It was May 13th 2021 (also the night before Eid) around 20h15 when I decided to refuel at this service station. The gentleman whom fuelled the car had returned my key but I then couldn't manage to place the key into the ignition. As I placed the key accross the hooter, the key broke. The gentleman explained that he put half of the key into the fuel tank key hole and turned the key which explained why the bent and thus broke. A senior fuel attendant came to the car and explained that he is in fact the actual fuel attendant but because it is so busy and he didn't want me to wait much longer he then asked the gentleman whom usually does the cleaning to assist me. He took responsibility for the mishap. I asked for the manager whom then came to see me. The most impressive customer service was experienced. The manager's name is Virgil. I didnt have a spare key and just a really bad night because my husband's phone had been going straight to voicemail. Nonetheless, Virgil and the senior fuel attendant whose name I unfortunately did not get, arranged for a locksmith to come out and make a set of keys for me. Virgil offered me something to drink and frequently checked up on me as I waited on the locksmith to arrive and finish making the key. Even though I left the service station at 21h50 that night, I left a satisfied returning customer. Thank you Virgil and team! Great job!
Waited for 20 minutes and left without petrol. • Arrived at the garage this morning at 06:45, noticed that a majority of the pumps are cordoned off / not in use which isn't too big of an issue. • Went and parked at the end of the shortest que at an open pump which had one car waiting to pay. • Car in front left (after paying), pulled up to the pump at 06:50 and waited there without service until 07:05 at which point I left. • When I left, I could only see one petrol attendee on the forecourt and could see if I waited to be assisted I would be late for work. • By the time I left, without petrol or service or anyone at least coming to apologies for the delay/wait there was a que of cars at every open pump and a que leading onto the main road. From what I have observed it seems like at 07:00 there is a shift change in the petrol attendees. Any attendees on the forecourt leave promptly at 07:00 leaving any cars unattended to until the replacement change comes along which can be as late as 07:10 (if you're lucky). Overall, I do enjoy making use of Engen Oranje Service Centre as it is convenient and is mostly efficient (as long as you're not there during shift change). However, as of late the service has begun to decline at a rapid rate. I do hope that things improve.
An issue I can't seem to move past how a teller was so rude to my boyfriend in the store. He didn't have a mask and so he wore his jersey around his nose and mouth. The security mentioned he just needs to ensure that he keeps it on and covers the face but when we tried to pay for our stuff, the exit teller spoke to him so abruptly and rudely in a language he doesn't speak and we couldn't understand why she wasn't allowing us to pay. When my boyfriend decided he should rather exit the store and let me pay to diffuse the situation, I asked what the problem was and she said he needs to wear a proper mask otherwise she'll get into trouble and get fired. I still regret purchasing the items, she didn't have to speak like that to get her point across to him and then suddenly be "nice" to me when I paid. The security wouldn't have let him in if it was a huge problem. Please be kinder in the way you communicate to your customers around stuff like that.
We had the worst customer service from the cashiers in the store, this evening. My husband and I were standing in the queue to pay for our goods, when a till point cleared infront of us. We then proceeded to the cashier and dropped our goods on the counter and the cashier told us we must go to another cashier further on, only to serve the customer directly behind us. We proceeded to the other cashier and voiced our dissatisfaction. When asked to speak to the manager, the cashier told us to go over to the manager, who was standing watching everything and doing nothing. Eventually, the manager came over to the till point we were at, only to give a lame "I'm sorry, sir" nothing else. Paying for goods but definitely not for customer service here
I was very disappointed by the both the service and quality. We ordered a burger pie and a large cappuccino. The lady that served us told me to warm my coffee in the microwave. I'm completely shocked. A R31 coffee is served and sold which the staff member instructs the customer to heat in the microwave on the way out. The pie had a piece of meat in it with barely a teaspoon of sauce and was dry. This was a burger pie. The cashier didn't greet or stop her conversation with her colleague while we paid. I purposefully went to the Woolworths Foodstop expecting Woolworths exceptional quality. This was the worst customer service and food I've ever had.
Beware! Attempted scam by staff. Last night I was overcharged R200 when buying groceries - this was added onto my bill and the amount was for petrol. I was not filling up my car. When I flagged it with the cashier, she walked outside and got a R200 note from a petrol attendant and gave that to me. I think that the petrol attendants are getting paid cash for petrol, then working with the cashiers - if they can trick shoppers into paying for this when buying groceries they can keep the cash. I can let management know exactly when I was in store last night if they want to check the tapes
This morning the petrol attendant with the name of Herold was very rude, he came and asked if he can assist me the minute i said I'm not going to fill up i just need to be assisted with the air in the tyre, he said he is very busy and left he went to about 5 cars while i was standing there ignored me as if i was not existing until one petrol attendant came to attend me. I was shocked and surprised because i use this Engen garage all the time i need to fill up my tank and this was the sad experience i ever experience from the petrol attendant
Engen Oranje Service station is always a good place to stop and fill up your vehicle before leaving Cape Town. Friendly staff and assist you in the shortest possible time. Sometimes you must wait due to the high volume of vehicles that are using the facilities. With a great convenience store for the necessary refreshments for your trip or going home. Worthwhile for you to stop for fuel and experience it yourself. I have visit many service stations that won't make the cut as this service station. Keep up with the good service.
