This Edmonton Public Library is on 17 Street inside the Medows Recreation center. Its bright, clean, spacious and has a pleasant atmosphere . The staff are friendly and helpful. They have a place for kids to use and learn computers. The ambience is very relaxing and soothing. The EPL also holds classes for kids and parents free of cost. There is a bus stop just outside the Recreation center. They have a wide variety of books to choose from in many languages. Most of the EPL have books in Big letters to help those with vision issues and I believe it's very helpful. I noticed that the EPL makes an effort to involve young children to develop the habit of reading physical books, when the world in general is into electronics and games. By creating an environment with games and small prizes, children are motivated to read interesting books . This improves their knowledge and vocabulary. I understand there are many free courses available in person and online . You can access keys for Edmonton public school classes too. This is a great place to relax and enjoy a book or have group or individual study .It's a very pleasant and relaxing place with areas for studying. They have printing facilities . They follow all the procedures required during this pandemic. There was a table with masks for adults and children with hand sanitizer and wipes.

This library is okay. Great for reading books or tablet, however if doing homework is your task this is by no means the right public library. There are only a couple of tables with the right chair to table height which means if you want to write on your notebook or type on your laptop you will have to bend down while doing it, so if you plan on being here for long it might not work for you. New building and everything but bending down is the norm here, in a way I think its because they built it small so its planned so you leave quicker. Also often when a sitting spot clears up its occupied quickly. The library is small.

This library has very big space but the only bad thing is lots of noice. In the sitting area of library most of people are talking very loud , some are doing online zoom meetings with loud noises. And library employees are saying nothing to them. Some groups are gossiping there. That’s why I am giving 1star to them . I hope management will read this and take some strict action about that.

The place is fine and most the staff are nice. But there was this one staff who was being VERYY nosy and accused me of watching inappropriate sites on their computer when i was not. Its not my fault they had firefox as a search browser and a weird ad came up (plus after this incident, everytime we went back there she would be nosey and monitor us like i'd like my space please)

This place is a zoo for screaming kids and load conversations. Feels more like a cafè with daycare built in. There's only one library is quite but this and most all library from Edmonton has a screaming kid that outa control while staff just laughs. If your in college better off going to you campus library unless you love screaming kids

The worst place ever. The staff is so loud and won't bother to go up to anyone telling them to quiet down since they're to busy laughing and being loud themselves. Rude for absolutely no reason. The actual library is fine the staff is just horrible. There was one sweet older woman but the rest were so inconsiderate.

I can’t actually speak to the quality of this library but its 24 hr return was not where I expected and in fact it was behind a brick wall so quite hard to find and no signage since I figured it would be a frequently asked question but I guess I’m the only one returning library books after 11pm on a Friday :(

The staff at this location are always cheerful and ready to help. The location is spacious and great for those moments one needs heightened focus. I wish the library had an extra quiet room. Presently, the quiet room is on a first come, first serve basis

I just had an amazing experience. I came in with no knowledge at all on how to print and make copies. I asked the front dest and a wonderful nice lady named Julia helped me so patiently and kindy go step by step through the process. I love this place.

It was awesome, me and my friends were finishing up a science project, and we had no where to sit. However a kind librarian offered to bring a table for us, and chairs. They were very kind, and sweet. I really love to thank the staffs for being kind.

Place is extremely cold all the time. I wear two socks and my toes are still frozen. Cannot get much work done if I am uncomfortable. I asked staff to watch my electronics while I went to use the bathroom and they told me no as they are not

Did they change the definition of a library? I have worked in factories quieter than here. The staff talk and laugh louder than the children stomp their feet and yell. It should be called meadows daycare and social hall. Ridiculous.

Beautiful library! I have been many times however when there are A LOT of noisy children and teens. Perhaps I'm old fashioned but i feel quiet voices belong in the library. What happened to common courtesy and respect of others?

I actuallu go there very often and I am really able to focus and study whenever i go. Infrastructure and facilities provided are of top level and I really appreciate that it's just at walking distance from my place.

  • Nick Campbell

Is this place a library or a day care? Because i can't tell with the amount of screaming kids everywhere. What ever happen to a quiet peaceful place to get school work done and read? #medowsdaycare

Only 2 ipads for kids, and 6 kids waiting for it. Copy machine only accept coins, not accept epl cards balance. not good experience to come to this library.

  • Karen McDowell

You are able to access most aspects of the library. Health and safety protocols are strictly followed within the library and the complex as a whole.
