded to charge $107 to my credit card without my approval and claimed the extra was for tax which is totally bogus. Now I’m getting my credit card involved because Eastern is giving me the run around. I will never use this service again, it is total trash now…better off using an overpriced app-based ride for the convenience and less unpredictable scenarios.

I use their services regularly, and have never had a problem other than the car being 2-5 minutes later than the dispatchers estimated time ( A seemingly normal issue amongst the other car services in the neighborhood). However, Eastern Car Service 's drivers stand apart, in my opinion, from all the rest because on many occasions they have gone beyond what I normally expect from a car service. They help with any extra baggage I may be carrying, and when I travel with my Infant daughter, they help us into the car, and always have seats available when I ask for one in advance, or make a reservation online. Also, the drivers are really friendly, drive very safely, and are very professional in their line of work. My family and I have used them for years, and many of the drivers even know us by name. I recommend them to all of my friends who fly into JFK airport, La Guardia Airport, or Newark airport, and they are often very pleased when they find the driver waiting for them outside of the terminal. Eastern has been my reliable go-to car service for years. I always love the drivers and prices are extremely affordable ($35 cash to JFK). Recently I have found it difficult to get someone on the phone so I decided to download their app as they have clearly downsized staff. BIG MISTAKE. I recommend ALWAYS CALL TO MAKE RESERVATION. I made my reservation on my iphone while I was in Colorado for a 5:45 am pick-up in NYC however when I was showed up at JFK no driver to be found. Apparently, due to the different time zones, the booking appeared as a 7:45 pickup in their system even though it showed 5:45 when I was in CO. Instead of apologizing, when I called Eastern the gentleman on the phone told me it was my fault and the app was fine. Thankfully I took a screenshot at the time of the reservation as proof so he soon backtracked and said he would make note of it. Hopefully they get this sorted as this is not a reliable way to make reservations.

I scheduled home pickup at 5.15 PM for EWR airport which is an hour away and the driver showed up at 6.05 PM. I waited till 5.40PM and when I called the dispatch, I found the driver was about 20 miles away from my location and hence I decided to drive my own car and part at the airport. The dispatch calls me at 6.05 to inform me that driver had just arrived and that they were going to charge me full for the unused service. I argued that it was their fault showing up 50 minutes late and the dispatch argued that delays happen and I must pay in full. What a shame!! they cant show up on time causing me to make a last minute decision to park my car at airport for three weeks spending $420 and on top of that I was forced to pay in full for the unused car service. This car service is bogus. They ask for credit card number at the time of scheduling but I wouldnt recommend giving them CC number at all.

Whenever traveling with this company, I usually have to call multiple times to get a car to my house. Today not only did I have to call multiple times but they said my car would be at my house in 10 minutes so I waited. The car hadn’t came within those 10 minutes so I assumed there must be traffic and they’ll be here soon. 30 minutes had went by, I called the company again informing them that my car hadn’t arrived at all. They said that they were still waiting for a car and that there were no cars in my area. I gave them my phone number during the first call so if she found out that this was the case after the call she could’ve sent a text to my number informing me. She also could've told me during the first call. If she tells me a car will be at my house in 10 mins I’d expect a car within that time frame, and a car hadn’t even been dispatched to my house by the time I called 30 minutes later.

We had initially called several different transportation service companies to obtain a quote to be transported from Brooklyn to La Guardia Airport and received quotes of $80 to $130. When I called Eastern Car Service I was quoted a price of $30. When I booked the service for 3 am the next morning, I immediately received a confirmation text. After reading reviews, I was very skeptical and planned a back up ride to the airport in order to ensure we did not miss our flight. The next morning we called at 2 am to confirm our reservations and was told the driver will be there at 3 am as requested. At 2:45 am, we received a call from the driver indicating he was 10 minutes away. The driver arrived promptly (Zahid Hossain), assisted us with our luggage and was very professional. The car was a new 2014 vehicle, clean and very comfortable. I was very pleased and will use this service again.