Between 01h00 and 04h00 this service station is descended upon by numerous party goers looking to feed their late night cravings after a night out on the town. No matter what the time of the day, this service station has what you need from your healthy mid week shopping to your need for that chicken and mushroom pie at 02h00. Only down side is that parking is limited and people don't much care about anyone else, but themselves when it comes to looking for a space.
If you're having a night out in the city, you eventually end up here. This place has a petrol station, a pizza, as well as a burger outlet, a bakery and a well stocked Woolworths store. The bakery used to sell divine apple strudels, but no longer:-( While waiting in the queues at the fast food outlets, you'll strike conversations and forge new friendships with fellow revellers. This place is open 24 hours a day and the staff are always friendly.
terrible service, went to to the garage last night, the garage was relative quiet. we pulled up at the first pump and waited for attendant while my husband went to the woolies. he returned and we were still not assisted by the petrol attendant, however, ppl who arrived after us were attended before me. this is not the first incident at this station. I find that they truly lack in service. Kloof street engen services is way better.
A wolf dressed in sheep’s clothing. In-house Woolworths outlet but with teller at does not ask for W/loyalty card. Speaking to other colleagues while serving their customers and do not take pride in their work. To the cash register staff here, there are so many fellow South Africans who would love ❤️ to have your position, to be employed - the very least you can do is show that you are interested.
A white driver is served first nomatter what at this garage because of the anticipation for nice tips. The attendant even left my car after he had opened the fuel tank and rush to serve a white driver who had jus pulled up. This happened more than twice. The only reason i still fill up there is because engen petrol has a good perfomance report, and its the closest garage from my place.
Woolies ones stop is generally well stocked. Service is usually friendly. Takeaway joints are a plus but can get annoyingly busy on the weekends. The bakery is a bit of conundrum...in this world of low carb gluten free hipsters, who still eets a custard filled Chelsea bun, amongst other pasties? Some Deli style food will surely be welcomed by the drunken after party masses
When I stopped at this garage they were extremely busy. Waited a while to be serviced. Upon enquiry on how long it will take I was told in a very abrupt manner that I had to wait my turn......which was way overdue. So I left! Very convenient and very pricey with service lacking tremendously. Sadly I will not be returning as they clearly don't want my business.
Engen is fine, but the staff in the store seem to take it upon themselves to RIP OFF customers for every 5 cents they can score. When the change owed to you is 15 cents, and the till staff don't have a 5 cent piece, you are entitled to get the full 20 cents. NOT 10 cents ! and thus them pocketing the 5 cents owed to you. corruption right under our noses !!
Trengen. The legend, the myth. The 'I am kinda hungry, maybe I'll just nip in for ALL the food. At 3am' kind of venue. And maybe get petrol at more reasonable hour of the day. Super pleasant. Always well stocked. I actually just saw the truck for Wollies unloading all the food deliveries. Yes, it is also 3am. Yes, I did buy all the food.
I get food here when i'm at work. the selection is decent but no toothpaste. I've had trouble with the price at the till and the price on the tag doesn't match up. This is possibly the worst steers in Cape Town as well and the Debonairs isn't much better. I upgraded from a 3 star to a 4 because of all the attractive girls that go there
Very convenient store for groceries, a bakery as well as fast food pizza (Debonaires) and burgers (Steers). The staff are also wonderful. I accidentally left in the shop on Friday night and the store contacted me the next day to let me know it was safe, with all my belongings in it. Special thank you to Roxy and Marianne who assisted
So , I called 4 times in a row, and had the call put down in my ear every time. why on earth do you then have a phone line if no one bothers to answer? I wanted to ask if you have something in stock before coming there, but now I will not bother again. It also shows that you are not that busy right now, so what is the excuse?
Not a pleasant place to visit in the morning. The teller shows no acknowledgement even when standing directly in front of her, no greeting instead from with an irritable look on her face 1st and her only words are plastic. Staff coming on shift are blocked by tellers gathering at the drop safe having conversations.
Unhappy with the service I received this morning. Had to pay twice the amount for R400 petrol as their system didn't pick up the first transaction even though I have proof the transaction went through and the petrol attendant and Manger blamed the system by say, the manager: "your phone is faster than our system".
