Honestly didn’t think I’d be one to write a bad review but after following Saturdays nights performance of the security guards at electric i don’t think I’ll be clubbing again. Being removed from the venue while waitting for my girlfriend while she went to the bathroom. After being inside for only an hour. Excuse. repeatedly being told that I am to intoxicated. Although still able to walk myself out. And communicate with security that is wasn’t the case. And I was waitting for my Mrs to finish in the bathroom. Being kicked out without my phone, wallet and jacket. And no means to communicate with my group inside. Being sat down on the bench out the front in the cold. While they made little to no attempt to assist me. Being told to just leave, and abandon my girlfriend whom was inside and unaware. Having my forearm grabbed, and twisted. While being dragged away by three security guards to an alley way for waitting out the front. And then having the cops take me away, and lock me up. And having my girlfriend leave the venue alone. I’ve never experienced a so called business go to so much extreme to isolate a patron and make no attempts to help or take into consideration the safety of myself or my girlfriends. I really wish it was a night I could forget.
I was really offended and insulted by my experience here. My friends spent $1,000+ on a birthday booth including bottles & a private area. When we lined up, the security took one look at the guys and refused our entry due to them “wearing designer clothes”. I’ve seen plenty of people wearing designer inside Electric, they obviously discriminated against them and were so outright rude and offensive to deal with. We had to make calls to the girl we made the birthday booking with to even be let past security who would not budge making us stand outside for 20 mins. When we walked inside, they charged each person entry which was surprising for a package of over $1,000. We get upstairs and there is no booth organised, we are left standing there awkwardly for another 20 minutes as they were unprepared and unsure of what the booking was. At this point we wanted to leave however they would not offer a refund. Eventually they took us to a couch which was supposedly “VIP”. This couch smelt so bad that you didn’t even want to sit on it….ripped up leather, shoes sticking to the floor before 10pm. So gross. Biggest waste of money and the worst security I’ve ever dealt with. Would not recommend to spend your money here EVER.

02/04/23 lady in the pink trench coat jacket and brown hair was very rude to us at the door and was extremely discriminatory toward boys/men would only allow guests who were groups of entirely females or majority females to enter the club. We watched outside for 20 minutes as she let in around 15 girls without checking ID or ‘guest list’. Would not recommend if you are looking for a good night out. They are simply so rude and unethical when it comes to entry. It was myself (a female)and my boyfriend who were trying to enter and we already had a group of friends inside but for some reason they wouldn’t let us in!? So we were stuck outside by ourselves. She was incredibly condescending and completely inhospitable, we have never experienced such unsociable behaviour in our lives and will gladly take our money to other places. I hate to add this but we are both high profile individuals in WA. Again will not be recommending this place YUCK!!!!!!
Hi there, I was turned away at the door, came at 11 pm on Wednesday. Had not had anything to drink as I don’t drink at the moment due to health reasons (female of childbearing age, there is a possibility I will be pregnant this year). Guard looked me up and down, hesitated, and then told me I wasn’t allowed to come in because I was on my own, and he kept repeating something about having to call-an ambulance if I drink too much and that’s why they don’t let people come in on their own. I’ve never heard such a policy in my life. I asked if there was any other reason for discrimination and he said no. Is this a Genuine policy? Reading the other reviews - I was dressed conservatively and warmly for the Melbourne July winter with black trousers, layered tops and a warm outer wool layer. Others who were let in were wearing less clothes and tighter clothes - was it that?

First of all, security guards were discriminatory and unprofessional letting groups of girls cut the line when they weren’t even on the guest list. After paying $25 entry and $28 for 2 shots of FIREBALL we left for 10 minutes and when we tried to come back in they refused us. Security guard asked to show our stamps but we never got one on entry, I had proof of purchase of my entry yet the door person and woman checking off the guest list claimed they had not seen us (even though we spoke to both of them when we entered originally). I understand its hard to remember faces but we were denied reentry when we had paid and were made to feel like we were lying. To top it off, the security guard said we “weren’t smart enough” and straight up accused us of lying. Don’t waste your money here, you will be treated dismissively if you don't have botox. Seriously disappointing

The security guards at this place are rude and aggressive especially this tall guy who is black skin color, I went there with a friend (male) and he told us that we had to get tickets to enter the place when obviously that was not the case. true because there were no events there. Then we waited a while because we had some friends inside and he let in a lot of other people who came after us, just because there were women in his group, that's absolutely outrageous. I will never go to this place again in my entire life and I would not recommend it at all. There are many other places that are completely above this bar and offer distinguished and outstanding service, this one is just rubbish. They should really consider firing the guards and get nice people in there becuase the existing ones are