I’ve used Eastern several times before to commute in the city with my dogs because they purport to be dog friendly (and generally have been in the past). I booked a trip, and called multiple times to confirm that the driver would be dog friendly. I waited over two hours for a car. I called multiple times to find out what was going on and was told that the driver was on the way, that the driver had picked someone else up but a new driver was coming, that the driver was stuck in traffic nearby, etc. I was left on hold for long stretches of time - ten minutes at one point. I was eventually told (again, after two hours of waiting) that once the drivers learned I had dogs, they canceled and that the evening dispatcher couldn’t commit to the reservations confirmed earlier in the day. Had I had that information earlier, I would have had time to change my plans before wasting my time.

I have used this car service multiple times for airport transportation, and the “flat rate” has been different every time. I used to be willing to put up with this interesting inconsistency because service was ok. The most recent time I scheduled a ride (more than 8 hours in advance), however, the driver was more than 30 minutes late (he had said he would be only 5 minutes late, and also went to the wrong address, and I had to walk to him). I asked dispatch for a discount, because the service I paid for (a ride from a certain place at a certain time) was not delivered, and dispatch insisted that it would get taken out of their paychecks if they gave me any amount off. Corrupt business practices like this and unprofessional customer relations have ensured I won’t be coming back. I’d rather pay more and know my ride is coming than get guilt tripped and told inconsistent prices.

Awful. Simply awful. I was stranded after my car broke down and called for a ride. The driver arrived almost 20 minutes after he said he would be there. When I called dispatch for the car I told them I only had my credit card and could not pay cash. They said it would not be a problem. I even asked the driver when I got in if it would be a problem. He said it was fine (Spoiler: He was not great). Aside from talking on his cell phone the entire time, he got lost, I had to show him the address on my phone and he took at least 5 wrong turns after I clarified where I was going several times. When we finally got there I tried to hand him my card AND WITHOUT EVEN TRYING IT, he told me his machine was broken and I would need to pay by phone for an additional 5$. Maybe it was a bad driver, but this service was terrible and I will never use them again. Uber from now on.

I wish I could give zero stars. Worst experience ever. I was charged $102 for a meet and greet service st Newark airport to drive to jersey city. It's usually only a $35 uber, but I was traveling with my infant son and needed help with luggage and a car seat.The driver was 45 minutes late and by that time my bags were taken off the carousel by the airline. When I asked for a discount, the dispatcher said it wasn't their fault the driver was late and there was nothing they would do about it. The driver didn't even have the infant seat installed when he arrived, and I had to stand in the cold with my baby while he installed it. Worst of all, the seat was not properly installed for an infant and did not accommodate babies withoutneck control. Disgusted by the lack of care and customer service for such a high price. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I've been using Eastern for some time now (I stopped using Arecibo because they pulled a couple of fast ones on me). this past week they have stood me up, confirmed a mini van for a families going to the airport (at my recommendation) the day before and one hour before again, but the van never showed up. Finally they sent 2 cars (late) who confirmed that Eastern does not have any cars with capacity to fit 7 people. Today one of their drivers tried to bully me into paying more (a limo) insisting that the dispatcher had said a different price. after a lot of arguing we negotiated, but the dispatcher never knew where I was going, so it was just a lie, and this happens often. just opened an uber account. I don't care if I have to pay more, at least I know they will come and I will pay an agreed price

Basically I am calling to go to dialysis their dispatcher decides to make me wait 40 mins without sending me the car. This is not the first time this has happened with this dispatcher. He says "sending the car in 5 mins" they send you a basic text then you wait 20 mins and the car and no other text comes. You call back and they hang up on you then when they do get you on they say "sending the car in 3 mins" again no msg other than a simple one. No return call nothing. You call back now another 20 mins have gone by and they say "oh sorry the driver left". Again these guys have a racket going they are either selling drugs through their service or are just being abusive. I can't see them making any decent money otherwise since they are never on time, never accurate and always rude.

i waited 55 minutes in the rain for a taxi that never showed up. I called the station twice to find out how much longer would my taxi be. The female dispatcher was very rude to me and she replied my driver was 5 minutes away After 15 minutes the driver didn"t show up I called back again she was very rude and unprofessional and she replied "your driver said you didn"t want to wait" which wasn't true if I'm calling you back still waiting to be picked up. So she said "oh well I don't have any drivers" no apology or anything. Is this how you treat your customers? I was a frequent rider with eastern but after this experience I have made up my mind not to use this car service again! This is not the first time that this dispatcher had been very rude and unprofessional over the phone.