I was very disappointed with petrol ⛽️ Attendeds today, normally it's first come first serve but today start with what so called big cars I have to wait about 25 minutes without service just because I don't look like someone who tips them . Or because I driving a cheap car. But I'm going to come back again …
This Woolworths has cool stuff thats not easy to find elsewhere, maybe because there are many tourist and foreigners in this part of town some pf the products are more international. They are 24h so maybe you been there after a night out. There is also the steers and the pizza place, a s
When paying for petrol and goods please expect to make payment twice. On top of that this seems to be their form of entertainment as the line of cashiers gawk at you for your reaction to the petrol stations policy! Although I loved this options service and peoples skills are lacking
Definitely not a convenience stop! There are not enough tellers in relation to the number of customers. The majority of the time you will wait between 15-20min to pay which is definitely not convenient. It’s quicker to drive & park in Gardens centre I can guarantee you!
Just filled up my scooter and upon arriving at my destination I discovered that the attendant did not replace the cap on my fuel tank. Pretty fundamental, methinks. Tried calling. Useless IVR resulting in no one answering my call. Unimpressed to say the least.
probably the best petrol station in the country with a little "shopping mall" inside... always busy... 24/7.... but miraculously... there is always one or two parking spots available. it's amazing to see a petrol station churning like that
Strange to say, but this station is a Cape Town institution. At any time of day chances are you'll run into smoene you know (if you're from cape town). At times you wonder if people do their weekly shopping here given the foot traffc.
What a convenience, i met Carl Wastie there the last time, great location. The staff training seems to be a problem i had problems on both occasions i was there last, a problem with the level of skills, staff needs more training.
Perfectly situated in Gardens next to the city exit onto De Waal Drive. Convenience for all that enters the building. You may fill up your vehicle or simply stop to buy necessities for home or get a meal anytime of the day.
For a 24 Hour One Stop Shop if you looking for filling up Fuel, buying some groceries at the Woolworths, getting some good food from the Steers or Debonairs. This place has it all and is available All Day, Everyday …
sat waiting for service for 10 minutes before leaving, having attended to water, oil, etc., myself. No attendant even glanced in my direction, despite the garage not being especially busy. Took my business elsewhere
This is simply the best petrol station in the country with 24 hour fresh Woolworth fair. And everybody knows it which is why you'll inevitably queue for ages. (Hint, pay for your groceries at the Steers)
There are a lot of fast food and snacks options here - as well as cooking ingredients. They don't have everything and can be a little pricy but Engen is open 24hrs and is generally really convenient.
Great service from Petrol attendant Lennox, however the garage does not take tips for their attendants via their mobile FNB pay station. The Engen in Sea Point is able to do this. Please fix this.
Terrible service! Waited 10 mins to be helped. Had to hoot to get assistance and the guy took his own sweet time. No greeting had a terrible attitude. Utterly pathetic. 21:55 Sat 29 October.
The Woolworths is always well stocked with a great selection of ready made meals, as well as everyday essentials. There's also a Steers and Debonairs in the same building, decent fast food.
This place is a rip off... They are EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE... I will advise no one to shop here or even support them by filling up fuel here until the owner stops ripping off his clients
Limited parking and pricey. Other than that it's safe, clean and service is very good. A positive is also access to 2 popular takeaway outlets and well stocked convenience store.
Seems there's only one restroom meaning quite a wait should you experience a urgent matter. Also not clearly marked. The place seems quite overly cold, almost 'refrigerated'
All in one stop includes fast food Burgers (Steers) and Pizza (Debonairs)with a Woolworths convenience store for the basics. Can be frustratingly busy during peak hours.
Got a WW express inside. Now you are able to buy your vegan butter at 3am. Good shop but it's pricy since it's a 24h shop inside an ENGEN gas station. The rest is ok.
This is usually a great quick stop & shop but it’s rush hour now and there are about 20 cars waiting with only 2 guys on call. It’s taken 15 minutes to be served.
Theres free parking so thats a plus. Theres also Steers, Debonaires and Woolies. This is a good place get quick supplies before a road trip. If you running late.
Is really fantastic place to be because like the service is fantastic you don't have to wait you can see my pay at Debonairs Steers yeah so for me it's fantastic
The staff is friendly and amazing. The Engen does offer a Woolworths which has amazing features and food. They close quote late and also have an instore Steers.
Late night food. Woolworths, Steers and debonairs all in one location. Staff are a little grumpy but they have to deal with all the late night drunk revellers.
As far as filling stations go this is one of the best shops in the area. Good selection of groceries, also coffee, debonair's pizza and steers burgers on site
Battery issue with the car while there. Owner Paul Rothman brought us coffee while we waited for the AA. Kind and thoughtful gesture. Well-run Engen-Woolies.