So glad this establishment is no longer the place to be...just went there because there is no cover charge like every other club on the street that expect me to pay $40 to get in - which I understand at midnight when I wont buy drinks however at 9pm I'd like to get a cocktail or a beer (or two) and then go...however after having to line up behind the red rope (yes the place and the queue was empty so they could have just let us in) we were then told - maybe you shouldn't come in as you could fall down the stairs!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING - YES THERE IS A MOON BOOT INVOLVED BUT SERIOUSLY - I have been going there for many years with much higher heels and no one bothered to say anything.....is this discrimination or just should I walk on and not bother supporting local business!
Lady at the front was incredibly rude, pointed out and made a negative comment about a cosmetic issue I have with my jaw that’s completely out of my control. Didn’t let me in once even though I had a pre arranged $500 tab for my friends and I which still hasn’t been refunded as promised on the night. Joint pops off and music is really good. Crowd is mixed but more in the mid 20’s. Good vibes and venue. Staff are extremely difficult, rude and unreasonable. There’s no reason to make such derogatory comment towards a customer about something that’s out of their control. Wont be back for the foreseeable future. It’s not hard to be respectful. 8/5/21
The bouncers are the most rudeless and nervous ones that I've ever met in my life. I went partying all around Europe and Latin America but I've never met such disrespectful bouncers like in Electric, it is a shame because I always had lot of fun in there and have great memories but idk if will come back to this place again after yesterday night. I wasn't drunk or high, the problem was just my European ID (apperently to much difficult to find the right flag of my country on the tablet) and the problem was simply solved when I gave him my driver's licence... I can see from the reviews that I'm not the only one complaining about their attitude.
incredibly rude blonde female bartender - not the energetic and positive one, she was lovely! also wrong drink measures for classics. tossed my 25$ cocktail off the bar as I was standing next to it, I asked why, started cursing and yelling in my face, then when I ordered my next drink with another bartender (which I was paying for) she came and slammed the eftpos and grabbed it as soon as I tapped and yelled at my face agressively before walking away. copped a bunch of mean stares every time she would see me. not coming back, cute enterior though.
Discrimination at its peak! Basically, if the security guards don’t think you’re hot or cool (e.g., have enough followers on your ig) they won’t let you in - can speak from my personal experience. Sad reality but in 2022 this still happens.. quite horrifying and not inclusive at all. I understand that most clubs have rules for people to follow when coming in but “hotness and popularity” cannot be the main prerequisites. Everyone deserves to have fun and a drink regardless of their size, gender, physical appearance and number of followers.
I used to come here all the time before lockdown- it was the BEST place on Chapel. After lockdown I’ve attempted to go several times with my friends, and each time we have not been let in. No matter the time- late or early. Big line or no line. Security are incredibly rude. They use the excuse ‘guest list only’ as a way to turn you away. I then tried to set up one of these ‘guest lists’ for my birthday and was told these could only be set up by people the club owners know. So ridiculous. Don’t even bother.
No hate toward the hospitality workers at electric, but Bill the security guard was discriminatory against myself and my friends. I am an 19 year old and the first thing I was greeted with at this venue was “how drunk are you?”. First of all I do not drink, for those of you who get it I was actually the designated driver. It was disrespectful and ruined my night, as I was supposed to be meeting my friends for one of their birthday’s. This is really disappointing and I will not be returning.
Had a few interesting experiences here but this one stood out. After waiting in line for some time, my friends and I were turned away due to capacity limits which we understood and left without complaints. While standing close by, two young… looking girls approached the security guard and were quickly let in after telling him that they would “snort coke off his c*ck”. Yep. Not sure if this is a secret code to be let in or if the security like to take advantage of women and their position.
We got to the club at about 2ish on Sat night. A security guy, quite high and very arrogant approached us saying “sorry guys, we can’t help you out tonight.” We we’re just coming from a pizza restaurant and he said that he didn’t know us and wouldn’t let us in. Meanwhile, 4 others were let in (ladies). Absolutely disrespectful and completely awful behaviour. Considering that we were not high or drunk. Just wanting to spend the last hr there before heading home. Is this not discrimination?
Bar tenders do not know the correct standards of drinks- The first red wine poured was a drop at the bottom of a glass, I asked if that was a correct pouring and she insisted it was. I went to buy another one later and another bartender poured 3x the amount of the first so I asked the same question and he said yes it’s the correct amount. Paying the same price as-well so I’d say they try to take advantage of people or they do not have adequate training. Good atmosphere at least…
We were hosting LEON BRIDGES and brought him to your venue last night after his sold out performance at Hamer Hall and the racist security asked him to leave the line!!!! Our group explained that he is Leon bridges the Grammy award winning artist!!! Explained that he is not drunk just quirky personality and they didn’t care and proceeded to kick him out and embarrass him. Extremely disrespectful and I will never bring any world class artists to this venue again! Racist!!!!!
Was 11:00pm on Tuesday 8th of August, two security guards with wide builds were outside and the group of my friends who had barely drank anything went there for a nice night, and the security guard immediately started being discriminatory to my partner, which put me off, and my partner was embarrassed for being targeted. We didn’t even get in. Please pull him up for his history, he was a balding white man in his 40s.