Sure, this car service may be a dollar or two less, but when you call a car, it's because you want to save time. By waiting up to 35 minutes for this car service, you save neither time nor money. I've lived in Park Slope for over 30 years, I've been using this car service for over 15 of those years and I can assure you that I will never use them again. When you call and ask how long until your car arrives, the operator never fails to tell you 'five minutes.' It doesn't matter if it's 10 minutes or 35 minutes, your time is never as valuable as his. So if you want to save time, buy a bike, take the subway, walk, jog, hitchike - any of these methods will get you to your destination faster. If you want to save money all the methods I mentioned are good for the same.

I've had a variety of disappointing experiences with Eastern, but today's ride ended so insanely there's no way I will ever use them again. It was so bad the driver blatantly lied and said he didn't know his bosses name, so I'd have no way of contacting someone to report my issue to. I take car service frequently for work, and I've continued to use them through the ups and downs because I like the idea of using what I believe is a family-owned, local business. Look at their Yelp reviews, their Better Business Bureau rating, and then do yourself the favor of using ANY other service. Uber and Lyft and other local businesses are basically the same price (sometimes cheaper!) AND they provide some customer service and are honest with their prices from the get go.

Today I had to take my cat to the emergency vet. I was crying the whole way there, it was a horrible situation. I told Eastern where I was going when booking. I had to tell the driver 3 more times because he couldn't retain the information, and this was bad considering how upset I was. When I got to my destination, I was so upset I accidentally ripped the cash. The bill was whole, just ripped, and it was all I had. The driver, the one who couldn't remember the destination, said he wouldn't take it (because scotch tape is too hard) and that he would wait for me to come out of the vet. I told him I had no idea how long I would be, and we were obviously not going to resolve this. My cat was my issue, not his issue with scotch tape. Absolutely heartless.

I have been using Eastern for nearly twenty years. Most times they are reliable and fair with prices. On my most recent trip, the driver charged me $40.00. I used my card but I was unable to tip because there was not a prompt. I apologized and he said not to worry about it and thought that he was really cool. When I called to get an itemized receipt a few days later, I realized the fare was really $35.00 and he took it upon himself to add his own gratuity without letting me know. Funny thing is, he would have gotten more. Even though I like using the company,I definitely did not appreciate the dishonesty. Made a reservation online for 2:30am for a 5am flight at Newark airport. The driver never showed, I called, they told me their system went down. I followed up multiple times to contact the manager. When I checked my online account it reported me as a no show and that the fare was the amount due. Basically customer service is not their strong suit if you have a problem....but who needs a problem when you are making an airport run!? No Thankyou. Gonna try some apps, and I hear Aracibo is pretty reliable. *update* its been 11 months. I dont regret taking eastern out of my life. LYFT & Mex Express Car service have been great. Today google alerted me that 500 people have been helped by my review. You're welcome!

My sister and law had a 8am boarding time at LaGuardia this morning - we called an made a reservation the night before for 6:15a. At 6:15a, the driver hadn't shown up and it's only after we spent 10 mins calling Eastern that we were told the driver decided not to show up. A car didn't get to my place until 6:45am. When I called Eastern to see if a discount could be applied, I was told "sorry I don't have power to make those decisions call tomorrow." Incidents like this and others are why all you yellow taxis and black car services will continue to lose to Uber. Learned my lesson - for all my guests that have early morning flights, I will be using Uber from now on to make sure a car comes on time.

