Very historic and cultural, there are days when the Emir/Sarkin is not in the palace. Those days, you'd have to get entrance permission from the Emirate council local government or something, then you'll be guided by someone from the council inside the chambers. You'd need to settle the security palace guards with some money and the price is relative to how much you negotiate.
A really wonderful experience, it's one of the best places I've been to. I'd wanted to say Hi to the Emir one on one but he was on a meeting then and after his meeting, he rode passed us on his horse in a midst of so many people.

The architecture in the Emir's palace is beautiful! The deeper into the palace you go in, the more astonished you are. And everytime you visit, you still have the same feeling. Knowing all the history that lives within those walls... It's invigorating! I hope you enjoy these shots I snapped on my phone.
This the best place to go to in kano state, regarding history and traditional culture. The place is really a great place to quench your tourist thirst especially I love the view of the horses around there too.

Recording not allowed within the premises. It was amazing to experience the awesomeness of the Palace. It is a vortex of compounds, buildings, courtyards and mazes. Open to the public for prayers on Friday. You'll need to take off footwear at certain sections within the premises

A Palace that holds big significant place in the history of the hausa people and Nigeria as a whole. A great place if you're want to learn more about the history of the Kano City.
It's a large monument which was built to house the Emir. It is free to enter but you will need to talk to the security (by tipping them) to allow you into the palace area.
The palace is really regal. It has a perfect blend or old and modern architecture, it is very clean and orderly. Once you're in, you feel the "importance" in the ambience.

A very beautifully maintained property. Overflowing with culture and history everywhere you turn. Rules apply, so be guided as a visitor, please.
It’s the architecture for me. You get to a point where you have to take off your shoes as you walk around. They say it’s a sign of respect.
Traditional. Extremely neat and cultural. Has a tour guide. Will recommend to anyone visiting Kano. Get your reservations before you go.
Nice place. They should put a flat gate fee rate rather than allow the guys there ask tourists/visitore for money randomly.
Modern building with ancient traditional and royal designed of Hausa Fulani tradition with full regalia of GIDAN SARKI.
The Emir's Palace is great when you are hosted by the Emir, which was my humble case. The Emir's Durbar is fantastic.
The structure is a combination of traditional and modern architecture. It is well organized, with multiple gardens.
Great place to visit. Make sure you speak to the gate head. He is an informative fellow.