HOW DOES THIS VENUE HAVE 3.5 STARS. Every single review is negative. The security at this venue is crazy over the top. Friend walked into the rope boundaries and all the men were ejected from our group. Obviously all the women were allowed to stay. Security then tried to instigate a fight with one of the patrons for asking why he was being ejected. Honestly don't know why men bother trying to get in.

Would not recommend going here at all. From the things I have heard and seen lining up the two nights, you are only aloud in if you are "well known" or the bounces like the look of you. It was our second time in Melbourne and were turned away Saturday night for no reason at all and it was still pretty early on in the night. We tried our luck on the Sunday night because why not and were let in after being looked up and down but just was not a vibe x
Went a couple of times during my stay in Melbourne. Didn't really warm to it like other bars I visited, maybe it's just a bit dark inside - I'm not sure. Service was ok, although I was asked 15 minutes later to reswipe my card as my last payment hadn't gone though. As I had no receipt from the earlier transaction I couldn't check it but when I got my card bill later in the month all seemed to be correct. Don't think I'd return unfortunately
If I could give this 0 stars I would. A mate and I tried getting into this place but were denied entry for absolutely no reason when we weren’t even intoxicated Nor did we wear anything that wasn’t formal. Further to this we greeted the security asking them how they were going but just denied us entry just simply saying “not tonight boys” absolutely disappointing and I probably won’t even bother trying to get into this place again.
I’d give this place a negative if I could. They discriminate against disabilities, namely diabetes. In 2022, when people should feel comfortable with having fun and engaging with their community, Electric have obviously made their stance clear. My friend was denied entry because she had suffered from a hypoglycaemia attack the weekend prior (they knew because they had called the ambulance). Just disappointing all round.
My friends and I came for a birthday. Hoping to get in early and get in, we came at 7.30pm and there was no one in line. We were a group of 5 girls 4 guys, security came to me and asked me how many drinks I had. I respectfully told him I had 4 beers and he said “not tonight mate”. This was a very unfair decision from the bouncer, as we were completely fit to enter the club. I will not be returning to electric.
If I could give it no stars I would. Very poor service. Gender discrimination. Rude door lady and security. When I was last there they turned down a group who was there for a birthday and had paid because they did not have enough girls and then asked them to kick out some of their guy friends to make room for girls. They then said they would give back their money tomorrow... Would not recommend.
The bartender was so rude to me. He yelled at me and slammed the eftpos machine on the bar and tried to charge me $51 for three drinks. I couldn’t get over how nasty he was, even though there was money in my account, the machine kept declining and I was being yelled at for it. I tried to show him my outstanding amount on my card so he then tried to charge more on the machine for three drinks.
Security guards and manager displayed the epitome of discrimination. My friends and I were denied entry under the condition that we weren’t “dressed nice enough”. Manager also mentioned the bar was full, however she proceeded to let the 2 gentlemen behind us in. If I could give this establishment zero stars I would. If you’ve got any self respect, go and spend your money elsewhere.
Gender discrimination. Male security guard said “look at the females in the line. Does it look like you two (males) are ever getting in here?” When my friend and I asked what we would need to get in the security guard followed with “this is the best club in Melbourne, do yourselves a favour and dress up if you ever want to get in here.” Yet the Google reviews suggest otherwise…
Name a better Tuesday night for a dance in Melbourne. Bet you can't. Staff and security are great, especially Rory and Jordy. And the music... I caught myself smiling way more than normal lol... Fun-sexy-bassy tunes from the very talented tall-dark-handsome one with goooood vibes and great rhythm... What's not to like? xoxo
Amazing experience. The staff are super friendly and the vibe is out of this world! The staff are not shy to clean up after guests and the venue is always looking immaculate! I would highly recommend to anyone looking to spend a good night with friends in Melbourne! Haven’t been to a night club that I enjoyed so much in so long! Definitely Reccomenf!
Left my jumper in coat check and came back the next day with the ticket to collect. Was told to come back a different day, so I did and then was told to fill out the form online. Haven’t received a response. Went back in and said that and they said they couldn’t be bothered looking through lost and found and it was probably chucked out. Like what?
Not really my scene. The place was small & appeared to be more crowded then what it really was! No dance floor, music wasn't bad, every one just dancing where ever they're sitting & pretty much the guys are all just there trying to pick up lay!!! Won't be going back again. Like I said not my scene so this rate should not really be evaluated!!
Pretentious! Security guards would scan the queue and if you dont pass their judgement, they’ll pull you out the queue and pretend that it’s only guest list night. My friend just won pokies that night and looking for a place to spend the money. There are way great places in Melbourne to go. Skip this one! Definitely! Listen to the reviews.
This is the most amazing bar in Melbourne. The girls and I always have the best night out here. They make really delicious cocktails and the music is the best. Staff are always so kind and friendly. The reason there are 1 star reviews is because people can’t get in as they have a strict door policy, which makes the club good! X⚡️
My friend has a booth booked. Security didn't even bother checking guestlist names just "No lines! Go 161!" After 2 years of lockdown don't you want to generate revenue for the club rather than running an ego power Trip? The security team tonight was very discriminatory letting right queue in but not the left. Good luck …