Flat rate is not flat rate. They charge whatever they decide later on. Booked a 2-hr flat rate from park slope to queens, and I Told the receptionist during the phone call it will have few stops along the way and it was from ps to queens and back. They told me 45/hr even tho the website said 40/hr. In the car and on the way back to park slope, they called me the rate is 65/hr and since I’m out of town( bk to queens is apparently out of the town…) and three stops alone the way they will need to charge me 150 in total. Years business with them. Disappointment left only. After argument they said $140 instead of $150 btw

I have used Eastern for more than 30+ years but service has gone downhill over the last year or so. I just tried to reserve a car online and via the app but I have not received any confirmation text or email. What’s the point of having this system if I just have to call to confirm? In March, I booked an early morning airport drop off for my family. I received notification that the driver was en route but when I tracked him, he wasn’t moving at all. Finally, I called the driver and he said he never got the assignment from the dispatcher. So disorganized! I used to recommend Eastern to all my friends, but never again!

HORRIBLE EXPERINCE! I USED Eastern Car Service from 2008 to 2017 successfully. BUT NEVER AGAIN ...last TWO experiences went from bad to horrible. Left me stranded AT 5 AM after reserving and confirming a pick up and drive to JFK. Tracked the driver who arrived 5 minutes late. When I asked him "Eastern?" He yelled "No" and sped away. His strange behavior was made worse by no answer to my next phone calls to the office. No one would pick up. Ignoring my phone calls two times in a row. Finally someone picked up and abruptly told me to call another service. Duh...Eastern ... NEVER AGAIN!!

Miguel was excellent. My phone had a problem so it took me a while to find him. Then I left it in the car and he had to come back to drop it off. He was courteous where a lot of NYC drivers would have been rude or impatient about that. Very happy with the assistance from the main desk, too. Their online booking works and their airport flat fee is a good value. One strange thing is that my fee at the end of the ride was higher than at the beginning--but I guess this usually doesn't happen because Miguel seemed surprised and refunded my tip in response. Received a quote to go to the airport including tolls, the driver Manuel G took all back roads to avoid the tolls and then demanded that I pay an additional $20 when we arrived at the Terminal. Never had this happen before with Eastern but it was certainly not only sharp practice but also a very unpleasant way to be treated, literally highway robbery. I have tried to contact Eastern but each time I call in they hang up. I have replied to the request below for additional information to process a refund but it’s a week now and each email I send is met with silence

Have been using them for over 15 years. Last week I called in the morning for a JFK pickup later that day. Told him I tried the app but it wasn't working. The fee posted online and in the app is the same for cash or credit $55 JFK. Dispatcher took CC over the phone moments later got an alert $61.98 was posted to my CC. I called while in the car and was told that's the credit card fee. $6.98?? Would not adjust the price and said I didn't order online?? Either way I called my CC company to dispute the difference in fare. Sorry do not trust them any longer.

WON’T use again. Booked a car to the airport and the drive went rogue en route to get me. Called the service from the street and they offered to book me a new one after saying they couldn’t locate the driver, but I would have to wait for it. I was shocked that they were so unreliable and now risked me missing a flight, and so asked if they could provide any discount or if they were comping the car. They refused, blaming it on their driver. They then refused to book the car since I was saying it should be free or discounted and eventually hung up on me.

Very much unsatisfied with my experience! On booking my ride I was told it would be $16 if I paid with card and $11 cash, upon arrival my driver asked how much I said the app said $11 cash he then said that can't be right, so he calls the head office and they say It's $14 cash, it was wrongfully charge on the app, now I want to know why wasn't I informed before I had to pay $14 for a ride I was told would be $11, good thing I had enough money on me or the driver and I would have had a big issue, first and definitely my last time using eastern!!!!

I used to use Eastern all the time for years of airport rides but today the service was shocking - I ordered a car three hours before I needed it, it didn’t show up on time, the dispatchers didn’t pick up when I called over and over, and finally when one did, he was rude and uninterested and told me the phones weren’t working. Oh and ‘boo hoo everyone’s got a problem today’. Bizarre. So I called Uber and waited 11 mins for that. Ten minutes into my Uber ride the Eastern driver called to say he was at my house - a full 40 minutes late.