Well lit and always lively with a Woolworths, Steers and Debonairs pizza store as well. Great service station for those after hours hunger bouts. …
They have the only woolies that offer amazing spinach and fetta French baguettes and if course in the road snacks and food. Debonairs is also in there.
Somewhat of a landmark in Cape Town. 3am and need bread and milk... this is the place. Good petrol station too as the service is speedy and effecient.
Convenient, open 24 hours, with a Woolworth's, Steers and Debonairs. Well situated and a place where everyone ends up after a heavy night of partying.
Service is good but slow at times. Best bit is the fact that I can pay using SnapScan at Woolies, Steers & Debonairs if I don't have my wallet on me.
Very good service that has everything you need. From firewood (expensive tho) and fresh ciabatta’s to your everyday things like milk and bread.
Good Engen and service orientated. I am personally not fond of Carrot cake, but boy it's fresh and lovely, one of the best I've tasted so far.
Open 24 hours. Mini Woolworths food shop. Steers and debonair pizza onsite. Great bakery and large selection of imported sweets and chocolate.
AWESOME experience! Service Great! Just a great Place to get everything! They Enven have Ecoblend Electronic Cigarettes and Hookahs!! LOVE IT!
Wow, this place gets worse every time I go there. Till staff are the actual worst. What a let-down for Woolworths. (Steers side are great.)
Nice shop attached, but petrol station itself is always busy. Quite expensive diesel relative to other stations further outside City Bowl.
Always open convenience store. Perfect for quick grabs of soft drinks, snacks, what not. Always friendly staff too ^_^ They sell flowers!
This place is busy...with a very busy Woolworths food debonair's as well as Steers on the premises. Quality of the stores is great
Awesome service. Woolworths shop is fully stocked with a wide variety of meats. Open every single day of the year 24 hours a day.
Busy service station so expect a few mins wait from time to time. Great convenience stores to pop into while you fill up.
This is a classic late night stop to pick up some food etc on the way home. They fuel service is friendly and efficient.
Super-friendly staff. The Woolworths justs adds to the convenience. Sometimes it gets large bursts of customers though
Lovingly known as “club engen”. Pretty pricey with the Woolies products but great place for late night food or lunch
Best 24 hour Engen in the city. It's got a bakery, a Steers, Debonairs and a good selection of Woolworths products.
Convenient place to do your anytime shopping and getting everything at one place, fast food groceries and fuel 24/7
A Woolworths, Steers, Debonairs, shop and petrol station all in one, open 24 hours a day. What is not to like here?
It's nice but why is everything almost double in price. Too many staff busy in the morning and store isn't very big
I don't really know why I'm rating a petrol station. But the petrol is good, so is the service. Woolworths is dope.
Station itself is run down and has a tiny store with not much in it. Staff are very friendly and helpful though!
24/7 petrol station with Steers, Debonairs pizza and convenience store. Great for after party burger takeaway.
Well located and convenient. 24 hour Woolworths and takeaway options. Great after a night out on the town :-)
Great stop to fill up with fuel and food. Can be a little too busy at times with queues for parking and fuel.
The woolies at this Engen has to be the best petro grocery store in the country. Amazing selection of goods.
Shopping everything you need, with a view. Love the fact that they stock such a variety of organic options.
Great service and I love the fact there is a Woolworths, Steers and Debonairs there that's open all hours.
Great selection of the Woolies range, the standard Engen range and a genuinely inspired bakery. 24 hours!
One of the most well-ran Engen garages with a 24hr Woolworths and bakery. You won't walk out here hungry.
Kind people, amazing service and open 24 hours a day. Woolies food is probably one of the best parts.
Service was good and staff was friendly. The Woolworths did not have a wide variety on its selections
Love this engen, it's great, accessible, big woolies food attached, great one stop and well located.
My go to shop, with a Woolworths, Bakery and a Steers, it is always well stocked with what I need.
Disappointing almond croissant from the bakery. Quite dry as no almond paste type filling inside.
Clean, and a variety of food choices available. Several cashier's makes for quick assistance.
Convenience. Some fast food outlets, a small but well stocked Woolies food and fuel station.
Open 24/7, usually well stocked. There's always Steers if you're out of luck at Woolies.
Hope at the bakery is just wonderful. He's always friendly, sincere and welcoming.
Waited 10 min for an attendant. Every time I come here. 2 years no improvement.
Well stocked and open all night. Usual stock of goods quality Woolworths foods.
Generally friendly gas attendents, the cashiers are in a world of their own.
Great 24 hour shop everything you need in an emergency or road trip.
Very Wide range of Foods available. Almost akin to a supermarket
Petrol attendees take too long to arrive to fill up tank
Expensive Woolworths shop...but top quality.
Slow service and unfriendly