I was excited to go to this bar because people said good things about it but I was left highly disappointed.. we asked how much entry was, we went to line up and got asked if we were on the guest list.. if you weren’t on the list no entry. There probably was no ‘list’ & we got turned away because we weren’t in mini dresses.
Three DJs were great and atmosphere. The drinks were well made and not horribly expensive. The entire room is well put together and clientele were respectful and had good energy. Notes: A$30 Entry Note for men; They keep the ratio in favor of women - might turn you away Did not get crowded when I went Great time
Don't be fooled by it's strip club vibes this place makes the best espresso martini in the whole of aus!!!!! Great for groups as they have lots of comfy sofas but nice chilled atmosphere if you want to go there for a quiet drink. Ps if you are unfit the Everest like stairs leading to the bar might be an issue...
My girlfriend and I dressed formally were refused entry due to “guest list only” by the rude door girl. Then watched as she let in all females without checking the “list” and denied every male that walked to the door. Disgusting behaviour, I hope she gets fired for her unprofessional behaviour.
We arrived at the bar early at around 10:00pm and the lady at the front didn’t let us in she said it was fully booked out for the night. Straightaway two girls wearing a cocktails dress wanted to get in and she let them in straight away. We felt discriminated and will never go there again.
Be extremely careful with this place. You get robbed very quickly. Hand bags, mobile phones, credit card. Miserable unhelpful staff and the manager the worse. Not leadership skills. This place is for rats and thieves. Do not go to this place.. avoid it. Go to other honest place.
Photos online don't do electric justice. THIS PLACE IS INCREDIBLE! The most beautiful staff who always go above and beyond for everyone, best tasting cocktails I have ever tasted (trust me I've tasted a lot). I cannot recommend this place enough! Absolutely electric atmosphere!
I would give negative stars if I could. Wouldn’t let my mates in (males) because they were ‘under dressed’ until I joined them (female) and were let in…. Just super shittty that clubs still do this… not to mention they would have spent big bucks over the bar…. Ur loss electric
Open to 3am this is a great place to start or end a night on Chapel Street. Loads of different seating options from counter to booths to the sofa area on the raised landing. Lighting is turned to a low red dim and a projector plays music videos on the stairway entrance.
Me and a group had come from the Emerson formally dressed up from a friends 21st. We got told guest list only, however they let in others that were not on a list after us. The door girl was extremely rude and should have told us straight away. Genuinely rude.
Very bad, security at the front door think they are it and a bit very very very rude. Not the type of experience you would want first hand as you walk through the door on a night out. No people skills what so ever, it’s actually embarrassing not cool at all
Really disappointing, made a guest list booking and was denied entry based on intoxication which was ridiculous considering this was meant to be my first venue of my 36th birthday really the worst experience of my 36th so far thank you security …
If you're going to have guest list only (strangely on the first weekend of full capacity) maybe mention the fact on your socials before having people come out and line up for ages just to be turned away??? A great club but this was just frustrating.
Mate was puking up a crab sandwich in the toilets meanwhile me and my friend had fish bowls (highly reccomend). Music was a good mix 80s house . Can also say swinging the lights around gave me more joy than my first born child. …
Have been nothing but looked after at this venue, time after time. Jonno and jesse were two people who I have a lot of respect for. Good blokes who take pride in there job. Security guards also were polite to me and my girlfriend upon arrival.
Bad experience. Got charged $6 plus $1.50 surcharge for a soft drink and yet when I asked the price was told $6 and no mention of the $1.50 eftpos surcharge. Because I paid using pay wave they do not show you the total amount, which I think
First class night club, the best looking girls in Melbourne and the blond hostesses is the best she knows style and fashion I was let in because of my latest hat style and because I almost 60years old and I didn't have to show identity card.
They are so so rude here. They were always bad but a change in staff and door people recently has made them even worst than I remembered. We had full birthday celebrations planned here, they didn’t give us a booth and table drinks as booked
I am thinking to give it zero as i dont have any option but my experience was absolutely hell guards at entrance were rasist and dined entry to us and after the we saw they were getting people from back of the long line and giving them
I live in the hood and this bar is extremely loud every single night, disturbs many people’s sleep. If the management doesn’t do anything with the soundproof system or turn down the volume just a bit, we gonna report it to the police.
Security didn't let us in for "streetwear" being corduroy, jeans and boots. The girls in our group were fine in denim, jeans and boots though? Wear a suit if you're a dude, bald security will be very rude about your attire otherwise.
Always have fun here. Probably don’t even try go on a Saturday though, fkn impossible to get in and to be honest I can’t be bothered waiting in line for hours. Go on a Thursday when the crowd is friendly and everything is easy-going.
I really like this place because they are open until 3 am every single night. You can start your night here and (if u ain't to tipsy to get back in) finish your night here :) Great cocktails and a big range of different whisky's..
Will the bartender was the perfect addition to this amazing establishment! He was kind, genuinely friendly and was so passionate about serving! Definitely needs a pay rise for dealing with us, thanks will …
Amazing environment! Staff are soo friendly and welcoming. Music is awesome and the whole place is a massive vibe! Big shout out to Tia for looking after us, wouldn’t have had such a great night without her.
Nice drinks but the security really let this place down. I hate going here but Cocaine is lots cheaper here then other nightclubs along Chapel street.