Never using again! Called the night before to schedule a 5:30am pickup to the airport. I got a confirmation text with the correct details but the car never showed up. No call, no text from them. Tried calling frantically 5 times while we were waiting so we would not miss our flight but no response on their main line (despite this being rush hour and the site advertising them as being “24 hours”). Ended up getting an Uber after half an hour of waiting. Lousy service, unreliable. No wonder car services are going out of business!

I recently took Eastern to LaGuardia from Carroll Gardens and got charged a waiting fee for being 15 minutes late coming out. Normally I’d be okay with that. However, the dispatcher told me it would take 45 minutes (for a trip I know takes only 20 at most) and when I tried to change the reservation later, they didn’t pick up the phone. They charged me $10 for a 15-minute wait time. I paid the driver because it isn't her fault but I’m at my gate over an hour before my domestic departure. Eastern are scam artists. Beware.

This company is NOT organized! I confirmed 2 appointments with them today. (1 for my mom from my apartment to the airport and 1 for my husband from the airport to our apartment - my mom spent the weekend in NY as my husband was out of town). The service was horrible. I called multiple times and no answer. For my mom the driver was 25 minutes late and for my husband, they canceled the ride. You should not confirm appointments if you do not plan to be on time! People are relying on you for travel to their destination.

Scheduled a pick up at the airport for 5:30pm when no car showed up I called and was informed that the schedule said 6:30pm I double checked the screen shot I took of my reservation confirmation and it was made for 5:30. The earliest car they could give us would be an hour later. If you are in a hurry and expect an on time car service look elsewhere. Terrible customer service. Waste of time. Last time we scheduled a ride to the airport we were charged twice. Fix your business or you’ll keep losing customers.

Complete unreliable and rude. We called for a car service an hour ago today and the dispatcher stated the driver will be here in 7mins. We waited 20 mins and called again and the dispatcher told us it would be another 7 mins again! After waiting 15 mins I called again and he immediately put me on hold. We explained to the dispatcher that it was two elderly women that needed the car service and there was no care shown. I usually recommend our patients to this car service but I will NEVER use them again.

Never again. I've used Eastern Car Service multiple times for going to the airport in the past but will never do it again after today. Driver didn't offer to help with luggage at all. I can let that slide. After getting in though I realize the entire car is covered in pet fur. I am wearing a suit and tie and now covered in fur. Someone I'm meeting with has severe allergies and my previously clean suit now looks ridiculous. Are they trying to cut costs to compete with Uber and Lyft? What's going on?

My experience with Eastern Car Service has been fantastic. I called them once for friends traveling with their infant because it’s hard to find a reliable care service that offers car seats. Their experience was so good that I booked Eastern again for myself and my daughter. Communication was excellent, the driver was on time and friendly and a good driver. The car and car seat were clean and the price was fair. Highly recommend. Found them through the Mommy Poppins blog and so glad that I did.

The worst taxi experience I have ever had. We ordered two mini vans for 11am. I confirmed this on the phone with the company at 9am. At 11am one car turned up, and then left once they saw our baggage, telling me to wait "a few minutes". At 11.25am I called them and they said that it would be an extra $15 for the mini vans. Finally at 11.45am they arrived and the driver tried to charge me an extra $20 for the mini vans. They were unapologetic throughout and I would not recommend them to anyone.

They’ve gone downhill as in slid down Park Slope and crashed into the Gowanus. I wanted to support a local company. Called 24 hrs in advance of trip to LGA for a flight. Got notification driver was on the way. Tracked him in the app. When the pickup time hit, the app suddenly said invalid pickup. I called the office and they said they’d figure it out and call me right back ... and nothing! No call. No driver. Ended up using Lyft anyway. Luckily padded my time ... hope I make my flight.

After reading all the bad reviews I was hesitant to book. Eastern car service was one of the few car services that offered infant car seats for new borns which uber and other taxi companies do not offer. Drivers showed up at arranged spot and on time. The vehicals that transported us were relatively clean and new. Car seat was already installed and was not expired. The flat rate price that the dispatcher quoted us was what we paid. Overall our experiance was a good one.

What's great about Eastern Car Service is that they will pick you up wherever you are not just Brooklyn.. the rates are great I would recommend it over the typical app like uber and you can't be the prices if you are ever in the Brooklyn New York area make sure you give them a call you would be surprised as to the Great service and prices compared to many others

I read the reviews that said they arrive late so I booked our car for 30 min earlier than we really needed. I'm glad I did. We booked a large SUV, since we needed the space, for 8am. A Toyota Sienna from 2005 arrived at 8:30am. $87 for an old van to take us on a 15 min drive to LGA, that was 30 min late. Probably not worth it. We accomplished what we needed, but I wouldn't use their service again. Also, we requested a car seat which luckily they did have.

PLEEEEEEAAASE DO NOT USE THIS CAR SERVICE. It's tempting to hire these people because they offer car seats, but I'm warning you: It's a trap! On the way to the airport, they sent a car with a booster seat instead of a car seat, after my wife had confirmed several times (so many that I thought it was overkill) that we needed a rear-facing infant seat. On the way back from the airport, they simply didn't send a car to pick us up. Thank goodness for Uber.

The employee I spoke with was so incredibly rude and unprofessional. I personally appreciate feedback. It helps us grow. I hope this inspires change. So much needs to change over at Eastern. I use Eastern car service frequently, but unfortunately I had a rude driver pick me up this morning. I asked for a 7:00 am pickup, he called @6:45 and said he was outside. I told him that I would be out in a few minutes. He called again a few minutes later and asked me if I was coming. I got in the car @6:55 for a 7:00 pickup and he told me he would never take this call again because I was late! Driver's name is Fredi Palacios. Never again, Fredi!

I've used Eastern Cars many times especially for trips to or from the airport. They have fixed $35 fee if you pay by cash. It's $40 of you pay by card. All the cab drivers have a device to take card payments but they are very temperamental. I've been caught out without cash on me several times when their card machine is supposedly not working. Generally the cars are on time and comfortable. I have never had an issue booking cars over the phone.

I used them exclusively in the past but they have went so far downhill I will never again. Just now they were supposed to pick up my family from LGA. I called 15 times (literally) before anyone answered and when they did they said they had no toddler seats (which we had requested in our reservation.) Also it was unclear if the car was actually at the airport. No phone call, text, or email. No heads up. Nothing. The worst. Will never use again.

Absolutely horrible experience... called for a car at 715 and was told it would be 8 minutes..I got a text after 30 minutes that the eta was 6 minutes..I responded to that text to ask why it's so late and without my knowledge they canceled the car.. and I only found out because I called back... why would you cancel my car? I know it was raining but I live 6 blocks from the office...terrible job...deserves less than 1 star...garbage experience

Made a reservation 48 hours in advance for a car with an infant seat. They did not show up. Called them 10 minutes past reservation time and they said they "couldn't find a car with an infant seat". Would have been nice for them to tell me that anytime within 48 hours. Not after my reservation time! They offered me no solution either. Had to lug a baby and 2 suitcases and a grandma on the subway to Brooklyn. They should go out of business.

I made a reservation for a Large SUV for next day to the airport. The day and time I was waiting for the service the car didn't show up. I called and complain. They said they didn't have the car (they didn't contact me to le me know). They refuse to send two cars in replacement to solve my problem. If you need reliable service to go to the airport, don't call them. I didn't pay too much attention to the reviews until it happened to me.

Absolutely awful. Left my son and his sitter on the west side highway - driver waited two minutes and left before they could get down the elevator. Dispatch refused to send another car. Then stopped answering our calls. This after we opened an account, scheduled a regular and repeating pick-up place and time and confirmed the arrangements via phone. They couldn't be bothered and showed no concern for the situation. Avoid at all costs.

The last 2 times I’ve booked a car, a day in advance mind you, the car either showed up 45 minutes late or not at all. First time could have just been a fluke, but twice in a row is just ridiculous. It’s unfortunate bc they offer a good flat rate to airports, but I cannot justify the rate for the inconsideration of time and bookings.

I called them the evening before I needed them to order a car for the next morning. They sent me a confirmation email. They never showed up and when I called to ask where they were they said they don't come to my address. No one ever notified me of this. I had used them before and didn't have a problem. Also the guy who answered the phone this morning was extremely rude to me on the phone.. I DEFINITELY WILL NEVER CALL THEM AGAIN.