Nobody dances until like 4am, so the weird conversations I had with homeless people after the club relating to collective consciousness and ChatGPT were actually more entertaining than the club itself.
Venue is great but entry fee is overpriced, DJ sucked and it was next to impossible to get a drink without waiting in line for half an hour. Served me a flat glass of sparkling. Don’t waste your money
smells like feet every time i’ve come, and you have to pay like $30 to get in which is a complete rip off. only losers come here.

We had been denied entry cause we were male and they only allowed females at the door. Fair dinkum, 2022 and this is still happening. Cheers for the disappointing end to our night.
What a great party Bar...its very busy...but great fun. Friday night it's the place to be actually any night is pretty good...even a mid week Wednesday can be busy. …
I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a place to let loose and enjoy a night out ! The crowd is very friendly! The staff is amazing and the music is just a vibe !
Not a laid back venue at all. Made a booking two weeks in advance and wasn't let in. They barely gave us an explanation and then 20 minutes later gave our seats away. nice one
Place is nice. They have billiards, smoking area. Dance floor and lots of couches. Drinks are absolutely good. Bar tenders are so nice. Guards are chilled. Toilet are clean.
I don't go out clubbing often, but when I do -- this is the place! Very friendly and hospitable, relaxed atmosphere and comfortable. They will mix whatever you request.
This place slaps. Good vibes, good crowd and good music. Definitely try arrive before 930pm on their busier nights otherwise you might have a rough time getting in.
Nice place, friendly security and host. Inside feels like Tinder live though, feels strange people instead of dancing they’re eyeing each other and looking to mate
Really cool place, the DJs were really good. Nice vibes and staff were friendly. Just what you need for a good night out. The interior is pretty cool too.
Groovy, Fun and Retro vibes! Great for after work drinks. Music is alternative electronic funk feels. The place to be on a Saturday night.

Now this is the place to be. If you want to enjoy great music and have a great night out.

Good vibe except security wants to punch on for dancing ??? Too much ego?
Genuinely terrible venue. Drinks mixed weak, weird crowd, terrible music.
Great space, nice selection of cocktails and overall a cool vibe.
Great music. Best vibe on the street