Terrible and awful business practices. The dispatchers cancel your car, hang up on you, send someone an hour late, treat you like garbage, and make up rules like they're not allowed to disclose their name. It's not worth the hit and miss chance that your car arrives in time to take you to the airport or worrying that after your 1am flight, you don't have a ride home and you're left to the endless taxi line. Don't do it.

I just tried to reserve a car online and via the app but I have not received any confirmation text or email. Miscommunications between app and phone and you will be in trouble as well to get charged if you cancel your car online. When I call the dispatch, it’s clear that no driver was ever assigned to my reservation for whatever reason and they’re just fixing it on the fly. He is disgusting rude, love to get smart with you on the phone and repeatedly put you on hold. Very quick service! Our family got a ride from LGA at 2:30 AM ($50 back to Brooklyn), very communicative and the driver knew exactly where he was going (car service lot). The only complaint or comment I shall say is it is not app friendly. Prepare cash and not credit card because apparently the online booking service is a new thing for them. The car came within 10 minutes after I called even at this hour.

Normally usually good service - the only bad one I had (prior to this one) was where the driver insisted that I pay cash (and even offered to take me to an ATM) instead of credit card. Most recent experience? Driver got pulled over on the way to the airport for illegally going through an intersection. 80% of the rides have been perfectly fine with no problems. I recommend you never use this car service. My two daughters and their caretaker were stuck and needed a car. I prepaid for a car to pick them up. The driver arrived but refused to help the caretaker who was trying to fold a stroller while holding an infant in her arms. After 3 minutes of struggling on her own the driver said she took too long and drove off, leaving them stranded.

Great service. I booked through the app (which, admittedly, isn’t all that great, but ended up working in the end). I called the evening before to confirm, and they had all my info. The app confirmed in the morning the driver’s details, and he arrived 10 minutes early. The ride to the airport was was great. Certainly cheaper than booking Uber or Lyft. Would use again.

The male dispatcher is a jerk. He will mumble into the phone and then yell at you for not being able to hear him. You can make reservations online and avoid this. The service is good and so are the prices. I've spoke to a woman there a few times and she is pleasant and friendly. Overall a good car service. The drivers will communicate via text and arrive on time.

Call back the base and the person then Tells me he doesn’t know who gave me that price. Obviously someone else picked up the phone and gave me the price.! They lost a good customer! Picked up on time. Nice driver. However, the black “limo” was a total junker with a very significant engine problem (was not sure it would make it to the airport) and exhaust fumes leaking into the car, and the back seat with large rips, and very dirty. I am happy the driver was a nice guy, and by some miracle the car made it without falling apart.

A dispatcher that gives you an estimate of waiting time that is terribly off (took much longer) and then hangs up on you when you inquire nicely where your car is. Then does it again. I was told to ask the driver himself, that they are not responsible. A bad display. There is alot of competition out there. P.S. I used to really like Eastern.

Zero stars!! My wife & I went went into the office & asked for a cab. The dispatcher replied 7 minutes. I waited over an hour!! No exaggeration! 530pm 635pm I had an Uber pick me up in front. We were very happy with Eastern Car Service for many trips during our stay in NY. Always on time and very courteous. A credit card charge was posted when the driver thought it was not working. We then paid cash. The credit card was refunded when we brought it to their attention. The car service made our wedding weekend very enjoyable.

The vehicle was in as new condition, and was appropriate for the size of our group and all of our luggage. A great service for a fair price! Highly recommended.

Eastern just left me stranded at JFK with an overtired infant and toddler after a transcontinental flight. I had booked two car seats ahead of time with meet-and-greet service for an upcharge and only when I called was I informed that a driver wasn’t even on the way yet. Horrible situation. Never again.

I will not use this car service again. My ride home from JFK was horrible. The car was dirty and smelled of stale smoke. The driver was not friendly. He took a terrible, indirect route to my apartment-I cannot imagine a driver not knowing
